Death Of A Well-Known Railroad Watchman
Mr Owen McKone(sic) who had been a watchman on the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad near Brady's and who was well-known in railroad circles, died at his residence near Brady's about 3:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon. The deceased was attending to his duties as usual yesterday morning and about half past eleven he was obliged to be relieved from his work when at the above stated hour he died. Mr McKone was about 45 of age and had been suffering from dyspepsia for several years, the disease not rendering him unfit for duty until yesterday. He was for sometime editor and proprietor of the Cresaptown Inquirer and also a correspondent of the Times. The remains will be brought here early tomorrow morning when High Mass will be held in the St Patrick's church, after which they will be interred in St Patrick's Cemetery at 10 o'clock.

McKILLIP, William J.
 
PIONEER LAID TO REST
William J McKillip was born in Scotland near Glasgow on March 17, 1835.  As a child of four he came to America with his sister, Agnes McAleese, and husband, his mother and father intending to come later.  Soon after his arrival, news was received of the death of his father.  His mother then came to this country, settling in Cumberland, Maryland.  At the age of six his mother departed from him, he then made his home with his older brother John, spending his boyhood days in the Cumberland mountains.  As a young man he came west as far as Jackson County, Iowa, near Bellevue, where he helped break the wild prairies of that country.  On December 25, 1855 he was married to Agnes Campbell who died in April 1873, leaving eight children.  Soon after the death of his wife, he accompanied a train of wagons seeking a good location for a home and settled near the place where Cambridge, Neb is now.  In 1879, he moved to Hayes Co where he settled on Red Willow Creek near Thornburg.  The year following he lost his oldest son, Daniel.  He married Mary Agnes Kummeron on Jan 23, 1887.  To this union four sons were born.  For the last 15 years he has been in ill health, the last six years being helpless.  He died on Feb 14, 1916, surrounded by his sorrowing family.  He leaves to mourn his departure a wife and ten children: Daniel P, Norbert J, John G, Richard F, Agnes Walker, William McKillip, Jennie Schneider all of Thornburg; Mary O'Connor of Cambridge, Neb; Sarah Ludden of Woodward, Okla; Catherine Gale of Kenasaw, Neb; Francis B died in 1909.  He leaves thirty grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and two brothers: James of Hayes Center and Dennis of Iola, Kansas.  Mr McKillip lived and died a practical[sic] Catholic.  He was loved and honored by all.  He was tenderly laid to rest in Sacred Heart Cemetery.  May he rest in peace.

McKINLEY, Robert Lee, Sr.

NEW CASTLE, Pa. - Robert Lee McKinley Sr., 93, of RD 7, died Sunday, March 11, 1990, at the Overlook Medical Center, New Wilmington. Born March 21, 1896 in North Beaver Township, he was a son of the late C.G. and Nancy J. (McKim) McKinley. His first wife, Alma (Benson) McKinley, died in 1950. Mr. McKinley was retired from the Pennsylvania Railroad. He served in World War I with the 323rd Field Artillery. Surviving are his widow, Ruth Wade Everline McKinley, formerly of Frostburg, Md.; a son, Robert McKinley, New Castle; a daughter, Mrs. Lucille McConnell, New Castle; two stepsons, Robert Everline, Westernport, Md., and Howard Everline, of Illinois; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Interment was in Bethel Church Cemetery, North Beaver Township.

NEW CASTLE, Pa. - Ruth S. Everline McKinley, 101, of Road 7, (Mahoningtown) New Castle, died on Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, at the Indian Creek Nursing Home, following an extended illness,  Mrs. McKinley was born on April 10, 1903, in Shaft, Md., and was the daughter of the late Enoch Wade and the late Anna Mary Weinald Wade.  She was married to the late Harmon M. Everline, who died in 1940. She then married Robert Lee McKinley, who died in 1990.  Mrs. McKinley was a member of First Christian Church in Mahoningtown. Survivors include one stepson; one stepdaughter; three daughters-in-law; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and seven step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sons, Robert, John, and Howard Everline. And she was the last of her family as she was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.  Visiting hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 13th at the Marshall Funeral Home, Inc., 341 Main St., Wampum. Visitation will also be from 1 to 2 p.m. before the service on Tuesday in Maryland.  Funeral services will be held at the Salem Church of Christ in Frostburg, Md., on Tuesday, Dec. 14th at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Margie Iddings officiating.  Interment will be at the Frostburg Memorial Park in Maryland.  Memorial Contributions may be sent to the Billy Graham Ministries. Lonaconing, Dec. 12.—Thomas McKinnon. 41, died this morning at the home of his sister, Mrs. Anna Wilson, St. Mary's Terrace, where he had made his home for several years. He was the son of the late Thomas Thompson McKinnon and Marion Mackay McKinnon. Surviving are the following sisters: Mrs Margaret Lloyd, Frostburg; Mrs Marion Connors and Mrs. Anna Wilson, this city; Mrs. Mary Paganhardt, Piedmont, W. Va., and Mrs. Catherine Gardner of Kansas City Kansas.  Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:30 p. m. with the Rev Selden C. Adams officiating. Interment will be In Oak Hill Cemetery. James P. Love Post, American Legion, will attend. Mr. McKinnon was an active member of this organization.

THOS. B. McKINNON, 76, DEAD IN AKRON, OHIO
Lonaconing, Md.. Sept. 17—Thomas B. McKinnon, 76, native of Scotland, who spent practically all his life in Lonaconing, died at the home of  his daughter, Mrs. John Lewis, Akron, Ohio, late last night following a paralytic stroke. He was a miner here for years and was prominent in the Masonic and Pythian orders.  The body will be brought to Lonaconing and the funeral will probably be held Monday.  Ten children survive as follows: Mrs. James Ward, New York; Mrs. Ward B. Barnard, Cumberland, Md; Mrs. Sarah Hosth, Columbus, Ohio;  Mrs. James Martin,  Mrs. John Lewis and Mrs. Bertha McCracklan, Akron, Ohio; Mrs. Fred Wayne, Wheeling, W. Va.;  Mrs. Harry Wilkes, Lonaconing; Henry McKinnon, Ethel, W. Va.; and James McKinnon, Akron, Ohio.  Henry McKinnon, Pittsburgh, is a brother and Mrs. Andrew Brodie, Knapps Meadow, near Lonaconing; Mrs. Samuel Brown, Gilmore, Md.; and Mrs. Elizabeth Cunningham, Pittsburgh, are sisters.  Several brothers and sisters reside in Scotland.

McKISSICK, James

James McKissick of 332 South Croton avenue, well known resident of this city who was for nine years a member of the New Castle police force, died last night at 10:30 in his home. Mr. McKissick was a member of the Epworth M. E. church, of the Protected Home Circle and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Leslie in France, and Raymond, at home, his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. William McKissick, three brothers, Henry of Cascade street, Richard of Harrison street and William Jr., of Cascade street and four sisters, Mrs. Henry J. Sines of East Washington street, Mrs. P. H. Sines of Warren avenue, Mrs. Leroy Ziegler of Warren avenue and Miss Nettie McKissick at home. Funeral arrangements have not yet been made.

William H. McKissick, age 80, died this morning at the home of his daughter Mrs. Henry J. Sines, 1509 East Washington street. He is one of the oldest residents of this city and is a member of the Third U. P. church.  He is survived by the following children, mrs. Henry J. Sines, William McKissick, Henry McKissick, Mrs. Peter Sines, Mrs. Roy Zeigler, and Miss Nettie McKissick all of this city.  Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Sines home 1509 East Washington street. Interment will be made in Oak Park cemetery.

McLAUGHLIN, Miss Margaret

Miss Margaret McLaughlin died this morning at 11:15 o’clock at her home No. 2 Fulton street.  Miss McLaughlin was 66 year old.  She had been ill only a few days, having an attack of pneumonia.  She is survived by one sister, Miss Mary McLaughlin, at the home on Fulton street, and a half-brother, John Hayden, of Illinois.  Miss McLaughlin and her sister have been life-long residents of Cumberland. Their mother who died a number of years ago, kept a boarding house on Fulton Street and after her death the daughters continued it.  The funeral arrangements aren't complete, but the obsequies will probably take place at St Patrick's church Monday morning.  Friends are requested to omit floral tributes.

Miss Mary Agnes McLaughlin, 62, died yesterday at the Klohr Nursing Home, Westminster. Born in Mt. Union, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Edward R. and May Olive (Brant) McLaughlin. She was a member of St. Mary's United Church of Christ, Silver Run. Surviving are two brothers, Paul F. McLaughlin, Raleigh, N.C., and Roy E. McLaughlin, Cumberland; three sisters, Mrs. Annabelle Bear, Smithsburg; Mrs. Betty Blackman and Mrs. Ruth Musser, Las Vegas, Nev. The body is at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, where friends will be received today and tomorrow. Services will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Frank Trotter Jr., officiating. Interment will be in Fort Ashby Cemetery.

Miss Mary Virginia McLaughlin, 84, one of the oldest native-born residents, died late last night at her home, 202 Fulton St.  A daughter of Henry McLaughlin, native of Belfast, Ireland, she was the last of her family.  Her mother was the former Harriet Spitter of Washington Co, Md.  A number of nieces and nephews reside in the West.  Miss McLaughlin was a member of St Patrick's Catholic Church from which the funeral will be held Friday at 9 a.m.  The Rev James I Bifield will officiate.  Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Roy E. McLaughlin, 64, of Lincoln Street, was dead on arrival Tuesday at Memorial Hospital where he was taken after becoming ill at work at the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad. Born Oct. 2, 1917 in Mt. Union, Pa., he was a son of the late Edward M. McLaughlin and Mae (Brandt) McLaughlin. He was a trainman with the B&O Railroad, current president of Lodge 600, United Transportation Union; member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church; a Naval veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Irene Thomas McLaughlin; a son, Roger M. McLaughlin, Annapolis; four stepsons, Ronald Fleek, city; Douglas Fleek, Ridgeley; Robert Thomas, Catonsville; Herbert Thomas, Boca Raton, Fla.; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Jacqueline Collins, city; three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Musser and Mrs. Betty Humbertson, both of LasVegas, Nev.; Mrs. Annabelle Bear, Smithsburg, Md., and nine step-grandchildren. Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home today and tomorrow morning. Services will be conducted tomorrow at 11 a.m. in the Scarpelli Funeral Home by the Rev. Robert Hopkins. FORT ASHBY, W.Va. - Dona June McLucas, 56, of Fort Ashby, died Monday, Dec. 3, 1990, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md. Born June 15, 1934, in Des Moines, Iowa, she was the daughter of John B. and Bonnie (Bilderback) Newbrough, Decorah, Iowa. A 1952 graduate of East High School, Des Moines, she was a musician and lifelong music student. A piano teacher in her home, Mrs. McLucas was a member of Berean Independent Baptist Church, Fort Ashby. She was part of the music ministry that includes Ankeney Baptist Church, Ankeney, Iowa; Norwoodville Baptist Church, Des Moines; Calvary Baptist Church, Decorah; and the Berean Baptist Church. She was also a Sunday School teacher and an adult leader of church youth groups. Also surviving are her husband, the Rev. Ronald V. McLucas; two daughters, Mrs. Bonny J. VanHorn, Houston, Texas; and Mrs. Brenda J. Moore, Austin, Minn.; one sister, Mrs. Joy N. Horn, Belleville, Ill.; and two grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, Cumberland, Tuesday. Services will be conducted there Thursday at 1 p.m. by the Rev. Chris Tjapkes. Interment will be in the Fort Ashby Cemetery.

Frostburg, Md, Dec. 30 — Alexander McLuckie, aged 76, died this morning at 5 o'clock from complications at his home at 158 Bowery street. He was a native of Allegany county. For the past 25 years he had lived a retired life. He was prominent in the affairs of Frostburg Lodge, No. 88, Knights of Pythias. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his widow and the following children: Mrs. Mary McLuckie; four sons, William McLuckie, Fairmont, W. Va.; John McLuckie, New Kensington, Pa.; Arthur McLuckie, Thomas, W. Va., and George McLuckie. this city, and two daughters, Mrs. Bolitho Jeffries, Thomas, W. Va.. and Mrs. Otto Hohing, this city. Four brothers, James and Tony McLuckie, this city; Andrew and Robert McLuckie, Cumberland, and two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Rowe, Cumberland and Miss Margaret McLuckie, this city.

McLUCKIE, Mrs. Alice LaRue

Alice McLuckie, 82, widow of Andrew T. McLuckie, died at her home, Clover Hills Farm, Baltimore pike, today. She had been ill some time. A native of Mt. Savage, she was a daughter of the late William T. and Matilda LaRue. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran church, this city. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. George A. Lapp, this city, and Mrs. Edwin L. Simon, Clover Hills Farm; five sons, William T., Baltimore pike; George V., Bedford road; Harry A., Charles M., Emory B., and A. Norman, all at home; thirteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Andrew Norman McLuckie, 72, of 1810 Frederick Street, died yesterday at Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient one week. Mr. McLuckie was a retired dairy farmer and had operated Clover Hill Dairy Farm on Baltimore Pike, where he resided for 52 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and Allegany County Farm Bureau. A native of Frostburg, he was a son of the late Andrew and Alice (LaRue) McLuckie. Surviving are his widow, Rebecca (McKenzie) McLuckie; a daughter, Mrs. Norma Jean Delaney, Clinton; a brother, Charles McLuckie, Baltimore; three grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m. tomorrow and Thursday at the Silcox-Merritt Funeral Residence. Services will be conducted Friday at l p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Donald Shearer officiating. Interment will be in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Donald Crowe, Kevin Crowe, William McKenzie, Jr., Gary Morrison, Edward Delaney and Galen McKenzie.

McLUCKIE, Arthur B.

WELL KNOWN FROSTBURG MAN DIES Arthur B. McLuckie Expires At Home Near Washington, Following Illness From Accident
Frostburg, Md., Feb. 22 - Arthur Bruce McLuckie, aged 48 years, Relee, Virginia, son of Mr. and Mrs. William McLuckie, 10 Charles street, this place, died Saturday afternoon following an illness of several months. It will be recalled that Mr. McLuckie suffered the loss of his left arm in an accident on the Washington-Virginia Electric Co. line nearly two years ago. He has suffered almost continuously since the arm was amputated, and it is reported that his death was a result of that accident. Mr. McLuckie left Frostburg about seven years ago. His good nature and geniality with everyone made him one of the most popular men in the city. His education was received in the local public schools under the direction of Prof. Alex DeWitt. He would have celebrated his 48th birthday next Thursday, Feb. 25, having been born on that date 1878. Surviving is his widow, Mrs. Margaret Kline McLuckie, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Kline, this place, and three children, Virginia, Earl, and Arthur McLuckie. His parents, William and Ida Virginia McLuckie, Charles street, two brothers, Robert M. McLuckie, of the U.S. Marine Corps, Washington, D.C., and Walter Matthew McLuckie, a realtor, also of Washington, D.C., and two sisters, Mrs. Laura Grace Cannon, Hyattsville, Md., and Mrs. Catherine Elizabeth Porterfield, Martinsburg, W. Va., also survive. The body arrived in Frostburg late last night and was taken to the McLuckie home, 10 Charles street, where the funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock. Rev. W.D. Reese, pastor of the Mt. Zion Baptist church and Rev. Dr. J.O. Nicholson, pastor of the First M.E. church will officiate. Interment will be in the McLuckie cemetery.

McLUCKIE, Arthur Lewis

Frostburg - Arthur Lewis McLuckie, 50, a native of Frostburg, died yesterday at his home in Thomas, W.Va. He had been an invalid 15 years. A son of the late Alexander and Mary (Williamson) McLuckie, he left here at an early age and was formerly employed by the Davis Coal and Coke Company in West Virginia. He was a Mason and a member Thomas Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Precious (Weaver) McLuckie; a son, Arthur L. McLuckie, Jr., Port Arthur, Texas; a daughter, Mrs.James Gainer, Parsons, W.Va.; two sisters, Mrs. S. B. Jeffries, Keyser, W.Va. and Mrs. Otto Hohing, Frostburg, and a brother, George W. McLuckie, Frostburg. Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in Thomas., His brother and Mr. and Mrs. Hohing will attend the funeral.

McLUCKIE, George Willis

George Willis McLuckie, 76, of 1614 Bedford Street, died today in Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient six weeks. He was born in Frostburg, a son of the late Andrew T. and Alice (LaRue) McLuckie. He was a retired steel construction worker and truck gardener and was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. Surviving are his widow, Alice G. Miller McLuckie; two daughters, Mrs. Marian Ruppert and Mrs. Vauda McGann, both of Cumberland; two brothers, Andrew V. McLuckie, Cumberland, and Charles McLuckie, Baltimore; and two grandchildren. The body is at the Silcox-Merritt Funeral Residence, where friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow. A service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home by Rev. Vernon I Naugle, with interment in Sunset Memorial Park.

McLUCKIE, John A.

Frostburg, Md., Nov. 6 — Funeral services for John A. McLuckie. 44, a native of Frostburg, who died at Allegheny Hospital, Tarentum, Pa., will be conducted tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. at the home of his brother, George McLuckie, 138 Bowery street, this place. Rev. Dr. Henry Little, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, will officiate, and interment will be in Allegany Cemetery. Services at the grave will be in charge of Farrady Post No. 24, American Legion. Mr. McLuckie was a World War veteran. Former soldiers will meet at the Legion home at 1:30 p. m. to attend the services. Mr. McLuckie was a clerical employe of the Super Fuel Co., New Kensington, Pa. He left this city about 20 years ago. Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Alexander McLuckie; two other brothers, William, Fairmont, W. Va., and Arthur, Thomas, W. Va.; two sisters, Mrs. S.B. Jeffries, Keyser, W. Va., and Mrs. Otto Hohing, Frostburg.

McLUCKIE, Olin Gerhardt

Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at his home in Toledo, Ohio, for Olin Gerhardt McLuckie, 38, who died Wednesday afternoon in a Toledo hospital. A son of Mrs. Matilda McLuckie and the late Abraham McLuckie, he was a native of Frostburg, where he lived for a number of years. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Edna McLuckie; a son, William Gerhardt McLuckie; his mother, a sister, Mrs. Charles Alcock. and four brothers, Allen, Ross, Henry and Kenneth, all of Toledo, Ohio.

McLUCKIE, Mrs. Rebecca (Mae) McKenzie
 
Mrs. Rebecca (Mae) McLuckie, 66, of 1810 Frederick Street, died yesterday at her residence after an illness of several months. Born in Avilton, Mrs. McLuckie was the daughter of the late Andrew George and Maude (Croft) McKenzie and was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Norman McLuckie in 1976. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and was a member of the Senior Citizens Club. Surviving are one daughter, Norma Jean Delaney, Hughesville; two brothers, Bernard and William McKenzie, both of Cumberland; three sisters, Mrs. Genevieve Green, Elyria, Ohio; Pauline Ross, Frostburg, and Nora Crowe, Avilton, and three grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Silcox-Merritt Funeral Residence today from 7 to 9 p.m. and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at SS. Peter and Paul Church, Friday at 10 a.m. with interment in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Earl McKenzie, Galen McKenzie, William L. McKenzie, Jr., Kevin Crowe, Walter Green, Donald Ross, and Mervin Broadwater.

McLUCKIE, Rosswell

Word has been received here of the death of Rosswell McLuckie, about 56, son of Mrs. Matilda McLuckie and the late A. L. McLuckie, formerly of Frostburg, in Toledo, Ohio, Friday. The family resided in Allegany County for some time before moving to Toledo, where his mother now lives. Mrs. Herbert S. Rawlings, Pinto, is an aunt. Funeral services will be conducted at noon tomorrow in Toledo. Interment will take place there.

McLUCKIE, William E.

Frostburg - William E. McLuckie, 65, a native of this community, died Tuesday morning at his home in Fairmont, W.Va., after an illness of three years. His parents were the late Alexander and Mary McLuckie. Mr. McLuckie was employed by the Consolidation Coal Company in Fairmont. He belonged to Fairmont Presbyterian Church and Mt. City Lodge No. 99, A. F. and A. M., Frostburg. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Agnes Robertson McLuckie. formerly of Lonaconing; a son, William E. McLuckie Jr., of Fairmont; and three daughters, Mrs. Mary Collins, Martinsburg, W. Va., Mrs. Betty Meredith, Elkins, W. Va., and Miss Margaret McLuckie, at home. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Belle Jeffries, Keyser, W. Va., and Mrs. Mayme Hohing, Frostburg; and two brothers, George W. McLuckie, Frostburg, and Arthur McLuckie, Thomas, W. Va. Funeral services will be held in Fairmont.

The funeral of Miss Anna McMahon. who died Monday at her home in Ocean, Md, was held yesterday morning at 10 o'clock from St Joseph Catholic Church, Ocean, requiem high being celebrated. Miss McMahon was one of the most widely known women of Ocean. She is survived by three sisters: Mrs Harry J Kane of Washington, D C; Mrs James Winters of Cumberland; Miss Rose McMahon at home and by four brothers: Philip in France; Corporal Hugh McMahon stationed at Camp Meade, Annapolis Junction, Md and John and Joseph McMahon of Midland

McMAHON, Mrs. Anne C. Kearney
 
Mrs. Anne C. McMahon, 70, widow of Hugh T. McMahon, 523 Shriver Avenue, died yesterday afternoon in Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient for one week.  Mrs McMahon was a native of Midland and a daughter of the late George and Margaret Comer Kearney.  She was a member of St Patrick's Catholic Church, the Sodality of the Parish and LaSalle Alumni Mothers Club.  Surviving are two sons, Thomas J McMahon, city and Robert M McMahon, Washington, D.C.; three daughters, Mrs Joseph F Stakem and Mrs James F Scarpelli, both of this city and Mrs John W Schoenborn, Las Cruces, N.M and one brother, Edward Kearney, Meyersdale, Pa. and nine grandchildren.  The body is at the Scarpelli Funeral Home where the family will receive friends today and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.  Requiem mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 9 a.m. at St Patrick's Catholic Church.  Celebrant will be Very Rev Monsignor P Francis Murphy, a nephew of the deceased.  Interment will be in the parish cemetery.  The LaSalle Mothers Club will recite the rosary at the funeral home tomorrow at 8 p.m.  Pallbearers will be Joseph F Divico, William G Smith, Robert P Stakem, John W Stotler, Casper R Taylor and Leroy Zarger.

McMAHON, Hugh 
 
Hugh McMahon, 77 years of age, retired farmer, died Friday afternoon at his home in Garrett County, five miles west of Frostburg, as a result of pneumonia. He was born in 1846 in County Monahgan, Ireland and came to this country when a youth. For many years he was a miner at Vale Summit, later taking up farming, following it for 28 years. He was the last surviving member of his family, having been preceded in death by the late Philip McMahon, Joseph McMahon and Mrs Ellen Kelly, brothers and sister. His wife died less than a year ago. Mr McMahon is survived by nine children: Daniel and Joseph, Pittsburgh, Pa; James, Mount Clemens, Mich; Mrs W B Wagner, Elk Lick, Pa; Mary J, Clara, Hugh C, Leo and Marshall McMahon at home. The funeral will be held Monday morning at 10 o'clock with high mass at St Michael's Catholic church at Frostburg. Interment will be in the family plot in the church cemetery.

McMAHON, Hugh Thomas

Hugh Thomas McMahon, foreman of the Queen City Brewing Company at Cumberland, died Saturday afternoon at his home at 628 North Centre street, Cumberland Md , after a brief illness. He was a sergeant in the First World War. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Anna Kearney McMahon; two sons, three daughters, one sister, and two brothers including Philip McMahon of Connellsville. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 9 o'clock Tuesday morning at St Patricks Church there.

DEATH OF MR. McMAHON.
Mr. James McMahon Died Early This Morning at His Home in Midland.

Lonaconing, Md., Feb. 27 — James McMahon, aged 26, son of Mr. Philip McMahon, of Ocean, died at 4 o'clock this morning, at his home in Midland, of heart disease. Mr. McMahon was a coal miner and lived with his wife and child in Midland. He was taken seriously ill with the disease that caused his death about three months ago, and was forced to discontinue work. He rallied and the prospects were bright for his recovery. Last week he was able to be about the streets of Midland, but last night he was suddenly taken ill, hours later succumbed. Dead man is survived by his wife, before marriage Miss Rose Byrnes: a young daughter, Esther; his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Philip McMahon of Ocean: four brothers, Hugh, John, Joseph and Philip, and four sister. Rose and Annie, of Ocean: Mrs. Harry Cain, of Washington and Mrs James Winters. Mr. McMahon was a member of Midland Council Knights of Columbus, who will have charge of the burial services, which will be held in St. Michael's Catholic Church, Frostburg.

MR. McMAHON BURIED.
Funeral Was the Largest Ever Occured in Midland.

Midland, March 1.— The funeral of James McMahon, son of Mr. and Mrs. Philip McMahon, who died Monday morning of heart disease, took place this morning with a high mass in requiem in St. Joseph's Catholic church at 10:30 o'clock. The mass was celebrated by Rev. Father John J. Dillon, of Washington, an uncle of the dead man, Rev. Father Mackel, pastor of St. Joseph's spoke the sermon. The funeral was without doubt the largest that ever occurred in Midland, being a brilliant testimony to esteem in which the young man was held. The pallbearers ware: John Kenny, John Salb, John McGrady, Robert Hill, Wm. O'Rourke, Wm. Broderick, Wm. Thomas and Patrick Doolan. The flower bearer were: Dave Shutz, Timothy Killuss, John Kenny, Bernard Killuss, Michael Monahan, Patrick McGuire, Carl Byrne, Charles McGann, Thos. Conlon and Peter Monahan. After the church services the body was taken to Frostburg on the Cumberland and Pennsylvania train, the train stopping at the Wright's crossing to allow the cortege to move to St. Michael's cemetery, where interment was made.

Funeral of John McMahon.
Funeral services for John McMahon, 45 years of age, who died yesterday, will take place from his home in Midland Monday morning. After a brief service at the house, the body will be taken to St. Stephen's Catholic Church, where a requiem mass will be celebrated. Burial will be in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Frostburg.
Mr McMahon, who was a director National Bank of Midland, is survived by his wife and four children. Three brothers and a sister also survive. He was a son of the late Mr.and Mrs. Phillip McMahon

Hubert Ashby McMannis, little son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard McMannis, of Dobbin, W. Va., who was born November 15, 1911, died of pneumonia October 31, 1913, aged 1 year, 11 months and 16 days. Hubert was a bright and affectionate little boy. Always having a smile for everyone. He leaves to mourn his loss, father, mother, one little brother, grandfathers and grandmothers, besides a host of relatives and friends.

The body will remain at Boal's funeral home. Westernport, Feb 26 - Services for Joseph A. McManus, 93, husband of Mrs. Nancy McManus, Franklin, were held Tuesday from Boal's Funeral Home here.  The Rev. William Wilkinson, pastor of the Franklin Mission, officiated.  Interment was in Morrison cemetery, Reynolds, Md. Pallbearers were Raymond Westfall, Joseph Imperio, Carl Shaffer, George Quinn, Vern Riggleman and Lewis Riggleman.  Members of the Mission church were flowerbearers.

McMILLAN, Adam

Adam B. McMillan died at his home on Railroad street at 6:30 a. m. yesterday after a brief illness. Mr. McMillan was born at Phoenix, near Westernport, 43 years ago and was the son of the late Adam McMillan, who died in Lonaconing more than 10 years ago. His mother, wife and six children survive, him. Mr. McMillan lived practically all his life in Lonaconing, and was in business here several years. He leaves his brothers, William, Alexander, Hugh, Robert and Joseph, and sisters, Mrs. John Scott Mrs. George Eichhorn and Mrs. Samuel James. He was a member of the Jr. Order U A M, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Knights of the Mystic Chain. The Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie No. 773, Lonaconing, will meet in their hall tomorrow at 1 o'clock to arrange to attend the funeral, the time of which will be announced later.

MIDLAND — Mrs. Bertha C. McMillan, 73, died yesterday in Pontiac, Michigan. A native and former resident of here, she was a daughter of the late John A. and Mary (Nolan) McGowan. She was, a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the sodality. Surviving are her husband, Hugh G. McMillan; two sons, Edward J. McMillan, Baltimore, and Robert H. McMillan, here; a daughter, Mrs. Randall Wiley, Grantsville; a sister, Mrs. Nellie Mills, Gilmore; a brother, William McGowan, Mina, Nev.; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchidlren. The body will be returned to the Eichhorn Funeral Home in Lonaconing. The rosary will be recited there Wednesday at 8 p.m.

McMILLAN, George B.

Dead From Broken Back.
George B.. McMillan, aged 72, died yesterday morning at 7:30 at Miners' Hospital, Frostburg, where he has been confined for several months, suffering with a broken back and minor injuries. On May 30, Mr. McMillan fell from a hay loft at his home in Moscow. He was a native of Lonaconing and lived here practically his entire life. For the past few years he had lived in Moscow, a short distance from this place. He is survived by six children.

McMILLAN, Hugh

OLDEST CITIZEN PASSES AWAY ~ Hugh McMillan Died at the Aged of Ninety-two Years.
Lonaconing. Md., May 10
The oldest resident of Garrett county is dead a t the age of 92. Hugh McMillan died at his home just across the Garrett county line at 11:20 Saturday night. He had been In a semiconscious condition several days, and as the Scotch say “slippit awa" peacefully.  Hugh McMillan was born in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland, August 19, 1818. In 1832 he sailed for Nova Scotia and worked in the Albion mines several years. He was married there in 1839 to Miss Margaret Scott(sic) and in 1841 Mr. and Mrs. McMillan came to the United States, and he found employment in Pottsville, Pa., where they remained three years and then came to Cumberland, remaining there a year. They returned to Pennsylvania in 1845, locating at Bolivar. Several years later Mr. McMillan returned to Nova Scotia and remained there two or three years.  In 1852 the McMillans came to Lonaconing, where he mined coal and at times taught school. He had obtained a good working education in Scotland, was a very good mathematician, and knew something about civil engineering. He taught school at Pompey Smash, and later taught in Lonaconing, in the Henekamp building at first and later in a house rented from William Atkinson. Mr. McMillan in the ’70’s occupied the little log house known then as the Jackson school. Some of his pupils of these early days are still living hereabouts.  Mr. McMillan helped to put down the first slope of the Maryland mines at Eckhart in 1849. He was superintendent of the Franklin and Phoenix mines from 1861 to 1868. He was twice drafted during the Civil War.  When first drafted he procured a substitute, and was over the age limit when drafted again. He sent his oldest son, Hugh, to the front at the first call for volunteers. Hugh was killed at the second Bull Run.  Mr. McMillan's wife died in August 1903, leaving ten children, all of whom are living. They are: Hugh and George, of District No. ll. Garrett county, James, of Lonaconing, and John, of East Pittsburg, Pa.; Mesdames James Weir, F. P. Green and John Greene all of District No. ll. Garrett county; Mesdames Thos. Bell, Daniel Young and John Johnson, all of Lonaconing.  A long and useful life is ended, but up to the very last Hugh McMillan took a keen interest in public affairs.  He was a greedy reader, and almost entertaining conversationalist and well liked to have some one come out from the busy world to the peaceful little cottage, where the old man lived in comfort with his son, Hugh — named after the soldier who fell at Manassas—and talk to him of old times, and especially if the visitor was one of his old pupils.

DEAD AT AGE OF 29
Frostburg, Md.. May 8—James Robert McMillan, aged 29 years, brother of the late Ray McMillan, of pugilistic fame, died from a heart attack at his home in Eckhart this morning at 5:40 o'clock. He had been ill for the past six months. His mother, Mrs. Ella Cavan, is the sole survivor.  He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society.  Prior to his illness he was employed by the Cumberland and Allegheny Gas Co., Cumberland, for the past five years.

McMILLAN, Joseph

Joseph McMillan died at his home on Allegany Street Saturday afternoon.  He was 43 years old and was born in Lonaconing.  He was a son of Adam McMillan and was a coal miner.  He was affected with asthma which compelled him to leave the mine some time ago.  His surviving brothers are: William, Robert, Alexander and Hugh.  His sisters are Mrs John Scott, Mrs George Eichhorn and Mrs Samuel James.  Funeral today at 2 o'clock.  Interment at Oak Hill.  Rev H L Earnest will preach the funeral sermon at the house.

McMILLAN, Mrs. Margaret Scott

Wednesday
Mrs Hugh McMillan died Monday night at her home adjoining Mr James Weir's farm.  Her illness was short and her death was not the result of disease, but rather at the burning out of a candle.  The remains were conveyed to the home of her son-in-law, Mr Daniel Young in Detmold yesterday.  The funeral occurred this afternoon.  Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery.  Rev A C Thomson officiated.  Mrs McMillan was born in Scotland 79 years ago last May.  At the age of twelve with her parents she came to America and settled in Nova Scotia.  Here she lived for a number of years and married Mr Hugh McMillan.  They then moved into Pennsylvania in the hard coal region.  Later coming into Maryland.  Barrelsville, Eckhart, Franklin, Lonaconing and Newburg, W Va have been their homes.  To the younger element of our population, Mrs McMillan was not well known as she had lived in Garrett County for the last 18 years.  The older people of the town know her well, remembering when her husband was principal of the school here, also superintendent of the Big Vein mine.  The family consisted of fifteen children, ten of whom with her husband survive her.  The children are: Messrs James, George, John and Hugh McMillan; Mrs James Weir, Mrs Thomas Bell, Mrs Daniel Young, Mrs Frank Green and Mrs Mollie Green.  Her son, William, died several years ago from injuries received in the Big Vein mine.

FROSTBURG—Mrs. Mary E. McMillan, 78, widow of Charles McMillan, formerly of McKeesport, Pa., died early Thursday morning in the Allegany Hospital, Cumberland, where she had been a patient since October 15. She was the daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Farley) Feldman.  Survivors include one sister, Miss Lillian Feldman, Eckhart, with whom she made her home; a brother, James Feldman, Fairmont, W.Va., and a number of nieces and nephews.  Mrs. McMillan was a member of the St. Michael's Catholic Church.  A funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday at 9:30 a. m. and burial will be in the church cemetery. The body is at the Durst Funeral Home.  All members of the Blessed Mother Sodality of St. Michael's Church are expected to meet at 8 p. m. at the Durst Funeral Home this evening to recite the rosary.

A life-long resident of this city, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Margaret (Huffman) Myers. Besides her husband, she is survived by five sons: David R. and William J. McMillan, both of this city; Hugh J., Dwight, and John McMillan, all at home; two daughters, Mrs. Barbara Dorsey, Baltimore; Mrs. Shirley Zembower, city; a brother, Herbert Myers, Flintstone; two sisters, Mrs. John Lintz, Detroit; and Mrs. Francis Farrady, Clarksburg, W. Va.; and three grandchildren. The body will remain at the Scarpelli Funeral Home where services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p. m. by Rev. William Anderson, pastor of Oldtown Methodist Church. Burial will be in Oliver Grove Cemetery.

Catholic Church Frostburg Filled To Standing Room by Admiring Friends of Dead Boxer ~ Volley Fired [over] Open Grave by Squad of World War Veterans of Farrady Post.
Frostburg, Md - Dec 11 - The funeral of Ray McMillan, son of Mrs Ellen McMillan, Eckhart, who died as a result of injuries received in a boxing contest with Al Roberts, Staten Island, New York in a Jersey City ring Tuesday night took place at 9 o'clock this morning from St Michael's Catholic Church.  High requiem mass was celebrated and Rev James J Quinn, pastor, preached a most impressive sermon on "Necessities of Life" which was listened to by such an outpouring of friends and his family as to fill the edifice to standing room only.  The obsequies were in charge of the Farrady Post, American Legion of which Mr McMillan was a member.  Dr E A Everett, Post Commander, conducted the services in behalf of the World War Veterans while the firing squad which shot a volley over the open grave in which had been lowered the massive casket laden with beautiful flowers, was in charge of Alvin Morton.  The honorary pallbearers were: Michael Bynres, John Nelson, Joseph Nolan, James Close, Cecil Carter and Robert Davis, while the active pallbearers were William Lavin, John Nolan, Michael Sullivan, Robert Lee, Annan Price and Francis Duffy.  Charles A. Kolb, boxing promoter, Newark, New Jersey, who introduced McMillan to the Eastern boxing center after he had achieved some success in the game in McKeesport and Pittsburgh, and who was retained as manager for the Eckhart boy, and J. K. Kolm, one of McMillan's training partners, also of Newark, New Jersey, attended the funeral. Mr. Kolb brought with him last night a purse of $5OO contributed by promoters, boxers and friends of McMillan in Newark, which was presented to McMillan's mother, who is a widow. Mr. Kolb stated that plans were under way for the holding of a big benefit boxing carnival in Newark in the near future, the proceeds of which will be given to Mrs. McMillan. According to Kolb, McMillan was not having any trouble with Roberts and was unscratched when carried from the ring. Roberts was considered more or less an easy opponent for the rugged Eckhart boy who had been gaining national prominence by his rapid rise up tho pugilistic ladder. Rebecca McMillan, 47 years old, wife of Alexander B. McMillan, died Sunday evening at her home on Big Vein Hill, following an illness of three years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Pythian Sisters. She was a daughter of the late Postmaster and Mrs. John McFarland. Besides her husband she is survived by one daughter, Margaret, and the following brothers and sisters: Former Sheriff Peter C. McFarland and Patrolman William McFarland, Cumberland, and Alexander and James McFarland,  Lonaconing, and Mrs. Gustavo Schaidt, Lonaconing; Mrs. John Atkinson, Pittsburgh and Mrs. Bonnie Schweickert New York.

McMullen Rites Here Thursday
Mrs Anna Mary McMullen, 89, widow of Hugh A McMullen, former Comptroller of the State of Maryland, died last night in Sacred Heart Hospital where she was admitted four months ago with a hip injury suffered in a fall at her residence, 515 Washington St.  A requiem high mass will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at St Patrick's Catholic Church, of which she was a member, with Rev J Lawrence Kilkenny, pastor, as celebrant.  Interment will be in Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery.  The body is at the residence.  Mrs McMullen was born August 28, 1865, a daughter of the late Dennis and Bridget Mulledy, of Mt Savage.  She attended St Edward's Academy here and also held membership in St Patrick's Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary.  Her husband, a prominent Cumberland businessman for many years died November 6, 1937.  Surviving are two sons, Daniel F and John J McMullen, city; five daughters: Mrs Luther P Shaffer, city; Mrs John R Gloninger, Pittsburgh; Mrs William E Delaney, Williamsport, Pa; Mrs William C Jacob and Mrs Henry A Mackey, at home: 25 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren.

McMULLEN 16 May 1900 Mrs Elizabeth R McMullen died last night at Frostburg, aged 70 years. She was born near Frederick city and is the mother of the firm of McMullen Brothers. She is survived by husband, Hugh McMullen Sr and children: Mary, wife of James Barrett; Miss Catherine; Daniel McMullen of Frostburg; and Hugh A McMullen and John P McMullen of Cumberland. The funeral is Friday at Frostburg.

FORMER STATE COMPTROLLER, HUGH A MCMULLEN, 78, DIES ~ Leading Business Figure For Nearly 50 Years Had Been Ill For Many Months ~ WIDELY ESTEEMED ~ Built Great Store Here And Was First Head Of Liberty Trust Company
Hugh A. McMullen, who would have been 78 on December 9, died at his home, 515 Washington street, last night after a long illness that had kept him confined to his home for over a year and a half. All the surviving members of his family were with him at the end. Prominent in the commercial and financial life of Western Maryland over a half century; comptroller of the State of Maryland from 1916 to 1920 and first president of Liberty Trust Company, Mr McMullen was esteemed and admired by thousand of friends.
Survived his brother
He was the third and last survivor of the McMullen Brothers who were prominent in the commercial and finances of Allegany County throughout their lives. They were John P McMullen, Daniel F McMullen and Hugh A McMullen. They were the sons of Hugh McMullen, a native of County Armagh, Ireland, who first came to Allegany county about the year 1840 who established here a permanent residence after the Mexican War in which he served in the United States army. The elder McMullen married Eliza Ryan, a native of Frederick county, Maryland. The ceremony took place in St Patrick's Catholic church, Cumberland. Five children were born to this union grew up and became residents of Cumberland. Daniel F was born in Franklin, Md October 6, 1873, died June 6, 1917; Mrs Mary Barrett, wife of James Barrett, born July 4, 1856 died April 2, 1933; Hugh A born in Franklin December 9, 1859; John P born in Franklin August 4, 1863, died March 12, 1914 and Katherine McMullen born at Franklin 1865, now residing in Baltimore. The parents of the McMullen family lived to a ripe age. Mrs McMullen died at Frostburg, February 6, 1900 (1899) in her 72nd year. Mr McMullen died at Frostburg, February 5, 1904 in his 79th year. About 1869, while the family was living at Westernport, Hugh McMullen, the father, who had been reasonably successful business enterprises met with financial reverses that left him out of business and in debt.

Elected State Comptroller
Always a diligent student and observer of public affairs and political movements, Mr. McMullen declined to take active interest in politics until 1915, when he was nominated for the office of State Comptroller by the Democratic party. He was elected at the general election of November in 1915, and took office January 1916. (Abridged)

On June 18, 1889, Hugh A McMullen married Miss Anna Mullady, a daughter of Mr and Mrs Denis Mullady, Mt Savage. To this union were born eight children, three sons and five daughters. They are: Daniel F McMullen; Hugh A McMullen, Jr, who died in 1928; John J McMullen; Mrs Luther P Shaffer, city; Mrs John A Gloninger, Pittsburgh; Mrs Josephine Mackey, Cumberland; Mrs W E Delaney, Williamsport, Pa and Mrs Helen Jacob, Pittsburgh.

DEATH CLAIMS JOHN MCMULLEN ~ The Funeral Will Be Held Here Monday. DIED AT HOT SPRINGS, ARK. Local Merchant Had Gone West With Relatives And Friends In Search Of Health-Had Been Ill For Months But Death Was Unexpected.
The body of John Patrick McMullen, junior member of the firm of McMullen Brothers, who died at Hot Springs, Arkansas, yesterday afternoon from an attack of Bright's Disease will be brought here for burial tomorrow Baltimore and Ohio Train No 12 arriving in the city at 10:20 and will be taken at once to his late home on Washington Street. Mr McMullen accompanied by his brother Hugh A McMullen and Henry J Glick of this city, a close personal friend, left here last Thursday evening for Hot Springs on Baltimore and Ohio Train No ?1, in the hopes of recuperating in some measure his much shattered health. At Cincinnati, they were joined by Dr. Averdick, a specialist of that city, who made the trip to Hot Springs with them. Messages received here by his family on Sunday and Monday from Hugh A McMullen, the brother of the deceased, were very encouraging, but on Tuesday a change for the worse took place and Mr McMullen condition became dangerously critical. He sank rapidly and yesterday afternoon passed quietly away in the arms of his brother. The trouble which resulted in Mr McMullen death dates back to the autumn of 1912 when his health began to fail. Mr McMullen visited an expert physician who after a thorough examination announced his trouble to be Bright's Disease. Mr McMullen was born at Franklin, Md, near Westernport, August 4, 1863. He was the son of Hugh and Eliza Ryan McMullen. Mr McMullen was a man of liberal education of which he obtained in the parochial schools at Westernport and Lonaconing, supplementing his early acquirement of knowledge with systemic reading throughout the years of his youth and early manhood. Mr McMullen is survived by his widow who was Rose McNamee of Mt Savage and two children, Richard McMullen, a student at LaSalle Institute, aged 16 and Dorothy, aged 13. His surviving sisters and brothers are: Mrs James Barrett and Miss Katherine McMullen and Mr Daniel F McMullen and Mr Hugh J McMullen all of this city. Mr McMullen was one of the organizer of the local council Knights of Columbus and had filled the chair of Grand Knight for the State of Maryland. The funeral arrangements will be announced later. The funeral will be at St Patrick's Church and burial in SS Peter and Paul cemetery. The McMullen department is closed on account of Mr McMullen's death.

John R. McMullen died at Miners Hospital, Frostburg, early Thursday morning, following an illness of one year of complications. Mr. McMullen was born here 74 years ago, and resided here all his life. Starting as an apprentice plasterer at 11 years, he followed this trade for 62 years. His reputation for proficiency and business integrity in his chosen work is well known throughout this region. His wife died 2 years ago. Mr. McMullen is survived by sisters Mrs. Bernice Dudley, Eckhart, and Mrs. J.C. Willson, Baltimore; brother, George McMullen; and daughters, Mrs. Raymond Ogden, LaVale; Mrs. L.J. Ball, Clearfield, Pa.; Mrs. Jennie Fisher, Eckhart, and one son, Frank, this place. Mr.McMullen was a member of Coal Valley Council No. 7, Jr.O.U.A.M. and the Eckhart Methodist Episcopal church. Funeral will be held from the home with interment in the Eckhart Cemetery.

Kitzmiller, Md., Dec. 17 — William Alex McMurdo, 73, died Monday at his home at Emeryville, W. Va., of a heart attack. Burial was in Hartmonsville Cemetery this afternoon. He is survived by his widow, Pearl Junkins McMurdo and five children by a former marriage, Mrs. Josephine Folk, Westernport; John McMurdo and Mrs. Robert Yenhart, Akron, Ohio; Harry McMurdo, Washington; and Mrs. Ellis Weise, Westernport. Bessie Mae McNair, 75, of Kingwood, died Saturday, September 11, 2010, at her home. She was born June 13, 1935, in Kingwood, a daughter of the late William R. and Edna Groves Nicholson. She was a clerk in the H P Store, the 5 & 10, the Plaza Drug Store, A & A Office Helpers, all in Kingwood and worked in the Kinney Shoe Factory. She was a member of the Nicholson Chapel Church and a member of the Rowlesburg Chapter 127, OES. She is survived by her husband, Howard S. McNair; two sons and spouses, William and Kimberly McNair and Edward and Rita McNair, all of Kingwood; a sister, Mary Prince, of Kingwood and four grandchildren. BROTHER DAN KILLED IN CRASH OF AIRPLANE
Flaming death ended the spectacular career of "Brother Dan" McNally, 42, known as the "Flying Evangelist," when his plane crashed yesterday at the Binghampton, N. Y., airport. His wife. Dorothy, 27, and their daughter, Kathleen, four, also died in the wreck. The craft went into a spin 100 feet off the ground and burst into flames when it crashed. Mrs. Mary Wicks, 37, of Binghampton, was thrown clear and was taken to a hospital with a fractured hip and other injuries. 

Native of County
A native of Franklin, this county, McNally ran away from home when he was thirteen and served several terms in western prisons for various crimes. In 1924, he entered evangelistic work and wrote a book, "From Crime to Christ," describing his career and conversion. He was located in Los Angeles for several years and came here in 1938, taking an active part in the municipal campaign and establishing a colony known as Danville, along the McMullen Highway.
Moved To Baltimore
After leaving here, he located in Baltimore, where he bought a plane and traveled to various cities to conduct services. He was conducting a revival in a Binghampton church this week and recently purchased the plane that crashed yesterday. McNally is survived by his mother, Mrs. Ellen (Brophy) McNally, of Baltimore, and eight sisters, Mrs. Mary C. France, Josephine and Jane McNally, all of Baltimore; Mrs., Agnes Hunt, Detroit; Mrs. Paul B. Wolfklll, Piedmont; Mrs. Margaret Edwards, Mrs. Catherine Lepperman, Bellaire, O., and Mrs. Madeline Chappell, Barton. His wife, a native of Portland, Ore., is survived by her parents and two brothers there. The bodies will be taken to Baltimore.

"Mrs. Ellen Brophy McNally, formerly of Westernport, died Tuesday morning at her residence, 2328 East North avenue, Baltimore.  Requiem mass will be held at 9 o'clock tomorrow morning at St. Katherine's church, Baltimore.  Interment will be in Morland Memorial park, there. The widow of Daniel McNally, who died in February 1932, Mrs. McNally was the mother of Rev. Dan McNally, the evangelist who with his wife and young daughter was killed when his airplane crashed about seven years ago.  She moved from Westernport to Baltimore about six years ago.  Surviving children are: Mrs. Agnes Gibbas, of Detroit; Mrs. Mary France, Patrick McNally, Mrs. Paul Wolfkill, Josephine and Jane, of Baltimore; Mrs. Catherine Lepperman, of Bellaire, O., Mrs. Margaret Raines, of Wheeling, W. Daniel McNamara died Saturday (24 Jan) at his residence on Maryland Avenue in his 72nd year. He was born in County Claire, Ireland in Aug 1819. He was once a watchman for the C & O Canal at the basin wharf. Three sons, John and James of PA and Edward of this city; and 2 daughters, Mrs Mary Moley of Butler Co. PA and Miss Ellen McNamara of this city all survive. The funeral is from St Patrick's today.

Died This Afternoon
Miss Fannie J McNamara, daughter of Mr Daniel D McNamara, died at the residence of her father, No 39 Elm Street this afternoon at 1:15 o'clock in the 22nd year of her age after a lingering illness of four months.  The funeral will take place at 2:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon.  The deceased was some time a clerk in the store of Messrs Fisher Bros on Baltimore Street.

Mt. Savage, Md., April 23 ~ Mrs. Mary Ann McNamara, aged 73 years, wife of James McNamara, of Hazelwood, Pa., died Tuesday morning at the home of her brother, Frank Cunningham, Youngstown, O., with whom she was spending the Easter holidays. Mrs. McNamara was a former resident of Mt. Savage, being born and raised here. She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Cunningham. Besides her husband, she is survived by two brothers, Michael Cunningham, New York City, and John Cunningham, Mt. Savage.  The funeral will take place on Friday morning at 9 o'clock with a requiem high mass at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Hazelwood, Pa. Interment will be made in Calvary Cemetery.

CHARLES P. MCNAMEE DIES AT MT. SAVAGE
Retired Superintendent of C. & P. R. R. Succumbs After Illness of Two Years
Charles P. McNamee, superintendent of the Cumberland & Pennsylvania Railroad until his retirement in 1934, died at his home, in Mt. Savage this morning after an illness of two years. Mr. McNamee was son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. McNamee of Mt. Savage and was 68 years old. He was with the C & P. Railroad for 43 years and was responsible for many devices for the improvement of railroad train operations, some of which were adopted by manufacturers and are now in general use. Of a genial disposition and even temperament, he was known throughout the territory in which for many years he was engineer of C & P trains, later being appointed to executive positions in company shops at Mt Savage and then to the superintendency until his retirement four years ago. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Alice Malloy McNamee, two sons, Edward M. and Thomas P. McNamee and two daughters, the Misses Coleta and Mildred McNamee, all at home. Three sisters, Mrs. Rose B. McMullen, this city, and Miss Katherine McNamee and Mrs Joseph P. Noonan, and a brother, Frank J. McNamee, all of Mt. Savage, also survive. Funeral services will be held from the home, Foundry Road. Mt. Savage, Saturday, with requiem high mass at St. Patrick's Church there at 9 o'clock.

Victim of Brief Illness
Edward Malloy McNamee, comptroller of Liberty Trust Company died last night in Sacred Heart Hospital after a brief illness. He was admitted to the hospital Saturday. Mr McNamee, 64, started his banking career in 1920 with the old Third National Bank. That institution merged with three other banks to become Liberty Trust. Experienced in all department of the banking institution, he was appointed comptroller in 1949 and held the post until his death. Born in Mt. Savage, a son of the late James P. and Alice R. (Malloy) McNamee, he was graduated in 1917 from LaSalle Inslitute, now LaSalle High School. A veteran of World War 1, he held membership in Fort Cumberland Post 13,. American Legion. Mr. McNamee was also was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society of the parish. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Anna M. (Shank) McNamee; two daughters, the Misses Mary Clare and Alice Ann McNamee, both at home; a brother, Thomas J. McNamee, LaVale, and two sisters, Miss Coleta M. McNamee and Mrs. Ryan P. Farrell, both of Mt Savage. The body is at the George Funeral Home where friends will be received today from 7 to 9 p. m. and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p. m.

Capt. Jesse C. McNeill, late captain of the famous McNeill Rangers, died at his home in Seymoursville, Illinois, on Sunday, March 3rd. At the outbreak of the war he resided in Missouri, whither his father had moved from Hardy Co. prior to the former's birth. Father and two sons, Jesse and George, entered the Confederate army in the west and were under the command of General Price. George was killed at the battle of Lexington, while Jesse and his father, Capt. Jno H., were taken prisoners. They were removed to Chicago and making their escape worked their way through to the South Branch Valley. From here, Capt Jno H. went to Richmond and got a commission to raise a company. At that time, General Imboden was attempting to raise a regiment of partisan rangers and McNeill joined this. When Imboden's regiment was taken into the regular Confederate army, McNeill withdrew his company which, from that time on was known as McNeill's Rangers. Capt J H McNeill was wounded at Mt Jackson in 1864 and died shortly after at Harrisonburg. His son, Capt Jesse, commanded the Rangers from that time until the end of the war. He was in command at the time of the Cumberland raid when Generals Cook and Kelley were captured. So far as we know but two men in this immediate section were with the company, W H Maloney and Geo H Johnson, the latter a member of the seventh regiment and the former a member of McNeill's command. Capt McNeill was recognized by friend and foe as a gallant officer and high-class citizen. The First Lietuenant of the Rangers. I. S. Welton, still survives and resides at Petersburg, Grant County.

The recent death of Capt. Jesse C. McNeill in Mahomet, Ill, revives the unique position occupied by the gallant troop known as McNeill Rangers and the splendid service they performed in Northern Va. General Lee had not in his service a more industrious and efficient force than that band which patrolled the mountains and narrow valleys of northern Va. and whose captures in proportion to the force employed were second to no other body of Confederates. The capture of two major generals, Cook and Kelly in Cumberland Md, is celebrated as one of the most daring feats of the War of the States. It is so pronounced by Gen John B Gordon in his Reminiscence of the War and a similar tribute is paid by Gov. C. T. O'Ferral, of Va. in his "Four Years of Active Service". In the estimation of the general public, McNeill won his spurs in that remarkable capture, but his men felt that his incident was matched by many others in daring and success. His audacious boldness, coupled with consummate skill, gave him mastery of a situation when all the odds were against him. The intrepid young leader was young when as first lieutenant he succeeded his father, who had fallen mortally wounded in a charge to the command of the Rangers - secured and held the confidence and good will of his men to the down fall of the Confederacy and in the long years which have followed he grew in their esteem and affection, and remained till death the central and engaging figure in the group. The wide circle of devoted friends and the happy home which he loved most and served best testify to those manly and tender qualities which made him a leader in war and a favorite in peace. -Charlestown Free Press

Delores "Suzie" Walker McNeil, 68, of Klondike Road, Frostburg died Monday, August 9, 2010 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland.  Born May 28, 1942 in Lonaconing she was the daughter of the late Theodore Plummer and Edith (Jones) Plummer.  She was preceded in death by her husband William W. "Bill" McNeil on August 8, 2005, two sisters, Pat Dressel and Betty Jane Dressel and one brother, James "Pete" Jones and special friend, Kathleen Jenkins.   She was member of Gods Ark of Safety, Frostburg. She worked in the housekeeping department of Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland for numerous years where she made many friends. She was one of the original organizers of the Klondike Rebels baseball team and she was active in the Boy Scouts during her children's youth.   She is survived by her children, Francis H. Walker, Jr. and wife Ruth-Ann of Frostburg, James Walker and friend Debbie of Cumberland, Leslie Walker of LaVale, Tammy Broadwater and husband Larry of Lonaconing, Robert Walker and wife Diana of Midlothian and Candy McNeil-Ross and husband Allen of Woodland; grandchildren, Amanda Kruise and husband Bob, Francis H. Walker III, James T. Walker, Jr., Corey M. Walker, Tiffanie M. Frostburg - Leo (Toad) McNeil, 67, of Klondyke[sic], died last night in Memorial Hospital where he was admitted Sunday. He had been in ill health three years. A native of Elk Garden, he was a son of the late William and Elizabeth (O'Neil) McNeil. Mr. McNeil was a member of Frostburg Lodge 470, BPO Elks, and was active in county sporting events. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Mary M. Woomer, Klondyke[sic], and Mrs. Margaret Arnold, Somerset, Pa. McNEMAR, Lewis J.

Cumberland, Md., June 27 - Lewis J. McNemar, 57 years old, B&O watchman at the Williams street crossing, this city, was instantly killed when the train backed over him. McNemar was a former freight conductor between Keyser and Grafton, W. Va., and lost an arm in an accident ten years ago. He is survived by his wife and several children.

Died Tuesday, September 10, 1912, at his home near Lahmansville, Grant Co., Mr. Samuel B. McNemar, aged 70 years. He is survived by his wife and five children, Edward McNemar of Illinois, Harry Vernon, Vincent and Miss Daisy D. McNemar of Grant County, and one brother, Thos M. McNemar of Keyser. Mr. McNemar was a son of the late Joseph McNemar of Hardy Co., Va. Most of his life, until he became incapacitated by age and ill health, was devoted to teaching, and in his life's work he succeeded in a most satisfactory measure. From boyhood days he took an active interest in the affairs of his county, and following the Civil War, identified himself with the Democratic party.

Lonaconing, Md., July 27—Mrs. Elizabeth B. McPartland, 59, wife of Bernard McPartland, Island street, died suddenly yesterday at 12:15 p. m., of a heart attack. A daughter of the late Edward and Anne Brennan, she was born in Lonaconing and spent all her life here. She was a member of St Mary's Catholic Church. Surviving are her husband and the following children: Edward, James, Mary and Anna. She was a sister of Miss Mary Brennan and Edward Brennan, both of Baltimore. Miss Brennan was visiting here when her sister died.

The body of John McPartland, 70 years of age, retired coal miner, was found dead in bed at his home 15 Valley Street this morning by a member of the family.  Mr. McPartland had retired at 11 o'clock last night in apparently normal health and it is not definitely known when death occcurred.  Mr. McPartland is survived by three daughters and and four sons: Misses Helen and Catherine McPartland, at home; Mrs. Thomas C. McPARTLAND, Mrs. Mary Ellen Ziler

"Mrs. Mary Ellen McPartland, 34, of 849 Reverdy Road, Baltimore, died this morning at Union Memorial Hospital there where she had been a patient for two weeks.  A former resident of Cumberland, Mrs. McPartland moved to Baltimore about 10 years ago.  She was born here on May 31, 1925, a daughter of Guy and Margaret T. (Carney) Ziler, both of whom survive.  She is also survived by her husband, Mr. John P. McPartland.  Mrs. McPartland was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Baltimore.  She was a 1943 graduate of St. Mary's High School, here.  Other survivors, besides her parents and husband, include two sons, John P. McPartland, Jr., and Patrick E. McPartland, both at home, and a twin sister, Mrs. Charles Minke, Baltimore Pike.  The body will be at the Scarpelli Funeral Home tomorrow afternoon.

Special to the Times.
Lonaconing, Sept. 13 – “This place was thrown into sorrow and excitement this morning when the mangled body of M. J. McPartland was taken from Jackson mine of the American Coal Co. to his home.  The fatal accident occurred at 10 o'clock while the deceased and his comrades were at work in a room of the mine, about four tons of roof coal suddenly "let go" and crushed Mr. McPartland to death.  His comrades escaped. The deceased was 35 years of age and very popular all along the creek.  He was a prominent young Democrat and had been nominated on September 4th for House of Delegates on the Democratic ticket.   He was married to a daughter of Hugh Thompson, of Barton, who with one child survive him.  As a trustee of the Lonaconing Central school he had made many friends and his tragic death has caused general sorrow.”

McPartland, 89, of the Egle Nursing Home, Lonaconing, Md., and formerly of Legislative Road, Barton, who died April 29 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md. Father Paul Byrnes officiated and burial was in Saint Gabriel's Cemetery. The Boal Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Born May 16, 1906 in Barton, she was the daughter of the late Harmon Arnold and Dahlia (Monahan) Arnold. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Richard McPartland in 1976. She was a graduate of Barton High School and attended Frostburg Normal School, Harrisonburg College, University of Maryland and Towson State College. She was a member of Saint Gabriel's Catholic Church; Court Saint Gabriel's 2198, Catholic Daughters and the Barton and Lonaconing Senior Citizens. David A. "Buster" McRobie Sr., 83, Reseda, Calif., formerly of Oakland, passed away on Monday, April 20, from cancer. He was a son of the late Earnest J. and Lillie Mae McRobie. He was also preceded in death by his wife Dolly. He worked as a mechanical engineer and traveled the world extensively. Dave was well loved and lived a full life. He will be missed by all. He is survived by his daughter, Diana Oxford; one granddaughter, Heather McRobie; two sisters, Louise Beckman and Josephine Murphy; and his great-granddaughter, Maddisen Walusko. A service was conducted on Monday, April 27, at Pierce Brothers Valhall Memorial Park, where he was laid to rest beside his beloved wife Dolly.

Mr. Dory McRobie, who lived on Piedmont street and worked in the B&O shops, died at his home last Mon of pneumonia, and was buried in Oakland Wed. He was 46 years of age, and left a wife and seven children.

MARTINSBURG WV - Miss Martha G. McSherry, daughter of Lieut. Dennis Lilly McSherry, and a member of a family that has been prominently identified with the history and development of this section of W. Va. for two centuries, died at her home here this morning, aged 82 years. She is survived by one brother, Dr. James Whann McSherry, president of the Citizens' national Bank of Martinsburg. Miss McSherry, who was known through this section as "Miss Patt" was the founder of the local King's Daughters' Hospital. For many years she devoted her energies to its upbuilding and the alleviation of suffering among the poor of the city. She was also prominently connected with the local chapter of the Daughters of the Confederacy, of which her sister-in-law, Mrs. James McWhann McSherry has been president general. Miss McSherry's father was in command of the bodyguard of Gen. James Madison, later President of the U S, during the war with England in 1812-14, and was afterward honored by the President of his services during that war. She was also a cousin of the late Judge McSherry, of Frederick, Md. She was a member of the Episcopal Church and the funeral will be held from that church here on Tuesday afternoon.

Bernard Alvin McTaggart, 42, of Houston, Texas, formerly of RD 2, Ridgeley, died yesterday in Houston Northwest Medical Center. Born Nov. 5, 1939 in Short Gap, W.Va., he was the son of Charles A. McTaggart and Mary A. (Moreland) McTaggart, RD 2, Ridgeley. Mr. McTaggart was a boilermaker and welder and member of the boilermaker blacksmith union. He was an Air Force veteran and 1956 graduate of Fort Ashby High School. Surviving in addition to his parents, are two sons, Kirk McTaggart and Danny McTaggart, both of Nashville, Tenn.; two brothers, Glenn McTaggart, RD 2, Ridgeley; Donald McTaggart, Houston; two sisters, Mrs. Shirley Rexrode, and Mrs. Lauretta Funkhouser, both of RD 2, Ridgeley. Friends will be received tomorrow at the Scarpelli Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at the funeral home Thursday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Oscar Ohler will officiate. Interment will be in the Fort Ashby Cemetery.

FORT ASHBY, W.Va. — Charles A. McTaggart, 91, of Fort Ashby, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, at his residence. Born on July 2, 1909, in Lapeer County, Michigan, he was the son of the late Zora E. and Charlotte (Stickley) McTaggart. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary A. (Moreland) McTaggart on July 18, 2000; one son, Bernard A. McTaggart; one daughter, Shirley A. Rexrode; and three brothers. Mr. McTaggart had retired from the B & O Railroad, where he had been a blacksmith. He was an original member and helped build the Graceland Baptist Church, Short Gap. He also served as Deacon, was a member of the church choir, taught Sunday school and worked on the Grounds and Building Committee. Mr. McTaggart was a member of Davis Lodge #51 A.F. & A.M., Keyser. Mr. McTaggart was a loving father and grandfather. Survivors include his daughter, Lauretta Michaels and husband Jake, Cresaptown, Md.; sons, Glenn McTaggart and wife Scottie, and Donald McTaggart and wife Cheryl, all of Fort Ashby; one sister, Viola Schilling, Alpena, Mich.; 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Fort Ashby, on Thursday. The funeral service will be held at the Graceland Baptist Church, Short Gap, on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Oscar Ohler officiating. Interment will be in Fort Ashby Cemetery. Masonic graveside services will be conducted at the cemetery by the Davis Lodge #51 A.F. & A.M. Mr. McTaggart’s grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.

FORT ASHBY, W.Va. — Mary A. McTaggart, 83, of Fort Ashby, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 18, 2000, after her battle with cancer. Born on Jan. 12, 1917, in Neil’s Run, she was the daughter of the late William Kirk and Bessie Leah (Catlett) Moreland. She was also preceded in death by one son, Bernard A. McTaggart; one daughter, Shirley A. Rexrode; three brothers, William Moreland, Johnny Moreland and Albert Moreland; and one sister, Wanda Riggs. Mrs. McTaggart was retired from Memorial Hospital, where she had been a nursing assistant. She was also an Avon sales representative. Mrs. McTaggart was a member of the Graceland Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher, Bible school teacher, member of the church choir, and assisted with other church duties. She enjoyed being a homemaker and tending to her roses in recent years. Mrs. McTaggart was a loving wife and mother. Survivors include her husband, Charles Alvin McTaggart; one daughter, Lauretta Michaels and husband Jake, Cresaptown, Md.; two sons, Donald McTaggart and wife Cheryl, and Glenn McTaggart and wife Scottie, all of Fort Ashby; two sisters, Nora Nixon and husband Jerry, Cumberland, and Doris Gross and husband Bobby, Short Gap; 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Frostburg - Hugh D. McVeigh, 65, of Wright's Crossing, was pronounced dead on arrival yesterday at Frostburg Community Hospital. Born in Midland, he was the son of the late Henry I. and Mary (Clark) McVeigh. He was a contract plumber and was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and Local 489, Plumbers and Steamfitters Union. Surviving are his widow, Lottie (Loar) McVeigh; one daughter, Mrs. Lois Martz, Wrights Crossing; two sons, H. Daniel McVeigh, Fort Worth, Texas; and Olen I. McVeigh, at home; one sister, Mrs. Rose Tippen, Midland, and one brother, Michael T. McVeigh, Midland. The body is at the Durst Funeral Home. A Christian Wake will be held at the funeral home tomorrow at 7:30 p. m. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Thursday at 9:30 a. m. in St. Michael's Church and interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Midland - April 26 John F McVeigh, 64, died yesterday afternoon at his home. He had been ill for some time. Surviving are three sisters: Mrs Mary O'Rourke, Westernport; Mrs Sarah Cummings, Pittsburgh and Miss Julia McVeigh, Midland and one brother, the Rev William J McVeigh, Washington. Funeral services will be held at St Joseph's Catholic Church Friday at 9:30 a.m. with the Rev Father McVeigh as celebrant of the Requiem Mass and the Rev J Lawrence Kilkenny, pastor of St Joseph's preaching the sermon. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The Holy Name Society of the church will meet at Mr McVeigh's home tomorrow at 8 p.m. to recite the rosary.

Midland, Md., May 2.— Mr. John McVeigh, who died last Tuesday evening at Miners' Hospital, Frostburg, was buried Friday morning from St Joseph's Catholic Church with Requiem High Mass celebrated by his brother, Rev William J McVeigh, Washington. The girls choir sang the mass. Rev J Lawrence Kilkenny, pastor, gave the sermon. Other priests in the sanctuary were Monsignor James Quinn, pastor of St Patrick's church, Cumberland; Rev Robert Kilgannon, Ridgeley and Rev Dominic Bonomo, Frostburg. The pallbearers nephews were: William O'Rourke, North Carolina, Edward Dunn, Detroit, Patrick, Hugh and Harry O'Rourke, Westernport and Hugh McVeigh, Frostburg. MIDLAND—Miss Julia McVeigh, 79, died yesterday at the home of a niece, Mrs. Robert Ward. She was a daughter of the late Hugh and Catherine (Cavanaugh) McVeigh and held membership in St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Sodality of the parish. A brother Rev. William J. McVeigh, died in the fire which destroyed the rectory of St. Joseph's Church a number of years ago. Surviving, besides the niece with whom she resided, is a sister, Mrs Margaret O'Rourke, Westernport. The body is at the Eichhorn Funeral Home, Lonaconing, where the rosary will be recited Sunday at 8 p. m. A requiem mass will be celebrated Monday at 9:30 a. m. at St. Joseph's Church and interment will be in Belvedere Cemetery.

McVICKER, Mrs. Margaret L. Muir

Barton - Margaret L. McVicker, 90, formerly of Barton, and most recently of Egle Nursing Home, Lonaconing, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007, at the nursing home. Born June 27, 1917, in Pekin, she was the daughter of the late William Craig and Sarabell (Kiddy) Muir. Her husband, Herbert W. McVicker; a son-in-law, Robert Lutman; three sisters, Betty Lease, Phyllis Porter, and Dorothy Morgan; two brothers, William Michael Muir and James Leo Muir, and her beloved cousin, Mary Andrews, also preceded her in death. Margaret shared the love of her Lord, Jesus Christ, with her extended family and friends. She was a very caring, generous person and always willing to lend a helping hand to others. She was a homemaker, and worked at Westvaco Corp. for 22 years. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Surviving are onedaughter, Shirley LUtman, of San Marcos, Calif.; one son, Robert McVicker and wife Patty, of Keyser, W. Va.; one brother, David Muir and wife Norma; one sister-in-law, Bea Muir; one brother-in-law, Raymond Porter; three grandchildren, Brandi McKenzie and husband Matt, Julie McVicker and James McVicker, as well as numeroud nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Saturday, Nov. 17, from noon to 2 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted immediately following the visitation in the funeral home at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Moscow Mills. The family requests memorial contributions to be made in Margaret's name to Egle Nursing Homes Activities Department. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to the owners and staff at Egle's; to Maragaret's[sic] nieces, Linda Willis, Judy Thomas, Wanda Rhodes and their families; and to veery special friends, Ralph, Betty, Linda, Gary, and Bill Simpson and Debbie Simpson Parks for the love and care given to our mother.

Judge Joseph M. McWhorter, for many years prominent in political life in Virginia and W. Va., died at his home yesterday in Lewisburg, Greenbrier county, at the age of 85 years.

After suffering from tuberculosis three months, Charles McWilliams, 42 years old, am employee of the Western Md railway, died at the home of his father, Robert McWilliams, at Grafton.

The body of a 49-year-old Meyersdale man was found lying in Patterson Creek, about nine miles east of Keyser, yesterday morning. He was W. Robert E. McWilliams, an employe of the Stony River Dam, who was frog hunting in the stream with Everett Wood, 25 Allegany Street, Keyser, when he was stricken. Mr. McWilliams disappeared in about six feet of water. It was known that Mr. McWilliams could swim and Mineral County Prosecuting Attorney Byron Athey ordered an autopsy which disclosed that death resulted from a heart attack. According to Mr. Wood, the two men had left their car at the bridge on Route 46 about 12:30 a.m. and proceeded up creek for a distance. The two men started back toward the bridge, Mr. Wood on the east side and Mr. McWilliams on the west side of the creek. Both carried lights, according to Mr. Wood, who said he looked around for Mr. McWilliams and saw his light fall. He entered the creek and tried to locate his companion, Mr. Wood said. Water at that point is approximately six feet deep. When he could not find Mr. McWilliams, Mr. Wood ran to the highway for help and this resulted in Sheriff Carroll Stanley and Stale Trooper J. T. Plybon being notified. Cpl. J. R. Polls and Trooper R. L. Johnson of the West Virginia State Police, also responded. On arrival at the scene, Trooper Plybon entered the creek and searched for the body. He located the victim at 1:55 a. m. just a short distance from the place where Mr. Wood had last seen his light. Mr. McWilliams was born in Duquesne, Pa., a son of Mrs. Mary Hostetler McWilliams and the late I. M. McWilliams. He was a member of Amity United Church of Christ, Meyersdale Lodge 554, A. F. and A. M., and the Consistory. Surviving, besides his mother, are his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Murray McWilliams; two children, Mrs. James Weyant, Wellsboro, Pa., and Miss Carol Ann McWilliams, at home, and three sisters, Mrs. Helen Hinkle, Warsaw, Ind.; Mrs. Dorothea Fullerton, Duquesne, and Mrs. Marion McKenzie, Silver Lake, Ind. The body is at the Price Funeral Home in Meyersdale, where friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 today and where a funeral service will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m.
