ARBOGAST, Daniel Ray

Daniel Ray Arbogast, 39, of Arthurdale, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, at Ruby Memorial Hospital after a long battle with acute lyphocytic leukemia. He was born Nov. 16, 1962, in Oakland, Md., a son of the late Junior Paul Arbogast and Rolena Stemple Arbogast.He was a member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church of Kingwood. He graduated from Rowlesburg High School in 1982. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 66. He was employed by Layne Christensen Co., Ruther Glen, Va., as a supervisor for the drilling and grouting division. He was the husband of Cheryl Ann Greathouse Arbogast and the proud father of Brandon Daniel Arbogast, of Arthurdale. He is also survived by five brothers, Bradley and spouse Kay Stem¬ple, of Morgantown, Larry Arbo¬gast, of Vero Beach, Fla., Nelson Arbogast, of Indianapolis, Darrell and spouse Patty Arbogast, of Aurora, and Brian and spouse Shawna Albright, of Morgantown; five sisters and spouses, Marion and David Maynard, of Medina, Ohio, Angie and Mike Wolf, of Kingwood, Lisa and James Jones, of Centerville, Ind., Donna and Mark Freeman, of New Castle, Ind., and Sonya and Billy Evans, of Waynesboro, Va.; a grandfather, Leo Stemple, of Aurora; several nieces and nephews, Rosie and Eddie Goff, Amy and Mike Welsh, Tony Arbogast, Eric andVerne Arbogast, Shannon Stieringer, Shane Arbogast, Brian Austin Albright, Misty Katon and Chad Hosta, David and Linc Maynard, Jamie Teets and Randy Stull, Suelle and Roger Lightner, Monica Jones, Gwen and Erin Taggart; and several great-nieces and nephews, Forrest, Ryan and Kaylee Wagner, Zoe Goff, Alexis Welsh, Blake Hosta, Damien and Shyanna Uphold. He was also loved and will be remembered by his extended family: Father and mother-in-law, Moody and Jean Greathouse, of Arthurdale, and the following brothers- and sisters-in-law: Vicki and Randy Thorn, Kingwood, Cathy and Jeff Zinn, of Arthurdale, Mark and Pat Greathouse, Masontown, and Michael and Pam Greathouse, of Morgantown; several nieces and nephews on his in-laws side, Toby and Theresa Hall and great-nephew, Mason Ray Hall, Jenny and Jeromy Garlits and soon-to-be-great-niece, Tori Danielle Garlits, Chandra Thorn and Pat Weaver, Amelia Zinn and Wes Goldstrom, Stacy Zinn, Carrie and Mikey "Bub" Greathouse,  and Cheryl and Nicole Ryan and Alex Greathouse. He will be especially remembered and loved by his dear loving niece, Jenny Hall Garlits, who was with him from the beginning until the end of his illness. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Hazel Stemple; and a brother-in-law, Ronnie Teets.Family and friends may call at Morgans Funeral Home, W.Va 7 East, Reedsville, on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002, from 7-9 p.m. and on Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, from 3-9 p.m. Funeral services will be officiated by Father Alan W. Jenks on Saturday, Jan. 12, at noon. Burial will be in Arthurdale Cemetery.

Arbogast Funeral
Services for George L. Arbogast, 27, of 326 Crawford Street, who was fatally hurt last Thursday in an automobile crash on Mt. Savage Road at Barrelville, were held yesterday afternoon in Grace Methodist Church with Rev. A. B. L. Fisher, Pastor, officiating. Military honors at the grave in Hillcrest Burial Park were accorded by Henry Hart Post No. 1411, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Pallbearers were Frank A. Deffinbaugh, Cederic B. Miller, W. Nathan Hauger, Chauncey Friend, J. A. Muir and Marvin H. Smith. The firing squad was composed of Nevin Sweene, Carl Neder, Grant and Robert Crump, Gilbert Lancaster and Wilbert Brant. Color guards included Stanton Byers, Norris Jones and Vernon Crable. Harry Reiber sounded taps and Raymond Whitehair was in charge.

ARBOGAST, George Lemuel , Sr.

George L. Arbogast, 82, of 104 South Street, died yesterday in Memorial hospital where he had been a patient for two weeks. He was the son of the late Isaac and Rachel (Duckworth) Arbogast and was a member of Grace Methodist Church and its Men's Bible Class. Mr. Arbogast retired after being employed by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad for 50 years as a blacksmith. He belonged to Cumberland Lodge 60, Knights of Pythias and the Dokkies. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Virginia Finn, Chicago, and Mrs. Cleona McMillian, city; two sons, John L Arbogast, this city, and George R. Arbogast, Monrova, Calif., and ten grandchildren.The body is at the Kight Funeral Home where friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m.

Hattie P. Arbogast, 78, Oakland, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 1999, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland. Born March 11, 1921, at Horse Shoe Run, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Clara V. (Roth) Harsh. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Arbogast, in 1986. Surviving are one son, Danny L. Arbogast, Oakland, and one brother, George Harsh, Kingwood, W.Va. There was no viewing, and a private interment will be held at a later date. The Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, was in charge of arrangements.

ARBOGAST, John L.

John L. Arbogast, 75, of 104 South Street, died Thursday at Sacred Heart Hospital. Born in Ridgeley, W.Va., Oct. 12, 1908, he was a son of the late George L. Arbogast and Minnie (Ross) Arbogast. Mr. Arbogast was employed as a bus driver for 42 years by the Potomac Edison Company and the Allegany County Transit Authority prior to his retirement. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the church choir, and the Good Fellowship Club. His wife was the late Mildred I. (Welsh) Arbogast. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Gilda C. Stewart, city, and Mrs. Joan C. Gray, Lexington, S.C.; one stepson, Raymond Welsh, Cumberland; a sister, Mrs. Cleona McMillan, city; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Grace United Methodist Church by the Rev. Lloyd McClarren. Interment will be in Davis Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Wade Jr., Paul Martin, William Stevenson, William Hough, Walter Henry, and Glenn Lambert.

ARBOGAST, Larry Lee

SHORT GAP, W.Va. - Larry Lee Arbogast, 63, of Short Gap, W.Va., passed away on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2012 at his residence. Born Feb. 21, 1948, in Pendleton County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Paul J. Arbogast and Mavis Vance Arbogast. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Emory Hartman. Larry retired and was a member of Teamsters Local 453. He also worked part time for Crites Transfer as a truck driver. Larry was the Secretary at the Western Maryland Coin Club. He enjoyed and loved his family of cats. Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Carlin Arbogast; two sisters, Linda L. Miller and husband Clinton, and Sandra Arbogast, both at Short Gap; special sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and many special nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, Cumberland, on Saturday. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Sunday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Benny R. Brakeall officiating. Interment will be in Fort Ashby Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Harry Neilson Sr., William Browning, Dave Thompson, Eric Clark and Mark White.

ARBOGAST, Miss Lulu

Miss Lulu Arbogast, of Circleville, Pendleton Co, a blind student at the D&B institution, died at 12 o'clock Friday night at the Institution after an indisposition of several years of nervous derangement. She was about 25 years of age and had attended the school for seven or eight years. Burial was in Indian Mount Cemetery Sunday afternoon, after a service at the grave, conducted by Rev. Nimrod Alkire.

ARBOGAST. Mrs. Mae Margaret Cline

Mrs. Mae Arbogast, 59, wife of George L. Arbogast, 326 Crawford street, died suddenly yesterday at the residence of her cousin. Marvin Orndoff, Wardensville, W. Va., where she had been visiting. She had been in ill health the past two years.  She was the daughter of the late Alfred and Lena (Giffin) Cline. Mrs. Arbogast was a member of Grace Methodist Church and a member of Manhattan Temple, Pythian Sisters.  Surviving besides her husband is a sister, Mrs. Stewart Bryan, Hampton, Va.; a brother, Cleland K. Cline, city, and several nieces and nephews. The body will remain at the Kight Funeral Home until 3 p. m. today when it will be taken to her residence.

L. Mae Ark, 99, Oakland, died Friday, May 23, 1997, at the Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home, Oakland. Born April 22, 1898, at Salt Lick, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Amos and Mary O. (Messenger) Hemrick. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harry E. Ark, in 1987, and by one daughter, Hazel F. Dillsworth. She was a member of the Crellin Assembly of God Church. Surviving are one daughter, Mildred A. Stemple, Aurora, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; and 32 great-great-grandchildren. Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, where a service; was conducted Monday, May 26, with the Rev. Gail Hixon officiating. Eugene W. Arklie, 59, of Meyersdale RD 3, died yesterday in Meyersdale Community Hospital. Born Jan 2, 1908, on Meyersdale RD, he was a son of the late John and Mary (Werner) Arklie. Surviving are his wife, Lottie (Bittner) Arklie, and a sister, Mrs. Alma McLaughlin, Meyersdale RD 3. The body is at the Price Funeral Home. A service will be held at the United Church of Christ in Pocahontas on Sunday afternoon, with Rev. James Killain officiating. Interment will be in Greenville cemetery.

MEYERSDALE - Mrs. Mary A. Arklie, 70, who died at her home here yesterday, will be conducted Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the Evangelical and Reformed Church, Pocahontas. Rev. J. Earl Dodds, pastor, will officiate, and interment will be in the Greenville Cemetery. A native of Meyersdale, she was a daughter of the late Christopher and Clarissa (Baer) Werner. Her husband, John Arklie, died in 1953. Survivors include a son, Eugene A. Arklie; a daughter, Mrs. Alma McLaughlin; a sister, Mrs. Annie Clark; and a brother, Simon Werner, all of here; and a grandchild. The body is at the Price Funeral Home here.

ARMATAGE, Mrs Agnes Beck

Agnes Beck Armatage, 98, Bonell Good Samaritan Center, died Thursday, June 8, at North Colorado Medical Center. She was born July 23, 1890, to Peter and Maria Beck, in Brookings, S.D. Mrs. Armatage attended Brookings High School and Nurses College. She was the chief operator for the Mountain Bell Telephone Co. in Pierce from 1924 until 1926. In 1925 she married Fred Armatage in Ault. They farmed east of Eaton for many years. They retired from farming and moved into Greeley. She had been a resident of Bonell Good Samaritan Center for the past 11 years. She was a member of the First Congregational Church and was a past member of the Order of Eastern Star. Survivors are a son, Kenneth Kerr, of Westwego, La.; numerous nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Ida Nelson and Texie Barber, both of Eaton. Memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. July 12 at Bonell Good Samaritan Center. Northern Colorado Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

ARMATAGE, George G.

George G. Armatage, 66, 2324 8th Ave., died Wednesday, Nov. 23, at Weld County General Hospital. He was born May 18, 1911, east of Eaton and attended Eaton schools. He worked at the Great Western Sugar Co., at Eaton and farmed with his father, Fred Armatage. In 1935, he began work with Home, Light and Power Co., and was a meter reader for 27 years. He worked at Cook's Drugstore from 1962 to 1971, when he retired. He was a former member of the Eaton Congregational Church, Watt Club and Greeley Lions Club. He is survived by his wife, the former Mae Bird, whom he married Aug. 3, 1935, in Greeley; a son, Fred R. Armatage; his stepmother, Mrs. Agnes Armatage of Greeley; an uncle, Roger Williams of Johnstown; two aunts, Misses Olive and Nemma Williams, both of Greeley, and a granddaughter. Family graveside services will be in Eaton Cemetery, with Macy Allnutt Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

CUMBERLAND — James Frederick Armbruster Sr., 68, of Cumberland, passed away Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, at his residence. Born Jan. 14, 1940, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Frederick William Armbruster and Mary Rita (Will) Armbruster. A graduate of LaSalle High School, class of 1958, Jim was a United States Marine Corps veteran and retired from the Pepsi Bottling Company. He was formerly employed with Pittsburgh Plate Glass. Jim was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church; the Mountainside Marine Corps League; and the Post 13 Combined Veterans Honor Guard. Jim is survived by his wife of 43 years, Rose Marie Armbruster; his sons, James F. Armbruster Jr. and David M. Armbruster; his daughter, Elizabeth Emerick and her husband Richard; his grandchildren, Heather and Seth Emerick, Ashley, Amber, and Adam Armbruster; his sisters, Ann Bartock and Monica Armbruster; and his brother, Thomas Armbruster, all of Cumberland. Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, Cumberland, on Sunday and on Monday. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated in SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church on Tuesday, at 10 a.m. with Father Bernard Finerty, O.F.M., Cap., as celebrant. ARMENTROUT, Mrs. Helen Marguerite Biddle

Helen Marguerite Armentrout, 83, of 222 Philos Ave., Westernport, Md., passed away Thursday, April 22, 2004, at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser. Born February 11, 1921, in Westernport, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Delphia (Dayton) Biddle. Her husband, John A. Armentrout, also preceded her in death on on July 23, 1996. Mrs. Armentrout was a homemaker. She leaves behind one son, John R. "Pete" Armentrout and wife Gay of Keyser; one daughter, Mary Morris and husband Lynn of Westernport; one sister, Leona Worgan of Moran Manor Nursing Home, Westernport; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Saturday. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Saturday at 1 p.m. Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport.

Elkins, WV, Sept 26- Mrs. Phoebe Ellen Armentrout, 72, widow of the late C. S. Armentrout, died yesterday morning, at her home on First Street, following a four weeks illness of diabetes. She was born in Pendleton County, a daughter of the late John M. and Catherine (Judy) Mullennix, and spent her early girlhood in that county. On December 4, 1883, she married C. S. Armentrout, and moved to Whitmer, where Mr. Armentrout became one of the largest stockmen and farmers in Randolph County. To this union was born the following children; Ollie E. Armentrout, now of Pittsburgh; Vista Grace, wife of O. J. Henkel, of Elkins; Carney S. Armentrout, of Elkins; Elva, wife of Frank Vansant, of Philadelphia; Austie A. who died at the age of four years; Viva, wife of J. M. Hackley, of Keyser, and Argie, deceased. Besides the sons and daughters, she is survived by seven grandchildren, Ailene, Mary Jo, and King Armentrout, of Pittsburgh; Margaret Lyons, and Mildred Henkel Rice, of Philadelphia, and Jane and Nancy Armentrout, of this city, and one great grandchild in Philadelphia. Mr. Armentrout retired in 1918, and moved to Elkins, where his death occurred seven years ago in November. Mrs. Armentrout was a member of the First Methodist Episcopal Church and a regular attendant in her church duties. She was the last of a family of 11 children, a sister passing away less than a year ago. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at the family residence on First Street. Interment by F. E. Runner will be in Maplewood Cemetery.

Mrs. Anna Armstrong, widow of William Armstrong, died at her home in Martinsburg, WV, Sunday, from progressive paralysis, after a lingering illness, aged 71 years. Surviving her are three daughters, Mrs. Joseph Murray, of Pittsburgh; Mrs. Thomas O'Neill of Johnstown, and Miss Nannie Armstrong, of Martinsburg. Mrs. Armstrong and her daughter, Miss Armstrong were frequent visitors to Cumberland.

MEYERSDALE, Pa. — Betty Margaret Albertus Armstrong, 79, formerly of Cumberland, died Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Golden Living, Meyersdale. Born April 17, 1934, in Vindex, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Florence (Hall) Armstrong. She was also preceded in death by a two sisters, Grace Armstrong and Sally McKenzie; two brothers, Harvey and Edward Armstrong Jr.  Betty is survived by two sisters, Hattie Grimm of Front Royal, Va., Frances Muir of LaVale; a brother, Clarence Armstrong of Laurel; also several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, Pa., on Wednesday from 6 to 7 p.m. where a funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor Richard Glass officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.

STAUNTON VA - Dr. Glasgow Armstrong died yesterday afternoon, aged 38 years. He was a native of Salem, Va., attended Roanoke College and Washington and Lee University and graduated in medicine from the University of the city of New York. He was a son of Dr. and Mrs. W. D. Armstrong, of this city, who survive him. He is survived also by his widow who was Miss Jessie Bowling, of this city, and one brother.

FRANKLIN, Feb. 24 - Glen Armstrong, aged about twenty-one years, son of Abel Armstrong, a well known farmer of Highland Co., Va., was killed Monday near Cow Pasture River. The young man had ridden a colt from home and later in the day the horse returned without his rider. Upon investigation, young Armstrong was found dead with a fractured skull and a broken jaw. An arm and leg were also broken. The young man was a nephew of John W Shaw, of our town.

Cumberland, MD - Herbert “Hum” Morgan Armstrong, Jr., 88, of Cumberland, MD, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at Allegany Health, Nursing, and Rehabilitation Center. Born January 16, 1926, in Cumberland, MD, Mr. Armstrong was the son of the late Herbert Morgan Armstrong, Sr., and Elizabeth Frances (Hutson) Armstrong. He was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law: Earl Shaffer. A United States Army Veteran during World War II, Hum retired from Unisys Corporation. After retirement, he worked at Shaffer Ford for many years. Hum is survived by his wife of 64 years: Mary Lee Armstrong; and his son: William "Bill" R. Armstrong and wife, Sandy, Lancaster, VA. Hum also leaves behind a brother: John Frank Armstrong and wife, Ruth, Frostburg, MD; a sister: Elizabeth “Betty" Shaffer, Arlington, VA; and a grandson: Daniel Armstrong and wife, Kathryn, Lancaster, VA. A committal service will be held at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap on Friday, February 7, 2014, at 11:00 A.M., with Chaplain Bob Lloyd officiating. Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Post #13 Veterans Honor Guard. Mrs. Ida May Armstrong, 49, of Cleveland, a former resident of Newark, died Tuesday afternoon at Cleveland, following a long illness. She is survived by her husband, Le Mar Armstrong, of 1370 Clear Aire road, Cleveland; her father, Charles Shuckhart, Pasadena, Calif., and two brothers, William Shuckhart of Crestline and Charles Shuckhart, Jr., of Elyria. Funeral services will be held in Cleveland, Thursday at 10 a. m. following which the body will be sent to the Gutliph & Henderson mortuary here. Services will be held here at the mortuary at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon. Interment will be made at Cedar Hill cemetery.

ARMSTRONG, Isaac G.

FORT ASHBY, W.Va. — Isaac G. "Ike" Armstrong, 71, of Meadow Lane, Fort Ashby, died Thursday, Aug. 4, 1994, at his home. Born on Oct. 26, 1922 in Morgantown, W.Va., he was the son of the late Walton Paul Armstrong (of the Bruceton Mills, W.Va. Armstrong Family) and Hazel (Feather) Armstrong. He was also preceded in death by one son, Ronald Allen Armstrong, who was born of a previous marriage to Shirley (Styron) Armstrong. Mr. Armstrong was a Methodist by faith and was a member of the Albright, W.Va. Methodist Church and was an active minister while attending West Virginia University. He attended West Virginia University and earned a B.S. degree at East Carolina University and was president of the Student Government Association while at the university. Mr. Armstrong was a veteran of World War II and served from Feb. 1, 1943 to Feb. 14, 1946 in the U.S. Air Force. After graduation, his major occupation was in the field of engineering with Dupont, Kohorn International. He retired from Hercules, Inc. (Allegany Ballistics Lab), after 25 years of service in 1985. While employed, he traveled over many parts of the world in association with his work. He was interested in environmental protection and preservation. He was past president of the West Virginia Wildlife Federation affiliated with the National Federation. Other interests were associated with outdoor activities, and he was a member of the Valley View Golf Association of Moorefield, W.Va. Surviving are his wife, Jeanette (Jones) Armstrong; two daughters, Robbyn Gayle Armstrong, at home; Tamela Wren Armstrong, by the previous marriage, who is married to David Shoupe, with one daughter, Audrey, Mr. Armstrong’s only grandchild, all of Mulberry, Fla., and two brothers, Ronald G. Armstrong and wife, Theresa, Greenspring, W.Va., and Max A. Armstrong and wife, Carolyn, Falls Church, Va. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, Cresaptown, on Friday. Services will be conducted at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Fort Ashby, on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. with Pastor Alvin L. Guyon officiating. Interment will be in Fort Ashby Cemetery.

ARMSTRONG, Mrs. Jeanette Jones

FORT ASHBY, W.Va. — Jeanette Armstrong , 63, of Meadow Lane, Fort Ashby, died Monday, Sept. 5, 1994, at Frostburg Extended Care Facility, Frostburg. She had been ill for six months. Born on July 20, 1931,in Frostburg, she resided for many years in Midland and was the daughter of the late Joseph W. “Joey” Jones and Alice C. (Landacre) Jones. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac G. Armstrong on Aug. 4, 1994, and one sister, Betty Faye Lannon. Mrs. Armstrong was a pianist for one-half century. She performed for many years under her maiden name, Jeanette Jones. She was a member of the American Federation of Musicians. In recent years, she performed with the Fort Ashby Rockettes, a vocal group, and performed for many years for nursing homes, churches and civic organizations. In recent holiday seasons, she and the Rockettes performed at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Martinsburg, W.Va. She attended Beall High School and received her GED certificate in Keyser, W.Va. in 1987. She also attended Catherman’s Business School in Cumberland. She managed the Employee’s Store at the Celanese Corporation in Cumberland for many years. She was an active member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Fort Ashby, and was active in many facets of church life including pianist, member of the choir and secretary of the United Methodist Women. She previously was an active member of the Grace Methodist Church, Midland. Surviving are one daughter, Robbyn Gayle Armstrong, Fort Ashby; three sisters, Elma Layman, Frostburg; Brenda Kooken and husband, Brown Lee Kooken, Upper Marlboro; JoRetha Scouten and husband, the Rev. Wesley Scouten, Smithsburg; two brothers, J. Neil Jones, Midland; Jesse Marshall Jones, Bluefield, W.Va.; many nieces and nephews and countless friends. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, Cresaptown, on Tuesday. Services will be conducted at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Fort Ashby, on Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Wesley Scouten and Pastor Alvin L. Guyon officiating. Interment will be in Fort Ashby Cemetery.

John M. Armstrong, 73, merchant, of Rawlings, died last night at Allegany Hospital, where he had been a patient since Aug 19. Besides his widow, Mrs. Etta Armstrong, he is survived by three sons, Clement R. and Herbert M. Armstrong, both of Rawlings, and Robert H. Armstrong, Washington, D. C. and by two daughters, Mrs. George J. Selvey, Wheeling, WV. The body was taken to Stein's Chapel and will be removed to the home today.

ARMSTRONG, Mrs. Josephine Hoye

Mountain Lake Park, Md., Nov. 28 - Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. Josephine Armstrong, 60, who died Monday after an illness of several years.Mrs. Armstrong was a native of Sang Run, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William H. Hoye. Shortly after the Spanish war, she followed her brother, Charles E. Hoye, to the Philippine Islands.In Albay, P. I., she was united in marriage to Capt. George L. Armstrong, and to this union were born four children in Manilla. In 1914, Mrs. Armstrong’s health begain to fail and it was advised that she return to the states. This she did, taking up residence in South Dakota and later in California.Services were conducted at the Sang Run Methodist Church by the Rev. Garrett Evans, of the Methodist Church at Mt. Lake Park. Interment was at Sang Run.Survivors are three sons, Dr. William H. Armstrong, Bowie; Albert Armstrong, Pomona, Calif., and Robert L. Armstrong, of the U. S. Marine Corps; one sister, Mrs. Helen Enlow, Zion City, Ill.; and a brother, Charles E. Hoye, Mt. Lake Park.Pallbearers were William Hoye, Ralphy Hoye, G. E. Hoye, Wilbur Hoye, Frank Hoye, and Martin Friend, cousins.

Lenneyville, W.Va. - Mrs. Pleasant (Peg) Armstrong, 71, of RD 2, Lenneyville, near Chester, died Monday at 12:20 a.m. in the East Liverpool City Hospital. Daughter of the late John and Anna Elizabeth Winebrenner Crawford, she was born in Mt. Savage, Md., Feb. 28, 1900, and had resided in the area since 1925. She married William (Rube) Armstrong Sept. 25, 1925. Mrs. Armstrong attended the Chester Church of Christ, and was a member of the Gold Star Mothers of East Liverpool. Surviving are her husband; two sons, Albert R. of East Liverpool and Robert J. Lashley of Mt. Savage; four daughters, Mrs. Richard (Kathleen) Beard of Fontana, Calif., Miss Maxine Armstrong of Carpinteria, Calif., Mrs. Bill (Elton) Schon of Chester and Mrs. George (Joan) Phillips of Punxsutawney, Pa.; one brother, Albert Cassidy (I believe it should be half-brother, Albert Casserly) of Baltimore, Md.; one sister, Mrs. Evelyn Murphy of Chester; 24 grandchildren and 18 great-granchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesdaly[sic] at 2 p.m. in the Matin Funeral Home, East Liverpool, with Evangelist Frank Higginbotham officiating. A native of here, she was born February 28, 1900, a daughter of the late John Crawford and Anna Elizabeth (Winebrenner) Crawford. She was a member of the Gold Star Mothers' Club and was a member of Chester, W. Va., Church of Christ. Surviving are her husband William R. Armstrong; two sons, Robert J. Lashley, of here, and Albert Armstrong, East Liverpool; three daughters, Miss Maxine Armstrong, Carpenteria, Calif.: Mrs. Elton Schon, Chester, W. ARMSTRONG, William Rube

William R. (Rube) Armstrong, 80 of the Lennyville Rd., south of Newell, died at his home Sunday at 6 a.m. following a years illness. Mr. Armstrong was born May 6, 1896, in Barber (sic) County, WVa., a son of Garnet Lee Armstrong and Arleva Triplett Armstrong. He had worked as a coal miner until 1950 and then as a kiln drawer at the Homer Laughlin China Co., retiring in 1968. He was married to Pleasant O'Hanlon Armstrong in 1924. She died March 1, 1971. Survivors include a son, Albert Armstrong of East Liverpool; four daughters, Mrs. Richard (Kathleen) Beard of Massilon, Mrs. William (Maxine) LeDoux of Santa Barbara, Calif., Mrs. Blaine (Elton) Schon of Chester and Mrs. George (Joan) Phillips of Mayport PA.; a brother, Swaze Armstrong of East Liverpool; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.  Services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Martin Funeral Home by the Rev. Donald Shank of the First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Locust Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday afternoon and night.

Pendleton County News, Franklin Dec 9th - W. C. Kiser, of Ruddle, received a telegram Monday announcing the death of his granddaughter, Mrs. Vergie Armstrong, of Indiana. Mrs. Armstrong was a former resident of our town and a successful teacher. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Kiser, now of Woodstock, Va.

Frank Allan Arnett, 59, Aurora, W.Va., died Monday, June 24, 1991, at Preston Memorial Hospital, Kingwood, W.Va. Born December 11, 1931, in Amboy, W.Va., he was a son of the late Dwight W. Arnett, and Marie (Strawser) Arnett, Oakland. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, . Bernadette (Ball) Arnett; one son, Danny A. Arnett, Aurora; one daughter, Alice A. Strawser, Amboy; five brothers, James Arnett, Clarksburg, W.Va.; Raymond Arnett, Martinsburg, W.Va.; Fred Arnett, Howell, Mich.; Donald Arnett, Aurora; and Joseph Arnett, Albuquerque, : N.M.; two sisters, Alice Proudfoot and Phyllis Stemple, both of Oakland; and two grandsons. Fred L. Arnett, 71, of Howell, Michigan died Monday, March 17, 1997 at West Palm Beach, Florida. He was born November 28, 1925, at Amboy, a son of Dwight and Marie Strawser Arnett. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Howell, Michigan; three sons, Rick of California, Jeff and David of Michigan; one sister, Phyllis Stemple of Oakland, MD; four brothers, James of Clarksburg, WV, Raymond of Martinsburg, WV, Donald of Amboy, WV, Joe of Bemaillo, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. Funeral services and interment were conducted Friday, March 21, in Howell, Michigan.

James "Jim" Wesley Arnett, 86, of Clarksburg, and a resident of Talbott's Personal Care Home in Belington, departed this life Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010, at United Hospital Center, Bridgeport. He was born in Amboy, WV, on Nov. 26, 1923, a son of the late Dwight Lawton Arnett and Nellie Marie Stawser Arnett. Mr. Arnett was a member of First United Methodist Church, Clarksburg. He retired from Borden Dairy, Clarksburg. Mr. Arnett served his country during World War II as a surgical technician in the U.S. Army. He loved hunting and fishing, and enjoyed meeting with friends daily at the Go Mart in Clarks burg. Surviving are a son, Dr. James Allen Arnett & his wife Sharon, Philippi; three brothers, Raymond Arnett, Martinsburg, Donald Arnett, Aurora, and Joe Arnett, Bernalillo, NM; four grandchildren, Jennifer Joy Russell, Timothy James Arnett, Amy Jean Arnett and Grace "Nicole" Arnett; and two great-grandchildren, Matthew Scott Russell and Jordyn Joy Russell. His wife, Wilma "Jean" Chambers Arnett, preceded him in death on Sept. 6, 2009. He also was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. Friends will be received at Davis-Weaver Funeral Home, 329 E. Main St., Clarksburg, from 6-9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 22, until the 1 p.m. funeral service with the Rev. Elizabeth Baker presiding. Interment will be in West Virginia National Cemetery, Pruntytown, with full military honors accorded.

Raymond Webster Arnett, 87, of Martinsburg, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2012, at Reeders Memorial Home. Born Dec. 5, 1924, in Amboy, WV, he was the son of the late Dwight Lawton and Marie Strawser Arnett. He was a Berkeley County administrator with the USDA Farm Service. He started his career as a farmer and milk tester with the tricounty area. Mr. Arnett was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church; a volunteer with Senior Services, Meals-on-Wheels, and served as treasurer with the Dillon Farm Museum. He is survived by his son, Dwight S. Arnett of Bellflower, lL; two daughters, Sue Carlisle of Salem and Deborah "Debbie" Hartley of Martinsburg; six grandchildren; a step, granddaughter; a great grandson; and two brothers, Donald Arnett of Aurora and Joe Arnett of Albuquerque, NM. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Mae Arnett, and six siblings. Services will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church at 11 a.m. Friday, June 15, with the Rev. James D. Riley, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the funeral service. Word was received here of the death of Robert Arnett, 68, of Seattle, Wash., who died there on Thursday, January 11, following heart attacks and a stroke, He was born June 10, 1921, a son of Ayris and Marie Arnett and was reared by his grandmother and aunts in Aurora. He graduated from Aurora High School. He is survived by a sister, Ruth Enoch, of Parkersburg, two brothers, Richard, Seattle, and Hood, of the Parkersburg vicinity.

ARNETT, Wilma Jean Chambers

Wilma Jean Arnett, 81, of Clarksburg, died Sunday, September 6, 2009, in United Hospital Center. She was born December 23, 1927, in Rowlesburg, a daughter of the late Lester Frank Chambers and Virginia Grace Wable Chambers. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, in Clarksburg. She enjoyed playing the organ and piano. She is survived by her husband, James "Jim" Wesley Arnett; a son and spouse, Dr. James Allen and Sharon Arnett, of Philippi; a sister, Leanna Faye Lipscomb, of Cottageville; four grandchildren; and a great grandson. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Earl Chambers and Leonard  Chambers. Funeral services were held Friday, September 11, at Davis Weaver Funeral Home, with the Rev. Elizabeth Baker officiating. Interment was in the WV National Cemetery.

ARNHALT, Dallas

MT STORM = A very sad death occurred in this community last Thurs when Dallas Aronhalt answered to the "Roll Call Up Yonder". He was taken with that dreaded disease, Scarlet Fever, on Sun in a very malignant form, and was sick only four days. He said he did not want to get well and almost absolutely refused to take medicine. Dallas was the younger son of Mary E and D W Aronhalt. He had but recently passed his 18th birthday, and bid fair to live many years. Thus again we are reminded that youth is no security against death. Our sympathies go out to the bereaved parents. Their little daughter, Helen, now has the same disease but seems to be getting along very nicely. Mr Aronhalt is also confined with symptoms of the same disease.
