HOSTETLER, Mrs. Anna/Annie Livengood
Mrs. Annie Hostetler, widow of Cyrus M. Hostetler, passed to her rest at the home of her son Lloyd C. Hostetler, in the farm home in which she had spent all but 12 of her 84 years, at 11 o'clock Monday night. Although suffering from infirmities incident to old age the last few years, she fully retained her mental faculties and manifested her interest in her surroundings and current events until the end of her days. Mrs. Hostetler was a daughter of the late Christian P. and Catherine (Saylor) Livengood, and was born and reared on her father's farm in Summit Township. The date of her birth was March 8, 1851, and the age at the time of her passing was 83 years, 11 months and 3 days. She was the last survivor of the Christian P. Livengood family, two of her brothers, John and Jacob, and two sisters, Mary, first wife of the late Joseph S. Miller, and Eliza, having died of typhoid fever in the epidemic of 1870. Another sister, Mrs. Sarah (W.H.) Landis, died in 1889, and another, Mrs. Maggie (Jeremiah) Keim in 1926, and her brother William C. Livengood, about 15 years ago. In her young womanhood, she was united in marriage with Cyrus M. Hostetler, and for the first twelve years of their married life they lived on part of her father's land south of the borough of Meyersdale, where Perry Schrock now lives. In 1885 they bought her father's farm and moved into the Livengood homestead, where she spent the remainder of her life. After the death of her husband, she made her home with her son Lloyd and family, who took over the farm and have lived there since. Mrs. Hostetler is survived by three children, the son Lloyd, above mentioned, Laura, wife of Cyrus M. Bird, and Maurice A. Hostetler, of Meyersdale; also by six grandchildren. Early in life Mrs. Hostetler united with the Church of the Brethren and later became a charter member of the Main Street Brethren Church, to which she remained faithful until the end of her days. Funeral services were conducted in the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus M. Bird, a short distance south of town, by her pastor, Rev. Willis E. Ronk this (Thursday) afternoon. The funeral discourse was based on a text of her own choosing: "I have run my course, I have fought a good fight, I have kept the faith." Pastor Ronk read a sketch of her life written by her granddaughter, Miss Miriam Bird, and paid a beautiful tribute to her memory. The house was filled with sorrowing relatives and friends. The obsequies were concluded with burial in Union Cemetery.

HOTCHKISS, Dr. George
Our little town was brought into commotion Saturday morning by hearing the sad news of the death of our young and thoughtful physician, Dr George Hotchkiss. He left his home about 7 o'clock on horseback and rode over as far as Snyder's store and tied his horse. He went over to the dump and boarded the Potomac engine and rode as far as the bottom of the plane, got off and went to see a patient, after waiting awhile he thought he would walk up as far as the watering station, and while doing so, fell breaking his neck. Nobody saw him fall. His body was brought to his home. Eighteen months ago he was wedded to Miss Lizzie McLeyna by Rev. T.S. Dewing at the home of her sister Mrs. John Somerville. They lived in the house occupied by the late Dr. G.E.R. Owens and was fixed so comfortable and lived so happy together. Little did he think when he said good-bye that he would be brought home to his dear wife a corpse. And his sister who came on the half past five train on Saturday evening thought he would be to meet her, but instead of that to be brought in and shown his icy face which will never smile again. Dr. George Hotchkiss was born at Linden, Va and was 29 years, 10 months, and 21 days old. He attended school at Linden for a number of years after which he attended the Baltimore University, graduating there with the highest honors in 1887. Dr Hotchkiss came to our town the same year. He won many friends by his kind and affectionate ways. He was a member of the Knights of the Mystic Chain, which order attended his funeral in a body. His remains were taken to the Presbyterian Church Tuesday. At two o'clock, his loving wife, father, mother, sister and brother, were brought into the church and Rev Moore of Keyser spoke from St John 5:28-29, after which the remains were taken and laid to rest in Laurel Hill cemetery. He leaves a wife, mother, father, two brothers, and five sisters to mourn his death.

IN MEMORIAM
IN LOVING MEMORY of our Mother, Edith Hott, whom God called home one year ago today, June 10th, 1957.
We missed you so dear Mother,
Since God called you away;
And this day more than ever
For this is our sad day,
With broken hearts we watched you,
We saw you pass away;
And though we loved you dearly,
We could not make you stay,
We were standing by your bedside,
We saw you life depart;
When we knew that you were gone,
It almost broke our hearts,
Time heals broken hearts they say,
We know it isn't true...
For one long year has passed,
Our hearts still ache for you.
Sadly missed by
SONS AND DAUGHTERS.
