ECKHART - Anthony J. Fabbri, 66, of Brazil, Ind., died Saturday at St. Francis Hospital, Indianapolis, Ind. He was born here, a son of the late Lucindo and Benilda (Castellani) Fabbri. Mr. Fabbri was a retired self-employed liquor store proprietor. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Helen (Werner) Fabbri, formerly of Mount Savage; two sons, Anthony J. Fabbri Jr. and David Fabbri, both of Brazil; three daughters, Mrs. Pamela Williams and Mrs. Tina Adamson, also of Brazil; Miss Joyce Fabbri, at home; one sister, Mrs. Lucy Arnone, Frostburg; four brothers, Oliver Fabbri, Frostburg; Raymond Fabbri, Tampa, Fla.; John Fabbri, Mount Savage; Francis Fabbri, Cresaptown; four grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday in Brazil, followed by interment there. The William W. Moore and Son Funeral Home, Brazil, is in charge of arrangements.

BRAZIL, Ind. - Helen Bernadette (Werner) Fabbri, 78, of Frankfort, formerly of Brazil, died at 11:38 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at her daughter's home in Frankfort. She was born on Aug. 22, 1923, in Mount Savage, Md. She was the daughter of William Henry Werner and Gertrude Baer Werner. She was a graduate of Beall High School in Frostburg, Md. She married Anthony Joseph "Tony" Fabbri on Feb. 6, 1943. They moved to Brazil in 1951, and together, they owned and operated the House of Spirits retail store in Brazil. She had spent her winters living in Marco Island, Fla., and summers in Frankfort. While living in Brazil, she was a member of Annunciation Church. She attended San Marco Catholic Church in Marco Island, and St. Mary's Catholic Church in Frankfort. In recent years, she was active in the Marco Island Mobile Seniors, Senior Singles and Marco Island Council of Catholic Women. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tony on Sept. 20, 1986; and brothers, Herbert, Kenneth and Regis Werner. Surviving are two sons and their wives, David E. (Janis L.) Fabbri of Brazil, and Anthony J. (Wanda) Fabbri Jr. of Kanchelog, Mich.; three daughters and their husbands, Christine A. "Teena" (Stephen D.) Adamson of Frankfort, Joyce H. (Jonathan) Fabbri-Coombs of Frankfort, and Pamelia Ann (G. Mont) Williams of Chicago; one sister, Mae Norris of Mount Savage; eight grandchildren, Troy Allen Fabbri, Brett Eugene Fabbri, Anthony David Fabbri, Anthony Gene Fabbri, Michael Anthony Fabbri, Stephanie Christine Adamson, Rebecca Nichole Adamson and Kendra Michelle Adamson; one great-grandchild, BreAnna James; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Moore Funeral Home, Brazil, Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. A Rosary Service will be conducted Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be conducted at the Annunciation Church, Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Father Gerald Borawski officiating. Burial will follow in Summit Lawn Cemetery, south of Brazil.

FACEY, Mrs. Elizabeth Rafferty

Mrs. Elizabeth (Rafferty) Facey, 70, died May 29 at her home in Valley Stream, N.Y. A native of Frostburg, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Laura Rafferty. Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Kenneally, Clear Water, Fla.; three sisters, Mrs. Lavern Graim, this city; Mrs. Robert Carter, Mt. Savage; and Mrs. Frances Brannon, Adelphi; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

FADELEY, Ira V.
 
Ira V. Fadeley, 62, Frostburg, died Thursday, June 1, 2000, at his home, following a lengthy illness.  Born June 23, 1937, in Frostburg, he was a son of the late Melvin and Ruth (McKenzie) Fadeley. He was also preceded in death by one brother, James Fadeley, and a sister, Phoebe Spataro.  He was retired from the Garrett County Roads Department as a heavy equipment mechanic. He also owned and operated school buses and was a driver for more than 37 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Pocahontas.  Survivors include his wife, Shirley (Sell) Fadeley; two sons, John Fadeley, Frostburg, and Jason Fadeley, Finzel; three daughters, Ruth A. Bridges, Elizabeth, Pa., and Angela M. Austin and Kristie D. Yutzy, both of Finzel; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, John Fadeley, Finzel, and David Leo Fadeley, Eckhart; and one sister, Dixie Geis, Long Stretch, Frostburg.  Friends were received at the Hafer Funeral Home, Frostburg, where a service was conducted Monday, June 5, with the Rev. Father Bernard White officiating. Interment was in the Emmanuel Methodist Cemetery, Finzel.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Garrett County, Inc., P.O. Box 271, Oakland, MD 21550.

FROSTBURG—Mrs. Laura Fadeley, 80, wife of John Fadeley, died today at the home of her son, Melvin Fadeley, near Finzel. Besides her second husband, she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Henry Rosenberger, Meyersdale, Pa.; Mrs. Susan Caton, Big Savage; two other sons, Ira Caton, Baltimore, and Earl Caton, Finzel, and two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Garlitz and Mrs. Phoebe Ward, Baltimore. The body is at the Fadeley home.

FROSTBURG — Melvin James Fadeley, 55, died suddenly yesterday at his home, RD 2, Frostburg. He had been in ill health several months. A native of Garrett County, he was a son of the late John E. and Laura (Garlitz) Fadeley. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. Surviving are his widow, Ruth (McKenzie) Fadeley; four sons, James E. Fadeley, Star Route, Frostburg; Augustus J. Fadeley, Palmetto, Ga., and Ira V. and David L. Fadeley, both at home; two daughters, Phoebe A. and Dixie E. Fadeley, both at home; a half brother, Ira Caton, Baltimore; a half sister, Mrs. Susan Caton, National Highway, Garrett County, and nine grandchildren. The body is at the Hafer Funeral Home, Cumberland, but will be taken to the residence today at 2 p. m. Services will be conducted there Monday at 11 a. m. by Rev. Regis Larkin. Burial will be in Johnson Cemetery.

FROSTBURG - Mrs. Ruth C. Fadeley, 74, of Finzel Road, died Wednesday in Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland. Born in Frostburg Oct. 27, 1912, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin J. Fadeley, March 29, 1963. Mrs. Fadeley was a self-employed school bus contractor for the Garrett County school system and was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. Surviving are four sons, James E. Fadeley, Star Route Frostburg; A. John Fadeley, Newnan, Ga.; Ira V. Fadeley, Finzel Road, and D. Leo Fadeley, Parkersburg Road; one daughter, Mrs. Dixie Geis, Long Stretch; three half-sisters, Mrs. Helen McKenzie and Mrs. Irene McKenzie, both of Frostburg, and Mrs. Mary Romesburg, Meyersdale, Pa., 22 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received in the Hafer Frost Mansion Funeral Home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

George Fadley, four-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Fadley, Wiley Ford, who was struck by an automobile last Thursday, January 25, near his house, died this morning at 3 o'clock in Memorial Hospital. He had been in a critical and unconscious condition since being admitted to the hospital. [details of accident have been redacted] Surviving the child besides his parents are his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Burkhart, of Ridgeley, and his paternal grandfather, William Nelson Fadley, also of Ridgeley. Mrs. Burkhart is a patient at Memorial Hospital. The body will be taken to the home.

FADLEY, William Nelson
 
William Nelson Fadley, 71, of Mary street extended, was struck by a car early Thursday morning at the intersection of Offutt Street and Virginia Avenue. Mr. Fadley died yesterday morning in Allegany Hospital from injuries received in that accident. A retired farmer, Mr. Fadley had lived here for eight years. He was a member of the United Brethren church, Edinburg, Va. He is survived by his third wife, Mrs. Clara Betters (Brady) Fadley; two daughters by his first wife, Mrs. Maude Williams, this city, and Mrs. Edna Iser, Short Gap, W.Va.; by his second wife, two sons, Fred and Nelson Fadley, both of Wiley Ford, W. Va., and one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Rockwell. Five children by his last marriage are Ralph Fadley, Wiley Ford; Pfc. James Fadley, with the Army in the Philippines, and Marshall Fadley, Mrs. Effie Carr, and Miss Julia Fadley, all at home, 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and one brother, Robert Fadley, Quicksburg, Va., also survive. The body is at the Hafer funeral home where services will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p.m. The Rev. Vernon E. Shanholtz, pastor of Wiley Ford Church of the Brethren, will officiate and interment will be in Fort Ashby cemetery.

FAHERTY, John

John Faherty, for a number of years a well known freight conductor on the Third division of the B. & O., died at his home at Hutton, Md., at 6 o'clock this morning of dropsy, aged about 40 years. About two years ago Mr. Faherty, who was familiarly known to railroad men by the sobriquet of "Number", fell under a car and lost a ????[unreadable]. Since that time, on account of ...[missing] injury and illness, he had retired. He was a member of the well known Faherty family, and on account of his genial nature and disposition was much liked by his associates. He was unmarried and leaves a mother and several sisters. Mrs. Patrick Burk, of this city, is a sister, and Mr. Bart Feeney, a cousin. He was affiliated with the railroad brotherhoods.

FAHEY, Miss Beatrice L.

Miss Beatrice L. Fahey 73, formerly of 79 Main Street in Westernport, died last night at Memorial Hospital. A native of Elk Garden, W Va she was a daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Grady) Fahey. She had worked as a Bookkeeper for the Moran Trucking Company in Westernport until about a year ago. Since her retirement she had been living with a niece. Mrs. M. E Cosgrove. Valley Road. Miss Fahey was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and The Catholic Daughters of America. Surviving are one sister, Sister Edna Maria. St. Joseph's Chestnut Hill. Philadelphia, and a number of nieces and nephews. The body is at the Fredlock Funeral Home in Piedmont where friends will be received today from 7 to 9 p. m. and tomorrow from 2 to 4 p. m. and 7 to 9 p m. The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church of Westernport. interment will be in the church cemetery.

Miss Bernadette Fahey, 77, died this morning in Sylvan Retreat. A native of this city, she was a daughter of the late Bernard and Mary J. (Shay) Fahey. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the church's Sodality.  Survivors include a brother, Edward B. Fahey, this city; nephew, John B. Fahey, stationed in Germany with the Air Force, and a niece, Miss Angela Fahey, this city. The body is at the Kight Funeral Home where the rosary will be recited tomorrow. The family requests that flowers be omitted. A requiem mass will he celebrated on Saturday at 9 a. m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. interment will be in the parish cemetery.

FAHEY, Bernard T.

Bernard Fahey Asleep in Death ~ The Well Known Sexton of St Patrick's is Dead ~ Faithful To His Duty As Sexton, he was so Prompt in the Ringing of the Church Bell that People Regulated their Watches by it.  He was 63 years old. 
Mr Bernard T Fahey, the well known sexton of St Patrick's Catholic Church, died at his home, 213 North Centre St, yesterday morning, aged 63 years.  Mr. Fahey was stricken with paralysis several weeks ago and had had several light strokes since. Yesterday, a week ago, the stroke which preceded his death came, rendering him speechless in which condition he remained until the time of his dissolution.  When the end came, he passed peacefully away surrounded by his the members of the family.  A most gratifying instance to Mr Fahey and his family was that a few days before his death, his half-brother, Mr Bartley Kelley, of Dunellen, N.J. whom he had not seen in forty-six years came here to visit his sick relative and was present during his last moments.  Mr Fahey was perhaps one of the best known and most highly esteemed citizens of Cumberland, having been sexton of St. Patrick's for nearly thirty years attending to his duties with a fidelity as marked in his attendance upon the services of the church. So prompt was he in the ringing of the angelus at morning, noon and evening hour that clocks and watches were regulated by it.  It is said that during the thirty years as sexton, he never missed the ringing of the angelus at the appointed times excepting when he was sick and this was rare up to the time of his recent illness.  He called the living to the services.  He bade a welcome to the New Year and signaled the Old had fled.  Mr Fahey was born in Connemara, County Galway, Ireland coming to this country when a small boy, taking up his residence in Patterson, N.J. with relatives.  He came to this city about 1869, about the time of the starting of the Baltimore & Ohio rolling ??? in which he became an employee.  Mr Fahey was married in this city, his wife being Miss Mary J O'Shea, daughter of the late Michael J O'Shea, who survives him with the following children: Messrs Michael F and Edward B, John J and Misses Agnes and Bernadette Fahey, all of whom live at family home.  He was a brother-in-law of Mr James McHugh, the well known coal dealer.  Mr Fahey was a member of the Allegany Lodge No 31 Shield of Honor and the Holy Name Society.  The funeral will take place at 9 o'clock Wednesday morning at St Patrick's Church with high requiem mass, the cortege leaving the residence at 8:40 o'clock.  Interment will be in the cemetery of the church.

Funeral of Bernard Fahey.
The funeral of the late Bernard T. Fahey, the aged sexton of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, who died Sunday morning at h!s home, 213 North Centre street, took place this morning at 9 o'clock from St. Patrick's Church, with high requiem mass, celebrated by Rev. E J Wunder, who eulogized thelife of the deceased and his faithful performance of the duties to his church. There was a great, profusion of flowers and a large congregation attended the services. The pallbearers were P. Donahue. B. F. Coyle. Thomas Kean. J. P. Gatfney. Edward Walsh, John McMtillen. P. F. Pfeordeort and Charles Kyler. Interment was made in the church cemetery.

"Solemn High Requiem Mass was celebrated yesterday morning 21 September 1955 in St. Peter's Catholic Church, Westernport, Md., for Mrs. Bridget Ellen Fahey, 86, widow of Michael J. Fahey, who died Sunday 18 September 1955 at her home 212 Schley St., Cumberland, Md. The Rev. Linus E. Robinson, pastor, was celebrant, assisted by the Revs. George J. Pugh and Charles H. Quinn. Interment was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were: Patrick Healy, Thomas McGuire, James E. Kenney, John B. Determan, Francis Cosgrove and David Mongold. A daughter of the late Michael and Bridget Haeghan (sic) Carney, Mrs. Fahey was born in Oakland, but resided in Westernport for 40 years before moving to Cumberland 3 years ago. Mrs. Fahey was a member of St. Peter's Church and the Sodality of the Church. She is survived by two daughters, Miss Marguerite Fahey and Miss Mary Fahey, both at home; and a son, Michael P. Fahey, Westernport."

Edward B. Fahey, 78, of 240 North Centre Street, died yesterday in Western Maryland State Hospital, Hagerstown, where he was admitted two weeks ago. Born in Cumberland, he was a son of the late Bernard and Mary (O'Shea) Fahey. Formerly employed as a machinist's helper for Celanese Fibers Company, he retired in 1950 after 21 years of service. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society. He also was a member of Eagles, Aerie 245 where he served three terms as president of that lodge. He is survived by his wife, Sarah C. (Smith) Fahey. The body is at the Kight Funeral Home where friends will be received from 2 until 4 p. m. and 7 until 9 p. m. The rosary will be recited there tomorrow at 7:30 p. m. by the Holy Name Society. Requiem mass will be celebrated Friday at 10 a. m. at St. Patrick's Church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

John J. Fahey. 39 years old, son of the late Bernard and Mary J. Fahey, and a brother of the late Michael F. Fahey who for many years was desk sergeant at Police Headquarters, died this morning at his home. 105 Valley Street. Mr Fahey had been ill for several years. Besides his wife, who was Miss Mathilda Louise Rohman, two children. Angela and John Fahey, survive. A brother, Edward B. Fahey, and two sisters. Misses Agnes and Bernie Fahey, also survive. Funeral services will be held from St. Patrick's Catholic Church, of which Mr. Fahey was a member. The family requests that flowers be omitted. This is the third death in the Fahey family In a little over a year, his mother and brother having preceded him.

John M. Fahey, aged 48, formerly of Westernport, husband ot Catherine Fahey, died at his home at Midland, Md., yesterday afternoon of complications, following an Illness ot several months. He was employed at the mines at Midland until he had to retire on account of ill health. He was a member of the Holy Name Society at Westernport. Besides his wife he is survived by three children: John Ryan, Catherine Ann and Isabell; one brother, Patrick H. Fahey, Westernport, and three half brothers, Joseph, Paul and James, and stepmother, Mrs. Elizabeth Fahey, Cumberland;five sisters, Misses Mamie, Beatrice and Edna, Westernport; Mrs. Hugh Russell, Keyser, W. Va,. and Sister Marcelllne, Sacred Heart Convent, Altoona, Pa. He will be buried in St. Peter's Cemetery, Westernport, Friday morning, following services at St. Peter's Catholic Church.

"Prominent Young Man of Westernport Answered To Final Summons Westernport, Md. Nov 29 - Joseph Fahey, one of the most popular young men on George's Creek, died last night at 7 o'clock, at his home here, after an illness of about two months. The deceased was about 28 years old and was engaged as chief clerk to his father, Superintendent Michael Fahey, of the Piedmont and George's Creek Coal Co., and was well and favorably known throughout the entire county. He is survived by his father, before-mentioned, two brothers, Patrick and John, and five sisters as follows: Misses Mamie, Frances, Beatrice, Edna and Annie, the latter a sister in a religious order. Their mother died some years ago. The deceased was a prominent member of the Knights of Columbus, also of Westernport Aerie, No. 707 F.O.E."

"Leo B. Fahey, 77 of 9 Hampton Place died yesterday at Sacred Heart Hospital where he had been admitted Saturday. Born in Elk Garden, W. Va., he was a son of the late John and Margaret (Carney) Fahey. Mr. Fahey was a former pipefitter at the Amcelle plant of Celanese Fibers Company, and was last employed as a bartender at Zilhman's Tavern. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, a veteran of World War I and a member of Fort Cumberland Post 13, American Legion, and the Bartenders Union. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Marie (Tice) Fahey, three daughters, Mrs. Louise Hollar, Potomac Park; Mrs. Margaret Durocher, Williamstown, N. J., and Mrs. Patricia Bray, Baltimore; two sisters, Miss Nora Fahey, Elk Garden and Mrs. Nellie Firlie, city; two brothers, P. Emmett Fahey, city and Francis Fahey, Elk Garden; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated tomorrow at 9 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church. Fahey, 73, of 447 Cumberland Street, Cumberland, who died Monday at Sacred Heart Hospital, where she had been a patient for five weeks. Burial was in St. Peter's Cemetery, Westernport. Born in Westernport, she was a daughter of the late Michael J. and Bridget E. (Carney) Fahey. Miss Fahey had been employed as a saleslady for the E.V. Coyle Furniture Store in Cumberland. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Sodality. She is survived by a sister, Miss Mary F. Fahey, with whom she resided."

The funeral of Mrs. Michael Fahey took place Saturday morning at 10 o'clock from her late residence on Main street, Westernport. The deceased lived the greater part of her life in this community, and lived a life of purity, leaning on the crucifix of our dear Lord during all the long weeks of suffering, she having been in delicate health for the last three years. Her husband and family were at her bedside with her, also Rev Father Gallagher, who during her illness was at her bedside many times to administer the last rites. A solemn high mass was sung at St. Peters Church by Rev. Fathers Gallagher, Scarpatti and Heath. Father Gallagher spoke of the beauty of her character and compared her life to that of a saint. She leaves to mourn her loss a husband, Mr. Michael Fahey and children, Messrs. John Fahey, Joseph Fahey, Patrick, of St. Charles College; Misses Mamie, Frances, Beatrice, Edna and Sister Marceline, of Dunbar, Pa. Machen. Mrs. Harry Little, Mr. Patrick J. Murphy, Mr. Thomas Kean and Mrs. Stephen King, all of Cumberland; Mr. Owen Ferron and sister Maud, of Painesville, O.; Mr. Martin Healey of Allegany, Pa.; Mr. Martin Garvey, of Sympson, W. Va.; Mrs. Thomas Murphy, of Henry; Mrs. John Higgins and daughter, Josephine, Mrs. Mary Defibaugh, Leo Brown, all of Thomas, W. Va.; Mrs. Maggie Healy and son, James, of Elk Garden, W. Va.; Mrs. Lizzie Melvin. and son James, Mrs. Lizzie Flannigan, all of Midland. The floral offerings were beautiful. Undertaker William Fredlock had charge of the funeral.

FAHEY, Miss Mary Agnes

Miss Mary Agnes Fahey, 66, 242 North Centre street, died yesterday morning. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, and was a daughter of the late Bernard and Mary (O'Shea) Fahey. Surviving are one sister, Miss Bernadette Fahey, and one brother, Edward D. Fahey, a niece and nephew, Angela and John B. Fahey. The body is at Stein's Funeral Home. Services will be held tomorrow in St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

FAHEY, Mrs. Mary J. O'Shea

Mrs. Mary J. Fahey, aged 71, wife of the late Bernard T. Fahey, died at her home, 325 North Centre street, last night at 10:30 o'clock, after an illness of one month. She had been seriously ill two weeks. Mrs. Fahey had been a resident of Cumberland practically all her life. A native of Wheeling, W. Va, she came to this city with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Michael 0'Shea, when she was a child. Her father will be remembered by older residents as the proprietor of a confectionery and bakery on North Mechanic street, where the Carpenter Bottling plant is located. Mrs. Fahey received her education at the old St. Edward's Academy of the Sisters of Mercy. Her brilliancy as a student was reflected through her life, although unostentatiously by her fine composition, her love of books and her charm as a conversationalist. Her husband, the late Bernard T. Fahey, who died 17 years ago after having been sexton of St. Patrick's Church for 33 years, was generally mourned. His devotion to his duties and his sunshiny nature were marked. Mrs. Fahey was a devout member of St. Patrick's Church all her life. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. The survivors are three sons: Michael F., Edward B., and John Fahey and two daughters, Misses Agnes and Bernie Fahey, all of this city. There are two grandchildren, Angela and John Bernard Fahey. Her only brother, Michael J. O'Shea, resides at Everson, Pa. The funeral will be held Saturday morning with high mass of requiem from St. Patrick's at an hour to be announced. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

"Miss Mary Veronica Fahey of 448 Baltimore Avenue, died yesterday at Sacred Heart Hospital, where she had been a patient several months. Born in Elk Garden, W. Va., she was the daughter of the late John Joseph and Margaret Ellen (Carney) Fahey. Miss Fahey was formerly employed by Randolph Enterprises in Elkins had been employed for 25 years by Rosenbaum's here, before her retirement. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the sodality. Surviving are four brothers, Leo B., P. Emmett, and Michael J. Fahey, city and Francis T. Fahey, Elk Garden; two sisters, Mrs. Vincent Firlie, with whom she resided, and Miss Nora Fahey, Elk Garden...a requiem mass will be celebrated in St. Patrick's Catholic Church Monday at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers will be Carl Firlie, Bernard McGreevy, Samuel Nightingale, Harold Hollar and George McLaughlin."

Buried This Morning.
The funeral of Michael F. Fahey, 48, former sergeant of police, who died Saturday night, took place this morning from St. Patrick's Catholic church. Burial was in the church cemetery. The pallbearers, all members of the Police Department, were: Officers, John Cassen, James O'Hara, William Schute, J. Francis Leo, Ross Fayman and Theodore Rose. Rev. Fr. William A. Dwyer, assistant pastor, conducted the services, which were largely attended by Mr. Fahey's many friends. He had been a popular officer, due to his cheerful nature and his spirit to accommodate.

"Michael J. Fahey, 70, of 123 Hanover Street, died yesterday afternoon at Sacred Heart Hospital, where he had been a patient for two weeks. Born in Elk Garden, W. Va., he was a son of the late John J. and Margaret (Carney) Fahey.  He was last employed as a machinist's helper at Celanese. A veteran of World War II, he was a member of Fort Cumberland Post 13, American Legion; St. Patrick's Catholic Church and Cumberland Council 586, Knights of Columbus. Surviving are three brothers, Leo and Emmitt Fahey, both of this city; Francis Fahey, Elk Garden; two sisters, Mrs. Vincent Firley, this city and Miss Nora Fahey, Elk Garden, and a number of nieces and nephews."

FAHEY, Michael P.

"Michael P. Fahey, formerly a prominent business man of this community, but of late years a resident of Cumberland, died at his home in that city Wednesday evening after a long illness. Mr. Fahey was born here July 13, 1854, and was a son of Michael and Nora Fahey. During the greater part of his life he was interested in the coal business, and when a youth he started working in the mines at Elk Garden, W. Va.  Later he returned to Westernport where he resided until 1911, when he moved to Cumberland, At the time of his death he was president of the R. D. Johnson Milling Company, Cumberland, and the Piedmont Coal Corporation of Piedmont. He was also a director of the Citizens National Bank, Westernport. He was president of the Piedmont and George's Creek Coal Company of Frostburg, from 1900 to 1909, and was one of the organizers of the company. During his career he was also interested in other companies. Mr. Fahey was twice married, his first wife being Miss Mary Grady, of Piedmont. To this union the following children, now living, were born: John Fahey, Patrick Fahey, Misses Mamie, Frances, Beatrice and Edna Fahey, all of Westernport, and Sister Mary Marcelline in the convent at Uniontown, Pa. His second wife, who survives him, was before their marriage in 1908, Miss Elizabeth McGann, of Vale Summit. Three boys, Joseph, Paul and James Fahey, all at home, were born to this union. The deceased was a member of The Cumberland Lodge, B.P.O.E., and of Cumberland Council, Knights of Columbus. The funeral will be held tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock from SS Peter and Paul's church, Cumberland, and interment will be made in the church cemetery."

Miss Nora Elizabeth Fahey, 68 of 4 Center Street, Elk Garden, died yesterday at Sacred Heart Hospital, where she had been admitted on January 5. Born in Elk Garden,she was a daughter of the late John J and Margaret Ellen (Carney) Fahey.  She was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church, Kitzmiller. Surviving are two brother, P Emmett Fahey, city and Thomas F Fahey, Elk Garden; a sister, Mrs Vincent Firlie, city and a number of nieces and nephews.  The body is at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, where friends will be received today from 7 until 9 p.m. and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.  Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick's Catholic Church. A requiem mass for Patrick H. Fahey, 60. Valley Road, who died last night at her home after an illness of three months, will be celebrated tomorrow at 10 a. m. in St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Interment will take place in the parish cemetery. The body is at the Fredlock Funeral Home. Piedmont, W. Va. where the Holy Name Society of St Patrick's Church will recite the rosary at 8:30 tonight. The family requests that flowers be omitted. A former justice of the peace at Westernport, Mr. Fahey also served as city clerk there during World War II. He attended St. Charles College, Catonsville, and for a number of years was engaged in the coal mining business with his father, the late Michael P Fahey.

"Funeral services were held April 15 at St. John the Evangelist Church, Encinitas, California, for Richard Joseph Fahey, 76, of Encinitas, who died April 12 at Scripps Memorial Hospital, Encinitas. The mass was preceded by a rosary service Wednesday evening at Encinitas Mortuary. The Rev. Msgr. Timothy Harnett officiated and burial was at Eternal Hills cemetery, Oceanside, California. Born September 19, 1916 in Piedmont, he was the son of the late Patrick and Mayme Fahey of Westernport, Md. He graduated from Bruce high school in 1933 and was a retired Realty Specialist from the U. s. Civil Service. He is survived by his wife, Winifred; three daughters, Eileen Martin, Poway, California; Maureen Fahey, Milton, Massachusetts and Margaret Ann Hamilton, Ashland, Missouri and three grandchildren; one brother, Thomas Fahey, Maryland Avenue, Westernport and two sisters, Mary Marceleine Cosgrove, Rt. 3, Cumberland, and Ruth Eilbeck, Palatka, Florida."

SALISBURY, Pa. - Arthur James Faidley, 75, of Boynton, 75, died Monday at his home. He was a son of the late Albert and Ida (Klink) Faidley. Surviving are his widow, Mary (Hostetler) Faidley; three sons, Albert H. Faidley, RD 5, Somerset, Robert L. Faidley, Mt. Savage, and Joseph L. Faidley, RD Meyersdale; four daughters, Mrs. Margaret Kocatver, RD 1, Garrett, Mrs. Ruth Phillippi, Markleton, Pa., Mrs. Ann Phillippi, RD l, Rockwood, Pa., and Mrs. Eva Hulzel, here; 27 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, and a number of half-brothers and half-sisters. Barbara Jane (Seese) Faidley, 59, of Rockwood (formerly of Ruffs Dale), passed away at 11:30 a.m. Monday, July 5, 2010, at her residence. Barbara was born April 3, 1951, in Mt. Pleasant, a daughter of Edward V. and Betty J. Hosmer Seese of Ruffs Dale.Barbara was a loving mother, daughter, grandmother, great- grandmother, sister, and homemaker. She was a graduate of Southmoreland High School with the Class of 1969 and formerly was employed in the deli department and as a cashier at the Giant Eagle in Somerset. Years ago, she also attended the Christ Reformed Church in Ruffs Dale. Barbara will be sadly missed by her devoted family; her parents, Edward V. and Betty J. Hosmer Seese of Ruffs Dale; her four children, Ronald Faidley and his wife Jill of Stoystown, Donald Faidley and his wife Tina of Somerset, Edward Faidley and his wife Stephanie of Somerset, and Kimberly Liebel and her husband Vince of Boswell; her eight grandchildren, William, Nathan, Kelsey, Katie, Donald, Elizabeth, Dakota, and Mia; her two great-grandchildren, Ethan and Justin; her three sisters, Carol S. Proud and her husband Bill "Buzzy" of Ruffs Dale, Deborah Aumer and her husband Herb of Ruffs Dale, and Marie Gricheck and her husband Jim of Scottdale; numerous nieces and nephews; and her special friend, Darlene Kerr. She was preceded in death by her infant sister, Betty Ann Seese in 1949. Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the Robert B. Carl Elwood Faidley, 70, of Berlin RD 4, died Nov. 12, 1982, Somerset Community Hospital. He was born April 28, 1912, in Meyersdale, son of the late Robert and Cora (Maust) Faidley. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Donna Rae. He is survived by his wife, the former Hazel Durst; one daughter, Mrs. John (Shirley) O'Donnell, Chicopee, Mass.; one grandson, John Jr. Two sisters: Mrs. Wheeler Urban, Meyersdale RD 1; Mrs. Galen Maust, Salisbury RD 1. He was a member of Garrett United Church of Christ; 35-year employee of New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company, Somerset. Friends were received at the Wilbur D. Miller Funeral Home where funeral services were conducted with the Rev. Ralph Mills officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park.

FAIDLEY, John C.

Army Specialist 4 John C. Faidley, 20, of Mt. Savage, was killed in action Friday in Vietnam. His family was notified of his death on Sunday. A son of Robert L. Faidley. Mt. Savage, and the late Madelyn (Snyder) Faidley, he was born in Frostburg. The young soldier was killed while in open combat with hostile forces using small arms fire, according to Defense Department. He had been in the service about six months and had been in Vietnam three months. A graduate of Mt. Savage High School, he was a member of Mt. Savage Methodist Church. Besides his father, he is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Glenn Fletcher, New Holland, Pa.; Mrs. Roy Fritz, Brotherton, Pa., and Mrs. David Robinson, Mt. Savage, and two brothers, Ralph E. Faidley, Mt. Savage, and Robert E. Faidley with the Navy at Norfolk, Va. His body will be returned to the Durst Funeral Home in Frostburg. Arrangements are pending the arrival of the body.

MT. SAVAGE - Mrs. Madelyn G. Faidley, 41, of here, died this morning in Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, where she had been a patient since September 4. A native of Mt.Savage, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Margaret (Baker) Snyder. She was a member of the Mount Savage Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, Robert L. Faidley; three daughters, Mrs. Betty Ann Pletcher, Lancaster, Pa.; Mrs. Arline Fritz, Berlin, Pa., and Linda Faidley, at home; three sons, Robert Faidley, stationed with the Navy in Norfolk; Ralph Faidley, Mt. Savage, and John Faidley, at home; five sisters, Mrs. Randolph Lashley, Mrs. Benjamin Lashley and Mrs. Helen Wise, all of Mt. Savage; Mrs. Catherine Stowell, Corriganville; and Mrs. David Himes, Morrisville, Pa.; five brothers, Francis E. Snyder, Mt. Savage; James Snyder, Cleveland; Victor and John Snyder, both of Tucson, Ariz.; and Vernon Snyder, Cumberland; and four grandchildren. The body will be at the residence of her sister, Mrs. Benjamin Lashley, this evening.

MOUNT PLEASANT - Norman Bruce Faidley, 88, of Somerset, R.D. 3, died Sunday night in his home after a three-week illness. He was born May 6, 1876, in Somerset County, and was a member of the Sipesville Church of the Brethren. He had been a farmer, and a fertilizer company agent for 35 years. Surviving are five sons, Harry E., Charles J., Norman A., Elmer and George R. of Somerset, R.D. 3; a daughter, Mrs. Clair (Ruth) Sheele of Mount Joy, Mount Pleasant, R.D. 3; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Edward (Minnie) Hoffman of Somerset, R.D. 3. His wife died Oct. 5, 1941. The body will be at the Hauger funeral home, Somerset, starting this evening. The funeral service will be held Wednesday afternoon in the Casebeer cemetery, Somerset.

Faidley Sr., 55, of 13614 Blank Road, Mount Savage, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 1997, at his residence after a lengthy illness.  Born Feb. 13, 1942, in Mount Savage, he was the son of the late Robert L. and Madelyn (Snyder) Faidley. He also was preceded in death by one son, Ralph E. "Sonny" Faidley, in 1988; one brother, John Faidley; and one sister, Kathy Faidley. Mr. Faidley was retired with disability from the Kelly Springfield Tire Company. He served in the U.S. Navy during peacetime and was a member of the Mount Savage United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife of 36 years JoAnn (Burkett) Faidley; two daughters, Tammy Baker and husband William, Mount Savage, and Tina McKenzie and husband Leo, Frostburg; four grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Ann Muri, Charlottesville, Va., Arlene Fritz, Berlin, Pa., and Linda Robinson, Sunfield, Mich.; one brother, Robert E. Faidley, Lansing, Mich.; one stepbrother, Joey Faidley, Cumberland; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. MEYERSDALE — William Faidley, 67, Somerset, died Sunday, at Somerset Community Hospital. Born at Summit Mills, he was a son of the late A. L. and Sarah (Klink) Faidley. FAILING, George Reed

WESTERNPORT — George R. Failing, 99, Westernport, passed away with his family at his side on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center in Cumberland. He was born Jan. 17, 1915, in Luke. George was the son of the late Henry Oran and Ada Reed Failing. George was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Chabot Failing, on Sept. 23, 1992, and his sister, Frances Failing Rapley. George graduated in 1932 from the Greenbrier Military Academy and in 1936 from Duke University with an A.B. Degree. In the early years, he was an accountant with Price Waterhouse and Talon Zipper Company. From 1942 until 1946, he served as a full Lieutenant for the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired from Westvaco as an accountant. Proudly, he was one of the original founders of cable television in the Tri Towns and Frostburg. He provided income tax service in the Tri Towns for more than three decades and served as the treasurer of the Green Glade Club at Deep Creek Lake for 34 years. He was a member of the Masons, the Ali Ghan Shriners, and the Trinity United Methodist Church. Also, he was a member of the American Legion Victory Post 155, Westernport, and a life member of the Kelly Mansfield Post 52 of Piedmont, W.Va. George is survived by his two children, G. Reed Failing Jr., MD (Barbara E. Maxwell) of Cumberland; and Ann C. Failing of Westernport, with whom he resided; two grandchildren, Anne E. Failing of Colorado and John R. Failing of California. Friends will be received at the Fredlock Funeral Home located at 31 Jones Street in Piedmont, W.Va., on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, from 10 a.m. to noon, at which time a service will be conducted with the Rev. Steve Grimes officiating. Interment will be held privately at a later date at the Philos Cemetery, Westernport.

GRANTSVILLE — John E. Failinger, 51, of here, died yesterday in Meyersdale Community Hospital. Born here February 20. 1924, he was the son of the late William Failinger and Orpha (Durst) Failinger. He was a construction worker. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Debra (Bittinger) Failinger; two sons, Donald Ray Failinger, Washington, D.C.; John E. Failinger, Jr., at home; four brothers, Raymond Failinger and Donald Failinger, both of here; William Failinger, Baltimore; Hermit Failinger, Frostburg; two sisters, Mrs. Ivan Swauger, Cumberland, and Mrs. Clyde Krause, Baltimore. Friends will he received at the Newman Funeral Home today from 7 to 4 p. rn. and tomorrow 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p. m. Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home, with the Rev. William Ferguson officiating. Interment will be in Addison Cemetery.

FAIR, Albert Alvin

MT. SAVAGE - Albert Alvin Fair, 74, was dead on arrival yesterday at Sacred Heart Hospital. Born November 18, 1907 in Somerset County, he was a son of the late John and Henrietta (Mankamyer) Fair. Mr. Fair was a member of the United Methodist Church, White Oaks. He was retired from The Kelly-Springfield Tire Company. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Naomi (Andrews) Fair; four daughters, Mrs. Rosalie Femi, Frostburg, Mrs. Pauline Romesburg, Johnstown; Mrs. Janet Shriner, Ellerslie, and Miss Patricia Fair, Detroit, Mich.; a son Thomas Alvin Fair, Cumberland; two brothers, Irvin Fair, Akron, Ohio, and Mahlon Fair, Meyersdale, and five grandchildren. The body is at the Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, where friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow. Services will be conducted in the funeral home 2 p.m. Sunday by Rev. Edward Heydt. Interment will be in Temple Cemetery, RD 1, Berlin.

FRIENDSVILLE - Mrs. Alice P. Fair, 67, was dead on arrival Monday at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland. A Native of Friendsville, she was a daughter of Ellis and Daisy (Selby) Artice and was a member of the Pentecostal Church. Besides her parents, she is survived by her husband, Duwayne Fair; two sons, Ellis R. Coddington, here, and William D. Coddington, Fort Benning, Ga.; two daughters, Mrs. Alice F. Friend, Washington and Mrs. Elma V. Teets, Baltimore; two brothers, George E. Artice Jr., and Charles R. Artice, here; a sister, Mrs. Elma E. Friend, here and 12 grandchildren. The body will be at the George Artice residence. A service will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Pentecostal Church. Rev. Paul Fike will officiate and interment will be in the Steele Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. tomorrow.

“Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday in St. Joseph Church, Midland, Md., for Elizabeth Catherine Fair, 76, of Thomas Road, Midland, who died 2 January 1994 at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.  Father Michael Murphy was celebrant and burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery, Midland. Born 24 July 1912 in Lonaconing, Md., she was the daughter of the late Richard A. McGann and Elizabeth Jane Nolan McGann.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Francis I Fair on 8 May 1986. Mrs. Fair was a member and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Midland Volunteer Fire Department.  She was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church; sodality of the church and the Midland Democrat Club. She is survived by one daughter, Karen Ann Fair, at home; three sons, Francis P. Fair, Camp Hill, Pa.; Richard P. Fair, Midland and Michael Fair, Rawlings, Md.; two sisters, Anastasia Youngblood, Midland and Mary Martin, Cumberland; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.”

Leslie William Fair, 50, of 500 Magruder Street, foreman of the calender department at Kelly-Springfield Tire Company plant, died yesterday afternoon at Allegany Hospital where he was admitted Monday. A native of Mt. Savage, Mr. Fair had been employed at the Kelly 29 years. His parents were the late George C. and Ella Nora (Hutzell) Fair. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Survivors include his widow, the former Miss Isabel Angela Murray; 10 children, Leslie Winifred Fair, Frostburg; George C. Fair, Baltimore; Mrs. Lewis St. Johns, and Miss Elizabeth E. Fair, Washington, and Louelle Mae, Gene T., Joseph L., William, Regis D. and Robert H. Fair, at home, two brothers, Chris Fair, Petersburg, Fla., and Cecil Fair, Youngstown, Ohio, and four sisters, Mrs. Wilbur Renz, Pittsburgh; Mrs. William Hedra, Norfolk, Va.; Mrs. Charles Stark, Frostburg; and Mrs. Frank Paul, Mt. Savage. The body is at the George Funeral Home. A requiem muss will be celebrated Friday at 9 a. m. in St. Peter and Paul Church. Burial will take place in St. Michael's Cemetery, Frostburg.

FAIR, Mrs. Mary Grace Logsdon

Mrs. N. N. Fair, 69, died early Sunday at her home on South Monroe st. in Millerburg after an illness of several weeks. Mary Grace Logsdon was born June 8, 1888, in Holmes county, a daughter of Albert W. and Mary Patterson Logsdon. She and Mr. Fair celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary recently. Mrs. Fair was a member of the First Presbyterian church in Millersburg and the Women's Association of the church. Surviving besides her husband are three sons, Cloyd, Adrian and H. William, all of Millersburg; five daughters, Mrs. Opal Colville of Mt. Vernon, Mrs. Edith Shelley of Shreve, Mrs. Aileta Leckrone, Mrs. Mary Ellen Close and Mrs. Joan Miller, all of Millersburg; 19 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Harry Logsdon of Millersburg; one sister, Mrs. Erma Gindlesberger of Lakeville. Two sons, two brothers and one sister are deceased. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p m. in the First Presbyterian church, Millersburg. Rev. Robert Canon will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery. Friends may call at the Elliott-Hartline funeral home in Millersburg, Tuesday afternoon and evening.

FAIR, Mrs. Mary M. Suder

Mrs. Mary M. Fair, 68, wife of Charles L. Fair of 1127 Race street, died at her home at 11:50 'o'clock Saturday night after a lingering illness. She was born at White Oak January 7, 1886, a daughter of the late Peter and Sarah Deeter Suder. She came to Connellsville when she was married 46 years ago. Deceased was a member of the Trinity Evangelical and Reformed Church and sang in the choir there for several years. She was past president of the Woman's Auxiliary to the Order of Railway Conductors. Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, Wilbert D. of Aldan; a grandson, and three sisters - Mrs. George Wetmiller of Berlin, Mrs. Harry Housel of Meyersdale and Mrs. Charles Twigg of Cumberland, Md. The body was taken to the Ansell funeral home where the funeral service will be held at 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon with Rev. Marvin E. Heath of Mount Pleasant officiating, assisted by Rev. E. I. Mankamyer, pastor of the First E. U. B. Church and a cousin of Mr. Fair. Interment will be in Berlin Cemetery.

Savage on February 18, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth (Rizer) Andrews. Her husband, Albert Alvin Fair, died in 1971. She was a member of Mt. FAIR, Mrs. Violet Hook

WESTERNPORT~ Mrs. Violet Fair, widow of William J. Fair, died last night after a long illness, at the home of her aunt, Mrs. Owen Rhodes, Cemetery Road. Mrs. Fair was brought here by ambulance from Washington on Saturday. She was the daughter of Harry Hook, Keyser, WV and the late Amy (Poland) Hook, former residents of Piedmont. A native of Piedmont, she was graduated from schools there and Catherman's Business School, Cumberland. She was a member of Victory Post, American Legion Auxiliary here, had been employed in Washington as a secretary in the promotional department of the Navy. Surviving in addition to her father and stepmother are three aunts, Mrs. Rhodes, Mrs. Nellie Calvert and Mrs. Catherine Hook, both of Baltimore. The body is at the Boal Funeral Home. Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. William B. Orndorff, pastor of First Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be in Philos Cemetery.

FAIRALL, Mrs. Alexander (nee West)

After an illness of several years, died at the home of her niece, Mrs. C. J. Webb, of 1209 Eighth Avenue last evening at 8 o'clock. She was the widow of the late Alexander Fairall, who preceded her to the grave fourteen years ago last Saturday. The deceased was a resident of Swanton, Md, until two years ago, when she came to Altoona. She had reached her seventy seventh birthday on the 24th of last May, having been born and raised in what was formerly Allegheny[sic] Co., Md., but has since been changed to Garrett Co. Her maiden name was West. She was a member of the Protestant Episcopal church and is survived by a sister, Mrs. Sadie Fairall, who resides at the Webb home. Private funeral services will be held at the Webb home and the body will be shipped tomorrow morning to Swanton, Md., for burial. Mrs Fairall, during her short residence here made many friends, who will sincerely mourn her death, as her kind and gentle nature won for her the love and esteem of all with whom she came in contact.

Mrs. W. C. Kisney went over to Altoona and together with Mrs. Sadie Fairall and C. J. Webb accompanied the remains over. They arrived Tuesday and the remains were taken to the old home at Swanton, for burial. Judge and Mrs. F. M. Reynolds, Mrs. Lula West, Mr. Chas Miller, and other relatives and friends from here went up to the funeral. Rev. R. E. L. Strider conducted the funeral service.

FAIRALL, Donald W.
 
"WESTERNPORT -Donald W. Fairall, 57, of 404 Walnut Street, was found dead yesterday at his home.  Death was attributed to natural causes.  A retired Army sergeant major with 20 years of service, he served in World War II in the European Theater of Operation, and in the Korean War.  He retired in 1962 and had received several field promotions during his war service.  He was awarded the Bronze Star for combat activity in the ETO.  Mr. Fairall was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Council 685 Knight of Columbus, Chief Justice Taney General Assembly Fourth Degree, Wamba Caravan Order of Alhambra 89, Victory Post 155, American Legion, Queens Point VFW Post, McCoole, Purple Heart and was a past president of St. Peter's Alumni Association.  Born in Westernport, he was a son of the late Walter and Katharyn (O'Hanley) Fairall.  Surviving are two brothers, John E. Fairall, Washington, and James E. Fairall, Piedmont; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Kolberg, Piedmont; Mrs. Rose Taylor, Westernport and Mrs. Katharyn Ord, Colorado Springs, Colo.  The body is at the Fredlock Funeral Home in Piedmont where friends will be received from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p. m.  Requiem mass will be celebrated Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Church.  Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery.  Members of Victory Post 155 will serve as pallbearers and members of K of C Council 685 will be honorary bearers.  Members of Chief Justice Taney General Assembly will be the honor guard. The rosary will he recited at the funeral home tomorrow at 7:30 p. m.  Members of Chief Justice Taney Assembly are requested to be at the funeral home to recite the rosary."

FAIRCHILD, C. F. & Wife

C. F. Fairchild, of Franklin, Pendleton County, shot and killed his wife Saturday and then ended his own life. Separated for a year, the couple became reconciled a few days ago. Mrs. Fairchild was sitting on her husband's lap when he reached his right arm over her shoulder in apparent embrace and shot her through the head. He then killed himself.

FAIRCHILD, Stephen
 
Fate of An Old Brakeman.
Many employes of the Baltimore and Ohio railroad here learn with  regret the sad fate of Stephen Fairchild, a brakeman who was  literally cut in twain at Bradford on the Hickman run branch near Connellsville, yesterday morning. Brakeman Fairchild was one of the  oldest men in the entire employ of the Baltimore and Ohio railroad, and leaves a wife and five small children. The latter have the  sympathy of a number of railroad friends in this city.

FAIRFAX, William

William Fairfax, colored, aged about 55 years, was fatally shot at noon Saturday by Robert Burley, aged 15 years, also colored, following a dispute over chopping wood.  Fairfax was in the employ of Burley’s mother and they occupied a cabin on the F. C. Welton farm about two and one half miles from Cumberland.  Fairfax it is stated raised an iron cooking pot to strike young Burley, who secured a shotgun and almost tore Fairfax’s leg off with the charge of shot.  Fairfax bled to death from the wound before aid could be summoned.  Young burley escaped to Cumberland and placed under arrest at the home of a colored family on Thomas street.  He was taken from bed yesterday and removed to jail at Keyser, W. Va., the tragedy having occurred in Mineral County.  Burley is said to have been a thrifty colored lad and to have a bank account.  Burley loaded the gun with shells which he found in a cupboard and he was not long in taking aim at Fairfax, whom, he thought, according to this statement when arrested, he had shot in the ankle. He did not stop to ascertain the nature of the wound but fled to this city. Mr Welton notified the sheriff at Keyser but the Cumberland police did not receive the information until late Saturday evening.  Officer Charles O’Hara, in his brother’s automobile, and the Keyser officer, soon located Burley, who was lodged in the station house.  This was near the midnight hour. Early yesterday morning Burley was taken to Keyser.

Frostburg, Md., May 6 - Mrs. William Fairgrieve, 43 years old, of Carlos, died this morning at 2:45 o'clock at the Miners' Hospital here following as operation. Mrs. Fairgrieve was formerly Miss Annie Hitchins and was a daughter of Mrs. James Hitchins, of Carlos. She was a member of Star Council, Daughters of Liberty of Frostburg and the Methodist Episcopal Church of Carlos. Surviving her are her husband and four children, Mrs. James Stevenson of Cumberland and James, Mabel and Mildred Fairgrieve at home. She also has three brothers and one sister living, as follows: Henry, James and John Hitchins and Mrs. James Dunn, all of Carlos. Rev. Stanley H. Jewell, pastor of the Barton Presbyterian Church, will officiate at the funeral, which will be held Sunday afternoon. Interment will be in Allegany Cemetery.

FAIRGRIEVE, H. Lee

H. Lee Fairgrieve, 68, of 11907 Iris Avenue, Potomac Park, Cumberland, died Wednesday at Sacred Heart Hospital. Born in Moscow, Md., he was a son of the late William Fairgrieve and Emma (Lee) Fairgrieve. Mr. Fairgrieve was a retired construction inspector for the Maryland State Roads Commission. He served with the Army at headquarters of the European Command for 28 months in World War II, and was a member of Potomac Park United Methodist Church and Henry Hart Post 1411, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Surviving are his widow, the former Lola M. Broadwater; one son, Gary L. Fairgrieve, Leesburg, Va.; a daughter, Mrs. Karen S. Amann, LaVale, and six grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Kight Funeral Home. Services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at Potomac Park United Methodist Church with the Rev. Marlin H. Lauver officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Raymond Shipley, Robert McCutcheon, Charles Holt, Earl Fatkin, Joseph Farrell and Paul Lease. The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to Potomac Park United Methodist Church or to the American Cancer Society.

FAIRGRIEVE, Paul H. 

Lonaconing- Paul H. "Huckle" Fairgrieve, 60, of Willow Tree Lane, Lonaconing, died Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at his residence. Born Aug. 13, 1947 in Cumberland, he was the son of Dwain Fairgrieve and Marie (Broadwater) Fairgrieve of Moscow. He retired from the Allegany County Board of Education after 33 years of service as a custodian and owned his own company, Fairgrieve Home Improvements for 25 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lonaconing. He was a member of the Midland Sportsmen's Club. He loved hunting and fishing and loved to take his girls to the rishing rodeos when they were younger. He is survived by his wife, Susan Jane (Thomas) Fairgrieve, Lonaconing; four daughters, Michelle Wilson and companion Michael Meek of Lonaconing, Renee Taylor and husband James of Westernport, Kimberly Llewellyn and husband James of Barton and Paula Opel and husband Gordon Jr of Bowling Green; 11 grandchildren, Travis, Zachery and Michael Wilson, Sydnee and Bailey Meek, Emily, Lexy and Treyten Llewellyn, Brianna and Ay=lyssa Taylor and Caleb Opel and the Opel twins to arrive in December; one great-grandchild, Aubreigh Wilson; three sisters, Peggy Dye of Moscow, Diane Johnson of Barton and Kay Louise Harr of South Dakota; three brothers, Richard Fairgrieve of Virginia, William "Billy" Fairgrieve of Moscow and Steve Fairgrieve of Barton; mother-in-law, Dorothy (McIntyre) Thomas, a patient at Egle Nursing Home, Lonaconing; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted at the First United Methodist Church, Lonaconing, on Saturday, May 24, 2008 at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Andrew Droll officiating. FAIT, Lawrence

HYNDMAN - Lawrence (Pete) Fait, 74, of RD I, Buffalo Mills, died yesterday at his home. Born in Buffalo Mills, he was a son of the late William C. and Henrietta (Huffman) Fait. He was a member of the Lybarger Lutheran Church, Madley, Pa.; the Bedford County Supervisors and Auditors Association; Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors, and the Polled Herford Association. He graduated from Sweeney Automotive School, Kansas City, Mo., in 1922, returning to Bedford County in 1925 where he farmed while serving as a Londonderry Township supervisor. Surviving are his widow, Leona E. (Kelly) Fait; two daughters, Mrs. Mabel Alice Lohr and Mrs. Jeanne Stoner, both of RD 1, Buffalo Mills; a brother, Russell Fait, Buffalo Mills; a sister, Mrs. Lucretia Kirchner, Hyndman; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The body is at the Zeigler Funeral Home, where friends will be received today from 7 to 9 p.m. and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service wil! be conducted there Monday at 2 p.m; Rev. Richard L, Tome will officiate and interment will be in Milligan's Cove Cemetery.

FAIT, William Charles

William Charles Fait, lifelong farmer in Londonderry township, died Sunday, October 26, 1952, after a lingering illness. He was born January 15, 1869, near Buffalo Mills, and maintained his residence in that community almost his entire life. He was the son of John and Catherine (Huffman) Fait. He was united in marriage with Henrietta Huffman, who preceded him in death 14 years ago. Survivng are two sons and a daughter: Mrs. Charles Kirchner of Hyndman, Russell Fait and Lawrence Fait, both of Buffalo Mills Rt 1. He was a member of the Lybarger Lutheran church, and of the P.O.S. of A. of Bard. Funeral services: at Zeigler Funeral Home in Hyndman at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, with the Rev. James M. Scharf officiating. Interment in Milligans Cove cemetery.

Born November 17, 1939 at Taiho, China, he was the son of the late Dr. I. C. and Jeanie (Wang) Fang. Mr. Fang was a computer analyst. Surviving are his wife, Judith Ann (Silverman) Fang; 1 son, Jason Cunningham, Reston, VA; 1 daughter, Angela Cunningham, Bellefonte, PA; 1 brother, Frank Fang, Las Vegas, NV; and 1 sister, Joan Fang, Dallas, TX. Mrs. Edw. Fannon, aged sixty-five years, after two years illness, passed peacefully away at her home at this place. Her husband, together with her ten children, were present at her death. The deceased has resided in Mt. Savage during her whole life and during this time she gained a great many friends who always express a very good opinion of her. She is survived by her husband, Edward Fannon and the following sons and daughters: Rev. John Fannon., pastor of St. Mary's Church, Newport, Va, William, Edward, Michael, Joseph, Patrick, this place and Mrs Patrick Conroy, George, Lawrence and Mary of Barton. The funeral arrangements have not yet been made.

He was a son of the late George and Marie (Hogan) Fannon and was a native of Youngstown. His father was a native of Mt. Savage. Survivors include his widow, eight children, two brothers, Msgr. Robert Fannon, of Clinton, Ohio, and Edward Fannon, Youngstown. He was a cousin of Rev. Thomas Fannon, pastor of St. Peter's Catholic Church of Westernport."

"MT. SAVAGE-Lawrence A. Fannon, 76, president of the First National Bank of Mt. Savage, died yesterday in Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, where he had been a patient since November 3. Mr. Fannon was a native of Mt. Savage and a son of the late Edward and Ellen (Cunningham) Fannon. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society of the church and the Knights of Columbus. His only survivors are a number of nieces and nephews. The body is at his residence on Railroad Street where the Rosary will be recited tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. Requiem Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church and interment will be in the parish cemetery."

Surviving are three daughters, Sister Mary Brandan SSND, Baltimore; Mrs. Alice Deffenbaugh, Greenbelt, Md., and Mrs. Rose Marie Kilduff, Mt. Savage; three sons, Raymond W. Fannon, here; Rev. Thomas J. Fannon, pastor of SS. Jane and Frances Catholic Church, Riviera Beach, Md., and Francis Fannon, Cumberland, and one sister, Miss Ellen Carney, Youngstown, Ohio. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Sodality of the church, Catholic Daughters of America and the AOH Auxiliary. The body is at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg; where friends will be received tomorrow and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p. m. FANNON, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Gallagher
 
Annapolis – Mary Elizabeth Fannon, 92, formerly of Frostburg, Mount Savage and Cumberland, and a resident of Manresa Assisted Living in Annapolis, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at the Heritage Harbor Rehabilitation Center, Annapolis. Born Oct. 30, 1916 in Mount Savage, she was the daughter of the late John Francis Gallagher and Frances Grant (Thompson) Gallagher.  Mrs. Fannon was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond W. Fannon, May 5, 1969; a brother Francis Gallagher, June 3, 1986; and two sisters, Jane E. Mulligan and Anne Gallagher. Mary Elizabeth graduated from the Ursuline Academy in Cumberland in 1934.  The class was a small class of 14 and remained close with yearly reunions.  Four of the class attended Mary Elizabeth’s 90th birthday party in 2006.  It was a remarkable tribute to these women’s friendship. Mary Elizabeth worked as a secretary at the Celanese Fibers Corporation of America and retired as secretary for the State Department of Transportation.  In her retirement, Mary Elizabeth kept very busy volunteering for many years at the Sacred Heart Hospital in the gift shop where she accumulated 4,187 volunteer hours.  She also volunteered at bingo at the Church of Saint Patrick in Cumberland.  Mary Elizabeth was a member of Saint Patrick’s Church, Mount Savage, the Sacred Heart Auxiliary, the Sodality of Saint Patrick’s and the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. Mary Elizabeth is survived by her sister, Adele M. Green, Annapolis; her sister-in-law, Rose Marie Kilduff, Mount Savage; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. "FROSTBURG - Mrs. Nellie M. Fannon, 88, of Mt. Savage, died Tuesday at Jewish Hospital, Cincinnatti, Ohio shortly after being admitted. Born in Mt. Savage, she was a daughter of the late George and Mary (Dull) Malloy. Her husband, Michael Fannon, preceded her in death. Mrs. Fannon was a retired bank clerk and a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, sodality of the the church, and the Ladies Auxiliary of AOH. Surviving are two stepdaughters, Mrs. Evelyn Crowe, Mt. Savage; Mrs. Helen Martin, Cumberland; and one stepson, Edgar Fannon, Washington, and several nieces and nephews. FANNON, Rev. Ronald J.

"CHEVERLY, Md. - Rev. Ronald J. Fannon, 49, a native of Mt. Savage, died yesterday in his sleep at the rectory of St. Ambrose Catholic Church of which he was pastor. Father Fannon had gone to his room to rest and sometime later he was called but did not respond. Death was attributed to natural causes and he had not complained of being ill. He was a son of the late Michael and the late Bertha (Farrell) Fannon. He attended St. Patrick's School, Mt. Savage, and studied for the priesthood at St. Charles College and St. Mary's Seminary, Baltimore, from where he went to North American College, Rome, to complete his theological studies. After his ordination in Rome in 1932, he returned to the United States and celebrated his first solemn high mass at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Mt. Savage. Father Fannon was then appointed assistant pastor at The Shrine of the Sacred Heart, Washington, where he remained until his appointment as pastor of St. Ambrose Church, Cheverly. A nephew of the late Msgr. John Fannon he is survived by his stepmother, Mrs. Nellie (Malloy) Fannon, Mt. Savage; a brother Edgar J. Fannon, Washington; two sisters, Mrs. John Crowe and Mrs. Walter J. Martin, both of Mt. Savage, and two cousins Rev. Thomas Fannon, Baltimore and Rev. Robert Fannon, Youngstown. Ohio. A solemn high mass will be celebrated Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ambrose after which the body will be taken to St. Patrick's Church, Mt. Savage. "Mount Savage, Md., March 13-William Fannon, 60, son of the late Edward and Ellen Fannon, died last night after an illness of six weeks. He was employed as bricklayer at the plant of the Union Mining Company up to the time he was taken ill. Mr. Fannon was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and of the Holy Name Society. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mary Carney Fannon and the following children: Sister Mary Brenden, a Notre Dame Nun of St. Xavier's Convent, Brooklyn, N. Y.; Mrs. Frank Deffenbaugh, Cumberland; Thomas Fannon, student at St. Mary's Seminary, Baltimore; Raymond, Francis and Rosemarie at home. He was brother of Rev. FANNON, Mrs. Winifred

"Local Native Fire Victim-
Mrs. Winifred Fannon, 59, a former native of Cumberland, died Monday after a fire erupted in her home at Silver Spring. Montgomery County authorities blamed the fire on careless smoking. Mrs. Fannon was pronounced dead at Holy Cross Hospital from smoke inhalation and cardiac arrest. Firefighters said they were called to the Fannon home around midnight and met by the woman's husband, Edgar Fannon, 58, a native of Mt. Savage, who had suffered second degree burns over his face, shoulders and upper chest. He told authorities his wife was still inside the  house. Firemen were able to carry her from the building but efforts to revive her failed. Investigators said the fire was started by a cigarette. The couple apparently tried to put out flames before calling the fire department, they said. In addition to her husband, also surviving are a son, James Fannon, at home, and a daughter, Mrs. Ann O'Steen, College Park. Friends are being received at the Collins Funeral Home, Silver Spring. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 9 a. m. in St. John's Catholic Church, Silver Spring, and interment will be there."

George Farley Died in Pittsburgh Hospital
Frostburg, Dec 20 - George Farley, aged 38 years, died Tuesday morning at Mercy Hospital. Pittsburgh, Pa.  The body arrived this morning and was taken to the Feldman home at Eckhart.   The funeral will take place Friday morning at 9 o'clock from St. Michael's Catholic Church.  Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery.   Surviving are two brothers. John Farley, East Pittsburgh, Pa and James Farley, New York.  Another brother, Thomas Farley, died August 25 in Fairmont, W Va.  Mr. Farley was well known here, where he often visited at the homes of his cousins. Frostburg. Md., Aug. 26.—Joseph A. Feldman, Eckhart, received word of the death of Thomas Farley, aged 34 years, a former resident of Eckhart, yesterday afternoon. Farley was an employe of the Fairmont Supply Company, Fairmont, W. Va. and was fatally injured while driving a truck into a small alley in the city.  He was wedged between the rack of the auto truck and a telegraph pole at the side of the alley which caused internal injuries.  The accident occurred August 3.  Mr Farley lingered for three weeks in Cook Hospital expiring yesterday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock.  Mr Feldman was at the bedside of Mr Farley for two weeks continuous, but returned to Eckhart last week, thinking he was much improved.  The news of his death will come as a shock to his friends in Frostburg and Eckhart.  Mr Farley was a member of the St. Peter's Catholic Church, Fairmont, W. Va. He is survived by three brothers, John, George and James Farley. Their whereabouts is unknown. Mr. Feldman was a bosom friend and a first cousin of the deceased.  Mr. Farley left Eckhart two years ago. Prior to that time he was employed as a mechanic at the Kelly Springfield plant in Cumberland.  The funeral will take place at the St. Peter's Catholic Church, Fairmont, Monday morning, with interment in a Fairmont cemetery.

Death of Mrs. Farley.
Mrs Thomas Farley died at Mt Hope hospital at Baltimore Saturday evening after a short illness. Mrs Farley was about sixty years of age and is survived by four sons, as follows: Messrs. James., John, George and Thomas residing at Eckhart Mines. The deceased was also a sister of Mrs. Peter Feldman, of Eckhart.  Mrs Farley was a life long devoted member of St Michael's Catholic church where she attended regularly until failing health made it impossible for her to do so.  The remains were brought to the home at Eckhart today for burial which will take place Tuesday morning from St. Michael's Catholic church.  Interment will be made in the Catholic cemetery located on Mt. Pleasant street.  Mrs. Farley was well known and liked by the entire population of the town in which she lived for her kind and charitable disposition.

FARMER, Romangus

Romangus Farmer, aged about 26 years, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Farmer, who lives near Shilon church, Hampshire Co, was drowned in Capon river while attempting to ford the stream, which was swollen from recent rains, Wednesday afternoon of last week. Richard Goode, driving one team, and young Farmer, with another, loaded with barrels, started about noon for Augusta. Mr. Goode drove across the bridge at Capon Bridge and the young man who was drowned could have done the same, but it is thought he tried to overtake the first team by fording the stream at another place. The river had risen several feet in consequence of heavy rains the night before, and when the young man drove the team into the stream the wagon was tilted and swept aside by an undercurrent, causing Mr. Farmer to be swept down the stream.

Funeral services for Mrs. Gladys Farnsworth, 1013 Latrobe St., who died Sunday at 5:40 a.m. at St. Joseph's Hospital, will be at the Levitt funeral home. The Rev. Richard Battin will officiate, and burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. The body is at the family residence, where friends may call until noon Wednesday when the body will be returned to the funeral home for services.

BODIES OF FARRADY BOYS ARRIVE IN FROSTBURG
Frostburg. Md., Oct. 7—The bodies of Private Hugh Farrady and Private John Farrady, sons of Mr. and Mrs. John Farrady, Sr., Bowery street, arrived  here this afternoon from Hoboken, N. Y. Hugh Farrady was a  member of Company D, 38th Infantry, and was killed in action July 22, 1918, after five days continuous fighting in the second battle of the Marne. John Farrady was a member of Company C,  168th Infantry of the Rainbow Division.  He was also killed in action October 16, 1918 during the Meuse-Argonne Drive.  Both bodies received proper burial in France.  At the request of parents, the bodies were removed and shipped to the United States.  The Farrady boys were the only two brothers from this section who were killed while in action and in honor of their valiant service and sacrifice, the American Legion of Frostburg selected the name Farrady Post No. 24.  The funeral services of Frostburg's heroes will be conducted from the family home on Bowery Street Sunday afternoon.  The funeral cortege will then move to Allegany Cemetery in military style, escorted by members of the Legion.  A beautiful mausoleum was recently erected by Mr and Mrs Farraday in the center of Allegany Cemetery for reception of the bodies.

FARRADY, Mrs. Lily Myers

FROSTBURG — Mrs. Lily (Myers) Farrady, 78, died last night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Beulah Williamson, 45 West College Avenue. She had been in failing health. The widow of William Farrady, she was the daughter of the late Samuel L. and Nancy (Harden) Myers. Besides her daughter, she is survived by a son, William Farrady, Eckhart; two sisters, Mrs. Maude Emerick, Eckhart, and Miss Florence Myers, Cumberland; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She was a member of the English Baptist Church. The body will be at the Durst Funeral Home after 7 p.m. today. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

FARRAND, Thomas

Thomas, aged 13 months, son of Nick Farrand, Magnolia, W. Va., died Monday evening at the Western Maryland Hospital, Cumberland, from typhoid fever, having been the youngest patient admitted to the institution suffering from that disease. The body was buried yesterday afternoon in St. Patrick's Cemetery.

Miss Elizabeth Ann Farrell, 30, former resident, died this morning at her home in Detroit.  She was a daughter of Mrs. Charlotte G. Farrell, of Detroit, and the late Thomas F. Farrell, formerly of Cumberland.  Besides her mother she is survived by two brothers, Thomas Patrick Farrell, Detroit, and Michael James Farrell, at home; a sister, Marlene Joan Farrell, at home, and two aunts, Mrs. Earl Brown, this city, and Mrs. Samuel McGowan, Midland.  The body is at the Kalasa Funeral Home in Detroit. A Requiem Mass will be celebrated there on Thursday and interment will be in Mt. Oliver Cemetery there.

Mrs. Helen Elizabeth Farrell, 66, of 325 Williams Street, died yesterday at Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient two weeks. Born in Pekin, she was a daughter of the late Lohn and Helen Brehany Berkenbaugh and was the widow of Joseph P. Farrell. She was a member of St. Mary's Church and of the Sodality. Surviving are two sons, Donald J. Farrell, Mt. Savage, and John G. (Jerry) Farrell, city; three daughters, Mrs. Rosalie Speir, Mrs. Dorothy Bartlett, and Mrs. Joan Kirk, city; four brothers, J. Earl and Francis D. Berkenbaugh, city; Joseph R. Berkenbaugh, Hagerstown; James T. Berkenbaugh, Ridley Park, Pa.; three sisters, Mrs. Sadie Mattingly, Mrs. Pauline Decker, city; Mrs. Angela Donovan, Frankfurt, Germany; 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. The body is at the Scarpelli Funeral Home where friends will be received today from 7 until 9 p.m. and tomorrow from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m. The rosary will be recited there tomorrow at 7 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.

Mt. Savage, Md., Oct. 14— John D Farrell, 67, died at his home on Calla Hill, last night, after an illness of three weeks. He was born here and was a son of the late Patrick and Catherine Farrell. As a boy he entered the service of the Cumberland and Pennsylvania Railroad Company as a machinist-apprentice in the Mt. Savage shops and spent 53 years in the service of that company, being retired in January last. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and of the Holy Name Society. Mr. Farrell is survived by his widow, Mrs. Rosella McAtee Farrell, four sons, Raymond, Cumberland; Edward, James and Francis; Mt Savage; six daughters, Mrs. James Kelley, Mrs. John Collins and Mrs. Anna Rose King, Cumberland; Mrs. Frederlck Kirby, Washington, D. C.; Mrs. Robert Sweene and Miss Alice Farrel!, Mt. Savage; brother, Thomas Farrell, Mt. Savage, and three sisters, Mrs. Catherine Kane, Brookley, N.Y; Mrs. Ella .Pressman, Frostburg, and Mrs. Elizabeth. Brannon. Mt. Savage. A number of grandchildren also survive. A requiem mass was held this morning in St. Patrick's Catholic Church for John F. Farrell, 63, of 105 Greene Street, who died Sunday at Allegany Hodpital. Very Rev. J. Lawrence Kilkenny/[sic] pastor, officiated and burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Mt. Savage. Rev. Michael Smyth, pastor of St. Patrick's Church, Mt. Savage, had charge of services at the grave. Pallbearers were Michael Reinhart, William Beier, Carl Hammersmith, Thomas Stevens, Virgil Green and Herbert Bailey.

FARRELL, John G.

John G. Farrell, aged 72, died at his home, Main street. Wednesday night at 8 o'clock following a protracted illness. Mr. Farrell was a lifelong resident of Mt. Savage and had conducted a confectionery store on Main street for the past 30 years.  He was a son of the late Mr and Mrs. James Farrell.  He is survived by his widow, Mrs Annie Noonan Farrell, one sister Mrs. Catherine Pratt of Hayward, California, and one brother, William, of Morgantown, W.Va. The following grandchildren also survive: Rev. Ronald Fannon, assistant pastor, St. Jerome's Catholic Church Baltimore. Md.; Evelyn, Ellen and Edgar Fannon who reside with grandparents. Rev. Father Fannon was with his grandfather when the end came.  Mr. Farrell was a member of St Patrick's Catholic Church from which the funeral will be held on Saturday morning at 9 o'clock. Interment will be In St. Patrick's Cemetery.  The Holy Name Society of St Patrick's Catholic Church will assemble at the home tomorrow at 8 p.m., for the recitation of the rosary.

Mrs. Mary Farrell died at the home of her daughter Mrs. Jos Wanstreet, Wednesday after a brief illness of dropsy at the advanced age of 75 years. The deceased came to Westernport about one year ago, since which time she has made her home with her daughter. FARRELL, Mrs. Peggie

Mt. Savage, Md., March 27. - Mrs. Farrell, better known as Peggie Farrell, died at the residence of her son, Patrick, on Quality Hill Thursday night. Peggie was born in Langford county, Ireland, some eighty years ago. Sometime after her marriage she came to this country and settled in this place. She was an "old land mark" and used to talk of occurrences of fifty years ago, as if it was only a fornight past. For many years she preferred to live a life of solitude, but a year ago she was persuaded to come under the shelter of her son's house, and here the old lady ended the days of a long and useful life.

Savage, he was a son of the late Thomas J. and Annie (Carroll) Farrell.  He was a retired ticket agent for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad at Oakland, and a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Oma Farrell; a daughter; two sons; two stepdaughters, two sisters, Mrs. John B. Clancey, Cumberland, and Miss Helen Farrell, Old Greenwich, Conn.  A service of Christian burial will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the John O. Durst Funeral Home, Oakland. Rev. Mrs. Rosella Farrell 91, of 539 Patterson Avenue, died yesterday in Sacred Heart Hospital, where she was admitted on Saturday. Mrs. Farrell was born in Mt. Savage, a daughter of the late Angus, and Catherine (Farrell) McAtee. Her husband, John D Farrell, died in 1936. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Mt. Savage, and of the Sodality. Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Catherine Sweene, Frostburg; Mrs. James E. Kelly, with whom she resided; Mrs. John A. Collins and Mrs. Howard A. King, both of this city; Mrs. John F. Kirby, Washington, D C.; four sons, Raymond T. Farrell, city; Edward J. Farrell, Mt. Savage; James A. Farrell, Midland; Francis X. Farrell, McLean, Va.; 45 grandchildren and 70 great-grandchildren. The body is at the George Funeral Home where friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The rosary will be recited there today at 8:30 p.m. Requiem mass will be celebrated tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church. Mt. Savage. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

FARRELL, Thomas A.

Thomas A. Farrell, 84, resident of the Brunswick Hotel, died this morning in Allegany Hospital from injuries received August 7, when he walked into the side of a moving automobile operated by George Hinkle, of Springfield, W. Va., on Baltimore street near the Fort Cumberland Hotel. Hospital attaches said he suffered a fractured rib and concussion of the brain.  According to State's Attorney Morgan C. Harris, the driver of the car told him that as he was driving west on Baltimore street, he noticed Farrell stepping from the curb between two parked automobiles. Hinkle told Harris he blew his horn and stopped the car, and that Farrell stopped walking. Then, he said, as he started the automobile in second gear and the machine moved off, Farrell walked against it, striking his head on a metal shield above the right front window. Hinkle said he immediately reported the accident to city police and Lieut. Detective R. Emmet Flynn took the injured man to the hospital. No charges have been placed against Hinkle. Mr. Farrell, a native of Ireland. came to this country at the age of 14 and settled at Ocean, near Frostburg. He resided in Cumberland for the last 12 years. A retired coal miner, he worked for the Georges Creek Coal Company for 48 years. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic church here and of the Holy Name Society of the church. Surviving are four sons, Robert A., Oakland, Calif.; Patrick and Thomas, Detroit. Mich., and John J. Farrell, with the Army in Italy; four daughters, Mrs. Samuel McGowan and Miss Geraldine Farrell, both of Midland; Mrs. Earl R. Brown, Cumberland, and Mrs. Charles H. Jerkins, Hagerstown. Sixteen grandchildren also survive. The body will remain, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. McGowan, until services at 9:30 a. m. Saturday in St. Joseph's Catholic church, Midland. The Rev. J. L. Kilkenny, pastor of the church, will officiate.

"Thomas F. Farrell, 58, of 137 Herman Street, Barberton, Ohio, died there yesterday.  A native of Mt. Savage, he was a son of the late Thomas and Annie Carroll Farrell, and was a former employe of the Greyhound Bus Company in Akron.  Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Marie Farrell; two sons, Thomas J. Farrell, Zihlman, and John T. Farrell, at home; four daughters, Mrs. Wanda L. Duckworth, city; Mrs. Jean Ginise, Greenwich, Conn., and Miss Kathleen and Miss Andrea Farrell, at home. A brother, Robert Farrell, Oakland, and two sisters, Mrs. John Clancy, city, and Miss Helen Farrell, Greenwich, also survive.  The body is at the Campfield-Hickman Funeral Home in Barberton.  A Requiem Mass will be held Tuesday in St. Augustine Church with burial there."

"Mt. Savage--William M. Farrell, aged 59 years, a retired merchant, died Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock following an operation at the Allegany Hospital, Cumberland.  Mr. Farrell had been in ill health for several months but was able to be about until last Monday when he was taken critically ill.  Mr. Farrell was born in Mt. Savage and was a son of the late Patrick and Catherine Farrell. For twenty-five years he conducted a store here.  He retired from business about one year ago.  Mr. Farrell was a member of the B. P. O. Elks, Frostburg; the Loyal Order of Moose, Williams Council Young Men's Institute, the Holy Name Society of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.  He is survived by his wife, Anna Porter, one son, George Farrell, three daughters, Mrs. DeSales McDermitt, Mt. Savage; Miss Naomi Farrell, a student nurse, St. Joseph's Hospital, Baltimore, and Miss Zeta Farrell, at home.  He is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: John D. Farrell, Thomas Farrell, Mrs. William Brannon, Mt. Savage; Mrs. Catherine Cain, New York city, and Mrs. Ella Pressman, Frostburg.  The funeral will take place Wednesday morning with a high mass at 9 o'clock at St. Patrick's Catholic church. Rev. T. The body of Mrs. Loretta Farrin, about 65, a former resident of the city, who died Sunday night at her home, 5523 13th street. Northwest, Washington, arrived here this afternoon and was taken to the Stein Funeral Home. Services will be held Thursday at 9 a. m. in St. Mary's Catholic church.  A native of Cumberland, Mrs. Farrin was a daughter of the late Philip and Catherine (Shannon) Clark.  Besides her husband, David F. Farrin, she Is survived by a brother, John J, Clark, former city mail carrier, and sister, Mrs. T. J. Niland, this city.

FARRIS, Richard Lee

Richard Lee "Woody" Farris, 46, of 429 Poplar St., Westernport, died on Thursday July 10, 2003, at Sacred Heart Hospital. Born Dec. 8, 1956, in Keyser, he was the son of Simon R. Farris and the late Mona Jean (Springer) Farris. One brother, Gary Farris, also preceded him in death. In addition to his father, he is survived by three sisters, Kathy Miller and husband Benny of Avilton, Md., Linda Farris of Westernport and Rebecca Kooken and husband Robbie of Douglasville, Pa.; one brother, Steve Farris and wife Teresa of Frostburg, Md.; four nephews, Andrew, Adam, Matthew and Mark; and three nieces, April, Amy and Sarah. Richard was a 1975 graduate of Bruce High School. He worked as a custodian for several local businesses and neighbors in the Tri-Towns area. Services will be held at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Monday, July 14, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William Shimer officiating. Internment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport.

Emogene Farthing, 72, of West Jefferson, Ohio, died Friday, September 5, 2003, at her home surrounded by her family. Born March 29, 1931, in Friendsville, Md, she was a daughter of the late Charles M. and Rubena (Lowdermilk) Humberson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles William Farthing; and siblings, Helen, Ruth, Orville, Raymond, Stanton, Dick, Lois, Dot and Wade. Surviving are three sons, Hugh Farthing and wife, Ruth Ann, Powell, OH; Floyd Farthing, Columbus, OH; Guy Farthing and wife, Laura, West Jefferson; two daughters, Cathy Farthing and husband Dave, Tampa, FL; Cindy Romans and husband, Bo; Columbus; five brothers, Charles Thomas and George Thomas, both of Friendsville; Ward Humberson, Nelsonville, OH; Ruben Humberson, Patterson Creek, W.Va.; Harold Humberson, Streetsboro, OH; three sisters, Ramona Campbell, Goose Creek, S.C.; Virginia Pomplas, Confluence, Pa. ; Patty Shaheen, Friendsville; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 943 Second Ave, Friendsville, on Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Services will be conducted on Monday at 10 am at the funeral home with the Rev. Mark Lawson officiating. Interment will be in Sand Spring Cemetery.
