FROSTBURG - Mrs. Agnes Duncan, 73, of Midlothian, died yesterday at Sylvan Retreat. A native of Midlothian, she was a daughter of the late Wesley and Elizabeth (Walker) Merrill. Surviving are her husband, George Duncan, Sr.; two sons, George Duncan Jr., Frostburg, and James L. Duncan, Lonaconing; two daughters, Mrs. Sarah J. Blank, Mt. Savage, and Mrs. Lois E. Smith, Akron; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Durst Funeral Home; services tomorrow; burial at Frostburg Memorial Park.

DUNCAN, Alexander

Frostburg, May 10 - Alexander Duncan, 60, coal miner, was found dead in bed early this morning. He had suffered with asthma for a number of years. A son of the late Robert and Jane Duncan, native and lifelong resident of Midlothian, Mr. Duncan is survived by his wife, the former Miss Margaret Canning; two sons, Pvt. Robert J. Duncan, Sheppard Field, Texas; John J. Duncan, this city; two daughters, Mrs. Edward Vance, Baltimore, and Miss Catherine, at home. He had eleven grandchildren. He was a brother of Miss Flora Duncan, Midlothian; Walter Duncan, Borden Shaft; Lloyd L. Duncan, Aberdeen, Md.; and city police Hugh R. Duncan, Frostburg.

DUNCAN, Mrs. Carrie LaRue

FROSTBURG — Mrs. Carrie L. Duncan, 65, of 100 East Main Street, died Saturday at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, shortly after being admitted. She had been in failing health the past four years. Born in Garrett County, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Mary (Woods) LaRue, and was the widow of Robert Duncan, who died in 1964. Surviving are two stepdaughters, Mrs. Shirley Hunter, Harper Woods, Mich., and Mrs. Delores Wummel, Mount Clemens, Mich.; a stepson, Robert Duncan, Willoughby, Ohio, and a number of nieces and nephews. Services were conducted in the Durst Funeral Home today by Rev. Lewis W. Terry. Interment was in St. Michael's Cemetery.

DUNCAN, Mrs. Emma Meagher

SHAFT — Mrs. Emma Duncan, 67, of here, died Saturday night at Miners Hospital, Frostburg, where she had been a patient five days. A native of Lonaconing, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Lucinda (Bowden) Meagher. Her husband, Walter Duncan, died two months ago. Mrs. Duncan was a member of Shaft Methodist Church. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. William McGregor, Mrs. Carl Ruffo and Mrs. John Ruffo, all of Frostburg, and Mrs William Landerfeld, Shaft; two sons, Richard Duncan, Frostburg, and William Duncan, Monacy, Pa.; two sisters, Mrs. Jane McClintock, Chicago, and Mrs. Charlotte Middlelon, Cumberland; three brothers, Joseph, Trafford, Pa.; William, Cresaptown, and John Meagher, Wrights Crossing, and 10 grandchildren. The body is at the residence where services will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p. m. Burial will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.

FROSTBURG - Frank Duncan Sr., 64, of 170 Center Street, died suddenly yesterday while attending a meeting at FOE Aerie 1273. A native of Frostburg, he was a son of the late Hugh and Dora (Willetts) Duncan. A retired Celanese Fibers Company supervisor, he was a past grand outside guard and member of Aerie 1273 and a member of BPO Elks Lodge 170, Frostburg LOOM, Cumberland Outdoor Club and Republican Club. Surviving are his widow, Novella (Stevenson) Duncan; three sons, Frank Duncan Jr. and John Duncan, here; James Duncan, Baltimore; two daughters, Mrs. Willa Jean Reed, here; Mrs. Sandra Anthony, Clinton; a sister, Mrs. Annice Styles, Baltimore; two brothers, Robert Duncan, Hyattsville, and Freeman Duncan, Orlando, Fla., and eight grandchildren. The body is at the Hafer-Sower funeral Home, where friends will be received from 7 until 9 p.m. today and from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m. tomorrow.

MIDLOTHIAN - George Duncan, Sr., 76, of here, was dead on arrival at Sacred Heart Hospital yesterday. A native of here, he was a son of the late Robert and Jane (Rankin) Duncan. His wife, Mrs. Agnes (Speir) Duncan, preceded him in death. Mr. Duncan was a retired coal miner and member of the United Mine Workers, Local 1875 of Garrett, Pa. Surviving are two sons, George Duncan Jr., Frostburg, and James L. Duncan, Lonaconing; two daughters, Mrs. Sara J. Blank, Mt. Savage, and Mrs. Lois K. Smith, Akron, Ohio; a sister, Miss Flora Duncan, here; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, from 7 to 9 p.m. today and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.

DUNCAN, Hugh

Frostburg, June 14—Hugh Duncan, 60, 136 Wood Street, a member of the police force for the last 20 years, died yesterday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Anice Stiles, 7 Stanley Drive, Catonsville. Stricken with a heart attack a month ago, he received treatment in Union Memorial Hospital for two weeks and then went to live with his daughter. Born at Midlothian, Mr. Duncan was a son of the late Robert and Jane Duncan. He was a member of Frostburg Aerie No. 1273, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the Frostburg fire department, and belonged to the Presbyterian church. Surviving, besides Mrs. Stiles, are his second wife, Mrs. Olive (Griffith) Duncan; three other children by his first wife, Robert Duncan, of Washington; Freeman Duncan, now home on furlough from the Army; Frank Duncan, of Frostburg; three brothers, Lloyd and George Duncan of Midlothian; Walter Duncan of Shaft; a sister, Miss Flora Duncan of Midlothian; and 11 grandchildren. His first wife was the late Mrs. Dora (Willetts) Duncan. The body will be brought to the home here. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at the residence by the Rev. Henry Little, D. D., pastor of First Presbyterian Church. Interment will be in Allegany Cemetery.

Frostburg, Dec. 26 — Mrs. Jean Rankin Duncan, 83, widow of Robert Duncan, died last night at her home, Midlothian, following a protracted illness. She is survived by five sons, Alexander, Lloyd and George, of Midlothian; Walter, of Borden Shaft, and Hugh Duncan, member of the police force here; a daughter, Flora, at home; one brother, William Rankin, Saginaw. Mich., and two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Phillips, Centreville, Iowa, and Mrs. Sarah Cathcart, Evansville, Ind. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

CUMBERLAND - John W. Duncan, 56, of Cumberland, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2006, at Sacred Heart Hospital. Born Oct. 5, 1949, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late George and Lillian (Hitchens) Duncan. Mr. Duncan was employed with the Essex Corporation at Fort Meade as a Telephone Technician. He was a 1967 graduate of Beall High School and served Two Tours of Duty during Vietnam with the United States Air Force. He was a former employee of Duckworth Brothers, Eckhart, and was a member of the Frostburg American Legion, Frostburg Eagles, Laurel Elks, Mount Savage VFW and the Cumberland Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 172. Mr. Duncan was Methodist by faith. He will be loved and missed by his family and friends. Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Barbara "Bonnie" Duncan; his daughter, Kristi Ann Conrad and husband Scott, Ridgeley; the light of his life, his granddaughter, Lilly Duncan; his brother, Allen Duncan and wife Anna, Jacksonville, Fla.; his sister, Georgia Faye Michaels, Frostburg; mother-in-law, Dot McHugh; his extended family, Joan Merbaugh, Ed Merbaugh and wife A.J., Melanie Merbaugh, Sharon Lancaster and husband Johnny, and Cindy Winter and husband Jerry; three nephews and one niece. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Sunday, from 3 to 5 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at noon.

FROSTBURG — Lloyd L. Duncan, 73, Midlothian, died at his residence today following an ilIness of five years. Born in Midlothian, he was a son of the late Robert and Jane(Rankin) Duncan. He was a member of Trinity Assembly of God Church at Midlothian and Farrady Post 4, American Legion at Frostburg. He was a veteran of World War I and formerly employed at the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company. Surviving are his widow, Margaret (Whitehead)) Duncan; a son, Lloyd Duncan, Frostburg; a brother, George Duncan, and a sister, Miss Flora Duncan, both of Midlothian, and two grandchildren. The body is at the Durst Funeral Home.

FROSTBURG — Mabel Adams Duncan, 81, of McCulloh St., Frostburg, died Saturday, June 15, 2002, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland. Born Jan. 27, 1921, in Klondike, she was daughter of the late William and Bess (Yates) Adams. Mrs. Duncan was also preceded in death by her stepmother, Mary Ann Hitchins Adams; her husband, Willard R. Duncan; and two stepbrothers, Homer Yates and William Adams Jr. Mrs. Duncan was retired from the Willetts Bus Services and she was a member of the Carlos Methodist Church. Surviving are two sons, Robert P. Duncan and wife Hilda, and Colin L. Duncan, with whom she resided; one daughter, Beverly Dunn and husband Richard, all of Frostburg; six grandchildren, Robert Duncan and wife Mary Beth, Brian Duncan, Mathew Duncan and wife Amy, Daniel Dunn, all of Frostburg, Candy Duncan, LaVale, and Lisa Dunn and fiance Kevin Peterson, Frederick; four great-grandchildren, Larae, Breanna, Megan and Emma; one stepsister, Lorraine Richards; and stepsister-in-law, Anna  Mae Adams, both of Carlos. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Sunday. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 1 p.m.with the Rev. Joseph Penick officiating. Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.

Frostburg - Mrs. Margaret Duncan, 85, formerly of Midlothian, died yesterday at City Hospital, Baltimore. A native of Scotland, she was a daughter of the late John and Catherine (Prentice) Canning. Her husband, Alexander Duncan, preceded her in death. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. Surviving are two sons, John and Donald Duncan, Baltimore; a sister, Mrs. Anna May Harvey, Baltimore; four brothers, Joseph, George, and William Canning, Baltimore; and Stephen Canning, Detroit, Mich. The body is at the Hafer-Sowers Funeral Home where friends will be received today and tomorrow.

DUNCAN, Richard Meagher

Richard Meagher Duncan - This is part of an accident report stating that Mr. Duncan had been a passenger in an automobile accident on February 6, at 1:10 A.M., and Mr. Duncan died about 20 minutes later at Frostburg Hospital. Born in Frostburg, Mr. Duncan was the son of the late Walter and Emma (Meagher) Duncan. His wife, Helen (Klosterman) Duncan, died last November. Mr. Duncan was the owner of Duncan's Bar and Grill, Frostburg, and also had worked a number of years for the Celanese Fibers Company. He was a member of Frostburg Lodge 470, BPO Elks, and the Midland Democratic Club. Surviving are a son, Richard Duncan, Shaft, four sisters, Mrs. William McGregor, Largo, Fla.; Mrs. William Landefeld, Shaft; Mrs. Carl Ruffo, Frostburg; Mrs. John Ruffo, Eckhart; a brother, William G. Duncan, Shaft, and two grandchildren. Services tomorrow at 2:20 p.m., Rev. Clarence officiating. Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
