COMUNTZIS, N. J.

Funeral services for N. J. Comuntzis, formerly of this city, who died Friday at his apartment in the Masonic Temple, Fairmont, WV, after a brief illness, was held today. The body was buried temporarily in this country but it will be eventually taken back to Greece to rest beside the bodies of his ancestors. Mrs. Comuntzis will take her family back to Greece to reside and will take the body at that time. Up until ten o'clock Tuesday night, Mr. Comuntis was at his place of business in Fairmont and was then suffering from a pain in his ear. The next day he was taken much worse and physicians were summoned to his aid. He was said to have the influenza. Later meningitis developed and his condition became worse very rapidly. In an effort to relieve the severe pain in his head, minor operations were performed but they failed to help him. The deceased was aged 42 years. Mr. Comuntis was an honorable, upright citizen and a shrewd businessman and during his business career here, held the confidence of all with whom he had any dealings, says the Fairmont Times. He was born in Sparta, Greece, where his father, John Communtzis, aged 75 years, and two sisters and a brother reside. He came to the United State in the year 1891 and to Fairmont in the year 1904, opening a confectionary store on Main street. Later he opened a second and larger establishment on the corner of Main and Monroe Streets, Fairmont, still maintaining the former stand. He also owned a similar business at Morgantown and a few years ago disposed of similar stores in Cumberland and Clarksburg. He had acquired considerable property in Fairmont, several pieces, however, he had disposed of recently, his own residence on the Country Club Drive have been disposed of and the family had moved to the Temple apartments. Mr. Comuntizis is survived by his wife, who is also a native of Greece, having come to this country six years ago. A son and a daughter also survive and a brother, D. J. Comuntzis, who was associated with him in business. (The various spellings of the surname were transcribed as shown in the newspaper)
