Abraham M. Miller, aged 79 years, died at 10:30 Monday morning at his home in Friedens. He is survived by his wife, Sevilla Schrock Miller, a son, Harvey Miller, of Somerset and a brother, Jonathan Miller of Somerset, R.D. No. 1 and a sister, Mrs. Tillie Pyle of Somerset. Mr. Miller was a son of the late Christian Miller. Funeral services will be conducted in the Brethren church at Brotherton at 2, Wednesday afternoon, in charge of Rev. H. Q. Rhoades. Burial will be in the Brotherton cemetery.

Ada M. Miller, 97, of Wiley Ford, W.Va., died yesterday in Grant Memorial Hospital, Petersburg, W.Va. Born in Fort Ashby, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Adam and Sarah E. (Henderson) Kaylor. She was a member of the Wiley Ford Church of the Nazarene. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Consuella Howdyshell, Wiley Ford; two sons, Ambrose B. Miller, Baltimore, and Allen M. Miller, Marietta, Ga.; 34 grandchildren and one great- grandchild. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home today and tomorrow. A service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. The Rev. A. L. Lepley will officiate and interment will be in Fort Ashby Cemetery.

MILLER, Mrs. Agnes Lytle
Mrs. Agnes Miller, Confluence, passed away at the age of 81 years, seven months and two days. She was the daughter of Charles and Rebecca Lytle. She was married to A. J. Miller, who with one son, Lewis, preceded her in death. Surviving are two sons, L. F. Miller, Uniontown, and Henry Miller of Turtlecreek, and one daughter, Mrs. Albert Bowlin, Confluence, with whom she was living at the time of her death. There are also surviving six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one brother, N. G. Lytle of Sourth Connellsville. Services were held in the Johnson Chapel Church on Sunday at 2 p.m., by the Rev. Dr. Alden Allen, paster[sic] of the Confluence Methodist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery under the direction of C. D. Humbert, mortician.

Mrs. Agnes (Shafferman) Miller, wife of Harry J. Miller, a former resident of this city, died suddenly Saturday at her home in Los Angeles, Cal., as a result of a heart attack. Besides her husband, she is survived by one daughter and four sons by a former marriage: Miss Mary Virginia Shafferman, Los Angeles; J. Louis Shafferman, Lawrence H. Shafferman and Frederick W. Shafferman, all of this city, and Arthur F. Shafferman, serving with the Army in the South Pacific. Two grandsons also survive.

His wife, Mrs. Anna Clark Miller, died in 1971. He was a retired employee of the Luke Mill of Westvaco Inc. He was a member of Welsh Memorial Baptist Church. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Linda D. Williams, with whom he resided; Mrs. Alice K. McKenzie and Mrs. Mary J. Miller, both of here, and Mrs. Pauline A. Miller, Hagerstown; one son,William T. Hanna, Westernport; two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Martin and Mrs. Daisy Martin, both of Westemport; two brothers, Lewis T. Miller, of here, and Lee Miller, Westernport; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home today and tomorrow. Services will be conducted Monday at 11 a m. by Rev. George L. Welder. Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park. FROSTBURG - Albert E. “Ab" Miller Sr., 76, of 126 Hill Street, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1993 at Sacred Heart Hospital. Born Aug. 19, 1917, in Eckhart, he was the son of the late Wesley Miller and Sally (Hansel) Miller. Mr. Miller was a former employee of the Celanese Corporation and retired as a letter carrier at the Frostburg Post Office. He was a member of the First Congregational Church, the National Association of Federal Retired Employees and the Frostburg Lodge #470 B.P.O. Elks. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Virginia (Kreitzburg) Miller; three sons, Albert E. Miller Jr., and wife Cathy, Frostburg; Jim Miller, and wife Linda, Front Royal, Va.; and Marty M. Miller, and wife Kathy, Lonaconing: three sisters, Elizabeth Patterson, Shaft; and Ruth Fisher and Blanche Davis, both of Frostburg; seven grandchildren, Duane Miller, Devin Miller, Carla Bridges, Brian Miller, Amy Miller, Gina George and Jason George; three great-grandchildren, Colby Bridges, Bailey Miller and Jessica Miller; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home. Services will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home by the Rev. Joe Penick. Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park. Frostburg – Mrs. Alberta S. Miller, 87, of 148 Bowery Street, was dead on arrival yesterday at Frostburg Community Hospital. She had been in ill health for some time. Born in Knapps Meadow, she was a daughter of the late George and Ella (Winters) Stevenson, and was the widow of Harvey Miller. She was a member of the Church of the Brethren and its Ladies Aid. Surviving are two sons, Edgar Miller, here, and Elmer Miller, Woodland; three daughters, Mrs. Albert Wellings, Miss Pearl Miller, and Mrs. Virginia Logue, here; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. The body is at the Hafer-Sowers Funeral Home where friends will be received from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m.

SPRINGS,Pa. — Alice Marie (Shoemaker) Miller, 90, of Springs, Pa., died Saturday, March 7, 2009, at Meyersdale Medical Center, Meyersdale, Pa. Born Nov. 20, 1918, in Elk Lick Township, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Ellis D. and Nettie (Maust) Shoemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell Miller; and three sisters, Frances Werner, Alta Yoder and Marian Shoemaker. Mrs. Miller was a member of Springs Mennonite Church and was a retired postal clerk at the U. S. Post Office in Springs. She is survived by two sons, C. Kent Miller and wife Nancy, and Kevin L. Miller and wife Sally, all of Grantsville; two grandchildren, Nicholas Jaymes and Dallas Rose Miller; and one sister-in-law, Lorraine Miller, of Springs. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Monday from 5 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. MILLER, Allen William
Allen William Miller, 91, of 212 Philos Ave, Westernport, went home to be with his Lord and family on Friday, September 11, 2009 at the Moran Manor Nursing Home, where he had been a resident. Born August 28, 1918 in Westernport, he was the son of the late Stephen Samuel and Cletus (Ross) Miller. His wife, Evelyn M. (Sutherland) Miller, two brothers, Percy and Jesse Miller and one sister, Freda Lambert, also preceded him in death. Mr. Miller was retired from Westvaco Corp, with 44 years of service having worked in the core room. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Westernport. He was an avid squirrel and deer hunter and gardener. He also enjoyed fishing, music and singing. He leaves behind a son, Richard Miller and wife Pat of LaVale, a sister-in-law, Madeline Miller of Keyser, WV, two grandchildren, Stephen Miller of Gettysburg, PA, and Carrie Wintersteen and husband Matt of King of Prussia, PA, a daughter-in-law, Marci Miller of Gettysburg, PA, and five great grandchildren, Katelyn Miller, Stephanie Miller, Evan Wintersteen, Luke Wintersteen and Ben Wintersteen, and numerous nieces and one nephew. The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Tuesday at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Earl Williams and Rev. Gary Morris officiating. Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport. Pallbearers will be Richard White, Ed Sawyers, Russell Moon, John Murphy, Paul Poland, and Joe DeGiovanni.

FROSTBURG- Mrs. Alma Miller, 69, of 135 Ormond Street, was dead on arrival Wednesday at Sacred Heart Hospital. She had been in ill health for several years. A native of Frostburg, Mrs. Miller was the daughter of the late Andrew and Jeanette (Hill) Brode. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church. Surviving are her husband, James 0. Miller; one daughter, Mrs. Eileen McCormick Forster, Normal, Ill.; one stepson, James Lee Miller, Fort Ashby; two sisters, Mrs. Annie Hansel, city; Mrs. Elizabeth Stokes, Kinsman, Ohio; three granddaughters and five great-grandchildren. Shaft - Alma Elaine Miller, 90, of Shaft, died Saturday, Feb 11, 2006, at her residence. Born April 14, 1915, in Midlothian, she was the daughter of the late Clifton Walter "Bumper" Skidmore and Priscilla (Brode) Skidmore. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Clarence E. Miller, in 1993; one son, Clarence Dale Miller, in 1966; two brothers, Irvin Kenneth Skidmore and Royal Clifton Skidmore; and one sister, Belva Leota Middleton. Mrs. Miller was retired as the owner/operator of Kiddie Towne, in Frostburg. She was a lifelong member of the Shaft United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Shaft United Methodist Church, a charter member of both the Shaft Homemakers and the Shaft Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies auxiliary, and a member of the Mount Chapter 15, Order of the Eastern Star, Frostburg Senior Citizens, and the Senior Citizens Quilting Group. She was also a Gold Star Mother. Surviving are two sons, Royal C. Miller and wife Carol, New Market, W. VA. and Ellsworth Wayne Miller and wife Nine, Oakland; one daughter-in-law, Norma J. MIller, Frostburg; one grandson, Geoffrey Dale Miller, Wardensville, W. VA.; five granddaughters, Dawn Kulas and husband William, Seattle, Wash.; Amy DiMisa and husband James, La Plata; Beth Eichhorn and husband Timothy, Maryville, Tenn.; Danette Miller, Winchester, VA.; and Danielle Lavin and husband Terry, Frostburg; four great-grandsons, Christopher DiMisa; Sam DiMisa; Blake Eichhorn; and Thomas Wayne Scarpelli; three great-granddaughters, Teylor Lavin; and twins, Catherine Eichhorn and Caroline Eichhorn; and one sister, Olive Evelyn Tennant, Lakeland, Fla. In accordance with Mrs. Miller's wishes, there will be no visitation, and her body will be cremated. Lonaconing, MD., June 22 - Alonza[sic] J. Miller, 76, died yesterday at 7 PM, at his home on Water station Run, after a weeks illness. A son of thelate Jacob Miller, he was born on Dan's Mountain, and resided here his entire life. During his younger years he worked as a miner, but for the greater part of his life he served as sexton of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Holy Name Society. His wife, the former Miss Mary Walsh, died two years ago this month. Surviving children are Alonzo, Jr.,[sic] Pekin; Mrs. Edward Mullen, Baltimore: Mrs. James Cunningham, Midland; John and Joseph Miller, Pittsburgh; Bernard J. Miller, Mrs. Gilbert Wilson, Miss Nellie Miller and Miss Mary Miller, all of this city. He also leaves the following brothers and sisters: Grover Miller, McKeesports, PA; Joseph Miller, Baltimore; John and Henry Miller, Lonaconing, and Mrs. T. F. Boyd, East McKeesport, PA.

HYNDMAN - Mrs. Amanda M. Miller, 89, of here, died yesterday at Bedford County Memorial Hospital. Born in Meyersdale, she was a daughter of the late William and Susan (Swarner) Mullen. Her husband, Robert B. Miller, preceded her in death. She is survived by three sons, William J. Miller, Robert B. Miller and Clyde A. Miller, all of here; three daughters, Mrs. Emma F. Robosson, Mrs. Elsie M. Wolford, and Mrs. Margaret T. Gaster, all of here, a brother, Michael Mullen, Somerset; a sister, Mrs. Minnie Pritts, Rockwood, Pa., eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. ELLERSLIE - Mrs. Amy Alice Miller, 68, died suddenly Sunday at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland. Born in Fossilville, Pa., May 4, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Oscar H. Leydig and Bertie (Stouffer) Leydig. Mrs. Miller was a member of the Ellerslie United Methodist Church, where she was organist for over 40 years, teacher of the Ladies Bible Class, and a member of the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Hyndman, Pa., Senior Citizens. She is survived by her husband, Arthur Miller; two sons, David A. Miller and William L. Miller; one brother, George Lybarger; three sisters, Mrs. Grace Miller, Mrs. Alzine Johnson, and Mrs. Mary Ellen Shroyer, all of Ellerslie; and three grandchildren. Friends may call at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, Tuesday and Wednesday. Services will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Ellerslie United Methodist Church by the Rev. Dennis Dorsch and the Rev. Ken L. Korns. OAKLAND - Andrew Thomas Miller, 68, died Saturday at his residence near Fairville. A son of the late Charles and Mary Anne (Johnson) Miller, he was born in Allegany County July 24, 1890. A carpenter by trade, he had resided in Garrett County most of his life. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Pauline Lohr, Beltsville, and Mrs. Hazel Glass, Deer Park; one son, Paul Miller, Deerpar; one stepson, Walter Lee, Deer Park; two sisters, Mrs. Harry Speicher, Deer Park, and Mrs. Herbert Groves, Mt. Lake Park; four brothers, Charles E. Miller, Mt. Lake Park; Jacob Miller, Cresaptown; Zeddock Miller, Deer Park; Harry Miller, Oakland, and three grandchildren. Services will be conducted in the Paradise EUB Church today at 1 p.m. with Rev. Henry Osgood officiating, assisted by Rev. Byron Blair. Interment will be in the Fairville Cemetery. Mrs. Angela (Monahan) Miller, 68, formerly of Mt. Savage and Cumberland, died yesterday in North Hollywood, Calif., where she had resided 11 years. Born in Mt. Savage, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Mattingly. Surviving are two sons, Vincent J. Monahan, Punxsutawney, Pa. and Gregory Monahan, North Hollywood; three sisters, Mrs. Robert Madden, Boston, and Mrs. Dorothy Blake and Mrs. Clara Cookerly, both of Cumberland, and three grandchildren. She was a former employee of the E.V. Coyle Furniture Company. FROSTBURG — Mrs. Anna James Miller, 75, wife of Charles W. Miller, 95 Broadway, died yesterday afternoon in Miners Hospital where she had been a patient six weeks. Her parents were the late George and and Mary (Zais) Hartig. Survivors include three sons by a former marriage, Thomas James, at home; Earl James, Cumberland, and Dillmond James, Frostburg; two sisters, Miss Mary Hartig and Mrs. Thomas Harris, Frostburg; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The body will be taken to the residence.

Anna B. Miller, 69, Buffalo Mills RD 1, died Monday, April 29, 1991, at her residence. She was born Oct. 20, 1921, at Gravel Pit, daughter of the late Harry W. and Margaret H. Yutzy Shroyer. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Donna L. Willison, Bedford; Mrs. Iva J. Williams, at home; and Susan V., wife of James Snowden of Blairsville. Also surviving are five grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and a brother, H. Lee Shroyer of Buffalo Mills RD1, married to Violet Deneen. Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her husband Walter E. Miller who died Dec. 29, 1969; by two brothers, Bernard Shroyer and Robert Shroyer; and a grandson, Donald Willison. Mrs. Miller was employed for 13 years at Fairfoot Shoe Factory at Bedford. She was a member of the Gravel Pit United Methodist Church. Services: Thursday, May 2, at 2 p.m. at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home with the Rev. Joseph R. Stains officiating. Burial at Madley Cemetery. Visitation: Wednesday, 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Frostburg - Mrs. Anna F. Miller, 84, died yesterday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Russell Lancaster, 123 Wood Street. Mrs. Miller was a daughter of the late Henry N. and Anna Louise (Eichorn) Schneider. She was a member of Zion Evangelical Reformed Church, the Ladies Guild of the church and the Auxiliary of Farrady Post 24, American Legion. Surviving besides Mrs. Lancaster are two sons, Earl R. and Henry E. Miller; a sister, Mrs. Minnie Taylor, all of Frostburg, and two brother, Melvin L. Schneider, Washington; and Alvin Schneider, Frostburg. Eight granchildren and two great granchildren also survive. The body is at the residence. Services will be conducted Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Zion Church. Rev. Paul V. Taylor, pastor, will officiate and interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.

Meyersdale, Aug. 25 - Miss Anna Matilda Miller, 20 years old, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilson A. Miller, residing near Sand Patch, died Saturday at Wensel(?) Hospital from injuries sustained on April 27 when the automobile in which she was riding with Miss Mary Gearhart, Frederick Cook, and Lester Bittner, all of Meyersdale, crashed head-on into a car operated by James Short, also of Meyersdale. The accident occurred at the foot of the mountain, a short distance from Meyersdale. Anna Matilda Miller was born August 18, 1910, a daughter of Wilson A. and Ida Hostetler Miller. She was graduated from the Meyersdale High School in the class of 1927 and, at the time of the accident, was employed in the local office of the Western Pennsylvania Telephone Company. She became a member of the Church of the Brethren June 24, 1923. Surviving are her parents and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. James Shockey, Mrs. Melvin Linderman, Mrs. W. R. Snyder, Mrs. Quinter Gnagey and Karl Miller, all of Meyersdale; Mrs. Robert Shockey of Greenville, Pa.; Mrs. Hiram Walker of near Garrett; and Mary and Leah Miller, both at home. Three sisters, Mrs. William Miller of Summit Mills and Susan Miller, a brother Milton, and an infant brother preceded her in death. The coroner's jury recommended that the grand jury make an investigation of the accident, having found evidence of reckless driving.

Born on Sept. 10, 1927 in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late James C. and Gertrude (Griffith) Engle. She was also preceded in death by two husbands, Kenneth E. Pollock and Jackson E. Miller, Sr. Mrs. Miller was a graduate of Beall High School and Catherman's Business School. She was a former employee of Allegany Ballistics Laboratory, the Xerox Corporation of Akron, Ohio and Tampa, Fla., the Elliott-Mackey Agency and the Greenthumb Corporation assigned to Frostburg City Hall. Mrs. Miller was a member of the Farrady Unit 24 American Legion Auxiliary and the Ladies Elks of Frostburg Lodge 470 B.P.O.E. Surviving are one sister, Patricia Berman, Baltimore; Peggy Hager, Cape Canaveral, Fla.; one half sister, Melda Grose, Frostburg; one half brother, James Engle, Frostburg; four step children, Colleen Wright, Fulton; Kenneth Pollock, Damascus; Jackson Miller Jr. and Dan Miller, both of Ohio; two nieces, Karin Buchanan, Baltimore; Leslie Jackson, Eckhart; two nephews, David Brode, Clarysville; Jeffrey Brode, Cresaptown; one great-niece and three great-nephews. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. George Aist officiating. Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Mark Jackson, James Porter, Francis Cosgrove, William Russell, Dale Twigg and Ray Kiddy. Honorary pallbearers will be David Brode, Jeffrey Brode and Murray Buchanan.

Mrs. Annie M. Miller, 90, of 613 Columbia Avenue, died yesterday at her residence. Born January 6, 1883 in Nikep, she was a daughter of the late James and Anna (Monahan) Condon. Her husband, John A. Miller, preceded her in death. Mrs. Miller was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Sodality. Surviving are two sons, James 0. Miller, Frostburg, and Paul L. Miller, city; four daughters, Mrs. Leotta Davis, Baltimore; Mrs. Anna Grimm, this city; Mrs. Walter Grahame, Hallandale, Fla., and Mrs. Ruth Lee Lease, with whom she resided; 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. The body is at the Scarpelli Funeral Home where friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of the resurrection will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church. Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Frostburg. A Christian wake service will be held at the funeral home tomorrow at 8:30 p.m.

Rockwood lost one of its most prominent citizens and successful businessmen in the death on Thursday, June 7, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, of Arthur A. Miller, 45, a member of the firm of E. E. Miller & Sons. He was admitted to the hospital after he was stricken on the day preceding his death. Born in Rockwood on Jan. 2, 1900, Arthur A. Miller was a son of Edward E. and Ada (Critchfield) Miller. He was a graduate of Rockwood High School and the Eastman Business School, Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Mr. Miller and Olive Bird, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Bird of Listonburg, were married on June 23, 1921. He was associated in business with his father, Edward E. Miller. He was treasurer of the Rockwood Volunteer Fire Company and formerly served on the Church Council of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, in which he was active. His health had been impaired since 1941. Surviving are his parents and wife and two children - Dorothy Jean, a student nurse at Memorial Hospital in Cumberland, and Robert Edward Miller, at home; one sister, Miss Mary Miller, a teacher in Rockwood High School, a brother, Paul J. Miller, and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Lydia Miller, aged 95, widow of Tobias Miller, formerly of Meyersdale. Funeral services were conducted at the Miller home at 2:30 p.m., Sunday by Rev. H. G. Hohman of Tyrone, former pastor of St. Luke's Lutheran CHurch. Burial was directed by Mills & Mickey, Rockwood morticians.

MEYERSDALE- Arthur Stanley Miller, 64, of RD 3, died suddenly yesterday at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland. Born in Meyersdale RD 1, he was a son of the late Harvey and Minerva (Bittner) Miller. Surviving are his widow, Ida Mae (Arnold) Miller; four sons, Harvey J. Miller, Ligonier; Blain M. and John A., RD 3; Glenn S. Miller, at home; four daughters, Mrs. Philip Kereschensteiner, RD 3; Mrs. Charles Faidley, Berllin; Miss Thelma Miller, at home; Mrs. Earl Burow, Springs; three brothers, Vernon Miller, Frostburg; Forest W. Miller, RD 3; and Harvey Miller, Jr., New Castle, Del., and 20 grandchildren. The body is at the Price Funeral Home. A service will be conducted at the Hostetler Church of the Brethren, RD 3, Friday at 2 p.m. Rev. Raymond Mankamyer will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Survived by wife the former Charlotte Ann Hoppert to whom he was married 60 years, children: Joy Ann Stull and husband Gerald of Strasburg, Va., Karen Lowry and husband Rick of Berlin, Marlene Miller of Berlin, Robert C. Miller married to the former, Sheri Firestone of Venice Fla., grandchildren: Justus Stull and wife Kathy, Jessica Weaver and husband Aaron, Benjamin Lowry and wife Lisa, Kari Haer and husband Joshua, Nathaniel Miller and wife Rebecca, Brandi, Dustin and Eric Miller. He is a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and worked until his retirement with 34½ years of service as the produce manager for the former A&P in Somerset. FORT ASHBY, W.Va. - Betty Jane (Adams) Miller, 76, of Fort Ashby, died Thursday, March 14, 2002, at Sacred Heart Hospital. Born May 13, 1925, in Fort Ashby, she was the daughter of the late Raymond C. and Pauline Virginia (Kauffman) Adams. Betty was a very special seamstress. Along with her husband, Blair, they were the owners and operators of Fort Ashby Fabrics for 31 years. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, having been a former organist, choir member, and Sunday School teacher. Betty contributed many linens and window coverings to the church social hall. She was responsible for making many uniforms and flags for the Frankfort High School band and various organizations. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Blair Miller; one son, Stephen Blair Miller, Fort Ashby; two grandchildren, Brandy Lynn Miller and Matthew Blair Miller, both at home; one brother, Robert G. Adams and wife Hilda, Fort Ashby; and two sisters, Alma Lee Frase and husband Bill, and Janet Rae Phares and husband Bob, all of Fort Ashby. Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Fort Ashby, Saturday. The funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dallas Forren officiating. Bettylu S. Miller, 76, Sarver, formerly of Glencoe, died June 23, 2008, at Life Care Hospital in Wilkinsburg. Born June 2, 1932, in Greenville Township, a daughter of Marling and Alice (Geiger) Shockey. Preceded in death by her parents and husband, Karl B. Miller. Survived by children, Darlene Duffy, married to Robert, Bridgeville; and Michele Kerr, married to Russell, Butler; grandchildren, Shawn and Brendan Duffy, Patrick and Maggie Kerr. Sister of Paul R. Shockey, Oakland, Md., and Carole Shockey-Thomassy, Greensburg. She was a 1950 graduate of Meyersdale High School. She worked as a secretary for the Meyersdale and Dormont school districts. She also worked as the secretary to the superintendent of the Berlin Brothersvalley School District. She was a Home Interiors displayer for 20 years. Member of New Hope United Church of Christ. She enjoyed crocheting, making peanut brittle and spending time with her grandchildren. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where a service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, the Rev. Charles Dunn and the Rev. FORT ASHBY, W.Va. — Blair Miller, 85, of Fort Ashby, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010, at The Dawnview Center, Fort Ashby. Born Oct. 8, 1924, in Spring Gap, Md., he was the son of the late Chester N. Miller and Kathleen (Haddix) Miller. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Betty Jane (Adams) Miller, who died on March 14, 2002; one brother, S. Kenneth Miller; and, one sister, Opal A. Blauch. Mr. Miller was a 1943 graduate of Fort Ashby High School. He served in the U.S. Army, 14th Regiment, during World War II, with two tours of duty in Germany. He held the rank of Staff Sergeant. Mr. Miller was retired from the State of West Virginia. He had also worked alongside his wife, Betty, at Fort Ashby Fabrics for 31 years. He is survived by his son, Stephen B. Miller and wife Sherrie, Fort Ashby; two grandchildren, Brandy Lynn Lynch and husband Travis, Short Gap, and Matt Miller, Cumberland; two great-grandchildren, Riley Lynch and A.J. Floyd; two step-grandchildren, Amanda Shreve and husband Scott and Jayne Floyd; three sisters-in-law, Hilda Adams, Dawnview Center, Alma Frase and husband Bill and Janet Phares and husband Bob, all of Fort Ashby; and many nieces and nephews. Born in Corriganville, she was a daughter of the late Henry W. and Frances (Golden) Ford. Mrs. Miller was a 1929 graduate of Allegany High School, Cumberland, Md. She was a retired secretary at Trinity Episcopal Church, New York City, and was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church, Short Hills. Surviving are her husband, James R. Miller; three brothers, Leo P. Ford, LaVale, Md., and Ray Ford and Glenn Ford, both of Corriganville; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Emerick, Corriganville, and Mrs. Ola M. Mrs. Callie Louella Miller, 71, of Tunnelton, died Sunday in the Preston Memorial Hospital in Kingwood. Born Feb. 14, 1887, she was the daughter of the late David and Victoria Summers Cobun. She was a member of the daughters of America Lodge of Tunnelton and Camp Chapel Methodist Church. Carl Russell Miller, 50, of RFD 1, Oldtown, died Saturday night in Memorial Hospital. He had been in failing health for 10 years. A former B & 0 machinist helper, he made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Joseph E. Harper near Oldtown. He was a native of this city, a son of the late Carl William and Eva Lavin Miller. Surviving are three sons, Frederick C. Miller, Falls Church, Va.; Donald L., Bowmans Addition, and Raymond E. Miller, city; three brothers, Howard E. Miller, Jamaica, N. Y.; Paul S. Miller, city, and Raymond L. Miller, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and two sisters, Mrs. Frank Brown, city, and Mrs. Catherine Higgs, Corriganville. The body is at the Hafer Funeral Home here, where friends will be received from 7 to 9 and 2 to 4 p. m. A funeral service will be held there Wednesday at 1 p. m. Rev. Bryce W. Shoemaker, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church, will officiate and burial will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.

Friday- CARL W. MILLER, age 66, of 228 Williams St., died yesterday in St. Louis, where he had been visiting. A native of Cumberland, he was a son of the late William D. and Mary (RUNCKLE) MILLER. Employed by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Co., Mr. MILLER was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the Railway Carmen's Union. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Catherine HIGGS and Mrs. Mary BROWN, both of this city; four sons, Raymond MILLER, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Howard MILLER, of New York City, and Carl and Paul MILLER, both of this city; two sisters, Mrs. Grace REDLICK, Newark, N.J., and Mrs. Grace BROADWATER, this city; two brothers Vernon MILLER, this city, and Russell MILLER; 18 grandchildren and a great grandchild. The body will arrive here tomorrow and be taken to the Kight Funeral Home.

FROSTBURG — Mrs. Catherine D. Miller, 52, Baltimore, died yesterday at Mercy Hospital there. A former resident of Midlothian, she was a daughter of Mrs. Margaret (Canning) Duncan, Baltimore, and the late Alex Duncan. Survivors, in addition to her mother, are one daughter, Colleen Miller, at home, and two brothers, John and Donald Duncan, Baltimore. The body is at the Hafer Funeral Home, 60 West Main Street, where friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p. m. Requiem mass will be celebrated Friday, 9:30 a. m. at St. Michael's Church. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Grantsville, Md., Nov. 7— Mrs. Catherine Otto Miller, 80, wife of Gideon Miller, oldest Mennonite minister of the Casselman Valley, died at her home at Springs, Pa., near here, Tuesday night. She was born on the farm now occupied by Wilson Folk, near here, a daughter of the late Jacob and Annie Otto. Her husband is one of the oldest ministers in the Southwest Pennsylvania Conference. Survivors include three sons, Dwight, Myron, and Aaron Miller; two sisters, Mrs. H. M. Geinett and Mrs. Wilson Livengood, and one brother, Jacob Otto.

Charles A. Miller, aged 72 years, husband of Mary E. Miller, Railroad street, Westernport, died yesterday morning at 2:15 o'clock at Allegany Hospital, Cumberland, following an operation on Sunday night. He had been ill five weeks. He was employed by the Cumberland and Pennsylvania Railroad for 55 years. He was engaged in watching their crossing at Westernport when he retired. He was a member of the Order of Railway Conductors, Knights of Columbus and the Holy Name Society. Charles Alexander Miller, 88, of Confluence, died Feb. 10, after an illnes of five weeks. Death was attributed to a heart ailment. He was born in Somerfield and had lived in Confluence for many years. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon, the Rev. Dr. Alden Allen officiating. Burial in Johnson Chapel Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Margaret Bird Fisher Miller, and these children: Gilbert Miller of Ellwood City; Mrs. Stella Brown, Youngstown, Ohio; Mrs. Helen Neddrow, Indian Head; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Berlin. Pa., Dec. 19 —Charles D. Miller, 63, prominent farmer of Fairhope R. D. for many years, was found dead in bed Friday at his home. Dr. P. E. Sass of Boswell attributed the death due to a heart attack. Mr. Miller is survived by his widow, Mrs. Rebecca (Deneen) Miller, and these children: Merle, Somerset; Mrs. W. A. Miller and Mrs. August Brenke, both of Fairhope; Mrs. Robert Bryan, Cumberland, Md.; Charles W., at home; Mahlon and Grove, both of Fairhope; George, Bud, Allen, and Harvey, all at home. Mr. Miller was a brother of Mrs. George Deneen, Somerset; Mrs. Minnie Martz, Somerset, and Mrs. Ida Sarver, Fairhope. Funeral services were conducted this afternoon at the Miller home. Interment was in Miller Cemetery, Fairhope.

MT. LAKE PART - Charles Edward Miller, 81, died at his home yesterday following a lingering illness. A son of the late Charles and Mary Ann (Johnson) Miller, he was born in Lonaconing on June 27, 1880. His wife, Mary (Hott) Miller, preceded him in death. Mr. Miller resided in Garrett County for the past eight years, following his retirement as a coal miner in Fayette City, Pa. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Mildred Miller, at home; three grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Herbert Groves, Mt. Lake Park; three brothers, Jacob Miller, Cresaptown, Zeddock and Harvey Miller, both of Dear Park. The body is at the Leighton Funeral Home, Oakland. It will be taken to Paradise Evangelical United Brethren Church Friday at noon for services at 2 p.m. by Rev. G. Bryan Blair, pastor, and Rev. C. P. Anderson, pastor, of Deep Creek Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Paradise church cemetery.

Mr. Miller was born here, a son of the late Wesley and Sally (Hansel) Miller. He was the retired custodian at Beall Elementary School and was a member and trustee of First Congregational Church. Survivors include his widow, Louise (Fisher) Miller; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Loar, here, and Mrs. Betty Winters, Vale Summit; one son, Charles W. Miller, Jr., here; four sisters, Mrs. Annie Davis and Mrs. Ruth Fisher, both of here; Mrs. Ellen Gould, Georgia, and Mrs. Elizabeth Patterson, Shaft; three brothers, John and Albert Miller, both of here and Oscar Miller, Shaft; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Christopher Miller, father of 19 children, 17 surviving, died Sunday evening at his home at Avilton, Garrett County near Lonaconing. He was born on a farm on Dan's Mountain near Lonaconing. The body was taken to the house of his son, C. C. Miller, Lonaconing, where the funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with burial in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow. Other surviving children are: J. J. FROSTBURG - Clarence Ort Miller, 86, of Route 1, Frostburg, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1993 at his residence. Born on May 30, 1907 in Midland, he was the son of the late Edward and Suzanna (MacFarlane) Miller. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Miller Sr. and Harry E. Miller. Mr. Miller was the last immediate survivor of his family. Mr. Miller was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Allegany County Farm Bureau; past Allegany County Fair Board member and a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Frostburg. Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth (Holler) Miller; one son, Edward S. Miller and wife, Mary, Clarkton, N.C.; five daughters, Jean Marchione and husband John, Bel Air; Suzanne Zeiders and husband, James, Bartlesville, Okla.; Sally Valentiner and husband, Clark, Elizabethtown, N.C.; Lois Crossland and husband, Lawrence, Route l, Frostburg; Judy Miller, at home; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two nieces and two nephews. Services and interment will be private. Friends may visit at the residence. The family requests that memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church or the Cystoscopy Department of Memorial Hospital. The Durst Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

ELK GARDEN, W.Va. - Claude A. Miller, 70, died Tuesday at Heartland Nursing Home, Kingwood. Born in Gormania, he was a son of the late Archibald Miller and Mary C. (Schreve) Miller. A retired Bausch and Lomb employee, he was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Nancy Hanks VFW Post. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Gloria Gay, Bayard; Mrs. Sondra E. Evans, here; three sons, Claude E. Miller, Gormania; Joseph W. Miller, Deer Park, and Bruce A. Miller, here; two sisters, Mrs. Mamie Racey, Mrs. Hildred Foley, both of Gormania, and 13 grandchildren. HYNDMAN, Pa. — Cleo A. (Boyer) Miller, 57, of Hyndman Road, Hyndman, formerly of Buffalo Mills, went to be with the lord, Sunday June 8, 2003, at her resdence. Born March 18, 1946 in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Leo Keel and Patricia A. (Boyer) Bittner. She was preceded in death by a son, Cliff Shaffer; two sisters, Esther K. Deneen and Linda Sue Crosby. Mrs. Miller was a former emloyee of the S. Schwab Company as a seamstress. She attended the Calvary Bible Church, Ellerslie and the Bible Gospel Church, Hyndman. She was a former member of the Hyndman Volunteer Fire Department, Ladies Auxiliary and Kennells Mill Sportsman Club’s Ladies Auxzilary. She is survived by her mother, Patricia A. (Boyer) Bittner, Hyndman; husband Irvin T. “Ted” Miller, whom she married June 12, 1970, in Ellerslie. She is survived by one son, L. Dean Miller and wife Barb, Cumberland; two daughters, Tina L. Miller and boyfriend Bobby Cook and Rebecca S. “Becky” Miller andboyfriend David Dietz, both of Hyndman; and three grandchildren, L. Dean Miller Jr., Zachary Miller and Michaela Dietz. She is also survived by four sisters, Mary A., wife of Ken Printy of Ellerslie; Diane L. HYNDMAN. Pa. - Clyde A. Miller, 71, of Hyndman, died Saturday, Nov. 21, 1992 in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va. Born April 18, 1921 in Hyndman, he was the son of the late Robert Burns and Amanda (Mullin) Miller. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Mr. Miller retired in 1980 after 38 years of service with the B&O Railroad, Cumberland. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Thelma R. (Burkett) Miller; a daughter, Emmogene Smiley and her husband, Fred, of LaVale; a sister, Elsie Wolford, Hyndman; and two grandsons, Jeffrey and Brett Smiley. Decatur - On Wednesday, September 18, 2013, the life journey of Dorothy Elizabeth Fittro Miller, 92, ended peacefully with her family by her side at Imboden Creek Living Center, Decatur, Illinois. A service to celebrate Dorothy's life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 22, at the Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur. Friends may call until service time. Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 23, 2013, in Woodlawn Cemetery in Clinton, Illinois. Dorothy was born in rural DeWitt County on January 27, 1921, to Dora Bunyard Fittro and Charles Harvard Fittro. During the summer in Clinton, she met her future husband, Earl Lee Miller, who graduated from high school in 1937. They were married on March 16, 1940, in Clinton, IL, at the Methodist parsonage. Her sister, Irene Fittro Reeder and her husband George Reeder, were witnesses. They made their home in Clinton, and two daughters were born into this union. During World War II while her husband was in the service, Dorothy worked at Woolworth's in Clinton. Dorothy was a member of South Shores United Methodist Church, which is now in with Grace United Methodist Church. Nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Earl Lee Miller, her parents, sister Nora Covey, Irene Reeder; brothers, Wendel Fittro, Wayne Fittro, and baby Fittro.

FROSTBURG — Dorothy Elizabeth Miller, 82, of Frostburg, died suddenly on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, at her residence. Born July 3, 1925, in Grantsville, she was the daughter of the late Marshall and Ruth (Broadwater) McKenzie. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Paul McKenzie and Robert McKenzie, infant. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, she was dedicated to her family. She was a graduate of Grantsville High School and Sacred Heart School of Nursing. She spent her entire career employed as a registered nurse at Frostburg Miners Hospital. She is survived by her husband, William John Miller; two daughters, Connie Blank and husband Eugene, Frostburg, Dottie Hohing and husband Larry, LaVale; four grandchildren, Stefanie Boggs and husband Steven, Cumberland, Anne Hutzell and husband Shawn, Frostburg, Erin Hohing and fiance Jason Bishop, Louisville, Ky., Ryan Hohing, Blacksburg, Va.; three great-grandchildren, Hannah Hensel, Jacob Hutzell and Leah Boggs. Also surviving are one sister, Evelyn Tipping, Euclid, Ohio; and one brother, William McKenzie, Loebelville, Tenn. Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, PA., 60 W Main St., Frostburg, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. George M. Harpold officiating. Pallbearers will be Steven Boggs, Ryan Hohing, Shawn Hutzell, Jim Mochan and Sam Morgan. Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park. The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Dorothy's honor to the Make A Wish Foundation or the LaVale Lions Club.

Frostburg-Earl Kenneth Miller, Jr., 32, of 65 Linden Street., died last night in Miners Hospital where he had undergone surgery a week ago. Born in Frostburg, he was a son of Earl K. and Hazel (Ward) Miller. Employed as a bricklayer, he was a veteran of the Korean War and a Member of the Bricklayers Union. Besides his parents, with whom he resided, he is survived by his wife Martha Lee (Staup); two sons, Ray Herbert and Randy Kenneth Miller, at home, and two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Brode, Ephrata, Pa., and Mrs. Edythe Smith, Cresaptown. The body is at the Durst Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 7-9 pm today and 2-4 and 7-9 pm tomorrow.

Frostburg - Earl K. Miller, 78, of 65 Linden Street, died yesterday in Frostburg Community Hospital where he had been a patient two weeks. He had been in failing health one year. Born in Markleton, Pa., he was the son of the late William H. and Myrtle (Peterson) Miller. A veteran of World War I, he was a member of Henry Hart Post 1411, Veterans of Foreign War, Cumberland. Surviving are his widow, Hazel (Ward) Miller; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Brode, Harrington, Del., and Edythe Smithe, Cresaptown; two brothers, Dalton C. Miller, Lincoln, Neb., and Wayne H. Miller, Meyersdale, Pa.; three sisters, Mrs. Eva Compton, St. Paul, Pa. and Mrs. Eleanor Meager, and Mrs. Ethel Baker, both of Meyersdale; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren. Friends will be received in the Durst Funeral Home tomorrow from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm. Burial in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland, Md.

WELLERSBURG - Mrs. Edith E. Miller, 84, of here, died Monday in a Berlin, Pa., nursing home. A native of Wellersburg. she was born January 21, 1883, a daughter of the late Adam and Mary (Brinham) Trimble. Her husband, William Espy Miller, preceded her in death. Mrs. Miller was a member of the Wellersburg United Church of Christ. Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Jessie Diehl, Cresaptown; one grandchild and three great-grandchildren. The body is at the Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted at the funeral home Thursday at l p.m. by Rev. John Klindt. Interment will be in Hyndman Cemetery.

ELLERSLIE —Mrs. Edith May Miller, 69, died last night at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland. She was the wife of William Ambrose Miller of Ellerslie. A native of Ellerslie, Mrs. Miller was a daughter or the late Emanuel and Sarah (Witt) Lowery. She was born September 17, 1881. Surviving besides her husband are three children, Mrs. Shannon Winebrenner, Potomac Park; Arthur P. Miller, Ellerslie; and Mrs. George Hansrote, Ellerslie; three brothers, Frank Lowery, Hollidaysburg, Pa., Henry and Walter Lowery, both of Ellerslie; six sisters, Mrs. Harry Lowery, Mrs. G. I. Shroyer, Mrs. David Devore, and Mrs. Lester Conner, all of Ellerslie; Mrs. Gilbert O'Baker, Wellersburg, Pa.; and Mrs. Russell Kennell, Fort Wayne, Ind. She was a member of the Ellerslie Evangelical United Brethren Church where services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday by the pastor, Rev. Charles Raley. Interment will be in Cook's Mill cemetery.

MEYERSDALE, Pa. — Edward Miller, 86, died yesterday at his home here. He was a retired farmer and had been employed as a custodian at SS. Philip and James Catholic Church. A native of Maryland, he was born on June 20, 1878, and was a son of the late Christopher and Jane (Warnick) Miller. His wife, Cordelia (Garlitz) Miller, preceded him in death. He is survived by three sons, Clay Miller, Hooversville; Harold Miller, Republic, Ohio; and Paul D. Miller, Meyersdale RD 3; four daughters, Mrs. Lucille M. Zinn, Long Beach, Calif.; Mrs. Rexford 0. Bittinger, Grantsville; Mrs. Romaine Smith, Cumberland; and Mrs. John Kirian, Republic; 28 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. The body will be at the Price Funeral Home after 7 p.m. today. A requiem mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in SS Philip and James Church with Rev. James S. Kirkpatrick, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Anne's Cemetery, Avilton. The pallbearers will be grandchildren of Mr. Miller. The Rosary will be recited Sunday at 8 p.m. in the funeral home.

Edward E. Miller, 71, Rockwood, died of a heart attack in Sarasota, Florida, Friday, Dec. 24, at 11:45. His body was returned to Rockwood on Sunday. He and his wife had just recently gone to Florida, as was their custom each winter. The son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Tobias Miller of Meyersdale, he was a prominent businessman in Rockwood. He began business there as a restaurant keeper and later opened a grocery store which afterwards was known as E. E. Miller and Sons. He retired from business in December, 1947. Last August, Mr. and Mrs. Miller celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with open house to all their friends. Besides his wife he is survived by a son, Paul J. Miller, Rockwood, and a daughter, Miss Mary Miller, at home. A son, Arthur J., who was associated with his father and brother in the business, died June 7, 1945. Also surviving are a brother, Robert H. Miller of Pittsburgh, and the following sisters, Mrs. Arthur Witt, Somerset; Mrs. T. O. Shaffer and Mrs. Anna Shultz, Cumberland, Md., and Mrs. J. H. Hartline, Rockwood. Mr. Miller was prominently known in business and community circles. He was a member of the Rockwood Rotary Club, and had been president of the Chamber of Commerce and president of the Farmers and Merchants National Bank of Rockwood, and was an active member of the Lutheran Church. Funeral services were held at the Miller home Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 with the Rev. Hillis G. Berkey officiating. Burial under the direction of Mills and Mickey in the Rockwood IOOF Cemetery.

FROSTBURG — Mrs. Effie R. Miller, 87, of 75 Frost Village, formerly of St. Petersburg, Fla., died yesterday at Kyle Nursing Home, Lonaconing, where she had been a patient two years. Born in Fairmont, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Virginia (Hair) (sic:Hare) Reppert. She was married twice. Both husbands, E. Cloyd Evans and John J. Miller, preceded her in death. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and Bethlehem Chapter 169, OES. Surviving are a son, James H. Evans, Frostburg: a brother, J. Harold Reppert, Gaithersburg; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The body is at the Durst Funeral Home, where friends will be received from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m. A service will be conducted there tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Donald F. A native of Somerset County, she was a daughter of the late Irvin and Amanda (Shumac) Miller. Surviving are her stepmother, Mrs. Bertha Werner; two step-brothers, Earl Miller, here, and Dwight Miller, Berlin; two half-sisters, Mrs. Patty Meyers and Mrs. Leota Meyers, York. The body is at the Konhaus Funeral Home where friends will be received and where a service will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. Rev. Richard DuPont and Rev. Robert Burns will officiate. Mrs. Ellen Miller, 70 years old, wife of the late Henry Miller, for many years the proprietor of the Brunswick Hotel, died this morning at 8:40 o'clock at the hotel where she resided with her only son, Joseph H. Miller, proprietor. She is survived by three step-sons, children of Mr. Miller by his first marriage - Elbert E. Miller, banker, Hyndman, Pa.; Richard and William Miller in Indiana. Mrs. Miller had been ill since Saturday and had been stricken with pneumonia Tuesday. She was a member of St. Mark's Reformed Church. Mrs. Miller was a native of Fairhope, Pa. She came here with her husband over 30 years ago. She is survived by two brothers, Peter Troutman, Fairhope; John Troutman, Gladdens, Pa.; and three sisters, Mrs. Kate Tressler, this city, formerly of Glencoe, Pa.; Misses Emma and Mary Troutman, Fairhope, Pa. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon with burial beside her husband at Hyndman, Pa. The Rev. Eugene P. Skyles, pastor of St. Mark's Reformed Church, will officiate at the service to be held here.

PETERSBURG, W.Va. — Eugenia F. “Jean” Miller, 83, of Petersburg, passed away Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011 at the Grant County Nursing Home, where she resided since June 2010. Born in Luke, on Jan. 24, 1928, she was the daughter of the late John H. VanMeter and Fredericka V. (Whetzel) VanMeter. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Herbert VanMeter, Roy VanMeter; and two sisters, Margaret Louise VanMeter and Janet P. Guy. She is survived by three sons, Vernon “Swip” Miller and wife Mary Jane, Mays-ville, W.Va., Gerald of Moorefield, W.Va. and Jimmy Miller and wife Kim of Roberta, Ga. She had one daughter, Bonnie Doman and husband Manuel of Keyser, W.Va.; and one brother, Bernard VanMeter and wife Mary Ann of Oak Island, N.C. Jean is also survived by her grandchildren, Jeff Miller, Chris Miller, Jeremy Doman, Rusty Doman, Julie Gray, Tammy Miller, Briana Coleman and a special grandson, Troy Miller. She had one step-grandson, Joel Whisner. She also had six great-grandsons and five great-granddaughters. At her request she has been cremated and there will be no services. Inurnment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport, at a later date. Boal Funeral Home of Westernport is in charge of the arrangements.

Evelyn Marie Miller, 84, of 212 Philos Ave., Westernport, Md., passed away Thursday, October 21, 2004, after a long illness, at Moran Manor Nursing Home, Westernport, where she had been a resident. Born September 5, 1920, in Franklin, Md., she was the daughter of the late Irving and Marie (O'Neil) Sutherland. A sister, Madeline Miller, and a brother, Tom Sutherland, also preceded her in death. She was the last survivor of her immediate family. Mrs. Miller was a homemaker. She was a 50-plus member of First Baptist Church, Westernport. Evelyn enjoyed her visits and family outings at her Savage River camp, and she also loved her grandchildren. She leaves behind her husband of 65 years, Allen Miller; one son, Richard Miller and wife Pat of LaVale; two grandchildren, Steve Miller and wife Marci of Gettysburg, Pa., Carrie Wintersteen and husband Matt of King of Prussia, Pa.; three great-grandchildren, Katelyn Miller, Stephanie Miller and Evan Wintersteen; and a special friend, Ginny Moore. The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Saturday. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Sunday at 2 p.m., with Rev. Bruce Glisson and Rev. Gary Morris officiating. Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport.
