BURLINGTON, W.Va. - John E. Nabors, 75, formerly of RD 1, who resided at the Avalon Nursing Home in Hagerstown, Md., died Monday, Aug. 27, 1990 at Washington County Hospital there. Born May 10, 1915 in Lewisburg, he was the son of the late George W. and Nannie (Murphy) Nabors. His foster parents were the late Amos and Bessie Holsinger. Mr. Nabors was a retired crane operator at the Bethlehem Shipyards in Baltimore, Md. He served in the Army in World War II, and was a member of the Beaver Run Church of the Brethren. Survivors include his widow, Esta S. (Smith) Nabors; one daughter, Goldie Cain, Green Spring; a foster daughter, Melissa Marie Smith, Burlington; two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Rotruck Funeral Home, Keyser. Services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel by the Rev. Ernest Boyd. Interment will be in the Canan Cemetery, near Burlington.

Mrs. Jessie P. Naill, 83, of 608 Ann's Place, died Sunday in Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient 10 days. She had been in ill health several years. Born in Artemas, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Thomas H. Leasure and Anna Belle (Barnes) Leasure. Her husband, Thomas W. Naill, died in 1976. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Leona Pyles, Corriganville; Mrs. Hilda Moyer and Mrs. Virginia Moyer, both of Flintstone; one son, James E. Naill, Flintstone; 23 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Silcox-Merritt Funeral Residence from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home by Rev. Richard E. Manning. Interment will be in Fairview Christian Cemetery, Inglesmith, Pa.

William Henry Naill Sr., 58, of Star Route, Flintstone, died yesterday at Memorial Hospital. Born at Little Orleans, he was a son of Thomas and Jessie (Leasure) Naill, Flintstone. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Naill was employed at Works Seven, PPG Industries. Also surviving are his widow, Dorothy M. (Longenecker) Naill; three sons, William H. Jr., Flintstone; Cpl. Richard A., with the Marines at Andrews Air Force Base, and Steven J. Naill, at home; four daughters, Mrs. Dorothy I. Lewis, Jackson Center, Pa.; Mrs. Barbara Weimer, Cumberland, and Misses Sylvia N. and Debra B. Naill, both at home; a brother, James E. Naill, Flintstone; three sisters, Mrs. Leona Pyles, Mrs. Hilda Moyer and Mrs. Virginia Moyer, all of Flintstone, and nine grandchildren. The body is at the Scarpelli Funeral Home. Services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:30 p. m. at the funeral home. Rev. Fenton Plater will officiate and interment will be in Glendale Cemetery.

Michael Stanley Nair, 52, Aurora, W.Va., passed away on Monday, June 27, 2011, at his home. Born Jan. 3, 1959, in Oakland, he was a son of Naomi "Patsy" Nair, Aurora, and the late Therman Nair. Mike was a paramedic for Preston County for 19 years. He joined the Aurora Volunteer Fire Department in 1975 as a junior member and became a member in 1977. He loved being involved with the AVFD. He had collected 500 or more collectible fire trucks and enjoyed working with guns. He was a member of the Honorary Auxiliary Retired Teachers Association and an EMT for Union Ambulance. He also joined the Special Forces of the U.S. Army in 1977. In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sons, David Nair and wife Stephanie, and Christopher Nair, both of Uniontown, Pa.; one daughter, Michelle Nair, Uniontown; one grandson, Andrew Nair, Uniontown; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is also survived by three special friends, Liz Daniels, Patty Arbogast, and Shad Green, whose love and consideration shown to Mike will never be forgotten. They were true friends to him at all times. Friends were received at the Aurora Memorial Building. A service was conducted at Brookside Church of the Brethren on Wednesday, June 29, with Pastor Scott Rush and Pastor Debbie Strawser officiating. Interment followed in Eglon Cemetery. Hinkle Funeral Home, Davis, W.Va., was in charge of arrangements.

Robert D. Nair, 65, Oakland, died Sunday, Oct. 27, 1996, at, Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland. Born April 2, 1931 in Oakland, he was a son of the late Frank Nair and Lily (O'Haver) Nair-White. He is survived by one sister, Betty Stewart, Cumberland; and one brother, Harold Nair, Cumberland. Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, where a service was conducted Wednesday, Oct. 30, with the Rev. Mamie Wilt officiating. Interment was in the Oakland Cemetery.

Thurman Stanley Nair, 71, of Aurora, died May 2, at home. He was born Feb. 8, 1933 in Oakland, MD, a son of the late Bert Nair and Helen Lucretia Ohaver Nair who survives. Also surviving are his wife of 48 years, Naomi "Patsy" Crowe Nair; a son Michael Stanley Nair of Aurora; three brothers, Joseph, Larry and Thomas Nair; a half sister Valerie King and three grandchildren. Mr. Nair was a retired teacher. He was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, a veteran of the US Army, American Legion Post 71 of Oakland, MD and a member of the Maple Spring Church of the Brethren. Friends will be received at Hinkle Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 6, from 2-5 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 6 at 10:30 am at maple Spring Church of the Brethren with Revs. Rogers Fike and Glen Nessely officiating. Interment will follow in the Eglon Cemetery.

"The funeral of Mrs. Bridget Nairn, wife of Richard Nairn, took place yesterday morning at 9 o'clock from St. Michael's Catholic church. Interment was in St. Michael's cemetery. The pallbearers were her five grandsons: Richard V., James, John, Frank and Alphonsus, and their cousin, Thomas Cain. She is survived by one daughter, Margaret, in Nova Scotia, and two sons, Richard, in Ohio and Jacob, in Frostburg, also twenty-three grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren. The deceased was 99 years old and a remarkable woman. She had been a widow fifty-eight and a half years and has been making her home for the last twenty years with her son, Jacob Nairn, in this city."

FROSTBURG — A funeral service for Frank J. Nairn, 66, of 25 Broadway, who died Wednesday in Miner's Hospital, was held Saturday in St Michael's Catholic Church, with Rev. Francis E. Montgomery, administrator, conducting the service Rev. Patrick J, Bradley, pastor, and Rev. Regis Larkin, assistant pastor, were in the sanctuary. Funeral of Richard V Nairn
Funeral services for Richard V Nairn, 409 Beall St, native of Lonaconing, who died Tuesday after a major operation were held this morning at SS Peter and Paul Church with requiem mass sung by the children of the seventh grade of the school of which his only daughter, Mary Nairn, is a pupil. The celebrant of the mass was Rev Fr Boniface, pastor. The Rev Fr Joseph Nolan of Frostburg was in the sanctuary. Interment was in the church cemetery. The pallbearers were: John Smith, Rodney Smith, Joseph Holleran, A R Forney, O A Keller and A A Hebb, the latter three representing Cumberland Aerie No 245, F O Eagles, of which Mr Nairn was a member. The funeral was largely attended by friends and relatives including Mr and Mrs Henry Seiss and Mrs Kate Gessner, Homestead, Pa; Alphonse Nairn, Aliquippa, Pa; Mrs Katie Smith, McKeesport, Pa; Mrs James Smith and son, Glassport, Pa; Mr and Mrs Frank Nairn and son, Frostburg; Mrs James Eckenrode, Baltimore and Mrs Fred Rouzer, Hagerstown.

Mrs Veronica Narey, 72, widow of Peter J Narey, died last night in Sacred Heart Hospital following an extended illness. She was a daughter of the late Timothy and Bridget (Donahue) Cullen. Mrs. Narey was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Frostburg, the Sodality of the parish and the Auxiliary of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. Surviving are two daughters; Mrs. James T. Byrnes, with whom she resided, and Mrs James Flanigan, Frostburg; two sons, Vincent Narey, this city and John F. Narey, Memphis Tenn.; a brother, Timothy A Cullen, Washington; four sisters Miss Genevieve Cullen and Mrs John Bryson, both of this city; Mrs. Elizabeth Morgan, Frost.burg, and Mrs. Margaret Meyers, Hanover, Pa., and six grandchildren. CARPENDALE, W.Va. — Dorothy Louise Natolly, 83, of Carpendale, died at her home on Friday, Sept. 16, 2011. Born Jan. 1, 1928 in Mount Savage, she was the daughter of the late Norman Miller and Pauline (Beaver) Miller. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John F. Natolly Sr.; a brother Carl Miller; and two sisters, Mary Harvey and Shirley Smith. A homemaker, Mrs. Natolly was a member of St. George’s Episcopal Church, the St. George’s Womens’ Group as well as the Ladies Auxiliary of the Ridgeley V.F.W. She was a former member of the Bowman’s Addition Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by two sons, John F. Natolly II and wife Dorothy, Cumberland, and Steven L. Natolly and whife Sharon, Winchester, Va.; a daughter, Lois A. Natolly and fiancé John Tsokalas, Carpendale; a sister, Betty Preston and husband Oscar, Mount Savage; two grandchildren, John F. Besides his wife, Mrs Frances Naughton, he is survived by two sons, Michael and Edward Naughton; three daughters, Misses Margaret, Mary and Catherine Naughton; also two sisters, Misses Anna Catherine and Margaret Naughton. Mr Naughton was the son of the late Michael and Anna Naughton and for many years was a member of St Patrick's Catholic Church.

Born in Cumberland, Mrs. Naughton was a daughter of the late Justice and Margaret Grabenstein. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic church. Surviving are five children, Michael J. and Miss Margaret Naughton, both at home; Mrs. J. A. Hasenbalg, of Baltimore, and Mrs. Fred W. Porter and Edward J. Mr. Francis P. Naughton, who was trainmaster for the West Virginia Central railioad for a number of years, or until forced to resign on account of ill health, died yesterday evening at 6:45 at his residence, 65 Union street, the result of paralysis, the first stroke of which he received six years ago. At that time he recovered somewhat and continued his work on the railroad, with headquarters in this city, until several successive strokes incapacitated him for work. The most severe stroke he sustained in December last, since which time he has been confined to his room. On Saturday morning last, he suffered with congestions of the brain and from that time until his death he never regained consciousness. Mr. Naughton was the eldest son of the late Michael Naughton, a prominent farmer of near Cumberland, and was born at Mt. Savage. this county, Mav 17, 1847. He was educated at Carroll Hall Academy, in this city. and entered the service of the Baltimore and Ohio railroad, Pittsburgh division, in 1874 as a night telegraph operator, from that position gradually working his way to the important post of division trainmaster which he held until compelled to give up on account of illness. In 1875 he became station ticket agent of the Pennsylvania and Cumberland and Pennsylvania railroad at Mt. Savage Junction serving one year; going from there to State Line, Pa., where he served eleven years as yard master and station freight agent of the Pennsylvania railroad. Bedford division: then one year as joint station, freight and ticket agent at Cumberland for the Pennsylvania railroad, the West Virginia Central and Pittsburg railroad and the George's Creek and Cumberland railroad. From the latter position he was promoted to division train master of the West Virginia Centra! and Pittsburg railroad. He was married in Bedford, Pa., October 3rd, 1877, to Miss Sarah Louise Mickle. daughter of William P. and Margaret F. Mickle, of Bedford. Of this union five children were born, four of whom survive.

Frank E. Naughton, 84, died last night at his home 112 North Smallwood street, following an illness of several weeks. Born in Barton, the son of the late Michael P. and Ann (Dailey) Naughton, he was a retired trainmaster for the old Cumberland Pennsylvania Railroad Company. Mr. Naughton was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic church, the Holy Name Society of the parish, the Third Order of St. Francis, the Tri-State Traffic Association, Cumberland Council 586, Knights of Columbus and Chief Justice Taney General Assembly, Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. His wife, Mrs. Lorena G. (Gooding) preceded him in death. Surviving are two sons, Harold E. and Marcus A. Naughton, both of this city, a daughter, Mrs. Charles F. Burke, St. Petersburg, Fla; a brother James G. Naughton, Westernport and seven grandchildren. The body is at the Scarpelli Funeral Home where friends will be received today from 7 to 9 p.m. and tomorrow and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Frank J. Naughton, 74, of 208 Central Avenue, died yesterday in Sacred Heart hospital where he had been a patient one week. He had been in ill health. Born here January 8, 1901, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Francis P. Naughton. Twice married, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Hilda I. (Reynolds) Naughton, in 1956 and Mildred A. (Poorbaugh) Naughton in 1973. He was the last of his mmediate family. He was a retired employe of the National Jet Company where he was a drill inspector. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Friends will be received at the George Funeral Home today from 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated tomorrow at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. A Christian wake service will be conducted today at 8 p.m. in the funeral home.

WESTERNPORT — James G. Naughton Sr., 80, of 95 Main Street, died Friday in Cumberland. A native of Barton, he was the son of the late Michael and Ann (Dailey) Naughton. He was a retired telegrapher of the Western Maryland Railway. He is survived by his widow, Nina Legge Naughton; one son, James Naughton Jr., Westernport; and five grandchildren. The body is at the Boal Funeral Home where a service will be conducted today at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Philos Cemetery.

He was a veteran of World War II and was a member of the American Legion, St. Michael’s Catholic Church, and the Holy Name Society. He was employed by the Hazelwood Construction Company. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Helen (McKenzie)Naughton, and his mother, Mrs. Helen Genevieve Naughton. The body will be at the Durst Funeral Home. The funeral service will be conducted Monday at 9:30 a.m. in St.Michael’s Church. Interment will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Avilton.

Mrs Mary J Naughton, wife of William H Naughton, died this morning at 11 o'clock at her home No 24 Decatur St. Mrs Naughton had been suffering from a complication of diseases for a long time, but her illness did not assume a serious turn until one week ago. The deceased was a woman who led a model life. She was just as devoted a wife as she was a loving mother. She was a woman charitably inclined. A neighbor woman it was a pleasure to be associated with and an ever faithful helpmate. Mrs Naughton was a Miss Coveney prior to her marriage and is survived by a husband and the following children: Clifton, Reginald, W H Naughton, Jr and Miss Annie Naughton. She is survived by one brother, Mr Dennis Coveney, superintendent of the United States Leather Company at Everett, Pa and Miss Maggie Coveney of this city. "Mrs. Mary Naughton, 70 years old, widow of Michael F. Naughton, of Westernport, Md., and sister of Rev. Michael J. Riordon, rector of St. Martin's church in Washington, died at Province Hospital, Washington, Thursday, following a brief illness. Mrs. Naughton, the daughter of Owen Riordon, former mine inspector for the State of Maryland, had been a life-long resident of Westernport, Md. Mrs. Naughton was the mother of 11 children, five of whom survive her. They are: John Naughton, of Westernport, Md., and Owen Naughton of Port Townsend, Wash., and three daughters, Mrs. Paul Curran, of Wheeling, W. Va., Mrs. Louis Whitworth, of Asheville, N.C., and Miss Mary Naughton of Rockville. She is also survived by two sisters, Sister Assunta of Our Lady of Victory School, Philadelphia, and Mrs. John A. Jepson, of New York City. Requiem mass service was sung this morning in St. Martin's Church. Rev. M.J. Riordon was assisted by Rev. Francis X. Cavanaugh and Rev. Paul Furfey. The sermon was preached by Rev. Francis Ryan of St. Mark's Church, Catonsville, Md. Burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Washington."

"Death of Nurse After Her Patient's Burial-Former Westernport Girl Dies In Norwalk, Ohio From Alleged Poisoning-
Norwalk, Ohio, Nov. 11--The death here of Miss Mary Naughton, 26, a nurse, formerly of Westernport, Md., by poisoning, was attributed by officials to her grief over the death of Boyd Bateman, a World War veteran, who died in a Washington, D.C., government hospital of tuberculosis. Miss Naughton came to Norwalk Oct. 29 with the body of Bateman, one time merchant, for burial. At his interment she appeared grief-stricken. She died Friday night in Memorial Hospital at Norwalk while under a physician's care. Whether the poison was taken accidentally was not known. Coroner C.L. Bell said an investigation was not required because she had medical attention before her death. A brother and sister from Westernport came to attend Miss Naughton's funeral and burial was made in Huron, Ohio Saturday afternoon. Bateman had been in an army hospital since 1926 and had been under the care of Miss Naughton for some months of his life."

DEATH CLAIMS AGED RESIDENT ~ Mr. Michael Naughton Passed Away Last Evening ~ IN THE 84TH YEAR OF HIS AGE ~ He Resided in Allegany County Since the Thirties - A Man of Fine Traits and General Prominence—Served as County Commissioner
Mr. Michael Naughton died lest evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Conrad Rahrig, Mt. Savage. Although an aged and feeble man Mr. Naughton's death was quite unexpected. He contracted a severe cold several days ago, but was able to sit up yesterday and his ailment was not regarded as serious until shortly before the end came, when a sinking spell from which he did not rally, seized him. Mr. Naughton was one of the pioneer residents of Allegany county, having settled here away back in the thirties. Shortly after coming to Allegany county he settled at Mt. Savage and a few months before his death he returned to that village to die there. Mr. Naughton was born in County Galway, Ireland, in 1820. He came to this country in 1836 landing at Baltimore. On the day after his arrival, he journeyed afoot from Baltimore to Frederick city where his brother, who had preceded him in settling in the United States, resided. Shortly afterward he came to Allegany county and with the exception of a brief period spent in the South in which he was employed for a short while at Savannah, Georgia, he spent his entire life here. In 1845 Mr. Naughton married Miss Anna Elizabeth Dean, whose father was a descendant of one of the old English families, participating in Maryland’s colonization. The marriage was solemnized at Mt. Savage. Mr. Naughton was a shoemaker by trade, but shortly after his marriage he abandoned that occupation and engaged in farming. In 1856 he moved from Mt. Savage to a Will’s creek farm near Corriganville, and in 1872 he purchased what had been known as the Selby place on Evitt’s creek, East of this city. He made the latter place his home until a few months ago. when he leased the farm and went to reside with his daughter, Mrs. Rahrig, at Mt. Savage. His wife died in 1874. His surviving children are Mrs. Rahrig, Misses Kate and Margaret Naughton, and Mr. E. J. Naughton, all of Mt. Savage, and Mr. F. P. and Mr. W. H. Naughton, of this city. In his younger and more active years Mr. Naughton took a keen interest in local public affairs. He was a member of the Board of County Commissioners at one time for several years and frequently served in an advisory capacity in matters pertaining to this county’s affairs. The body of Mr. Naughton will be brought to the residence of his son, Mr. F. P. Naughton on Union Street, this city, from which place the funeral will take place at a time not definitely fixed, but which will probably be on Friday morning

Michael Naughton, 67 years old, died at his home at Barton at three o'clock Thursday from paralysis. The deceased suffered a stroke of parlaysis about a year ago and his death was no surprise. He is survived by his wife, who was Miss Ann Dailey, of Frostburg, six sons, Frank, C. & P. train dispatcher in this city; John, Michael, Gabriel, William and James, and one daughter, Miss Catherine Naughton. The burial will take place on Monday morning from St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, Barton. Father Scarpati will be the celebrant at the requiem mass.

Mrs. Mildred Naughton, 67, of 208 Central Avenue, died yesterday at Somerset (Pa.) Community Hospital. Born in North Hampton Township, Pa., Feb. 3, 1906, she was a daughter of the late Harvey M. and Anna (Scheller) Poorbaugh. She was a member of New Hope Mt. Lebanon United Church of Christ. Surviving are her husband, Frank J. Naughton; four sisters, Mrs. Bertha Smith, Charleston, W. Va.; Mrs. Nettie Deist, RD 1, Glencoe, Pa.; Mrs. Mary Keefer, Akron, Ohio; and Mrs. Ada Hay, Tampa, Fla. The body is at the Johnson Funeral Home in Berlin, Pa., where friends will be received after 7 p.m. today. A service will be conducted there Friday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Terry Foor officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.

NAUGHTON, Mrs. Nina Legge

WESTERNPORT - Mrs. Nina L. Naughton, 82, formerly of here, died Saturday in the Cuppett Weeks Nursing Home, Oakland. Born in Piedmont, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late John W. Legge and Nancy E. (Beall) Legge. She was preceded in death by her husband, James G. Naughton Sr. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Piedmont, a member of Calanthe Temple 8, Pythian Sisters, and a 50-year honorary member of Petunia Council 10 of the Order of Pocahontas. Surviving are one son, James G. Naughton Jr., Westernport; one sister, Mrs. Margaret Harrison, Cumberland Nursing Home; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Friends will be received at Boal Funeral Home today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted in the funeral home tomorrow at 10 a.m. by the Rev. Sumner Sawyers. Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, here.

Funeral of William H Naughton
The funeral of William H Naughton, who was accidentally killed Saturday morning in the Western Maryland Railway Yards at Ridgeley, W Va took place this morning at 9 o'clock with services St Patrick's church and interment in the church cemetery. The pallbearers were: James P Gaffney, Thomas B Lashly, John F Finan, George A Kean, Charles Mullin, C C Hetzel, H D McCoy, William H Mattingly and M F O'Neill. The funeral was largely attended. A number of employees of the Western Maryland Railway turned out in a body. Mr Naughton was highly esteemed in the service. He was a yard conductor for many years.

Elizabeth Raley Naugle was born August 13, 1845, and died at her home in Manns Choice on May 20, 1927, aged 81 years, 9 months and 8 days. Mrs. Naugle is survived by four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and several step-children; also by the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Eva Manges of Pittsburgh, Pa.; Mrs. Ellen Ickes of St. Clairsville; and Harry Raley of Bedford, Pa. Funeral services were conducted Sunday at 2:30 p.m. by Rev. Thomas R. Gibson, assisted by others. Interment was made at the Kintan Cemetery at the Kintan bridge near Manns Choice. The relatives wish to thank the friends and neighbors for their many acts of kindness during her last illness.

James Naugle, one of the oldest citizens of Mann's Choice, died Monday noon of consumption. He was past 78 years. Mr. Naugle was always a friend to the sick and needy. He served in the late war and was one of the stage drivers in years gone by, before railroads ran through our country. His wife, four daughters and three sons survive him. He was a member of the Reformed church for many years. Interment was made in Mt. Olivet cemetery near Mann's Choice. The funeral services were conducted by his pastor, Rev. O. W. Warlick, of the Reformed church.

Born at Bedford Valley, Pa., he was a son of the late Campbell C. and Rebecca (Dermer) Nave. Mr. Nave was a veteran of World War I; a member of First Methodist Church; BPO Elks 470; Adoniram Lodge 517 AF and AM of Akron; Farrady Post 24, American Legion; and Alvin C. Neat Post 5280 VFW, Lonaconing. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Vera (Chapman) Nave; a daughter, Mrs. Charles Wood, Baltimore; a son, Donald Nave, Westminster; a brother, Charles R. Fairmont - Jan 10 - Mrs. Sarah Nay, wife of Rev. Isaac Nay, is dead at her home at Farmington. Her death was caused from an attack of paralysis. Deceased was aged 74 years. Besides her one sister, Mrs. Laverne Price, with whom she resided, she leaves two brothers, Aaron Atha of Colorado, and Vincent Atha of Washington. Mrs. Nay was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Owens Atha, and was a member of one of the oldest families of Marion county. Rev. S. A. Jones conducted the funeral services.

Born near Friendsville August 6, 1894, she was a daughter of the late William M. and Ora Kelly (Cuppett) Frazee. Her husband, Harry E. Naylor, died in 1955. Mrs. Naylor was a member of St. Matthews Episcopal Church. CUMBERLAND - Edgar C. Nazelrod, 81, of 12 West Second Street, Apartment B, died Monday, Feb. 11, 1991, at Memorial Hospital. Born Sept. 12, 1909, in Thomas, W.Va., he was the son of the late Jonah P. and Nannie I. Nazelrod. Mr. Nazelrod was retired from the maintenance department of the Celanese Fibers Corporation. He was a former tractor-trailer driver for Howell Coal Company and a longtime coin collector who participated in flea markets and coin shows. Surviving are his former wife, Mary Growden, Cumberland; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Isabelle M. Hartsock, Jacksonville, Fla.; and two step-grandsons, Paul Yates, Baltimore; and Charles Hartsock, Jacksonville. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, Virginia Avenue. SWANTON — Eston Robert Nazelrod, 50, of Chestnut Grove Road, Swanton, died Tuesday, July 8,1997, at Mon. General Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va. Born April 25, 1947, in Oakland, he was the son of the late William M. and Hazel B. (Harsh) Nazelrod. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, PFC Earl C. Nazelrod “MIA Korea”, and Ernest W. Nazelrod; and one sister, Elenora J. (Nazelrod) Jones. Mr. Nazelrod was a laborer for the Harbison Walker Plant. He was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict and received three bronze star medals and two commendation medals. He was a SGT and Crew Chief on the Huhy Helicopters. He was a member of the VFW Post 10077, Deer Park. Surviving are his wife Virginia “Jenny” (Wilt) Nazelrod; two daughters, Melissa Lohr, Odenton, and Angela Nazelrod, Swanton; two sisters, Esther V. Cross, Laural, Del., and Elizabeth J. John David Nazelrod, 83, farmer, Valley road, died yesterday afternoon. Mr. Nazelrod came to this section about twenty years ago from Peru, Hardy County, WV. In his youth he owned and operated a distillery. He had been active until two weeks ago. Mr. Nazelrod was a member of Mt. Zion Brethren Church at Peru. Surviving are four sons, Robert Nazelrod, Cumberland; Jacob Nazelrod, with whom he lived; Walter Nazelrod, Barrelville, and Noah Nazelrod, formerly of Lake Koon, PA, now enroute to Centralia, Washington; brother, Henry Nazelrod, and sister, Mrs. Martha Frantz, both of Peru; 22 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. His wife died nine years ago. Burial will be at Peru.

Mrs. Nazelrod was a daughter of the late Charles and Anna (McKenzie) McKenzie. She held membership in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Surviving besides her husband, are a daughter, Isabel M. Hartock, Jacksonville, Fla., and two grandchildren. The rosary will be recited at the Hafer Funeral Home at 8 p.m. Monday. Requiem Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 9 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, and interment will be in Greenville Union Cemetery, near Pocahontas, Pa.

FORT ASHBY, W.Va. — Mildred J. Nazelrod, 54, of Fort Ashby, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 1994, at Memorial Hospital. Born on Aug. 16, 1940 in Fort Ashby, she was the daughter of the late John Malcolm and Nedra Leone (Stickley) Dowden. Mrs. Nazelrod graduated from Fort Ashby High School and was a former driver and manager-in-training for Dominoes Pizza. She was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Romney, W.Va. Surviving are her husband, Jonah K. Nazelrod Sr.; three sons, Jonah K. Nazelrod Jr., Edward Samuel Nazelrod and Scott Anthony Nazelrod, all of Romney; one sister, Geraldine Alt, Keyser, W.Va.; two brothers, John Dowden and Melvin Dowden, both of Short Gap, W.Va.; one grandson, Jonah Nazelrod; four step-grandchildren, Ashby and Samuel Hawse; Matthew and Markus Clower, and a god-daughter, Julie Ann Dowden.
