Mrs. Obed Babb, of Martin, who has been spending some time with her mother, was called home this morning by phone. A son was born last night to her son Ernest and wife, and the infant died immediately. Mrs. Arch Jordan accompanied Mrs. Babb home. F. H. Babb took them up in his auto Monday morning.

George Robert Bach, 65, of RD 1, Cumberland, died yesterday at Sacred Heart Hospital where he had been a patient two days. Born in Accident, he was a son of the late Henry and Effie Catherine (Georg) Bach. An Air Force veteran of World War II, he was a member of Grantsville American Legion; the Cove Lutheran Church; Kemp Lodge AF and AM, Rebecca Arnold OES Chapter 57, Mt. Savage; Ali Ghan Shrine Club, Scottish Rite bodies, Past Masters Association, Cumberland. Surviving are his widow, Pauline (Shroyer) Bach; a daughter, Mrs. Judith Lowdermilk, Bowling Green; a son, John I. Williams, Rolling Meadows, Illinois; a brother, Owen Bach, Accident; eight sisters, Mrs. Nellie Collier, Mrs. Cora Georg, Mrs. Louise Richter, Mrs. Florence Deniker, Mrs. Mary Zinkan, Mrs. Orpha Miller, Accident; Mrs. Alverta Wilhelm, Listonburg, Pa.; Mrs. Ora Younkin, Grantsville; and five grandchildren. The body is at the Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, where friends will be received tomorrow from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m. An OES memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow, followed by a Masonic service at 8 p.m.

John Bachman, 72, brother of County Commissioner Henry A. Bachman, died last night at his home, 516 North Mechanic street, following a protracted illness. He was a life-long resident of this city and had conducted a meat market prior to his retirement about fifteen years ago. Mr. Bachman is also survived by his widow, who was Miss Anna E. Raley, and by two sisters, Mrs. F. William Flurshutz and Mrs. H. U. F. Flurshutz of this city. He was a member of Ohr Lodge No. 131, A. F. and A. Masons, and of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be held Friday at 3:30 p.m. Services will be held at the home with the Masons in charge.

BACHMAN, Louis Vincent

Louis Vincent Bachman, 21 years old, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Bachman, North Mechanic street, died at 5 o'clock this morning at the Western Maryland Hospital. Typhoid fever was the cause of death. He had been ill but ten days and was not thought to have been in a serious condition until yesterday. He was removed from his home to the Hospital yesterday morning and operated upon at once. Mr. Bachman was one of the best known and well liked young men in the city. He had a genial disposition and happy temperament. He was a plumber in the employ of the MacFarland Plumbing and Heating Company. He was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Bachman. Mrs. Bachman was formerly Miss Annie Raley of Frostburg. The funeral will be held from the German Lutheran Church of which he was a member. The time will be announced later.

Harold Van "Buzz" Bachtel, 82, Oakland, died on Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, at his home. Born Dec. 19, 1929, in Oakland, he was a son of the late John Lee and Lena Catherine (Shaffer) Bachtel. He was also preceded in death by one grandchild, Cheston Van Bachtel; one sister, Grace Marie Ault; and two brothers, Bernard Keith Bachtel and John Lee Bachtel. He worked in construction as a self-employed builder and Christmas tree farmer. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Red House. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Barbara (Warsaw) Bachtel; five sons, Gary Allan Bachtel and wife Debbie, Washington state, Gayle Andrew Bachtel, Oakland, Carroll Van Bachtel, Grantsville, Ricky Linn Bachtel and wife Tracey, Aurora, W.Va., and Randy Lee Bachtel and wife Susan, Westminster; a dear friend whom Harold treated as a son, Shaun Sanders and wife Clara, Oakland, and their daughters, Stacy, Karie, and Tonya; granddaughters Jana Kirk, Jodie Lynch, Jennifer Robinson, Keri Bachtel, Bethany Bachtel, and Marissa Bachtel; grandsons, who will also serve as pallbearers, Justin Bachtel, Jason Bachtel, Andrew Bachtel, Brooks Bachtel, Nathan Bachtel, and Zachary Bachtel; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters Helen Nine and Patricia Ryland; and one brother-in-law, Bruce Warsaw. Lola Seifarth Bachtel, 102, died Saturday, June 20, 2009, in Davis Memorial Hospital, Elkins, W.Va., one day short of her 103rd birthday. She was born in Eckhart on June 21, 1906, daughter of the late William E. and Matilda Porter Seifarth. Her husband, Carl D. Bachtel, preceded her in death in 1983. She was a 1926 education graduate of Frostburg State Normal School (now Frostburg State University). Her first teaching position was in the one-room Gauer School in Garrett County. She also taught at Oakland and Southern high schools before moving to Aberdeen, where she taught in elementary schools until her retirement in 1968. Mrs. Bachtel was a long-time member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church at Red House. She was also preceded in death by three sisters. She is survived by two daughters, Lois Ann Serafin, Philippi, W.Va., and Mary Grace DePollo, Elkins; four grandchildren; and seven great-grand-children. Friends were received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Oakland. A funeral service was conducted at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Red House, on Wednesday, June 24, with Rev. Alan Schwarz presiding. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Frostburg, June 3 — Word was received here of the death May 25 of Mrs. William Bacon, the former Miss Irene Wade, of this city, at her home, 120 Spencer street, Peoria, Illinois. Mrs. Bacon was a daughter of the late Henry and Mary Wade. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Mary Blocher, of Garrett county, and Mrs. Rose Bayns, of Kansas City, Kansas, and a brother, Wilbur Wade, of Frostburg. Services were held and interment made on May 27 in Peoria.

MEYERSDALE—Miss Amanda Baer, 89, of RD 3, Meyersdale, died yesterday at her home. Born in Greenville Township, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Elizabeth (Fullem) Baer. She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Matilda Baer, RD 3, Meyersdale, and Mrs. Sarah Baer, RD, Meyersdale, and a number of nieces and nephews. MEYERSDALE, Pa. —Andrew E. Baer, 86, former justice of the peace of Greenville Township, died yesterday at his home, RD 3, Meyersdale, after, a long illness. A native of Greenville Township, he was a son of the late Elisha and Polly (Beal) Baer. His wife, Mary B.(Yutzy) Baer, preceded him in death. Mr. Baer was justice of the peace for 40 years and served a number of years as tax collector. He was a member of Greenville Lutheran Church and served as musical director for the church for 50 years. He is survived by six children, Rev. Dallas Baer, Norwood; Mrs. Pearl Baer and Mrs. Ray Shockey, both of RD 3, Meyersdale, and Mrs. Floyd Stanton and Lee and Albert Baer, all of Akron, Ohio; a brother, Owen J. Baer, RD 3, Meyersdale; a sister Mrs. Belinda Miller, RD 3, Meyersdale; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Services will be conducted Saturday at 10:30 a. m. at Greenville Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Greenville Cemetery. The body is at the residence and will be taken to the church at 9:30 a. m. Saturday.

Mrs. Anna M. (Loraditch) Baer, 78, wife of the late Herman Baer died this morning at Allegany Hospital, where she had been a patient since November 30. She is survived by six daughters, Mrs. W. H. Hast and Mrs. M. J. Malone, Cumberland; Mrs. W. H. Werner and Mrs. Jesse Garlitz, Mt Savage; Mrs. W. F. Donley, New Castle, Pa.; and Mrs. Hugh J. McKenzie, Akron, Ohio; and two sons, Dewey Baer, Akron, and Clifford A. Baer, Pontiac, Mich.; two brothers, William H. Loraditch, Hinton, Iowa; and Andrew Loraditch, Oakland; 29 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Mt. Savage, and the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Born in Greenville Township, she was a daughter, of the late Paul and Lavina (Deal) Werner. She was twice married and both of her husbands, Albert Baker and George W. Baer, preceded her in death. Mrs. Baer was a member of St. Mark's United Church of Christ. She is survived by a foster son, El cede Baker, RD 2, Meyersdale; five step-sons, Ray E. The funeral service for Daniel Bruce Baer of 111 Hyndman Street, South Connellsville, who died Monday morning in Connellsville State Hospital, will be held at 2:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Brooks funeral home in 204 West Green street with Rev. Edward J. Hatchner, pastor of the Assembly of God Church at South Connellsville, officiating. Interment will be in Mount Olive Cemetery. He was born June 10, 1873, at Zanesville, Ohio, a son of the late John and Fannie Baer and his early life was spent in Somerset county, having lived for the past several years in South Connellsville. Mr. Baer was a retired brakeman, having been employed by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad for 43 years. He retired 12 years ago. He was a member of the Brotherhoodr of Railroad Trainmen and a social member of South Connellsville Volunteer Fire Company. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mollie E. Baer; one son, Cletus of Washington, D.C.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one half-sister, Mrs. Martha Darrah, and one half-brother, James Brooks of Meyersdale. One daughter, Mrs. Margaret B. Rugg, preceded him in death.

Edna Mae Baer, 75, St. Paul Road, Salisbury, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005, at Conemaugh Memorial Hospital, Johnstown. Born Oct. 26, 1929, in St. Paul, she is the daughter of the late Harry and Effie (Bodes) Rhoden. She is preceded in death by her husband, George W. Baer, June 18, 1998. Surviving is one daughter, Kathy L. Baer, Salisbury. Mrs. Baer was a retired clerk for Hill Top Fruit Market, Grantsville, Md. and prior to that was a seamstress for Meyersdale Manufacturing Co. She was a member of Meyersdale VFW 3504 Auxiliary and Casselman Valley Sportsmen's Club.

SALISBURY, Pa. - Mrs. Eileen Baer, 85, wife of Owen Baer, died Friday. She was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Albright) Brown. Survivors include seven children: Charles A., William F., Joseph E., RD 3, Meyersdale; Homer O., Akron, Ohio; Robert H., Salisbury; Mrs. Lottie Gaumer, RD Frostburg; and Mrs. Margaret Gross, Frederick; two brothers, Peter and Hiram Brown, RD 3, Meyersdale; 37 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren. Rites were held yesterday at Greenville Lutheran Church, with interment in Greenville Cemetery.

Mrs. W.H. (Ella) Baer, 82, of 209 West Washington Avenue, died at Connellsville State Hospital at 1:25 p.m., Thursday where she was admitted Monday after a cerebral hemorrhage. She was born in South Connellsville Oct. 8, 1874, the daughter of Edward and Hannah Brierly Collins. She lived in this vicinity all of her life and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She leaves her husband; a son, Roland of Dawson; two daughters, Mrs. Ray (Leona) Schmitz of Erie and Mrs. W.F. (Ruth) Albrecht of Washington, D.C.; seven grandchildren; two brothers, George of Lorain, Ohio and Frank of South Connellsville, and a sister, Mrs. Eva Tissue of South Connellsville. The body will be at the Brooks funeral home at 7 o'clock tonight where funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday with the Rev H. Wahl Pfeifer officiating. Burial will be made at Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville.

Erna (Suder) Baer, 91, of Meyersdale died Jan. 24, 1995, at Meyersdale Medical Center. Born April 20, 1903, in Meyersdale. A daughter of the late Calvin and Elizabeth Catherine (Weimer) Suder. Also preceded in death by husband, Glenn E., in 1984; two brothers, Miles and Norman; and three sisters, Freda Robertson and Lepha and Edna Suder. Survived by two sisters: Sophia Adams of Melbourne Beach, Fla., and Mary, wife of William Crowe, of Berlin. Five nieces and nephews. Member of the Presbyterian Church of Naples, Fla. Past matron of Eastern Star. Past president of Ladies of the Noble of Naples, Fla. Interment will be Friday in Union Cemetery with Pastor Carl P. Mitchell officiating. MEYERSDALE, Pa. — George Charles Baer, 57, owner of Baer and Company Store here, died Tuesday in Meyersdale Community Hospital. Mr. Baer was born in Meyersdale, a son of the late C. Peter and Maggie (Liberty) Baer. He was a member of Main Street Brethren Church. Surviving are three sisters, Misses Pearl and Mabel Baer and Mrs. Richard Bowman, all of here. The body is at the Price Funeral Home where services will be conducted tomorrow.  Burial will be at the IOOF Cemetery in Berlin.

A 72-year-old Meyersdale, Pa. man died Sunday in Meyersdale Community Hospital after being hospitalized almost eight years with injuries sustained in a train accident. The man, George E. Baer spent two and one-half years in Memorial Hospital here after he was injured August 25, 1952 after falling off a moving train near Cumberland. He was then transferred to Meyersdale Community Hospital where he was a patient until his death Sunday. Mr. Baer was employed as a conductor for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Conductors. A native of Meyersdale, he was born October 3, 1887, a son of the late Daniel and Sarah Werner Baer. He was a member of the United Church of Christ. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mary (Keefer) Baer; four sons, Lea E. and Ottie D. Baer, both of Meyersdale; Glenn H. Baer, Baltimore, and Allen Baer, Washington; a daughter, Miss Mary T. Baer, Washington; a brother, Ezra Baer, Somerset; three sisters, Miss Emma Baer, Miss Susan N. Baer, and Mrs. Edith Keefer, all of Meyersdale; and four grandchildren. The body will be taken to the United Church of Christ for services at 4 p. m. by Rev. Marvin E. Heath. Interment will be in the church cemetery tomorrow.

BAER, Mrs. Gertrude Doppelheuer

Gertrude Doppelheuer Baer, 93, of Connellsville, died Monday, Feb. 8, 1999 in the LaFayette Manor, Uniontown. She was born March 25, 1905 in Connellsville, a daughter of the late Henry Fredrick and Christina Brinkman Doppelheuer. She was a graduate of Connellsville High School and she was a graduate in 1927 of the Greensburg Nursing School. She was employed as a nurse at the Westmoreland Medical Hospital and Connellsville Hospital for many years She later worked as a private duty nurse in the Connellsville area. She also owned and operated, with her late husband, Baer's Dairy Bar in Dawson for many years and she was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Connellsville. She is survived by three sons, R. Robert Baer and his wife, Nancy, and William H. Baer and his wife, Mary Catherine, all of Connellsville, and Donald E. Baer and his wife, Linda, of Morgantown, W. Va.; eight grandchildren, Stacey Sennett and her husband, Scott, of Uniontown, Dr. William Baer and his wife, Sue, of Grand Rapids, Mich., Donald Baer of Greenville, S.C., Robert Baer and his wife, Jamie, of Connellsville, Christ Baer of York, Kelly Baer of Salem, VA., Rachel Baer of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Jason Baer of Pittsburgh; three great-grandchildren, William Baer III, Michael Baer and Lauren Baer; and one sister, Mrs. John (Florence) Ebbert of Connellsville. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Roland E. ORANGE CITY, Fla. - Glenn Byron Baer, 62, of Orange City, died Wednesday, Dec. 16,1992 m Orange City. Bom May 18, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of the late Byron and Mary (Shumaker) Baer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth (Villa) Baer. Mr. Baer was a veteran of the Korean War and was retired from the Cooper & Jarrett Trucking Company. Survivors inlcude four sisters, Rita Heinbaugh, York, Pa., Lois Welch, Janesville, Wis., Katie Berarducci, West Newton, Pa., and Anita Klink, Garrett, Pa. ; two brothers. BAER, Glenn E.

Glenn E. Baer, 77, Naples, Fla., died Jan. 31, 1984, in Naples. He was born Feb. 23, 1906, in Meyersdale, a son of the late Phillip S. and Carrie (Walker) Baer. He is survived by his wife, Erna (Suder) Baer; and a sister. Irene, wife of Carl Brehn, Cape Coral, Fla. He was a former employee of the Duquesne Light Company, Pittsburgh. He was a member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church, Naples, a member of the F and AM Lodge 678 and of the Scottish Rite Valley of Fort Myers; Rabo Shrine Temple, Fort Myers; Marco Allen Shrine Club, past president of the Naples Shrine Club; and a life member of the Duquesne Light Supervisors Association. Friends were received at the Leckemby Funeral Home. Services were held with the Rev. Carl P. Mitchell officiating. Interment, Union Cemetery.

MEYERSDALE, April 7—The body of Mrs. Grace Evelyn Baer, aged 36, who died in Akron, Ohio, was received Sunday and taken to the home of her father, Andrew Baer in Greenville township by Undertaker W. C. Price. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the Greenville Lutheran Church, with Rev. S. D. Sigler of Salisbury officiating. Besides her husband, R. E. Baer, she is survived by two small children, her father and the following brothers and sisters: Rev. D. C. Baer, pastor of the College Church in Selius Grove, Pa., Carl, Lee and Albert of Akron, Ohio, and Mrs. Nellie Shockey of Greenville.

MEYERSDALE, Pa. — Homer R. Baer, 65, of Baltimore, a former resident of Meyersdale, died Saturday at St. Joseph's Hospital, Baltimore. A native of Meyersdale, he was a son of the late John A. and Margaret (Ross) Baer. Surviving are his widow, Valeria (Diehl) Baer; three children, Mrs. Jean Smith and Samuel L. and Cornelius Baer, all of Baltimore, and two brothers, John W. Baer, Shady Side, Md., and Lewis Baer, Akron, Ohio. The body will be at the Price Funeral Home after 7 p.m. today. Services will be conducted there Wednesday at 11 a.m. by Rev. V. A. Cassidy. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.

MEYERSDALE — Mrs. Irene E. Baer, 62, died yesterday at Meyersdale Community Hospital. A native of Salisbury, she was a daughter of the late Grant and Orpha (Rubwright) Thomas. She was a member of Amity United Church of Christ. Surviving are her husband, Leo L. Baer; a daughter, Mrs. Paul Wilt, Frederick, Md.; three brothers, Kenneth Thomas, here; Paul Thomas, Baltimore, and Ray Thomas, Shreve port, a sister, Mrs. Harry Younkin, Rockwood, and four grandchildren. The body is at the Price Funeral Home where friends will be received today. A service will be conducted there Saturday at 11 a.m. Rev. Lloyd Sechriest will officiate and burial will be in SS. Philip and James Cemetery.

FROSTBURG — Joseph G. (Sam) Baer, 60, Finzel, died Thursday at his residence. He was born in Finzel, a son of the late Bertrand and Clara (Finzel) Baer. Mr. Baer was a retired employe of the Fike Vault Service and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Pocahontas. Surviving are his widow, Mary (Baker) Baer; two sisters, Mrs. Kathleen Layman and Mrs. Beulah Wolford, both of Finzel, and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday in St. Michael's Catholic Church, with interment in Finzel Cemetery. A Christian wake service will be conducted at 8 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Dale Wolford, Bernard Wolford, Robert Sturtz, Dale Lee Sturtz, Dale Whitehead and William McKenzie.

Leetta Mae Baer, 101, of Salisbury, PA, died Thursday, May 12, 2016, at Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville, MD. Born August 28, 1914, in Greenville Twp., PA, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Annie (Bare) Arnold. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Marshall F. Baer, May 1, 1981; six brothers, Harvey, Albert, Clyde, Frank, William and Owen Arnold; two sisters, Mary Gerhart and her twin, Leora Wilhelm; one grandson, Gerald Emmart and one great-granddaughter, Lauren Rountree. Mrs. Baer was a homemaker. She was a member of the Greenville Lutheran Church, the ladies aid and was a choir member for over 40 years. She is survived by two sons, Harold Baer and wife, Norma, Eckhart, MD; Ray Baer and wife, Jeannene, Vandergrift, PA; four daughters, Beulah Emmart and husband, Davey, Springfield, WV; Phyllis Farrell and husband, Ben, Glen Burnie, MD; Donna Robinette and husband, Brian and Debbie Berkley and husband, Rod, all of Salisbury; 17 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Inc., 9168 Mason-Dixon Hwy., Salisbury, on Sunday, May 15, 2016. Funeral Service will be conducted in the Greenville Lutheran Church on Monday, May 16, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Ingrid Chenoweth and Pastor David Terlizzi officiating. Mrs. Lizzie Baer, wife of Simon Baer of Greenville Township, died at her home on Sunday, May 5th at 6:00 p.m. She was ill of pneumonia for a week before her death, and has been in poor health and often bedfast for the last five years. She was 77 years, 1 month and 15 days old at her death. She was born in Greenville Township on March 20, 1869, daughter of Christian and Magdalina (Warner) Paul. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters; Alverda, wife of Albert N. Conaway of Akron, Ohio, and Alwilda, wife of Gilbert H. Ludlow of Cleveland, Ohio; one son, Milton S. Baer, at home; one sister, Louise, wife of Edward Rickard of Meyersdale Route 3; and four brothers, Calvin Paul, Route 3, Meyersdale; Adam Paul, Route 2, Frostburg, Md.; Henry Paul and Harman Paul of Philadelphia. She was married to Mr. Baer in Salisbury on January 16, 1912 by Rev. E. S. Johnston. She was a life-long and faithful member of the Greenville Lutheran Church. Funeral services were conducted in the Greenville Lutheran Church at 1:30 on Wednesday, May 8th, with her pastor, Rev. George E. Bowersox, Jr., officiating. Interment in the church cemetery in charge of Mortician Stanley M. Thomas.

Luther Young Baer, 56, of 500 Linden Street, died at Allegany Hospital, Sunday morning, to become the third victim of Cumberland's mysterious explosion on North Centre street. Baer's death came as a surprise as it was believed he was improving. Miss Matilda F. Kenney and Dr. John A. Crist were the first two victims. Mr. Baer received a fractured left arm, cuts and bruises and burns. A brother-in-law, Henry C. Wagner, owner of the wrecked meat market, said Baer was pinned to the floor of the market by a huge timber. According to Wagner, Baer cut himself free and worked his way to the rear of the store. He called for Carl Wagner and Ray Morrissey, and after receiving no answer, left the back entrance. He was found unconscious. He made his home with his sister, Mrs. Wagner, 500 Linden street, since the death of his mother, the late Amanda (Lybarger) Baer, of near Hyndman, Pa. Baer was a native of Keystone, Pa., near Hyndman, where he was formerly employed at a brickyard. He assisted Wagner in raising homeing pigeons and frequently handled the smoking of meats and other duties in the market upon Wagner's absence. He was noted for his skill in trout fishing. He was reputed to have known every type of flies used in casting for trout. He is survived by a brother, Harry Baer, of Meyersdale, Pa.; three sisters, Mrs. Henry C. Wagner, this city; Mrs. Elmer Bush, Bloomington; Mrs. John Yergan, this city;. His father, the late Nathaniel Baer, died some years ago. The body is at the home of his sister, Mrs. H. C. Wagner, 500 Linden street. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon with burial in Meyersdale, Pa.

MEYERSDALE — Services for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Baer, 67, who died yesterday at her home here, will be conducted Saturday at 2:30 p; m. in the Price Funeral Home by Rev. Charles Staub. Interment will be in Union Cemetery. A native of Youngstown, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Hiram and Martha (Gorsich) Cozens. Survivors include five sons, Byron Baer, Rockwood, Pa.; Raymond Baer, Pittsburgh; Harold Baer, Charleroi, Pa.; James Baer, at home, and William Baer, Cumberland; three daughters, Mrs. Martha Fike, LaVale; Mrs. Mary Bolden, Mt. Pleasant; and Mrs. Bruce Cogan, Somerset; 20 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The body is at the Price Funeral Home here.

MEYERSDALE - Raymond H. Baer, 57, was dead on arrival yesterday at Meyersdale Community Hospital. Born here, he was a son of the late William P. and Mary E. (Cozzin) Baer. He was a life member of the Blawnox Fire Company, a former employe of Blawnox Steel Co., and former owner of a service station there. He is survived by his wife, the former Irene M. Ecker; a son, Edward R. Monroeville, Pa.; three daughters, Mrs. Ann Degitz, Blawnox, Pa.; Mrs. Joyce Wolfe, Valencia, and  Mrs. Joan Wikert, New Kennsington; three sisters, Mrs. Quintner Fike and Mrs. Eugene Bolden, both of LaVale, and Mrs. William Cogan, Phoenix, Ariz.; four brothers, Byron, of Rockwood; James. RD 2, Meyersdale; Harold, Charlerois, and William, Cumberland; and 10 grandchildren. The body will be at the Price Funeral Home.

BAER, Roland E.

Roland E. Baer, 75, of 209 W. Washington Ave., died at 12:30 a.m. today, April 6, 1976 at Frick Community Hospital, Mount Pleasant. He was born March 4, 1901, in Connellsville, a son of the late W. H. and Ella Collins Baer. He had lived most of his life in Connellsville, was graduated from Connellsville High School, attended California Normal School and the University of Michigan and taught several years in Connellsville elementary schools. He had operated a dairy store in Dawson from 1951 to 1958 and was a branch manager for the Knights Life Insurance Company, later the American General Life Insurance Company, from where he retired in 1962. He was associated with the Lutheran church. Surviving are his wife, Gertrude Doppelhauer Baer; three sons, Roland R., William H., and Donald E., all of Connellsville; eight grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. W. F. (Ruth) Albrecht of Maryland. He was predeceased by one sister, Leona Schmitz, in 1975.

MEYERSDALE. Pa. - Samuel S. Baer, 78, of RD 4, Meyersdale, died yesterday at his home. He had been in ill health for some time. Born near Salisbury, he was a son of the late Samuel and Elizabeth (Fullem) Baer. Mr. Baer had operated a store and garage at Warren Mills and was a member and Sunday School teacher at the White Oak Lutheran Church for 40 years. Surviving are his widow, Matilda (Knepp) Baer; three children, Mrs. Emerson Paul, Alfred S., and Mrs. Elwood Ackerman, all of RD 4, Meyersdale; and a sister, Miss Amanda Baer, RD 3, Meyersdale. Burial services will be conducted Sunday at the White Oak Lutheran cemetery.

Meyersdale, Pa., Aug. 8—Services were held this afternoon at the residence in Summit Township for Mrs. Sarah Baer, 87, who died Monday. The Rev. Nelson C. Brown, pastor of Amity Evangelical and Reformed Church, officiated, and interment was in the church cemetery. A lifelong resident of Somerset county, Mrs. Baer, a daughter of the late George and Catherine (Schrader) Werner, was born in Summit Township March 9, 1858. She was a member of Amity Church and the Dorcas Bible Class. Her husband, Daniel Baer, died many years ago. Surviving are seven children: Henry G. and Ezra R., of Somerset; George E., Meyersdale; Paul D., Pittsburgh; Mrs. Ethel Keefer, Meyersdale; and Emma C., and Susan M. Baer, both at home. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Gorman Baker, of Meyersdale; a brother, Mahlon Werner, of Summit Township; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

MEYERSDALE, Apr. 9 — Mrs. Sarah Ann Grime Baer, widow of Cyrus M. Baer, died early Monday morning at her home at 368 Main street following a brief illness. She was a daughter of the late Solomon and Elizabeth Grime, and was 72 years old. She is survived by the following children: Mrs. Margaret Johnson, Meyersdale; Mrs. Henry Willkow, Berlin; Mrs. Walter Deneen, Hyndman; Earl Baer, Salisbury, and Theodore of Meyersdale. Four sisters who survive are Mrs. Mary E. Huple, Indian Head; Mrs. Armetta Mort, Somerset; Mrs. Ida Evans, Hyndman; and Mrs. Hiram Baer, Youngstown, Ohio. She was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church and her pastor, Rev. Howard Hilner, will conduct the funeral service at her late home Wednesday. Interment will be made in Union Cemetery.

BAER/BEAR, Solomon

Funeral of Solomon Bear.
This morning the funeral of Solomon Bear took place from his late residence on North Mechanic street. Mr. Bear, it will be remembered, had both legs cut off in front of the Queen City Hotel yesterday morning as he attempted to cross the Baltimore and Ohio tracks. He was removed to his home shortly after the accident and died an hour after he was taken to his home. Rabbi Kahn conducted the services at the house and also at the grave. The pallbearers were as follows: Mr. H. Lambert, of New York; and Messrs M. Gotlieb, Gus Loaenstein, S. Rosenthal, D. Lambert and Sigmond Tanzer, of this city. The following relatives from a distance were present: Mr. and Mrs. H. Bear, Mr. Joseph Bear, and Charles Reichenbach, of Frostburg; Mr. Isaac Bear, of Lonaconing, and Myer Bear, of Piedmont, W. Va.; Mr. Edward Donahue and wife, of Frostburg, who are old friends of the family, were also present. The interment took place in the Jewish cemetery on the Baltimore pike.

BAER/BEAR, Solomon

Killed by the Cars.
Mr. Solomon Bear of North Mechanic street, was run over by a shifting train of cars Wednesday at 8:25 and had both legs cut off. About an hour later he died. The old gentleman's mind has been failing for sometime, and during the past few months he has been closely watched. He left the house Wednesday morning unobserved and went to the Queen City hotel. He was seen walking aimlessly about the place but no particular attention was paid him. He started to cross the tracks and in some way caught his foot in one of the switches and he was unable to get out of the way of a yard train, which backed down over his legs severing both of them. He was carried at once into the hotel basement and Dr. Carr was called. Upon examination the doctor saw that amputation would be useless and that death would soon ensue. The doctor hyperderically injected some morphine and did all in his power for the sufferer. As soon as possible he was taken home, where he soon died. Mr. Baer was in his 86th year. He has been in America 50 years, 40 of which has been spent in Cumberland. For several years he kept a store on Mechanic street, near the viaduct, and then moved to his late residence near Mill street. He leaves a wife and two brothers. He has always born the reputation of being an honest upright man and was liked for his quiet unassuming manner. The funeral took place yesterday morning at 10 o'clock.

Fatal Accident.
Solomon Bear, aged 85 years, had both legs cut off by a yard train of cars in Cumberland Wednesday, and died an hour later. In crossing a track one of his feet caught in a frog and he could not extricate it in time to get out of the way of a backing train. He was a brother of Hartz Bear, of Frostburg.

BAER, Miss Susan Anna

MEYERSDALE, March 1 — Miss Susan Anna Baer, aged 77 years, died at her home in Meyers avenue Friday evening, following a long illness, death was due to complications. Miss Baer was widely known and a highly respected citizen. She was a noted cook, and for 30 years served in that capacity in hotels in Ligonier, Somerset, and the Colonial Hotel in Meyersdale. Twelve years ago she retired and lived comfortably at her home. Her niece, Miss Carrie Burkholder, lived with her and cared for her during her illness. She is survived by three brothers, William H., of Akron, Ohio, Hiram W., of Youngstown, Ohio, and C. Peter, of Meyersdale, a number of nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Funeral was held today at 1:30 o'clock at her late home, her pastor. Rev. E. V. May, of the Methodist Episcopal Church, officiating. Interment followed in the Union Cemetery.

MEYERSDALE — W. Frank Baer, 74, of RD 3, died Friday at his home. A native of RD 3, Meyersdale, he was a son of the late Owen and Ellen (Brown) Baer. Surviving are his wife, Nellie (Forrest) Baer; two sons, Glenn Baer, Baltimore, and Larry Baer, Boynton; two daughters, Mrs. Paul Hay, RD 3, and Mrs. James Hay, RD 2; three brothers, Joseph Baer, RD 3; Robert Baer, Canton, Ohio; and Homer Baer, Akron, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Lottie Gomer, RD 4, and Mrs. Margaret Clause, Frederick, Md.; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The body is at the Price Funeral Home where a service will be conducted today at 11 a.m. Rev. William Ferguson will officiate and burial will be in Greenville Cemetery.

William A. Baer, 83 years old, native of Meyersdale, died Monday at his home at Akron, Ohio. A son of the late Peter and Barbara Hostetler Baer, he was employed for many years by the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad before locating at Akron. Surviving are a daughter, Barbara, two sons, George Baer of Akron and William Baer of Windber and a brother, Charles P. Baer, Meyersdale business man. The body was expected to arrive at noon today at Meyersdale, where funeral service will be held at 10 o'clock Thursday morning at the Price funeral home. Rev. H. J. Gotgen, pastor of the First Methodist Church, Meyersdale, will officiate. Burial will be made in Union Cemetery, Meyersdale.

BAER, William H.

William H. Baer, 89, of 209 Washington Ave., died Thursday, December 12, 1963, in Connellsville State General Hospital. He was born Feb. 15, 1874, at Connellsville, a son of the late George and Leona Durshiger Baer. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He operated one of the first dairy businesses in Connellsville, then became affiliated with Farmers Dairy, where he remained until his retirement. Surviving are a son, Roland E. of Connellsville; two daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Leona) Schmitz of Erie, and Mrs. William (Ruth) Albright, of Hyattsville, Md.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Leona Shearer of Vineland, N. J. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Ella Collins Baer, on March 22, 1957, and a brother, Edward, on May 2, 1963. The body will be at the McIntire Funeral Home today. The funeral service will be held there at 2 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. H. Wahl Pfeifer officiating. Interment will be in Green Ridge Memorial Park.

William J. Baer, 63 years old, funeral director of Windber, who died Saturday morning at his home, was a former resident of Connellsville. He worked for the late Joseph Stader in Connellsville under whom he served his apprenticeship and for whom he worked for several years after being licensed. He was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Connellsvllle. He was born at Meyersdale March 21, 1884, a son of William H. and Polly Laurie Baer, both deceased, and leaves his widow, eight children, one brother and one sister.
