BOSLEY, Grover T. "Rodge", Jr.
Keyser, W.VA. - Grover T. "Rodge" Bosley, Jr., 77, of Beacon Street, Keyser died on Monday, October 1, 2001, at John Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD. at 10:30 p.m. after undergoing surgery on September 13th. Born on December 15, 1923, in Beryl, W.Va., he was the son of the late Grover T. Bosley, Sr. and Viola V. (Evans) Bosley. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Dave, John, Brooks, Lester, Carl and James and his sisters, Maxine, Mary Lou and Ethelene. He was also preceded in death by his very special daughter-in-law, Connie (Paxton) Bosley on June 17, 2000. Rodge worked as a service technician at Jake's Service Station in Westernport from 1938 to 1942, at which time he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He fought in WWII as a member of the 129th Ordnance Maintenance Battalion of the 7th Armored Division in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. Upon returning home, he began working for Columbia Gas of Maryland and retired after 32 years of service. On September 9, 2001, in Clarksburg, he was awarded the "Jubilee of Liberty" medal issued by the French government in honor of those who participated in the invasion of Normandy (D-Day). Mr. Bosley was a life member of Queens Point Memorial VFW Post #6775, McCoole and a life member of the Kelly Mansfield Post #52, American Legion, Piedmont. He was really an avid hunter. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Bernadine (Riggleman) Bosley; his son, Charles R. "Dick" Bosley of Keyser and his step-son George "Dan" McGaughey and wife, Diane of Nebo, NC; his grandchildren, Debra Gibson and Lynn Turnage of Raleigh, NC, David McGaughey of Asheville, NC, Paula Streets and husband, Danny and Bridgette Ack of Keyser; his brothers and sisters, William "Bill" Bosley of Keyser, Donald Bosley, Polly Bevers and Gerry Wolfe of Westernport, Madeline Miller of Lonaconing, Josephine Mason of Ohio and Margie Simpson of Florida. Surviving also are his great-grandchildren, who were the joy of his life: Lauren Streets, Ryan Streets, Mariah Ack and Willie Ack, all of Keyser; Derek, Jennifer, Kevin and Ryan Turnage and Angie Taylor, Dee-Dee Allen and Shannon Turnage all of Raleigh, NC. Friends will be received at the Fredlock Funeral Home, Piedmont, on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Services will be conducted at the Fredlock Funeral Home on Friday, October 5, 2001, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Earl Williams officiating. Full military honors will be accorded by the combined military veteran associations. Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport, Maryland. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home by the Queens Point Memorial VFW Post #6775, McCoole and Kelly Mansfield Post #52, American Legion, Piedmont.
