Meyersdale, Jan. 14 - Joseph G. Stacer, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Stacer of this place, died suddenly Friday morning at Charleroi, where he had been living. Undertaker Joe F. Reich left here Friday afternoon for Charleroi and will accompany the remains here where the funeral will be held, but no arrangements have been made. Mr. Stacer was born and reared in Meyersdale where he has many friends who will be sorry to hear of his early and sudden demise. Had he lived until the 12th of next March, he would have been 36 years of age. He is survived by his widow and one son, about seven years old; also his parents and the following brothers and sisters: George and Ambrose, of Meyersdale; Francis, of Homestead; Mrs. Joseph Grabenstein and Miss Esther Stacer, of Cumberland; and the Misses Annie, Clara and Lucy Stacer, at home.

STACER, Mrs. Mary Ann Breig
MEYERSDALE, Aug. 28.—Mrs. Mary Ann Stacer, who celebrated her 92nd birthday on August 22, died at her home in High street Saturday afternoon, with all her children at her bedside. Mrs. Stacer, who was the oldest woman in Meyersdale and also the oldest member of SS Philip and James Catholic Church, was sadly afflicted, having lost her eyesight 24 years ago. For the past six years she had been confined to her room and the greater part of that time to her bed, but with all that, she was always patient and most cheerful with her sufferings. Mrs. Stacer was a daughter of the late Ambrose and Margaret Breig and was born in Elk Lick township. She was the widow of the late John Stacer, who was a veteran of the Civil War. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother and a kind friend to everyone. She was always ready and willing to assist those in sickness and in need in her early years, and no one hesitated to call on her when in trouble. She was the mother of 12 children of whom the following eight are living: George Stacer, Ambrose, Misses Annie, Esther and Lucy, at home; Mrs. Margaret Grabenstein of Cumberland, Md.; Francis Stacer, Homestead: and Miss Clara, a nurse in Pittsburgh. There are 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Martha Harley of Pittsburgh, and one brother, George Breig, of Vandergrift.

Lonaconing - Alexander H. Stafford, 63, of here, died yesterday in Sacred Heart Hospital. Born here, he was a son of Nettie (Saxton) and the late Thomas Stafford. Mr. Stafford was an employe of the Amcelle Plant of Celanese Fibers Company. He was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Westernport. Besides his mother, he is survived by his widow, Mrs. Florence (Jeffrey) Stafford; a daughter, Mrs. Shirley Ann Fischer, Low Point, Illinois; two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Preston, Barton; Mrs. Elizabeth Hollingsworth, Lakewood, Colorado; six brothers, Henry Stafford, Earl Stafford, and Harold Stafford, all of here; John Stafford and Walter Stafford, both of Barton; Thomas Stafford, Wayne, Michigan; and four grandchildren. The body is at the Eichhorn Funeral Home where friends will be received today from 7 to 9 and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Church of the Brethren of Westernport by Rev. Robert Strickley. Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park. The body will be taken to the church Saturday at noon.

LONACONING - Earl Smith Stafford, 85, of Detmold St., Lonaconing, died Monday, March 26, 2007, at WMHS- Braddock Campus, Cumberland. Born Jan. 31, 1922, in Lonaconing, he was the son of the late Thomas Thompson Stafford and Jeanette (Sexton) Stafford. He was preceded in death by one sister, Jennie Preston and six brothers, Alex, Henry, Thomas, Walter, Harold, and Robert Stafford. He was retired from Westvaco where he was the Lubrication Inspector and Repairman. He also worked for the Celanese in warp knitting. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for over 55 years and served in the Army during World War II as an Infantry Sergeant. He was a past Master and 58 year member of the Georges Creek Valley Lodge 161 AF & AM, masonry was his life, a life member of Alvin C. Neat Post 5280 V.F.W., Lonaconing, a life member of Victory Post 155 American Legion, Westernport, Past Patron of Martha Washington Chapter 10 Order of the Eastern Star. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Bradley Stafford, Lonaconing; one daughter, Jeanette Devlin, and husband, Daniel, of Ellicott City; two sons, Bradley Stafford, and wife, Kathy, of LaVale and Steven Stafford, and wife, Susan, of Westernport; grandchildren, Kristi and Ross Delovitch, of Silver Spring, Jill Devlin, of Blacksburg, Erin Devlin, of Ellicott City, Mindy, Melissa, and Megan Stafford, of LaVale, Matt and Stacia Stafford, of Cumberland, Jeremy Stafford and Charlene, of Westernport, and Kelsey Stafford, of Westernport; two great grandchildren, Cailya Stafford and William Delovitch; one sister, Elizabeth Hollings-worth, of Colorado; and many nieces and nephews. Since Earl didn't have many hobbies he enjoyed spending time with his many grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home P.A., Lonaconing, on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 from 4 to 8 p.m. The Georges Creek Valley Lodge 161 AF & AM will hold a memorial service on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted at the Funeral Home, Lonaconing, on Thursday, March 29, 2007 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Tom Morgan officiating. Interment will be held at Mountain View Cemetery, Moscow Mills.

George M. Stafford, a well known farmer, died at his home on Irons Mountain, in the county, this morning, aged 74. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Martha Stafford, and six sons, Ephriam, Cl. H., G. W. and J. W. Stafford, Wiliams Road, and J. B,. and A, C. Stafford, Irons Mountain. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Mt. Herman church.

LONACONING — Harold "Scotty" Burton Stafford Sr., 73, of Old Beechwood Road, S.W., Lonaconing, died Saturday, July 27, 2002, at the Special Care Unit, Memorial Hospital, Cumberland. Born Dec. 12, 1928, at Detmold, he was the son of the late Thomas Stafford and Nettie (Sexton) Stafford. He was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters. Scotty was retired from Westvaco with 42 years of service in the bleach room operation. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp., where he served his country in the Korean War. Scotty was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Lonaconing, and a 50 year member of the George’s Creek Valley Lodge 151 A.F.&A.M. He is survived by his wife, Imogene Elaine (Lancaster) Stafford; children, Jeanie Mollica and husband Carmel Jr., Altoona, Pa., Cynthia Folk and husband John, Frostburg, Linda Thomas and special friend, Dave, Barton, Harold Burton Stafford Jr. and wife Kami, Lonaconing, and Jennifer Smith and husband Eddie, Lonaconing; sister, Elizabeth Hollingsworth, Denver, Colo.; and brother, Earl Stafford, Lonaconing. He also has 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. LONACONING - Henry Orvis Stafford, 90, of 50 West Main St., Lonaconing, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland. Born in Lonaconing, on Nov. 16, 1909, he was the son of the late Thomas Stafford and Nettie (Sexton) Stafford. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Alex Stafford, Thomas Stafford, Walter Stafford and Robert Stafford; and one sister, Jennie Preston. Mr. Stafford was retired from the Celanese Fibers Corp. He was an employee for 42 years. He attended the First United Methodist Church, Lonaconing. He was a member of the Lonaconing Republican Club. Surviving are his wife, Eloise Marie (Davis) Stafford; two sons, Allen Stafford, Cumberland, and Henry Stafford and wife (a very special daughter-in-law) Martha Jane, Lonaconing; one daughter, Leona Stafford, Frostburg; two brothers, Earl Stafford and Harold Stafford, both of Lonaconing; one sister, Elizabeth Hollingsworth, Colorado; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Lonaconing, Aug 16 - Hugh Stafford, 72, son of the late Alexander and Margaret (McKinnen) Stafford, died this morning at his home in Detmold after an illness of two weeks. He became seriously ill two weeks ago. A former coal miner, Mr Stafford retired ten years ago. He was a veteran of the Spanish-American War and a member of the Presbyterian Church here. Surviving are his widow, Mrs Agnes (Cameron) Stafford; a son, Pvt Harry Stafford, Camp Lee, Va; two daughters, Mrs John Kroh, Westminster; Mrs Andrew Burt, Jr Lonaconing and two grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Stafford. Mrs. Stafford was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and Morning Star Pythian Sisters. Surviving are five sons, Henry Stafford, John Stafford, Earl Stafford, and Harold Stafford, all of here; Thomas Stafford, Wayne, Mich.; two daughters, Jennie Preston, Barton; Mrs. Elizabeth Hollingsworth, Denver, Colo.; two half-brothers, Oscar Guynn, Baltimore; Walter Guynn, Pittsburgh; a half-sister, Mrs. Mary Dickey, Morgantown; 31 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. A native of Lonaconing, he was a son of Mrs. Nettie (Sexton) Stafford and the late Thomas Stafford. John Edward Staggs, 67, of RD 3, Rawlings, died Saturday at Sacred Heart Hospital. Born in Headsville, W. Va., he was a son of the late John and Ida (Dawson) Staggs. His wife, Lorena Grace Staggs, preceded him in death. A retired Celanese Fibers Company employe, he was a member or Rawlings Methodist Church, Maple Shade Rod and Gun Club and JOUAM 106, Westernport, and an honorary member of Cresaptown Fire Company. Surviving are three sons, John W. Staggs, Baltimore; Robert R. and Edward H. Staggs, RD 3, Rawlings; three daughters, Mrs. Emma I. Vincent and Mrs. Mary G. Ward, both of RD 3, Rawlings and Mrs. Sarah J. Smith, Holloman Air Force Base, N. Mex.; a brother, William J. Staggs, Cresaptown; 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The body is at the Rogers Funeral Home, Keyser, where friends will be received after 7 p.m. today. A service will be conducted at Dawson Methodist Church Wednesday at 2 p.m. Rev. Richard C. Chambers will officiate and interment will be in Dawson Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church at noon Wednesday.

FROSTBURG — Roger Lee Staggs, 66, of Frostburg, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008 at the WMHS-Braddock Campus. Born Jan. 13, 1942 in Cumberland, he was the son of Carroll H. Staggs Sr. of Frostburg and the late Mary Fern (Tressler) Staggs. Roger graduated from Beall High School class of 1960. He entered the U.S. Army in 1960 at the age of 17 and was discharged September 1964. He attended Catherman’s Business School. Mr. Staggs retired from the State of Maryland as a tax assessor for Allegany County. He also completed residential and commercial appraisal courses to obtain his appraisal license. Roger was a member of the Frostburg United Methodist Church, the American Rifle Association and Farrady Post 24 American Legion, Frostburg. He is survived by two sons, Kenneth Staggs and wife Marsha of Frostburg and Aaron Staggs at home; twin daughters, Donna Bittner and husband Eric of Flintstone and Debbie Barton and husband Doug of Cumberland; two granddaughters, Shayna Staggs and Kayla Staggs, both of Frostburg; three grandsons, Eryc Bittner and Austin Bittner, both of Flintstone and Chris Barton of Cumberland; two brothers, Carroll Staggs Jr. and wife Waltraut of Westminster and David Staggs and friend Marlene of Frostburg; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Harry L. Burchell Jr. officiating. Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park. Military honors will be accorded at graveside by the Farrady Post 24 Honor Guard. Somerset - Albert R. Stahl, 77, of Somerset R. D. 5, died unexpectedly in Somerset Community hospital, after being stricken in his home. Stahl, a farmer, was an inventor of a number of devices which he had patented. The patents included a nonglare headlight lens, a pulverising harrow, and a hay baler. He was born in Somerset county on March 18, 1883, a son of Cyrus and Flora Weller Stahl.

Mrs. Anna M. Stahl, 82, died Wednesday at her home in Berlin, Somerset county. She was born in Connellsville on May 20, 1867, a daughter of the late Aaron and Hannah Huntley Robbins. Her husband, Peter Stahl, died September 8, 1946. Surviving children are Mrs. Florence Phillips, James, George, William and Mrs. Nelle Brant, of Berlin and Clarence of Pittsburgh. There are 22 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Abbie Bradshaw of Rapid City, S. D. The funeral service was held at 2:30 P. M. Saturday.

Connie S. Stahl, 58, Alexandria, Va., died Thursday, July 15, 2010, at Capitol Hospice, Arlington, Va. Born March 30, 1952, in Maryland, she was a daughter of Wanda (Evans) Stahl, Oakland, and the late Harley Stahl. Connie worked as a secretary for the federal government. In addition to her mother, she is survived by two brothers, Michael Stahl and wife Jodella, Albright, W.Va., and Dennis Stahl and wife Linda, Oakland; one sister, Priscilla Stahl, ockingport, Ohio; nieces Natalie Smith, Annette Snyder, Erica Mayfield, and Mandi Hetrick; nephew Nathan Stahl; and six great-nieces and nephews. Friends were received at David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Oakland. A service was conducted on Tuesday, July 20, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Oakland, with the Rev. Don Thomas officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

STAHL, Ellwood
SOMERSET, Nov. 17 — Ellwood Stahl, 18, son of Stewart and Edna Pritts Stahl of Somerset, R. D. 5, was killed instantly Tuesday when the bicycle on which he was riding was struck by an automobile driven by S. D. Conn of Boswell near the Stahl home on Route 210. A brother of the victim also was riding a bicycle nearby when the accident occurred. They were enroute to Somerset High School at the time. The boy is survived by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Grantsville, Dec. 10 -Mrs. Harriet Stahl, 81, widow of the late George Stahl, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. O.J. Glotfelty, after an illness of four weeks. She is survived by the following children: Henry L. Stahl, Louisville, Ky.; Dewey Stahl, Akron, O.; Harry C. Stahl, Stewart Stahl and Mrs. Glotfelty, all of Grantsville. Two step-children, Mrs. Lottie Guinn and Charles Stahl, of Wilmerding, Pa., also survive. Brothers and sisters surviving include Mrs. Melvin Ward, Mrs. Ellen McKenzie of Frostburg; Mrs. Ida Kenner, Westernport; Mrs. Eliza Butler, Grantsville; Simon Folk, Ridgeley, W.Va., and Edward Folk, Frostburg. Mrs. Stahl was a daughter of the late Susanna Shultz and Jonas Folk and lived most of her life in this vicinity. She was a member of the Lutheran church of Jennings. The body was removed to the home of her son, Stewart Stahl, at Casselman. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 pm at the Lutheran church in Jennings with the Rev. George Bowersox officiating. Interment will be in the Grantsville cemetery.

Mrs. Harriet Stahl, 81, widow of George Stahl, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. O. J. Glotfelty, after an illness of four weeks, due to infirmities of old age. She was married to George Stahl March 19, 1892. The following children survive: Henry L. Stahl, Louisville, Ky.; Dewey Stahl, Akron, Ohio; Harry C. Stahl, Stewart Stahl and Mrs. O. J. Glotfelty, Grantsville; also two step-children, Mrs. Lottie Guinn and Charles Stahl, of Wilmerding, Pa. Twenty-three grandchildren and the following sisters and brothers also survive: Mrs. Melvin Ward and Mrs. Ellen McKenzie, Frostburg; Mrs. Ida Kenner, Westernport; Mrs. Eliza Butler, Grantsville; Simon Folk, Ridgeley, W.Va., and Edward Folk, Frostburg. Mrs. Stahl was the daughter of the late Susanna Shultz and Jonas Folk. She was born near Grantsville, Md., and spent most of her life in this vicinity. She was a faithful member of the Lutheran Church at Jennings. The body was taken to the home of her son, Stewart Stahl, at Casselman, Md. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, in the Lutheran Church, Jennings. Rev. George Bowersox officiated. Interment was in the Grantsville Cemetery. The pallbearers were Harry C. Stahl, Henry L. Stahl, Stewart Stahl, Dewey Stahl, Charles Stahl and O. J. Glotfelty.

Born in Cumberland, she was a daughter of Mrs. Margaret (Sisk) Broadwater, Cross, and the late Melvin Broadwater. Besides her mother, she is survived by her husband, C. Lee Stahl; two daughters, Mrs. Amanda J. Bolyard, Tunnelton, and Miss Cindy S. Stahl, Bayard; three sons, Carlton L. Stahl Jr., Eglon AFB, Fla.; Allen L. and Kevin D. Stahl, Bayard; a brother, Melvin E. Broadwater, Cross; two sisters, Mrs. Doris Dawson, Fairfax, Va., and Mrs. Wilma J. Cosner, Bayard. Friends will be received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, today from 7 to 9 p.m. and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted there Friday with the Rev. William G. Rhodes officiating. Interment will be in Bayard Cemetery.

Oakland, Md., Dec. 9 - Howard Oliver Stahl, 55, died at his home near here today after an illness of several years. A native of Oakland, he was a son of the late Frederick and Mary (Arnold) Stahl. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Effie (King) Stahl; four sons, Keith and Harley Stahl, both of Oakland; Warden Stahl, Baltimore; and Harlin Stahl, Chicago; four daughters, Mrs. Josephine Lodd and Mrs. Maxine Lantz, both of Shepherdstown; Mrs. Wilma Artis, Whitefield, Md.; Miss Rosalie Stahl, Oakland; two brothers, Herbert Stahl, Albright W.Va., and Stanley Stahl, Chambersburg, Pa.; a sister, Mrs. Al Fulk, Oakland; and 11 grandchildren. Services will be conducted at the Red House Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. Monday. The Rev. Daniel Staid, pastore of Eglon Church of the Brethren, will officiate. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Karl N. Stahl, 54, of Somerset, passed on December 30, 2013 at home. Born December 18, 1959, he is the son of Norman and Geraldine (Brant) Stahl of Somerset. Karl is also survived by his daughters Kari Stahl and fiance Dustin DeLuca of Jennerstown and Kelley Stahl and significant other Matt Blough of Somerset; cousins Jeff and Deb Engleka, and Matt and Gina Hayman, all of Somerset, and numerous other extended family members. Karl loved to hunt and was an expert marksman, having won many shooting awards over the years. Friends will be received from 5-7 PM Friday at Miller Funeral Home and Crematory, Somerset, with a service to follow at 7 PM. Interment at Somerset County Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Somerset County Humane Society at PO Box 182 Somerset, PA 15501.

Meyersdale, Mar 3 –Norman Stahl, 78, retired businessman, died Wednesday morning in Hazel McGilvery Hospital after an illness of several months. He was born near here June 6, 1865, the son of the late Henry and Susanna Boger Stahl. He was twice married. His first wife was Eliza Gnagey and his second Annie Lichty. Both preceded him in death. Surviving are three sons, Elmer of Meyersdale, Carl of Johnstown and Henry of Holsopple, five grandchildren and these brothers and sisters. Edward of Akron, Ohio, Mrs. Preston Walker of Somerset, Mrs. Missouri Walker of Garrett RD, and Mrs. Fred Blough of Baltimore, Md. The funeral service will be held at 2:30 o’clock Saturday afternoon at the Church of the Brethren in charge of Rev. DeWitt L. Miller. Burial will be made in Union Cemetery.

Wanda Priscilla (Evans) Stahl, 82, Oakland, passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2011, at Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home. Born Feb. 24, 1929, in Davis, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Ray and Laura (Roth) Evans. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harley Stahl; one daughter, Connie Stahl; and one sister, Geraldine Kempher. Wanda had worked at Garrett County Memorial Hospital as a cook and was a member of the Ladies' Circle of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She is survived by two sons, Michael Stahl and wife Jodella, Albright, W.Va., and Dennis Stahl and wife Linda, Oakland; one daughter, Priscilla Stahl, Hockingport, Ohio; three sisters, Linda Cober, Ellerslie, Katherine Thomas, Rawlings, and Charlotte Hanna, Harrisonburg, N.C.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Friends were received at David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Oakland. A funeral service was conducted on Sunday, May 8, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Red House, with Rev. Don Thomas officiating. Interment was held in St. John's Cemetery.

Audley B. (Jake) Stahlman, 50, of Ellerslie, died yesterday at his home. Born in State Line, Pa., February 14, 1916, he was a son of Mrs. Bessie (Davis) Stahlman, Ellerslie, and the late Banks 0. Stahlman. He was a member of Ellerslie EUB Church, Funkstown Rod and Gun Club, and was a veteran of World War II. Mr. Stahlman worked 21 years at Celanese Fibers Company until 1954, after which he operated his own plumbing and heating business. Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, Mildred (Baker) Stahlman; two children, Glenn Stahlman, at home, and Mrs. Patti Stair, Hyndman RD 1: three brothers, James W. Stahlman, Buena Park, Calif.; Frank H. Stahlman, Ellerslie, and Curtis Stahlman, Hyndman RD 1; four sisters, Mrs. Geraldine Kelly, Springfield, Va.; Mrs. Margaret Carl, LaVale; Mrs. Annie Homer, Hyndman, and Mrs. Donna Shaffer, Hyndman RD 1, and five grandchildren. The body is at the Zeigler Funeral Home and will be taken to the residence where friends will be received after 7 p.m. today. Service Monday at Ellerslie EUB Church; interment, Porter Cemetery, Ellerslie, with military honors.

Banks 0. Stahlman, 71, of RD 1, Hyndman, died yesterday in Memorial Hospital. Born at Clarion, Pa., Mr. Stahlman was a son of the late Henry E. and Rachel Jane (Grabill) Stahlman. He was a retired employee of the Celanese Fibers Company, retiring in 1957, after 30 years of service. Mr. Stahlman also formerly operated a service station on the Ellerslie-Hyndman road. He was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical United Brethren Church, Ellerslie. Surviving are his widow, Bessie (Davis) Stahlman; four daughters, Mrs. Robert Kelly, Springfield, Va.; Mrs. David A. Horner, Hyndman; Mrs. Ronald D. Shaffer, RD 1, Hyndman; and Mrs. S. Frantz Carl, La Vale; four sons, A. B. Stahlman and Franklin H. Stahlman, both of Ellerslie; James W. Stahlman, Whittier, Calif.; and Curtis R. Stahlman, RD 1, Hyndman; two sisters, Mrs. George Lybarger, Ellerslie; and Mrs. George 0. Stroup; Cumberland; three brothers, Clyde E. Stahlman, Corriganville; and Pearl C. Stahlman, Hyndman; 23 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. The body is at the Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, where friends will be received today from 7 to 9 p.. m. and tomorrow from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p. m. ELLERSLIE — Mrs. Bessie D. Stahlman, 76, of here, died yesterday at Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Mt. Senaca, W. Va., the daughter of the late Jane Reed and Frank Davis. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church of Ellerslie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Banks O. Stahlman and is survived by four daughters: Mrs. Geraldine Kelley, Washington, D.C.; Mrs. Margaret Carl, LaVale; Mrs. Anneva Horner, Hyndman, and Mrs. Donna Lou Shaffer, Hyndman; three sons, James Stahlman, Bullhead City, Ariz.; Frank Stahlman, here; and Curtis Stahlman, Hyndman; 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Zeigler Funeral Home today from 7 to 9 and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow. Services will be conducted Friday in the funeral home at 2 p.m. by Rev. Howard Smith. Interment will be in Cooks Mills Methodist Chapel Cemetery.

Clarence E. Stahlman, 61, of Hyndman RD 1, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 1990, at his residence. He was born Oct. 31, 1928, in Ellerslie, Md., son of the late Clyde E. and Juanita (Clark) Stahlman. He was married for 28 years to the former Martha A. White. She survives along with six sons, Carter E. Stahlman of Glen Rock and Colin E., Roland E., Nolan E., Bud C. and Clarence E. Stahlman Jr., all at home; and two daughters, Judy A. Stahlman of Gettysburg and Mrs. Tracy L. Fuller of LaVale, Md. Also surviving are three grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Jacqueline M. Hillebrecht of Cumberland, Md. He was preceded in death by a brother. Mr. Stahlman was on service-connected disability from the U.S. Navy, in which he served for 16 years. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Following service in the Navy he was employed for 14 years at the Amcelle Plant of the Celanese Corp. of America. Funeral services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home with Pastor Roger D. Huffman officiating. Burial in Comps Cemetery with graveside military honors by the Hyndman VFW Oscar Jordan Post No. 7375 and the Fort Bedford Honor Guard. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Hyndman - Clyde E. Stahlman, 63, of Corriganville, died this morning in Memorial Hospital. A native of Marionville, Pa., he was a son of the late Henry and Rachel (Graybill) Stahlman. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Violet (Kirtchner) Stahlman; two sons, Clarence Stahlman, Hyndman, RD 1, and Francis Stahlman, with the USN in California; a daughter, Mrs. Jacqueline Hillebrecht; a step-daughter, Miss Evelyn Combs, Hazen Road, city; two foster daughters, Mrs. Betty Bennett, Corriganville, and Miss Martha Stahlman, Hyndman, RD 1; two brothers, Perl Stahlman, Hyndman, and William Stahlman, Fisher, Pa.; sister, Mrs. George Lybarger, Ellerslie, and 16 grandchildren. The body is at the Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman.

Dorsey W. Stahlman, 67, of Mt. Valley Apartments, Bedford, formerly of Hyndman, died Friday, Nov. 12, 1993, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Aspinwall. He was born March 2, 1926, near Ellerslie, Md., a son of the late William and Lula (Iman) Stahlman. He is survived by a sister, Eileen D. Schad of Hyndman, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Stahlman was a former logger and timberman in the Clarion County area. He served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II and in Korea during the Korean conflict. He was a member of the Bedford Senior Citizens. Funeral services: Monday, Nov. 15, at 11 a.m. in the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, with the Rev. Ruth S. Kershner officiating. Burial in the Everett Cemetery.

Ellerslie, Md., June 25 — Henry P. Stahlman, 76, died yesterday at his home in Stringtown, Pa., just north of here. Son of the late DeWalt and Mary Putter Stahlman, he was married on July 26, 1886, and ran a sawmill at Hyndman until last year when he moved to Stringtown. Surviving are his widow, Rachael Graybill Stahlman, and the following children: Clyde E., Bank, and Mrs. Virginia P. Lybarger, Ellerslie; William W. and Paul C., Hyndman; Mrs. Grace L. Stroup, Cumberland; a sister, Mrs. Maggie Fross, Pigeon, Pa., and 25 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The body will be brought to his daughter's home in Ellerslie and services will be held Friday, at the Evangelical church with burial in Cooksmill cemetery.

MaryAnn (Gentry) Stahlman, 24, of Cumberland, Md., died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 1997. She was born March 23, 1972, in Cumberland, a daughter of Ronald H. and Esther R. (Clites) Gentry of Cumberland. On May 6, 1996, she married Clarence E. Stahlman Jr., who survives along with three daughters: Misty Boston of Locust Grove, and Kayla and Tess Cable of Cumberland; a brother, Ronald Gentry Jr. of Wiley Ford, W.Va., and maternal grandparents Woodrow and Irene Clites of Hyndman, RD 1. Mrs. Stahlman was a massage therapist and a 1990 graduate of Fort Hill High School. Funeral service: 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, with Pastor Roger D. Hyndman, Pa., June 26 — Mrs. Rachel Jane Stahlman, 70, Fisher, Pa., died yesterday afternoon. She was the daughter of the late John and Lydia Graybill and was married to Henry E. Stahlman who died one year ago Tuesday. Surviving children are William W. Stahlman, Hyndman; Banks O. and Clyde D. Stahlman, Ellerslie; Perle Stahlman, Hyndman; Mrs. G. M. Stroup, Cumberland, and Mrs. G. W. Lybarger, Ellerslie.

David Staggs, a well known and well-to-do farmer living on East Knobley, near Ridgeville, died at an early hour yesterday morning, aged 65 years. The remains will be buried today at 2 o'clock, following funeral exercises by his pastor at the Duling church. He is survived by a wife and two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Leatherman and Mrs. Mary Roberts.

The burial of David Staggs, who died Tuesday, and was supposed to have been buried yesterday at 2 o'clock, at Duling church, had to be postponed for several hours on account of the grave diggers striking a large stone. It was after 5 o'clock when the burial took place.

Monday night, George Staggs, who lived three miles east of Knobley Mountain in this county, passed away at 80 years of age. The funeral took place Wednesday, conducted by Rev. George Burgess. Interment at the Fountain Church. He was one of the most generally respected citizens of his part of the county, frugal and honest. A number of years ago his wife died. He is survived by the following daughters: Mrs. Nannie Clark, McCoole; Mrs. James Tasker, and Mrs. H. Parrill, of Knobley; Mrs. Fred Fink, of Headsville; Mrs. George Miller, of Dawson; and Miss Jennie Staggs, of New Creek.

Beverly Kaye Stair, 6, daughter of Roland K. Stair, Hyndman, R. 1, and Mrs. Patricia (Luman) Stair Teal, Roy, Utah, died January 5 at Dee hospital, Ogden, Utah, of burns suffered at her home January 2, according to word received by her father. The child suffered serious burns when she tried to get a glass of water and a nearby gasoline stove ignited her clothing. Born in Hyndman June 21, 1939, Beverly was a pupil in the Arsenal Villa school, Roy. Besides her parents she is survived by a sister, Barbara Ann Stair, Roy; her stepfather, J. D. Teal, stationed with the Navy at Roy; the paternal grandfather, J. W. Stair, Hyndman, R. 1, and an uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Abram Swartz, Bedford. The body arrived at Zeigler's funeral home, Hyndman, Friday morning, January 11, where funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon by the Rev. Frank Herzel, pastor of the Lutheran church at Schellsburg. Interment was in Lybarger Lutheran cemetery, Madley.
