KEYSER, W.Va. - Ada I. Iser, 76, a resident of Heartland of Keyser Nursing Home, formerly of 107 North Water Street, Keyser, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1993, at the nursing home. Born Sept. 25, 1917, in Mineral County, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Virginia (Reed) Miller. Also preceding her in death were her first husband, Clyde E. Walker, on May 8, 1967; and her second husband, Raymond E. “Red” Iser, on Oct. 29, 1993. Mrs. Iser attended the First Baptist Church, Keyser. Surviving are four sons, Jim Walker, Cresaptown, Md.; Dan Walker, Burlington; Harry Walker, Westernport, Md.; and Bill Walker, Keyser; two daughters, Virginia Staggs and Carol Welch, both of Burlington; two step-sons, William Iser and Robert “Tom" Iser Sr., both of Keyser; two step-daughters, Jane Shook, Carpendale; and Jean Hartman, Cresaptown; one sister, Pearl Martin, Heartland of Keyser; 13 grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and five step-great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home, Keyser. Services will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel by Pastor George Hull. Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens.

KEYSER - Albert L. Iser, 77, of 109 D. Street, died last night in Potomac Valley Hospital. Born in Hampshire County, a son of the late John and Rebecca (Iser) Iser, he had lived here 51 years. A retired employe of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company, he was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen and of Grace Methodist Church. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Maud (McGinnis) Iser; a son, Charles Iser, Huntinton, Ind.; five daughters, Mrs. Lura Klee, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; Mrs. Agnes Roberts, Bluffton, Ind.; Mrs. Margaret Keim, Fort Wayne, Ind.; Mrs. Otie Constantine, Prospect, Park, Pa., and Mrs. Martha Arnold, at home; three brothers, Isaac Iser, McCoole; Charles Iser, Bayard, and Fred Iser, Ridgeley, 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The body is at the Rogers Funeral Home where friends will be received today from 7 to 9 p.m. and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The body will be returned here tomorrow and taken to the funeral home where friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

ISER, Mrs. Bertha Holt

Mrs. Bertha H. Iser, 90, of 45 Henderson Avenue, died yesderday at Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient four weeks. A native of Mill Run, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Moody) Holt, and was the widow of Charles T. Iser, who died in 1947. Surviving are a son, Charles J. Iser, Falling Waters, W. Va.; a daughter, Mrs. Alice Hare, Oakland; 19 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. The body is at the Silcox Merrit Funeral Residence, where friends will be received from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m. A service will be conducted there Sunday at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Zion Memorial Park.

OAKLAND - Services for Charles R. Iser, 71, Bayard, who died Saturday in Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland, will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Bayard Evangelical United Brethren Church. Rev. George Simpson will officiate and interment will be in Garrett County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Lester Simmons, Robert Boltz, David Koons, George Layton, James Head and James Gaither. The body is at the residence and will be taken to the church at 1 p.m.

ISER, Mrs. Clara M. Crowe

Clara M. Iser, 92, of McMullen Highway, Rawlings, died Friday, Aug. 24, 2018, at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland. Born Nov. 26, 1925, in Mount Savage, she was a daughter of the late Elmer W. and Ethel B. (Witt) Crowe. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy E. Iser on Feb. 3, 2003; one daughter, Julie Ann Goldsworthy and husband, Terry; a son, James Leroy Iser and wife, Thelma; brother, George C. Crowe and wife, Sally; daughter-in-law, Judith Iser; and step-granddaughter, Jackie Walters. Mrs. Iser was a loving mother, grandmother and homemaker. Known as the "Pizza Lady" of Dawson, she was a member of the Dawson United Methodist Church and where she taught the Adult Sunday School class for many years. She also was a member and past president of Dawson Senior Citizens and formerly served as den mother for the Cub Scouts. Surviving are her son, Jerry Wayne Iser, Cumberland; four grandchildren, James Iser and girlfriend,-Gwen, Lonnie Iser, Dustin Iser and Richard Goldsworthy; four step-grandsons, J.R. McCoy, Clifford McCoy, Mike McCoy and wife, Karen and Donald Keller; great-grandson, Matthew Goldsworthy; three step-great-grandchildren, Amanda Turner, Bryon McCoy and Krista Crutcher; two step-great-great-grandchildren, Eric and Savannah Turner; two special friends, Phyllis Ward and Jean Parkey; numerous nieces and nephews; and other close family and friends. Friends may call at Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Monday, Aug. 27, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be conducted at Dawson United Methodist Church on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Mike McGowan and Jason Ward officiating. Friends may also call at the church one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Waxler Cemetery, Rawlings. RAWLINGS - Edgar R. Iser, 73, of RD 3, died this morning at his residence. He was born in Rawlings, the son of the late William E. and Julia (Dawson) Iser. He was a former employee of the Western Maryland Railway, having retired in 1969 after 52 years of service. Mr. Iser was a member of the Danville Church of the Brethren and a member of the Maple Shade Farmer and Sportsman’s Club. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Sadie R. (Ketterman) Iser; five sons, James W. and Leroy Iser, both of RD 3, Bernard Iser, Keyser; Harry Iser, Rawlings, and Paul Iser, Silver Spring; three daughters, Mrs. Dora C. Barb and Mrs. Linda L. Lease, both of RD 3, Rawlings, and Mrs. Rosemary E. Hott, Baltimore; two brothers, Sylvester and Leonard, both of Rawlings; three sisters, Mrs. Rebecca Taylor, Mrs. Bessie House and Mrs. Alda Carr, all of RD 3; 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Rotruck Funeral Home today from 7 to 9 p.m. and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m Monday in the funeral home by Rev. Waco Biser. Interment will be in Waxler Cemetery. The family requests that memorials be in the form of contributions to the Danville Church of the Brethren.

ISER, Mrs. Elizabeth Anne Poland

Mrs. Elizabeth Anne Iser, 73, of 109 Alvin street, died at her home Monday morning. Born in Romney, W. Va., September, 29, 1878, she was the daughter of Edward T. Poland and Mary Hott Poland. Deceased had been in poor health for 15 years. Survivors include her husband, George W. Iser; one son, George W., Jr.; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A sister-in-law, Bessie Boyd Iser, died in 1947 and a son, William Walter Iser, died in 1951. The funeral service will be at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon at the McCormick funeral home in charge of Rev. J. Dunlap after which the boy will be taken to Romney for burial in Ebenezer Cemetery on Thursday afternoon.

ISER, Elvin

The accidental explosion of a "cat and rat" rifle in the hands of George Hadley, 14 years old, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hadley, Beechwood, sent a 22 calibre bullet crashing through the head of his companion, Elvin Iser, 17 years old, Jackson street, about noon, Monday, causing his death without gaining consciousness at 10 o'clock that night. The dead boy is a son of Mrs. Annie Iser, a widow. He is her sole support and was a large, heavy built manly fellow. Mrs. Iser moved to Koontz Barracks in February and to her Jackson street home last week. Besides Earl, she has four daughters, Mrs. James Beeman, Mrs. Herbert Jackson and Miss Blanch Iser, all of Lonaconing and Mrs. Elmer Sanders of Keyser. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon. The body was sent to Keyser from where it was removed to Duling church for burial on Wednesday.

Services for Frederick Izer, who died August 11 in Springfield, Mo., were held yesterday afternoon in the Church of the Brethren, Wiley Ford, W. Va. Interment was in Abe Cemetery. Pallbearers were Henry M. and Carroll Silvious, Lee Mongold, Fred Fadely, William Root and Randolph Williams.

ISER, George W.

George W. Iser, 83, of Mill Run, R. D. 1, died in Connellsville State Hospital at 9 o’clock Saturday night. He was admitted there April 14. He had been ill several months. Deceased was born July 12, 1870, at Romney, W. Va. He was a retired coal miner and a member of Mill Run church of God. Surviving are a son, George W., Jr., at home; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. His wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Anne Iser died September 1, 1952, a sister Miss Bessie Iser, preceded him in death in 1947 and a son, William W., died in 1951. The body was taken to the McCormick funeral home. It will remain there until 7 o’clock Tuesday evening after which it will be taken to the Thursh funeral home, Romney, where the funeral swervice will be held Wednesday afternoon. Interment will be in Ebenezer Cemetery.

ROMNEY, W. Va. - Mrs. Gertie Belle Iser, 66, died yesterday at her home in Three Churches. Born in Hampshire County, she was a daughter of the late Isaac and Barbara (Hott) Fultz and widow of Ashby Iser. She held membership in Salem Methodist Church, near Slanesville. Surviving are three sons, Howard and Edgar Iser, both at home, and Floyd Iser, Winchester, Va.; a daughter, Mrs. Virginia Haines, Hancock, Md.; two brothers, Osa Fultz, Agusta and Ernest Fultz, Pleasant Dale; a sister, Mrs. Wilda Shanholtz, Boise, Va., 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The body is at the Shaffer Funeral Home here where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7to 9 p.m. tomorrow. Services will be conducted Sunday at 11:30 a.m. (EST) at Salem Church by Rev. Raymond Martin and interment will be in the church cemetery.

M/Sgt. Glen Carlos Iser, 51, of New Baden, Ill., died yesterday at Lackland AFB Hospital, Texas. Stationed at Scott Air Force Base in Bellsville, Ill., he had planned to retire from service this year. He had been in ill health the past several months. Born in Keyser, he was a son of Mrs. Ivy (Wilkins) Iser, Bayard, W. Va., and the late Charles Iser. Surviving are his widow, Dorothy (Valentine) Iser, formerly of Cumberland; a son, Glen C. Iser, Jr., Prattville, Ala.; a daughter, Kimberly Jane Iser, at home; a brother, Harold Iser, Indiana, Pa.; a sister, Mrs. Doris Rinker, Clarksville, Tenn., and two grandchildren. A service will be conducted tomorrow in Prattville, Ala.

ISER, Harley

Harley Iser, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Iser, who lived at Blaine, was flagging on the W. M. Ry. near Chaffee last Tues and was seen lying on the track by the engineer of a north bound freight , who blew for him to move, which he did not, and the engine dragged him about 100 feet before the train stopped. It is not known whether he was dead before the engine struck him or not. A tramp found near was arrested, but released after a preliminary hearing. The funeral was conducted at the M E Church, Kitzmiller, yesterday forenoon, but Rev. R. C. Weidler and interment was at the Dayton cemetery, yesterday afternoon.

KEYSER - Isaac Daniel Iser, 82, died Saturday at the home of his nieces, Mrs. Rebecca Taylor and Mrs. Alda Carr, Dawson. He had been ill five months. Lawrence Willard Iser, Jr., six months, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence W. Iser, 353 Baltimore avenue, died at 1:25 a.m. yesterday in Allegany hospital where he was admitted Saturday morning. Besides his parents, the child is survived by two sisters, Carole Jean and Janice Lucille; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Raphael Winner;  his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles T. Iser, all of Cumberland. The body will remain at the Hafer funeral home where services will be held Tuesday morning at 9:30 o'clock with Father Irenaeus officiating. Interment will be in St. Michael's cemetery, Frostburg.

Born in Higginsville, she was a daughter of the late Levin and Lina (Fultz) Haines. Her husband, Granville Iser, preceded her in death. Surviving are four daughters, Miss Hazel Iser, at home, Mrs. Ruth Fultz and Mrs. Audrey Hott, Augusta, and Mrs. Dolly Moreland, Winchester, Va.; one son, Russell Iser, Augusta; one sister, Mrs. May Shanholtz, Augusta; two brothers, Ernest and Fred Haines, Augusta; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The body is at the McKee Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at Salem Methodist Church tomorrow at 2 p.m. by REv. Voyal Cruishank. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Robert Lewis Iser died at his home in Riddlesburg at 7 a.m. Tuesday, May 9, 1944. He was born in Tatesville, Bedford County, on September 28, 1940, the son of Zimri Iser and Alberta Banks Iser, both of whom survive. Also surviving are one sister and one brother: Helen and Daniel Iser, both at home. The funeral service will be held at 3:30 Thursday afternoon in the Brethern Church at Riddlesburg, the Rev. Samuel Brumbaugh, Brethren minister of Saxton R. D., officiating. Friends may call at the home in Riddlesburg until the hour of the service.

Also surviving are his widow, Agatha (Athey) Iser; two daughters, Mrs. Betty Philips, York, Pa., and Mrs. Wanda Sfiffler, Westminster; a brother, Charles J. Iser, City; a sister, Mrs. Alice Hare, city; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The body is at the Scarpelli Funeral Home where friends will be received today from 7 until 9 p.m. and tomorrow from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m.

William Walter Iser, 50, died at his home in 608 East Newmyer avenue at 4:30 o’clock this morning after a lingering illness. He was born in Hampshire County, W. Va., April 1 1900, a son of George W. and Elizabeth Poland Iser of South Connellsville. Mr. Iser was employed as a brakeman on the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad for 35 years. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen and B. & O. Veterans Association. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Naomi A. Iser; three sons, William Walter, Jr., of Connellsville, Clifford H. with the U. S. Marine Corps in Chicago, Ill., and Donald R. with the U. S. Navy aboard the U. S. S. Leyte, Norfolk, Va.; a daughter, Miss Wilma June of Connellsville; his parents, a brother, George W. Iser, Jr., of Connellsville, and two grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at the home at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon with Rev. Earle R. Starkey, pastor of the First Christian Church, officiating. Interment will be in Green Ridge Memorial Park.

IVISON, John

Prof. John Ivison, a former musician and band leader of this city, died suddenly at Clarksburg, Monday night. He was 65 years old and was a native of Cumberland, England. He is survived by a wife and three children. One daughter, Mrs. Haw, resides in Frostburg. Ivison played in the orchestra in the old Academy of Music and was a solo cornetist, and instructed bands in this city and county.

Lonaconing - Mrs. Marian Izat, 76, died Wednesday in Baltimore. A native of Lonaconing, she was a daughter of the late William and Marian (Park) Cuthbertson, and was the widow of Robert Izat. Mrs. Minnie W. Izat, 53, wife of Alex M. Izat, 4804 R Street, Bradbury Heights, Washington, died last week. Mrs. Izat was a native of Westernport. Thomas Izat, 69, of 444 Georges Creek Boulevard, LaVale, died Wednesday at Sacred Heart Hospital. Born in Lonaconing on Oct. 12, 1916, he was the son of the late Thomas Peel and Jean (McCormick) Izat. Mr. Izat was a retired letter carrier for the postal service for 31 years; a member of Grace Memorial Communtiy Church; Alvin C. Neat Post 5280 VFW, Lonaconing; Chapter 410 National Association of Retired Federal Employees; AL-GAR Federal Credit Union; past member of LaVale Volunteer Fire Department; and an army veteran of World War II. Surviving are his widow, Mary (Shearer) Izat; two sons, Thomas W. Izat, Fayetteville, N.C. and George F. Izat, Cumberland; one sister, Mrs. Mary Dykes, Lansing, Ill.; three grandchildren and one nephew. Friends will be received at the George-Upchurch Funeral Home Friday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted there Saturday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Wayne Benack. Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Bob Crites, Mike Gorsuch, Bob Oliver, Donald Haney, Brook Joy, David Izat, and Bob Neel. Graveside military honors will be accorded by Alvin C. Neat Post 5280 VFW.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Carol L. Izzett died on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013 in Alexandria. Beloved wife of the late Paul F. Izzett Sr.; loving mother of Debbie C. (Frank J.) Goodman of Marshall, Va., Tracy L. (Shawn P.) Bennett of Alexandria, Paul F. (Diana C.) Izzett Jr. of Waldorf, Forrest A. (Kirsten) Izzett of Alexandria, Christina D. Izzett of Alexandria, and Todd S. Izzett of Alexandria; sister of Melvin, William, Darryl, Dennis Carder and the late Robert, James Carder and Grace Albright. IZZETT, Mrs. Emma L Glessner

Mrs. Emma L. Izzett, 77, of 118 Decatur Street, died Thursday at night in Memorial Hospital. A native of Ruffs Dale, Pa., she was the daughter of the late George Perdew and the late Mary (Emerick) Glessner. Her husband, Isaac J. Izzett, preceded her in death. A former Celanese employe, she was a retired cashier of the Queen City Station Restaurant. Surviving are two sons, Ray T. Izzett, this city; Paul Cook, Connellsville, Pa.; two daughters, Mrs. Paul Gnagey and Miss Genevieve Cook, both of Meyersdale, Pa.; one sister, Mrs. Eve Deremer, city, and three grandchildren. Friends will be received at Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be conducted there tomorrow at 2 p.m., with Rev. Albert L. Clipp officiating. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Donald Buser, William Flora, William Hardinger, Harvey May Jr., Richard May and Thomas Willison.

IZZETT, Isaac J.

Isaac J. Izzett, 81, of 310 Cole street, died yesterday in Memorial Hospital after an illness of three weeks. A native of Lonaconing, he was a son of the late James and Agnes (Wiper/Wyper) Izzett. Mr. Izzett was a retired carman with the B&O Railroad; member of the Junior Order, Council 49, Cumberland; VFW, Brotherhood of Railroad Carmen, Senior Citizens and Cumberland Aerie 245, Fraternal Order of Eagles. Surviving are his widow, Emma (Perdew) Izzett; a son, Ray Izzett, city; a brother, Robert Izzett, LaVale; a sister, Mrs. Eva Dawson, Bowman's Addition and three grandchildren. The body is at the Hafer Baltimore Avenue Funeral Home where friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

IZZETT, Kilgore

MT. SAVAGE - Kilgore Izzett, 68, Slabtown, died yesterday at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, where he was admitted Friday. He had been in failing health for seven years. Born in Midland, he was the son of Robert and Janet (Wyper) Izzett and was a retired blacksmith for the B & O Railroad. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Emma (Folk) Izzett; two daughters, Mrs. Gloria Federer, Japan, and Mrs. Janet Edwards, Frostburg; four sons, Kilgore Izzett, Baltimore; Gerald Izzett, Wakefield, Mass.; Paul Izzett, Alexandria, Va.; Clarence E. Izzett, at home; three sisters, Mrs. Jean Sharer, Midland; Mrs. Katie Beeman, Lonaconing; Mrs. Lenore LeBeck, Trenton, N. J., and 12 grandchildren. The body is at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg. A service will be conducted there tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. Rev. Edward E. Heydt will officiate and interment will be in Mt. Savage Methodist Cemetery.

IZZETT, William Jay

CUMBERLAND - William Jay Izzett, 55, of Cumberland, passed away Friday, Nov. 2, 2007, at WMHS-Memorial Campus, after a brief illness. Born Jan. 3, 1952, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late James Robert and Jean Emma Izzett. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Carol Izzett and Nancy Stover. Surviving are his sons, Erik Kahl, of LaVale, and William Izzett and wife Christina, of Washington; his daughter, Amber Izzett and fiancé William Hixenbaugh, of LaVale; sister, Betty Lear and husband Thomas; brother, James Izzett and wife Anna, all of Cumberland; two grandsons, Izaiah Kahl and Tyler Bible; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. At Mr. Izzett's request, his body was cremated. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007, at 11 a.m. in the First Baptist Church, 212 Bedford St., with the Rev. Tom Landaker officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., to assist with the expenses. The Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland (scarpellifh.com), is in charge of the arrangements.
