Mrs. Kathe K. Raab, 94, Motel Casa Grande, Madera, Calif., died there yesterday. Born in Graumbach, Germany, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Blanche Kramer, and the widow of Joseph B. Raab. She was a former resident of here, and was a member of the Lutheran Church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Hilda Marcois, Madera; two sons, Hans Raab, Bethesda, and Joseph B. Raab Jr., Montclair, N.J.; eight grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. The body will be returned to the George Funeral Home.

Sarah "Ellen" Rabjohn, 94, of Orange, a bookkeeper at Art Robinson Magnavox, died Sunday of pneumonia. Visitation: 4-8 p.m. today, with services at 2 p.m. Friday, Fairhaven Memorial Park and Mortuary, Santa Ana. Survivors: daughters, Neva Howk, Delann Boyles; sons, Harold Jr., Herbert; sister, Ruth Richardson; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren.

RACCO, Mrs. Clara Alice Warnick

Piedmont, W.Va. Clara A Racco, age 74, of 75 Second St. in Piedmont, WV died on Saturday Oct. 13, 2007 at West Virginia University Hospital in Morgantown, WV. She was born in Westernport, MD on August 7, 1933 and was the daughter of the late Rufford E. Warnick and Mary E. (Clark) Warnick. She was preceded in death by a daughter Patricia Racco, who died in August 1972. Clara was a member of Saint Peter's Catholic Church in Westernport, MD. She was the owner of Clara's Ceramic Shop in Piedmont, WV. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Michael L. Racco and one son, David Racco of Cumberland, MD. She is also survived by five grandchildren; Stephanie Rodriguez, Alexis, Steven, Paige and Kristal Racco and one Great-Granddaughter, Tori Dye. The family will receive friends at the Fredlock Funeral Home in Piedmont, WV on Sunday from 7 to 9 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday Oct. 15 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Westernport, MD with Father Jim Hannon as the celebrant. Interment will follow at Philos Cemetery in Westernport. The family has requested that Memorials for Clara be directed to St. Peter's Catholic Church 127 Church St. in Westernport, MD 21562 for the Capital Improvement Fund.

Martha Taylor Race, of Beall's Lane, Frostburg, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at St. Vincent de Paul Nursing Center, Frostburg, where she was a resident. With her husband Ralph M. Race, she observed their 66th wedding anniversary there on Sept. 15. Mrs. Race was the only daughter of James A. and Lily Thomas Taylor and was born in the home of her grandfather, Joseph Thomas, in Eckhart. Upon his death, her parents erected the home on Beall's Lane where Mrs. Race resided since 1915. Mrs. Race was preceded in death by her parents and only brother, James T. Taylor Sr. and his wife Alice Schofield Taylor. Surviving are two nephews, Dr. James T. Taylor and wife Carole, Smithfield, Va., and Frederick S. Taylor and wife Judith, Crescent, Pa.; and a number of grand-nephews, grand-nieces and cousins. Mrs. Race attended Hampton College, Richmond, Va., and the following year transferred to Maryland College for Women at Lutherville. Her first employment was as assistant and secretary to the late Harry Teter, D.D.S. Upon her father's death, she succeeded to his post of auditor for Miner's Hospital, Frostburg. Mrs. Race retired from that position in 1938, but worked as a temporary teller in the Fidelity Bank during three war years, 1943-45. Her husband served in the Pacific. Mrs. Race was a charter member of the Frostburg Badminton Club, member of the Maplehurst Country Club's founding group and played in its Women's Golf Association, and an organizer of the Frostburg Duplicate Bridge Club. A life-long member of the First Presbyterian Church, Frostburg, Mrs. Race served as Sunday school teacher, trustee, treasurer and was active in its Doorkeeper's Society. A 45-year member, Mrs. Race participated in the Red Cross Blood Mobile project from its formative years until the 1980's. Preceding WWII, she qualified for the Motor Corps, participating in that and other similar wartime efforts. Mrs. Race was a committed supporter of the Frostburg Public Library when it first was founded as a Community Project and of the Foundation for Frostburg in its successful drive to erect the present new building having provided operation funds through a dedicated endowment. The Percy Cemetery Commission also has been a beneficiary of her interest.

RACEY, Mrs. Betty Ann Dye

Betty Ann Racey, 69, of 302 Front St., Westernport, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland. Born May 16, 1935, in Franklin, she was the daughter of the late Harrison and Hester (McManus) Dye. Mrs. Racey was a homemaker. She was formerly employed with Life-Like Products in Baltimore, having been a supervisor. She also was a member of the Queens Point VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She leaves behind her husband, Charles Racey; three sons, Ronnie Coffman of Winchester, Va., Paul Coffman of Winchester, Va., and Junior Coffman of Baltimore; one sister, Teeny (Dye) Gallagher of Jacksonville, N.C.; one brother, John Dye of Piedmont; seven grandchildren, Carrie, Crystal, Betty, Kevin, Amy, Tyler and Ashley; nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Friday. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Saturday at 10:30 a.m., with Rev. Jerry Schloe officiating. Interment will be in Bloomington Cemetery, Bloomington. Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, Md., is in charge of local arrangements.

Augusta B. Radabaugh, 87, of Arthurdale, died Saturday, January 26, 1991, at the  home. She was born May 6, 1903, in Albright, a daughter of Sidney and Effie Hardesty Miller. She was a member of Arthurdale Presbyterian Church. She is survived by six sons, Harold Radabaugh, Darrell Radabaugh and Robert Radabaugh, all of Elyria, OH, James Radabaugh and Kenneth Radabaugh, both of Michigan, and Dennis Radabaugh of Arthurdale; six daughters, Margaret Harris of Michigan, Beulah Wolfe of Masontown, Norma Brown of Gladesville and Katheryn DeBastiani, Leona Hardy and Doris Fortney, all of Arthurdale; three brothers, Fred Miller of Masontown, Norman Miller of Canton, OH, and Ward Miller of Baltimore; two sisters, Gertrude Weaver of Tunnelton and Juanita Uphold of Michigan; 27 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William Radabaugh and a daughter. Friends were received at Kiger-¬Williams Funeral Home, Masontown. Services will be held at I p.m. today, (Wednesday), January 30, with the Rev. Francis Ihram officiating. Interment will be in Reedsville Cemetery. The family requests that donations be made to American Cancer Society.

George Radcliffe, who was braking on a freight train out of Thomas, met with a fatal accident Friday night. The engine became uncoupled from the cars on a steep grade, but was stopped about eight feet from the front car. After the engine was again coupled to the cars the brakes didn't hold, the engine slipped and caught Mr. Radcliffe between the tender and car, breaking his left arm and mashing him between the hips. Mr. Radcliffe was immediately taken to the Davis Hospital at Davis, where he died Saturday afternoon.

Dulcie Adair Rader, the only child of Mr. and Mrs. John Rader, died Saturday, August 5th, at the tender age of one year and nine days. The little one patiently suffered from brain fever for four weeks. The funeral services were conducted Sunday evening at Wards Chapel, by Rev. A. A. P. Neel, and the little from[sic] was laid to rest on the grassy hill nearby. The friends of the stricken parents extended sympathy and aid.

Born March 5, 1945, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Mildred (Garlitz) Tipton. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James W. Rae. Mrs. Rae was a homemaker and co-owner and operator of Rae’s Trucking. She is survived by two sons, Mike and Valerie Rae and Jr. Meyers, all of Frostburg; five daughters, Kathy and Dave Wilhelm, Kelly and Robert Robertson, Candy and Kevin Crowe, all of Frostburg, Terry and Dave Linthicum, Eagle Rock, Va., Vicky and John Leighty, Cresaptown; one brother, Billy and Sharon Garlitz, Frostburg; two sisters, Delma and Bob Winebrenner, Lonaconing, and Robin and Bob Seifert, Frostburg; 22 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren. Mr. Rae was also preceded in death by three grandchildren, Nancy Rae, William "Spanky" Rae and Patrick Lieghty. Mr. Rae was the owner/operator of Rae's Trucking. He was a 1959 graduate of Valley High School and served in the US Army/Military Police from 1959-1963. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Darlene F. FROSTBURG — Mrs. Anastasia Rafferty, 75, died at her home, 35 Mill Street, early yesterday. Born October 10, 1879, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Bridget (Chambers) Scally. Her husband, Charles Rafferty, died five years ago. Surviving are the following children: Mrs. Frank Komatz, Mrs. Herman Phillips, Charles Rafferty Jr., Bernard, Norbert and Lawrence O. Rafferty, all of Frostburg; Mrs. Frank Condry and Francis Rafferty, at home, John Rafferty, Borden Mine, and Mrs. James A. Twigg, Eckhart Mines. Also surviving are 34 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, a brother, James W. Scally, Frostburg, and a sister, Mrs. Marcella Rafferty, Frostburg. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary. A requiem funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 9:30 a. m. in St. Michael's Church by Rev. Regis Larkin. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers will be Frank Powers, George Tippen, Michael Burns, Robert Baughman, Earl Kreitzburg and H. J. Wood. The sodality will recite the rosary tomorrow at 8 p. m. in the Rafferty home.

Frostburg - Charles P. Rafferty, 67, of 347 West Main Street, died yesterday at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland. A native of Frostburg, he was a son of the late Charles T. and Anastasia (Scally) Rafferty. He was a retired Kelly-Springfield Tire Company employee and was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. Surviving are his widow, Nora Glotfelty Rafferty; four sons, Daniel L., Robert M., and John L. Rafferty, here; and Charles Edward Rafferty, Grantsville; two daughters, Mrs. Noreen Beachy, Upper Marlboro, and Mrs. Hilda J. Duncan, here; three sisters, Mrs. Anastasia Phillips, of Ohio, Mrs. Angela Condry and Mrs. Margaret Twigg, here; two brothers, Norbert and Bernard, here, and 13 grandchildren. FROSTBURG — Charles R. Rafferty, 70, died last night at his home, 35 Mill Street, after an illness of about five months. A native of Mashoppen, Pa., and a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Rafferty, he came to Frostburg with his parents 68 years ago. He was employed as a Railway Express truck driver about 40 years. He was a member of St. Michael's Church and the Holy Name Society. He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Anatasia Scally, and four daughters, Mrs. James Twigg, Eckhart; Mrs. Frank Komatz, Mrs. Frank Condry and Mrs. Herman Phillips, all of Frostburg; seven sons, Joseph, Grantsville; Charles, John, Bernard and Norbert Rafferty, all of this city, and Lawrence Omer and Francis G. Rafferty, at home. He was a brother of Mrs. Jane Carroll, Deer Park. The body will be at the residence. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Elizabeth Rafferty

The funeral of Mrs. Elizabeth Rafferty, wife of Patrick Rafferty, whose death was noted, took place this morning at nine o'clock from St. Michaels's Catholic church on Main street, of which the deceased lady was a devoted member during her life time.  Rev. S. J. Clark celebrated solemn requiem mass and conducted the burial services, speaking very touchingliy of the deceased.  At the conclusion of the burial services the cortege proceeded to St. Michael's cemetery on Mt. Pleasant street, where the remains were interred in the family burying plot midst a very large concourse of friends and relatives.  Mrs. Rafferty is survived by her husband, three sons and three daughters as follows: Mrs. Wm. Jack, Mrs. Peter F. Carroll and Miss Mary Rafferty and Messrs. John, Charley and Bernard Rafferty, all residing at this place.  Mrs. Rafferty was one of the city's best known and most charitable ladies and her many kind acts will be greatly missed and her place found hard to fill.

The body of Pfc. James W. Rafferty, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rafferty, Jr., 43 Bowery Street, arrived home from Korea Tuesday night. Pfc. Rafferty entered the Army January 29, 1949, and was attached to the Seventh Infantry Division, receiving his training, at Fort Benning, Georgia. He left Seattle, Washington, for overseas in July, 1950, and was not heard from until his parents were notified that he was missing in action on August 15, 1950. In January, 1951, his parents received word of his death, which resulted from wounds received on August 22, 1950. His parents received the Purple Heart decoration posthumously. Besides his parents, he is survived by four brothers and two sisters, Daniel, Robert, Edward, John, Lawrence, Noreen and Hilda Jane Rafferty. The funeral will be held tomorrow with a requiem mass 9 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church with burial to the parish, cemetery, where military rites will be given. The body is at the home.

RAFFERTY 06 Mar 1916 Frostburg- John Rafferty aged 46 years, a former resident, died Sunday (5 Mar) of a stroke of apoplexy at Pekin. He was an insurance agent for Mutual Life of Baltimore. He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Bridget Condon of Pekin and six children; Miss Elizabeth Rafferty; Miss Anna Rafferty; Miss Catherine Rafferty; Miss Rosaline Rafferty; Miss Laura Rafferty; and Miss Veronica Rafferty. Also, two brothers, Charles Condon(Rafferty) and Bernard Condon(Rafferty) and two sisters, Mrs P F Carroll and Miss Mary Condon(Rafferty). Services and burial are at St. Gabriel's church at Barton.

Frostburg - John E. Rafferty, Sr., 62, of Borden Mines, was dead on arrival yesterday at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland. Born at Frostburg, he was a son of the late Charles and Anastasia (Skelly) Rafferty. Mr. Rafferty was self -employed in the hauling business. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society, Frostburg Lodge 348, LOOM, and Potomac Valley Legion of the Moose. Surviving are his widow, Rita (Bland) Rafferty; a son John Rafferty, Jr., Borden Mines; three sisters, Mrs. Angela Condry, and Mrs. Margaret Twigg, both of Frostburg, and Mrs. Anastasia Phillips, Geneva, Ohio; three brothers Charles, Bernard and Norbert Rafferty, all of Frostburg, and a grandchild. Friends will be received at the Hafer - Sowers Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of the resurrection will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Michael's Church. Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park. A Christian wake service will be held at the funeral home tomorrow at 7:30 p.m.

RAFFERTY, Mrs. Laura Marie Lyons

Frostburg - The funeral of Mrs Michael Rafferty, whose death at a hospital in Baltimore was noted in a recent issue, occurred yesterday morning at 9 o'clock from St Michael's Catholic church of which Mrs Rafferty was a devoted member during her life time. Father S J Clark, assisted by Father Joseph Nolan celebrated mass and conducted the service paying a beautiful tribute to the departed lady's past life. At the conclusion of the beautiful Catholic ritual the funeral cortege proceeded to St Michael's Catholic cemetery on Mt Pleasant Street where the interment of the remains was made in the family burying plot. The deceased was about thirty-three years of age and leaves a husband and several small children to mourn the loss of a kind and loving mother and wife. Mrs. Rafferty's death is doubly sad, as she was only sick a short while, having been taken ill while attending church Sunday morning, from which she grew steadily worse until it was necessary to send her to the hospital. Mrs Rafferty was formerly Miss Lyons and is survived by her mother, Mrs John R Smith, one sister, Miss Mollie Lyons and the following brothers, Messrs William, Charlie, John and George Lyons all residing at this place. A large concourse of people attended the burial of the deceased here on Wednesday morning. The floral offering were among the most beautiful and numerous ever seen at a funeral in this city. Many friends and relatives of the deceased attended the funeral from out of town.

FROSTBURG - Lawrence Omar Rafferty, 47, of 35 Mill Street, died yesterday in Miners Hospital. Born in Frostburg, July 19, 1914, he was a son of the late Charles and Anastasia (Scally) Rafferty. Surviving are his widow, Margaret (Brode) Rafferty; two daughters, Mrs. Diana Clingersmith, Baltimore, and Miss Theresa Rafferty, of here; four brothers, Charles, John, Vernard, and Norbert Rafferty, all of here; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Condry, also of here; Mrs. Margaret Twigg, Eckhart; and Mrs. Anastasia Phillips, Geneva, Ohio; and two grandchildren. Mr. Rafferty was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, and the Holy Name Society. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of Frostburg FO Eagles. Friends will be received at the home of Mrs. Mary Condry, 35 Mill Street, Frostburg, after 7 p.m. today. The rosary will be recited at the residence tomorrow at 8 p. m. Requiem mass will be celebrated Saturday at 9:30 a. m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church by Rev. Francis E. Montgomery, pastor, and interment will be in the church cemetery. Farrady Post American Legion will conduct military graveside services.

Final Rites Held for Mrs. Mary Rafferty ~ Former Frostburg Business Woman Eulogized For Many Noble Traits.
Frostburg. May 26.—The funeral of Mrs. Mary Rafferty, aged 62, who died Sunday afternoon at the Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, was held Wednesday morning from Saint Michael's Catholic Church.  Requiem high Mass was offered for the repose of her soul by the rector, the Rev. Joseph P. Nolan, who also delivered the sermon and eulogy. Mrs, Rafferty was also affiliated with the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Court Ferdinand, No. 556, Catholic Daughters of America, and the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, and took active interest in these organizations. The Rev. Joseph A. Weber, assistant pastor, was present in the sanctuary during the funeral mass and the Junior Choir sang. Burial was in Saint Michael's Cemetery. The flower-bearers were Stanislaus Rafferty, Omer Rafferty, Norbert Rafferty, John Rafferty, Joseph Rafferty, Francis Rafferty, James, Jack and Robert Carter, Jr. (nephews of Mrs. Rafferty) and Edward Walsh. The pallbearers were William J. Daily, Cumberland; Patrick Walsh, Mount Savage; James Scalley. George Kreitzburg, Frederick Kemp and John A. Hiiler, of Frostburg. Among those here for the obsequies were, Terrence Smith and Mrs. Bettaie Woods, Binghamton, N. Y.; Mrs. John Borres, Pittsburgh, Pa.; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Fraley, Baltimore; Mrs. Jane Carroll, Washington, D. C.; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Clatterbuck, Deer Park, Md.; Mrs. B. V. Rafferty, Mrs. Bernard Winner, Miss Rosalie Rafferty, Russell Sullivan, Pekin, Md.; Mrs. John R. Smith, Mrs. William Wolfe, Miss Azelma Frantz, Mrs. William Lowe, Richard Cullen and Edward Gooding, of Cumberland; Mrs. Bryan Healey, Piedmont, W.Va.; Mrs. William Winters and Mrs. Isaac O'Rourke, Midland; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Carter and family, Mrs. Patrick Walsh, Harvey Walsh, James Walsh, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Walsh, Miss Sadie Kenney Miss Martha Reagan, Miss Ella Reagan and Miss Margaret Conroy, Mount Savage. Mrs. Rafferty conducted a grocery on West Main street, for a number of years, retiring from business in 1910. She entered the hospital on Monday, May 2, and underwent a major operation on the following Wednesday.  She had been progressing nicely following the operation. Complications later developed which resulted in her death.

FROSTBURG - Mrs. Mary Marcella Rafferty, 78, died yesterday at the home of her brother, James W. Scally, 36 Mill Street, with whom she resided. Born July 23, 1882, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Bridget (Chambers) Scally. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin. Besides her brother, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. John McDonald, Frostburg; three step-daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Fraley, Long Island, N.Y.; Mrs. Laverne Lavin, Cumberland, and Mrs. Leona Carter, Mt. Savage; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A requiem mass will he celebrated in St. Michael's Catholic Church Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. with Father Regis Larkin celebrant. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. The body is at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John McDonald, 28 Hill Street, where the rosary will be recited tomorrow at 8 p.m.

Michael Rafferty, aged about 42, died at his home on Mill street, on Thursday morning after several weeks illness from typhoid fever.  He is survived by his wife and several small children and a number of sisters and brothers all living in this place.

William J. Rafferty

Frostburg - William Joseph Rafferty, 41, of 69 Bowery Street, died yesterday at Miners Hospital.  He was born here, August 19, 1910, and was a son of Mrs. Anastatia (Scally) Rafferty and the late Charles Rafferty. He was an employe of the Amcelle plant of the Celanese Corporation, and was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and Holy Name Society.  Surviving other than his widow, Mrs. Maude L. (Ackard) Rafferty are two sons, Donald Rafferty, and Gerald Rafferty, two daughters, Delores Rafferty and Darlene Rafferty, all at home. Also surviving are six brothers, Charles Rafferty, of Frostburg; John Rafferty, Borden; Stanislaus, Norbert, Omer, and Francis Rafferty, all of Frostburg; four sisters, Mrs. Ellen Komatz, Mrs. Frank Condry, Mrs. Herman Phillips, all of Frostburg; and Mrs. Margaret Twigg, Eckhart. A requiem mass will be celebrated Thursday at 9:30 a. m. in St. Michael's Church with Rev. Francis E. Montgomery, as celebrant.  Interment will be in the parish cemetery.  The body is at the home of his mother, 35 Mill Street.

Raffle, Myles H. (Bud) -- Age 37 years, of 350 Coolspring St., died Tuesday, February 13, 1988, at home. He is survived by his wife, Marian Hager Raffle; the following children, Myles Clinton, Jeffrey Scott, Cheryl Annette, Patrice Janine, Donna Lyn, Micki all at home; two sisters, Mrs. Lloyd (Rose) Church of Akron, Ohio; Mrs. Albert (Mary Jane) Orrie of Brownsville; one brother, John Raffle of Hopwood. He was a member of the Uniontown City Police Department for the past fourteen years, the Fraternal Order of Police and the Coolspring Athletic Assn, and St. John's R.C. Church. He was also a veteran of the Korean War. Friends will be received in the Haky Funeral Home, 138 W. Fayette St. today from 3 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. and on Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m and until Friday at 1 p.m. the hour of service with Rt. Rev. Msgr. Andrew Schneider officiating. Interment in Sylvan Heights Cemetery. The Parish Rosary will be recited on Thursday at 8:30 p.m.
