Mr. Koch was the fireman on an eastbound freight train and from an unknown cause the engine ran over a derail switch and was partly upset when the wheels on one side of the heavy locomotive sank into the earth beside the track. The fireman's head was caught between the locomotive and the tender. His neck was broken and the death was probably instantaneous. Mr Koch is the third brother of his family to meet accidental death upon the railroad. Mr. Koch was about 25 years old and was not married. His home is in Garrett County about five miles from Oakland. He boarded with his sister-in-law, whose husband was killed on the railroad a short time ago. He is survived by his father, one sister residing in Keyser, and one brother, Mr. W. H. Koch, a B&O brakeman. Funeral services were held Saturday evening at his late residence conducted by Rev. A. O. Price, pastor of the Presbyterian church. The body was taken to Cumberland Sunday on B&O train No 8, the Loyal Order of Moose, Cumberland Lodge, being in charge. A delegation of the Moose lodge with the Moose band were at the depot on the arrival of the train as well as a representation from the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Knights of the Mystic Chain, of which organizations the deceased was a member, as well as of the Moose Lodge. The members of the lodge brothers of the deceased formed an escort for the body to the cemetery where interment was made with befitting ceremonies.

KOELKER LEARNS BROTHER IS DEAD ~ Found in Washington With Throat Cut; Sad End of Business Trip. The Details Are Lacking
Edward Koelker of Westmoreland Grocery Company Leaves for Westernport, Md. Where Body Will Be Taken - Family is Well Known.
Word was received here, yesterday by Edward Koelker, a bookkeeper at the Westmoreland Grocery Company, that his brother, William A. Koelker, of Westernport, Md., was found dead with his throat cut in Washington, D.C., Monday night.  The news was forwarded to William A. Bucholtz[sic], an uncle living at Cumberland, who informed Mr. Koelker.  Koelker left for Cumberland yesterday afternoon and will stay there until the body arrives.  He is expected back Friday or Saturday. No detail of the tragedy could be learned.  The message from the Chief of Police only asked as to the disposition of the body.  While his family lived at Westernport, William Koelker had for the past few weeks worked at Cumberland in the interests of the Cumberland Brewing Company.  Edward Koelker of this place has been unable to account for the action.  William Koelker went to Washington to buy some fixtures for a new store in Cumberland. The deceased was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Koelker, a highly respected German family of Cumberland.  He was 40 years old.  The father died a number of years ago, but the mother and the following brothers survive; Joseph Koelker, accountant at Cumberland; Henry M. Koelker, money order clerk in the Cumberland post office, and Edward Koelker, a bookkeeper for the Westmoreland Grocery Company at Connellsville.

KOELKER, William

SCOUT THEORY OF SUICIDE. Brothers of Man Found Here With Throat Cut Start Investigation.
Cumberland. Md , May 16. — Henry J.Koelker, money order clerk in the Cumberland postoffice, and Edward Koelker, of Connellsvllle, Pa., have started an investigation into the death of their brother, William Koelker, of Westernport, this county. In Washington, D. C., late last month the theory that he'met his death at his own hands is scouted by the brothers. Koelker was found With his throat cut in a Washington hotel. The gash was on the right side of the neck. William Koelker waa right-handed, and the natural thing in a case of suicide, his brothers claim, would have been to start the gash on the left side. Koelker had $700 when he went to Washington. When he was found there was $1.05 on his person. A signet ring also was missing. T. L. Jeffords, an attorney of Washington, has been engaged by the Koelker family to investigate the case. Edward Koelker has also asked Representative Crago, of Pennsylvania, to assist him in this investigation.

KOHLER, David

After traveling half the road to the home of his childhood, that he had longed to see for many years, and then he spent the remainder of the way in a shroud, after dying in a local railroad station, was the fate of David Kohler, who is believed to have relatives here. Mr. Kohler died yesterday morning in the Western Md. railroad station while, in the company with his aged wife, his daughter and son-in-law, he waited for the 7:35 Pa. railroad train. Mr. Kohler was 72 years old. He was born in Germany and came to this country when he was quite young. He settled in Roaring Branch, Pa., and later moved to near Kitzmiller, Garrett County. There he married and prospered. For years, he wanted to visit the home of his early life in this country, and about a week ago with his family, started for Roaring Branch, when the four arrived here, Mr. Kohler became ill and was taken to the home of friends on Vine Street where he improved steadily. Yesterday the trip to Roaring Branch was resumed. While waiting for the train, Mr. Kohler experienced a choking sensation and this became so serious that Dr. John K. Littlefield was called but the sufferer died before the physician had an opportunity to arrive. Cumb News of 9th.

KOLB, Frederick

CONSUMPTION'S WORK. ~ State and County Tax Collector, Frederick Kolb, Dead.
At ten minutes before one o'clock this morning, at the home of his father, John Kolb, on North Mechanic street, Frederick Kolb passed away. Mr. Kolb was in the 40th year of his age, having been born in this city on June 11th, 1848. From his earliest boyhood he has lived here. In 1884 he was elected State and county tax collector for this district, and went to work collecting for the years 1884 and 1885. His uniform courtesy in performing the duties of this office made him many friends. His father says that up to last Spring Mr. Kolb was apparently as well and hearty as any man. In the early Spring the symptoms of consumption became manifest, and his decline has been rapid, although until three weeks ago he was not confined to his bed. This is the first case of consumption ever known in this family. At an early age Mr. Kolb became a member of the German Lutheran church, and has been fathful in performing his duties there as elsewhere. He was unmarried, but leaves his father and mother, three sisters--Mrs. Chris. Shober and Misses Ann M. and Lizzie Kolb, and four brothers--John A., Andrew, George and Charles L. Kolb, to lament, with his other many friends, his departure among us. He was one of the vice-presidents of Arion Gesang Verein[sic*], who will attend his funeral in a body. The funeral will take place from the German Lutheran Church to-morrow afternoon at 3 o'clock, Revs. Giese and Finkbiner rendering the services in both English and German. The interment will be in the German Lutheran Cemetery. The funeral arrangements are in the hands of the Cumberland Furniture and Casket Co. The pall-bearers will be notified by Mr. Stine.
