FLANAGAN, Edward

Edward Flanagan, of Dawson, Pa., aged 42 years, single and a miner at Gleason mines, was found dead at Nethken's Siding above Shaw, last Sunday morning, by the crew on a helper. Coroner F. C. Rollman and Justice Ed Aronhalt went to the place and a jury was impaneled. The unfortunate man's skull was injured and one hand cut off, and on his person was found $20.10. The verdict of the jury was that he came to his death by being struck or knocked off by a train. Coroner Rollman brought the body to Elk Garden and prepared it for burial. The body was identified on Monday by John Sherlock, the dead man's chum, and shipped to Pennsylvania Tuesday. It seems that the two were trying to ride on a freight train and had with them a gallon jug of whiskey which explains the situation.

FLANIGAN, John

Man Found by Police Expires in Hospital
John Flanigan, who was found sick on the street by the police two weeks ago, and after being refused admittance to the Almshouse because of being a consumptive, was taken to Western Maryland Hospital, died there this morning.  Flanigan, who was about forty-five years old, lived in an old shack in South Cumberland. When he was taken to the police station, several physicians who examined him declared that he could not live more than two hours. Efforts were made to have him admitted to the Almshouse, but the authorities there refused him admittance because of his being a sufferer from tuberculosis.  After several days during which time he lay in the police station, arrangements were made for his entrance to the Western Maryland Hospital.  The body is at Stein's morgue.  Arrangements for the funeral have not yet been completed.

FLANIGAN, Mrs. Sarah

"Mrs. Sarah Flanigan, aged 70, was found dead in an ___iding at her home in Franklin, a suburb of Westernport about 8 o'clock Tuesday morning, she having cut her throat with a razor, during mental depression. She had once before attempted to take her life. Much sympathy is expressed for the family over this sad occurrence, as Mrs. Flanigan was not responsible at the time she took her life. Mrs. Flanagan was the widow of the late Michael Flanigan, who was C & P engineer for many years, and who lost his life many years ago by his engine running an open switch at Moscow, turning over on him. Mrs. Flanigan is survived by five children, Messrs. William, Michael and John Flanigan, Miss Kate Flanigan and Mrs. Frank Dailey. The funeral took place from St. Peter's Catholic Church Thursday morning, of which congregation she had long been a member, the attendance of friends being large."
