John W Kabrick, son of George and Belle Kabrick, was born in what is now Mineral County, W. Va., and died in the St Joseph's Hospital in Baltimore, Sun Jan 7, 1912, aged about 68 years. The funeral sermon was preached in the church at Ridgeville Tues by Rev A A T Neel and the body was buried in the Stone Chapel cemetery. the funeral arrangements were in charge of the P O S of A and Jr O U A M of Newcreek and the pall bearers were selected from those orders. Mr Kabrick's children all proceeded him to the spirit world. His wife, who survives, was Miss Sarah A Parrill, daughter of Judge Hugh Parrill, who for years was judge of the Mineral county court. Two of her brothers, James A and William Parrill, and two sisters, Mrs Robert Welch and Mrs William Rawlings, reside in this county. Mr Kabrick went to Baltimore for treatment on Christmas day and was operated upon Fri, Jan 5. The Sat before he left for Baltimore he was in this office talking of his condition, saying that he had decided to go to Baltimore on the next Mon for an operation and expressed doubt as to what the outcome would be. John Kabrick had a big heart and warm impulses, he was strong and loyal in his friendships, he was interested in the welfare of his friends, his community and his country and we were grieved when the sad news of his death reached us. Many, many of us will miss him. Peace to his ashes.

William H. Kabrick, son of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Kabrick, died at the home of his parents October 3rd 1911, of typhoid fever. Mr. Kabrick was born December 18, 1879. The funeral services, conducted by Rev. A. A. P. Neel, were held in the Ridgeville church Thursday at two o'clock P.M. and the body was buried in old Stone Chapel Cemetery. He was the last surviving child of his parents and they have the sympathy of their large circle of friends. He was a member of the Burlington Camp No. 11299 M.W. of A. and his brother members attended his funeral in a body. His membership carried with it an insurance policy for two thousand dollars.

Clarksburg, Jan 10 - William Kade, 47 years, committed suicide today at his home in this city by drinking a quantity of strychnine. He walked into his home, turned to wife and children and said "Goodbye," took the bottle from his pocket and drank the contents and died in a few minutes. He was general manager of the Patton Brick works and leaves a wife and nine children. He was thought to be temporarily insane.

KADY, Mrs. Mary Lou Hood (abridged)

Mrs. Mary Lou Kady, 77 of 115 E. Hampshire St., Piedmont, WV, died April 15 2013 at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser. Born in Piedmont April 13, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Charles P. and Mary E. (Harrison) Hood. She was also preceded in death by her husband Bernard F. Kady on February 21, 1988 and two brothers, William “Bill” Hood and Robert Scott Hood. Mrs. Kady was a 1954 graduate of Piedmont High School. She was formerly employed as a telephone operator for the C&P Telephone Company, Piedmont; the Piedmont Herald and Jake’s Market, Westernport, Md., She was also a Respite Provider for her granddaughter, Alana Coleman. She was protestant by faith.  She is survived by two sons, Scott F. Kady, Piedmont and William “Bill” Kady and wife, Kay, Piedmont; two daughters, Patti S. Coleman and husband, Paul and Cindy L. Miller and husband, James “Peanut,” both of Piedmont; one brother, C. Edward Hood, Huntington, WV; two sisters, Flora May Cook and husband, Paul, Dowling Park, Fla. and Nancy Moore and husband, Charles, Leesburg, Fla; 10 grandchildern, Amber Coleman, Morgantown and Amy, Alyson and Alana Coleman, Piedmont; Marc Coleman and Kelly Bennett, both of Piedmont; Nikki Diehl, Ashburn, Va; Nanny Lucas South Carolina ; Josh Miller, Galipolis, Ohio; Josiah Miller, Piedmont and Jared Miller, Piedmont; 25 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Keyser, W. Va., Feb. 8.—Mrs. Rose Ellen Kayday[sic], 77, widow of Timothy Kayday, died last night at the home of her daughter. Mrs. Earl Moran, Davis Street. A daughter of the late Mr and Mrs James Riley, she was a native of Terra Alta and lived in this place since 1909. She was a member of the Catholic Church of the Assumption and of the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin. Other survivors include one daughter. Funeral services for Mrs. Rose Ellen Kady, who died Sunday night, were held yesterday morning from the Church of the Assumption with High Requiem Mass by the Rev. P. J. Morahan and the sermon by the Rev. John H. Veger. The Rev. J. M. Kilgannon, Ridgeley, was in the Sanctuary. Mrs. Richard Troy sang: "Ave Marie" and "Raise Me Jesus to Thy Bosom." "Mrs. Sarah Agnes Kady, 76, widow of Martin Kady, 123 South Smallwood Street, died yesterday afternoon in Allegany Hospital. A native of Fairmont, W. Va., Mrs. Kady was a daughter of the late John S. and Mary (Rogers) Hershberger.  She held membership in St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers.  Her husband died December 21, 1933.  Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Otho L. Wymer, with whom she resided; Mrs. Mary Murphy, McKees Rock, Pa., and Mrs. Clarence W. Friend, Keyser, W. Va.; two brothers, James Hershberger, Parsons. W. Va., and Harry Hershberger, Blaine, W. Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Mollie Condry, this city, and Mrs. Nellie Bean, Frostburg; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.  The body is at the Wymer residence.  A requiem mass will be celebrated Thursday at 9 a.m. in St. Patrick's church and burial will take place in Philos Cemetery, Westernport."

Washlngton Street Overhead Bridge Has Another Victim ~ BODY, TERRIBLY MANGLED. Mr. Kady Was Comparatively a New Man on the B. & O.—He Leaves a Widow and Six Small Children in Ridgeley, W. Va.
Timothy Kady, a Baltimore and Ohio brakeman, while on duty on the third section of the fast freight, No. 97, Conductor Fallen in charge, was struck by tho overhead Washington street bridge yesterday afternoon about 2 o'clock and was thrown down between the cars and instantly killed. His head was crushed in, a shapeless mass, the skull being ground into small fragments. Both arms were torn from the shoulder sockets and both feet cut off at the ankles. The remains were gathered up and taken to the Butler morgue, where they were prepared for burial. Mr. Kady was thirty-five years of age and resides on Potomac ave. in Ridgeley, W. Va.  He had been with the Baltimore & Ohio a short period of time and was formerly a freight conductor on the West Virginia Central and Pittsburg railway. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen, and was a native of Terra Alta, W. Va., where the funeral will probably occur tomorrow morning. A wife, four sons and two daughters survive him, the oldest child being twelve years of age. Coroner O'Niell, in an investigation of the exact cause of Mr. Kady's death, examined five witnesses, Messrs J. R. Whitman, .T. S. Wharting, E. J. Fallen, W. C. Gordon and Philip Miller. All except Mr. Miller were trainmen. Mr. Miller is the B. & O. watchman at Green street crossing. Mr. Whitman, the fireman, was the only one who knew exactly how the accident happened. He testified that Mr.Kady was standing upon the second car from the engine when he came against the overhead Washington street bridge and was knocked between the cars. The coroner deemed an inquest unnecessary and the body was removed to the home of the deceased at Ridgeley this afternoon. The funeral will take place Wednesday morning.

Mrs. John Kady Dies Suddenly-
Keyser, W. Va., Oct. 1-Mrs. John Kady died suddenly at 3:30 o’clock this morning at her home following a brief illness from quinzy. Mrs. Kady, who was Miss Veena Beeham, of Grafton, W. Va., is survived by her husband and infant child. Mr. and Mrs. Kady had been married but little over two years. The body of Mrs. Kady will be taken to Grafton on Thursday for burial. Brief services will probably be held here.

Mr Charles Kaefer, one of the oldest residents of this county, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Geo. Walters, at Ocean on Wednesday. He is survived by three sons and three daughters as follows: Messrs. Chas. C. Kaefer, of Woodland; August Kaefer of Ocean, and Henry Kaefer, of Midland and Mrs. John Aspinwall, of Frostburg; and Mrs George Walters, of Ocean, and Miss Dottie Kaefer, who makes her home with Mrs. Aspinwall. The funeral will take place Friday afternoon from the residence of Mrs. Geo. Walters. Interment will be made in Allegany cemetery in this place.

Frostburg, Md., Feb. 22.—The body of Henry F. Kaefer, a former resident of the Midland section, who died Thursday at Turtle Creek, Pa., where he moved with his family some years ago, will be brought here tomorrow at 1 p. m. and interred in Allegany cemetery at 2:30 p. m. following services at 2 p. m. at the funeral chapel of the Frostburg Furniture and Undertaking Company.  The Rev. Joseph W. Young, pastor of Grace Methodist Episcopal Church, Midland, will conduct the service.  Mr. Kaefer, a former miner of the Georges Creek field, had lived at Ocean. He moved to Turtle Creek about 20 years ago. He was an active member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Surviving children are a daughter, Dinna, at home; Oscar, Oakland. Pa.; Irvln, in South Carolina;  Lester, Chester, Pa.; and Wiliam, Benjamin. George and Ulysses, Turtle Creek. He was a brother of Mrs. Mary Aspinall, Cumberland, and Mrs. Carrie Walters, National, Md.

OAKLAND - Albert W. Kahl, 82, of 619 East Oak Street, died Tuesday at Garrett County Memorial Hospital. Born here on August 30, 1894, he was a son of the late Henry W. and Mary E. (Schmidt) Kahl. He was a retired cabinetmaker, and was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, here, and a 50-year member of Garrett Lodge 113, Knights of Pythias. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Martha M. (Glotfelty ) Kahl; four daughters, Mrs. Geraldine Humberson and Miss Ruth E. Kahl, both of Baltimore; Mrs. Mary Lou Paxon, Florida; and Mrs. Esther Perrine, California; three sons, A. William Kahl, California; Randall Kah! and George Kahl, both of Baltimore; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Yutzy and Mrs. Jane Peterson, both of Cumberland. Oakland, Md., Feb. 13 - Henry William Kahl, 73, who operated a planing and lumber mill here for thirty years and was one of the last of the old-time expert cabinetmakers, died yesterday. He had been ill a year and last Friday he fell and fractured his jaw. A native of Accident, a son of the late Henry Kahl, he came to Oakland fifty-four years ago. Surviving are seven children, Walter L. Kahl, Pittsburgh; Albert W. and Karl Kahl, Oakland; Edward P. Kahl, Mt. Lake Park; Miss Margaret Kahl, Cumberland; Herman L. Kahl, Dayton, O.; Miss Mary Jane Kahl, Washington, D. C.; seven brothers and sisters, George Kahl, Backus, Minn.; Lewis Kahl, Accident; Mrs. George Georg, Accident; Valentine Kahl, Hazelton, W. ACCIDENT - Mrs. Mary L. Kahl, 86, died Saturday in Memorial Hospital, Cumberland. Born in Friendsville, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Rebecca (Jenkins) Friend. Her husband, Louis H. Kahl preceded her in death. Mrs. Kahl is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Huntsinger, Johnstown, Pa.; Mrs. Anna Brockey, Flintsone, and Mrs. Nora Kiffner, Cumberland; a son, Raymond Kahl, of here; three brothers, a sister, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.   She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Accident, where services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. Rev. Bruce Barth will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery. The body is at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, where friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Pallbearers will be Edward Hunsinger, Earl Kahl, James Kiffner, Allen Baber, Chrissie Brockey and Richard Minor.

ACCIDENT - Peter James Kahl, 86, died Friday at his home here. Born in Accident, a son of the late Valentine and Emma (Hardin) Kahl, he was the oldest resident of the community. A former member of the community bands, he held membership in English Lutheran Church. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Ada (Wiley) Kahl; three sons, James Kahl, Friendsville; Michael Kahl, Accident, and Randall Kahl, Mt. Lake Park; three daughters, Mrs. Pearl VanSickle, Friendsville; Miss Betty Kahl, at home, and Mrs. Nola Jones, Baltimore, and six grandchildren. The body is at the residence where services will be conducted tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. at English Lutheran Church by Rev. William Carlson and Rev. Ross Speicher. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

KAHL, Valentine
 
Valentine Kahl, one of the pioneer settlers of Garrett county, died at his home at Accident Sunday last, aged about 90 years. The deceased was among the first settlers in that vicinity, where he had lived through his successful and useful life. He came to the locality in the days when they had to go to Cumberland and Hagerstown for a doctor, when a tree was cut down and a block sawed off from the log to make wheels for the cart used on the farm, when they had to go many miles into Pennsylvania to buy a plowpoint. He is survived by his widow, three sons and one daughter. One of the sons, John, resides at Johnstown, Pa. The deceased was born in Germany. The funeral services were held Tuesday and interment was in the German Lutheran cemetery.

KALAL, Mrs. Carrie McKenzie

Mrs Carrie Kalal, 38 years old, wife of the late Joseph Kalal, died last night at the Haystack Sanitarium from tuberculosis. Her husband died at the same institution October 29, 1915. Her body was removed to the Stein Morgue where it was prepared for burial and taken to the home of her sister, Mrs John Sedars, Mapleside, this morning. Interment will be made beside her husband in St Patrick's cemetery. The deceased is survived by her mother, Mrs Mary McKenzie of LaVale, one brother, J A McKenzie, of Cumberland and the following sisters: Mrs John Sedars, Mrs Joseph Reitmeir, Mrs James Leasure and Mrs Leonard Grabenstein. She is also survived by three children, as follows: Michael Kalal, Misses Mary and Josephine Kalal, living with their aunt, Mrs John Sedars at Mapleside. Funeral will take place from St Mary's church Monday morning at 9 o'clock.

HEROINE BADLY BURNED ~ Miss Kalb Seized Blazing Liquid From Sister.
While trying to hurl into the yard a pan of burning turpentine, which she had snatched from her younger sister, Miss Mary Kalb, 21 years old, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Kalb, 817 Second street, Canton, was burned on the body yesterday afternoon. Miss Kalb's clothing was almost totally destroyed and her arms were injured. Miss Kalb was sewing when her younger sister attempted to mix a can of paint with turpentine. The work was near a stove, and with a sudden flare the liquid was ablaze. Jumping up from her work, Mss Kalb grasped the blazing pan, and, carrying it to the door, cast it into the yard. Her clothing caught fire, and before the blaze was extinguished her entire body was burned. The Canton district ambulance was summoned and she was immediately brought to St. Joseph's Hospital, where her condition is regarded as serious.

MISS KALB DIES FROM BURNS ~ Young Woman Had Rescued Younger Sister From Injury.
Miss Mary Kalb, 21 years old, who was burned Saturday afternoon while casting a pan of burning turpentine into the rear yard, and was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital, died there at 7 o'clock yesterday morning. Miss Kalb suffered intense agony through the night. The young woman snatched the pan from her younger sister, who, in an attempt to mix the liquid with paint, put both on the stove, allowing the turpentine to flare up in a blaze. Miss Kalb, who was sitting at a sewing-machine, leaped up and, graspig the pan, hurled it from the door. In a moment she was badly burned.

LEESBURG, Va. — Charles “Charlie” L. Kalbaugh Jr., 64, of Leesburg, Va., passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2014, at his residence following a courageous battle with cancer. Born on Oct. 26, 1949, in Keyser, W.Va., he was the son of the late Charles Lee Kalbaugh, the late Genevieve Yvonne Hamilton and the late Marshall Paul Broadwater. Charlie graduated from Bruce High School in 1967. He was a United States Army Veteran and retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 2005 after 37 years of service. Charlie also served as Commander of The American Legion Post 293 in Purcellville, Va. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Patricia Kalbaugh; children, Tracy Gallagher and her husband, Brian of Leesburg, Va., Kevin Kalbaugh and his wife, Olivia of Leesburg, Va., and Eric Kalbaugh of Leesburg, Va.; grandchildren, Gaby, Adriana, Brady, Sophia and Brooke. In addition, he is survived by his sisters, Sandy Shay and her husband, Paul of Severn, Karen Kelly and her husband, Paul of Westernport, and brother Marshall Broadwater of Westernport. He also had many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, at the Boal Funeral Home in Westernport. Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport, with military honors accorded at graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to The American Legion Post 293 in Purcellville, Va., or the Fisher House Foundation.

"Five Men Killed in Auto Accident-
Funeral services were held yesterday for five young men of the community who were killed early Sunday morning in an automobile accident on the McMullen highway, route 220, about ten miles this side of Cumberland. Fatally injured in the accident were Timothy Gilmore, 32, Westernport, former state trooper, who was driving the car, Charles Lee Kalbaugh, 28, Piedmont, and his brother, Earl Glenn Kalbaugh, Westernport, Richard Daniel Moran, 25, Westernport, owner of the car, Richard Allen Michael, 25, Westernport. Services for Richard Allen Michael were conducted yesterday morning at 11 o'clock at the Evangelical United Brethren Church by the Rev. Lee Sheaffer, pastor. Joint rites for Charles Lee and Earl Glenn Kalbaugh, were held at the Boal funeral home yesterday at 1:30 o'clock with the Rev. George Davison, rector of St. James Episcopal church, Westernport, and the Rev. G. Stanley Schwind, former rector, now at St. George's church, Mt. Savage. Services for Timothy Gilmore were conducted at his residence, 122 Johnson street, Westernport, at three o'clock by the Rev. Lee Scheaffer, pastor of the EUB church. Rites for Richard D. Moran were held at the home of his mother, Mrs. Sarah Moran, 215 Hammond street, at 4:30 o'clock with the Rev. Clyde W. Ash, pastor at Trinity Methodist Church, officiating.

Accord Military Honors-
Full military honors were accorded for Michael, the Kalbaughs, and Gilmore, by Victory Post 155, American Legion, assisted by Barton Post 189 and Kelly-Mansfield Post 52 of Piedmont. Potomac Fire Company conducted rites at the graves at Philos cemetery for Charles Kalbaugh, Michael, Gilmore and Moran. Members of Potomac Fire Company and Tri-Towns Fire Company in uniform attended all five funerals.

Timothy Gilmore-A native of Thomas, Timothy Gilmore was a son of Mrs. Grace Shaffer Gilmore, Oakland and the late Timothy M. Gilmore. He spent most of his earlier youth in Crellin and and was a graduate of Oakland high school. During World War II, he served as a tank driver with the Army in Africa and Italy and was wounded in the chest. After the war, he served six years with the Maryland State Police, resigning last February to become a guard at the Allegany Ballistics lab at Pinto. He was a member of Victory Post, American Legion, and Potomac Fire Company. Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Guy Gilmore, 122 Johnson Street, Westernport; three brothers, Harold Gilmore, Webster Springs, W. Va.; John W. Gilmore, Layfayette, Indiana, and Glenn Gilmore, Terra Alta and two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Kershetaky, Delano, Pa., and Mrs. Hazel Parsons, Hambleton, W. Va.
 
Richard D. Moran, son of Mrs. Sarah Moran and the late Edward S. Moran, former mayor of Westernport, was a native of the town and a graduate of Bruce high school. He was a manager of the Moran Trucking Company in which he was associated with his brothers. He was a member of Trinity Methodist Church and Potomac Fire company. Besides his mother, he leaves four brothers, Charles, James, Harold and Donald, all of Westernport.
 
Richard A. Michael, son of Mrs. Annie Virginia Kline Michael and the late Bayard Michael, is also a native of Westernport and attended Bruce high school. During World War II he served two years aboard an aircraft carrier in the Pacific theatre. A member and sergeant-at-arms of Potomac Fire company, he was employed as a steward at the Potomac club. Besides his mother, he leaves four brothers, Marshall, Clyde, Thomas and Paul, all of Westernport, and two sisters, Mrs. Charles Floto, Cumberland, and Mrs. Oliver Long, Arlington, Va.

Police Version of Accident-The accident occurred about 4:52 Sunday morning. The time was established by a broken watch on the wrist of Richard Moran. Trooper First Class, A. M. Sploch, of the Maryland State Police, who investigated, said that Gilmore, driving Moran's 1951 hardtop convertible, had just rounded a bend and apparently was confused by the headlights of another vehicle parked along Gilmore's side of the road. Apparently thinking the recently relocated road lay to the right of the headlights, Gilmore swerved off the road onto a gravel shoulder. By the time he realized his mistake, it was too late to stop. The car skidded several hundred feet, careened back to the road, and smashed against the front of the parked car. Four of the victims were thrown from the car with only Earl Kalbaugh and Richard Michael still in the back seat. Sploch said all of the dead except Charles Kalbaugh died instantly. Witnesses said Kalbaugh called for help then crawled under a fence at the George M. Barton farm and died of internal injuries. Dr. H. V. Deming, deputy county medical examiner, said the others died of skull fractures, internal injuries and neck fractures. James. F. Thompson, the sixth occupant, was thrown from the vehicle and later was moved to Sacred Heart hospital, Cumberland, where he is recovering from his injuries.

Occupant of Parked Car Hurt.

Miss Joreetta Proudfoot, 21, of Rowlesburg, the only occupant of the parked car, sustained severe lacerations of the face and eyes when her head was thrown through the windshield by the impact. She told police she had been drowsy and thought she was dreaming when she saw the other car careening wildly towards her. Lewis H. Allwine, 24, of Highland, N. J., operator of the parked car, stated that he and his brother, Ernest, had pulled off to the left side of the road when they were flagged by Wilbur Fresh, a stranded motorist, of Akron, O., who had developed engine trouble. Gilmore's wife, Mrs. Betty Guy Gilmore, arrived at the scene of the accident about two hours later, unaware of her husband's death. Police said she was anxious over her husband's failure to return home and she stopped at the scene as officers were preparing to leave."

WESTERNPORT, MD - Harry D. 'Dee" Kalbaugh, 78, beloved husband, father and grandfather of Maryland Avenue, Westernport, Md, died on Sunday, February 4, 2007 at Moran Manor Nursing Home. Born on August 29, 1928 in Westernport, MD, he was a son of the late Harry T. Kalbaugh and Cecelia (Howell) Kalbaugh. Mr. Kalbaugh was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Westernport, a U.S. Army Veteran, serving with the Military Police in Japan, and was a member of Kelly-Mansfield Post #52, American Legion in Piedmont, WV. He retired in 1991 from Westvaco as a supervisor in the Power and Recovery Department with 35 years of service. Prior to Westvaco, he was employed by the B&O Railroad for 8 years. He was a former coach with the Tri-Towns Little League. Harry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Frances A. (Grimes) Kalbaugh, one son, Harry 'Dee" Kalbaugh, Jr.; two daughters, Karen Morris and husband Rick of Falston, MD and Shelia Shapiro and husband Allen of Grantsville, MD. He is also survived by a brother Ed Kalbaugh of Brownsville, PA and a sister, Elaine Joy Hull of Mamaroneck, NY and seven grandchildren, Matt, Katherine and Kevin Kalbaugh, Robin and Dylan Morris and Jason and Stephanie Shapiro. Friends will be received at the Fredlock Funeral Home in Piedmont on Thursday, February 8, 2007 from 5 to 8 p.m. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter's Catholic Church on Friday, February 9, 2007 at 10 a.m. with Father James Hannon as celebrant. Interment will be in Philos Cemetery. Military graveside honors will be accorded by local area veteran organizations. Pallbearers will be the grandchildren and son-in-law. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Moran Manor and Dr. Tan for the care extended to 'Dee" during his stay. McCOOLE — J. Edgar Kalbaugh, 70, of 41 Llewellyn Street, died yesterday at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, where ,he was a patient three days. A native of Westernport, he was a son of the late James and Laura (McAtte) Kalbaugh. He was a retired truck driver. Besides his wife, Helen (Harbaugh) Kalbaugh, he is survived by a daughter, Tamra Jean Kalbaugh, at home; a brother. EarL Kalbaugh, Westernport and a sister, Mrs. Blanche Sliger, also of Westernport. The body is at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, where from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 friends will be received today p.m. A service will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Richard Chambers,  pastor of the Dawson Methodist Church, will officiate, and interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport.

Victor Edward Kalbaugh, 80, of 201 Baughman St., Westernport, died  Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser, W.Va. Born July 15, 1921, in Luke, he was the son of the late Victor Shaw and Bertha Maude (Poland) Kalbaugh. Mr. Kalbaugh was a United States Army Air Corps Veteran, having served during World War II. He was retired from Westvaco Corp., having worked in personnel. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Piedmont, W.Va., where he was a member of Men's Bible Class and a longtime member of the church choir. Mr. Kalbaugh was also a member of Victory Post #155 American Legion, Westernport. Surviving is his wife, Amy Regina (O'Neill) Kalbaugh; three sons, David Kalbaugh and wife Angie of Columbia, Douglass Kalbaugh of Keyser, W.Va., Michael W. Kalbaugh of Ray of Hope, Cumberland; one daughter, Helen Louise Kalbaugh of Alexandria, Va.; three sisters, Hazel Miller of Odenton, Helen Biggs of Burtonsville, and Dorothy Biggs of Westernport; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. At Mr. Kalbaugh's request, his body was cremated. Memorial services will be conducted at the Boal Funeral Home Chapel,  Westernport on Monday at 1:30 p.m., with Rev. Elizabeth Allen-Villinger officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. Monday until the service. Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport, where full military honors will be accorded at graveside. Frostburg, Jan. 19 — Mrs. Elizabeth (Knepp) Kallmyer, 72, wife of Elmer L. Kallmyer, 41 Linden street, died today at Miners Hospital, where she had been a patient for 10 days. She was a native of Deal, Pa., but resided here for 42 years and was active in St. Paul's Lutheran Church work. The body will remain at Hafer's Funeral Home. Surviving, besides her husband, are a son, Capt. Louis K. Kallmyer, Louisville; a sister, Mrs. Percy Shaffer, Wellersburg, Pa., and a brother, Louis Knepp, Deal.

Mrs. Laura S. Kallmyer, 65, of 500 Arnett Terrace, died yesterday in Cumberland Nursing Home where she had been a patient three years. Born in Clearville, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Charles and Jane (Shaw) Street. She was a member of the Centre Street United Methodist Church. Preceded in death by her husband, Victor Kallmyer, she is survived by a daughter, Onida Kallmyer, Baltimore; a son, John V. Kallmyer, Baltimore; a brother, Scott R. Street, city; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild. The body is at the Kight Funeral Home where friends will be received today and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Frostburg, Feb. 19 - William H. Kallmyer, 72, Mechanic street, died last night at Miners' Hospital where he had been a patient since Tuesday. Mr. Kallmyer, a retired saddler, who had been employed by the Consolidation Coal Company for many years, had been in failing health for about two years. Surviving are four children, Mrs. John Smith, Hagerstown; Mrs. Albert Snyder, Turtle Creek, Pa., and Mrs. John Twigg and William J. Kallmyer, La Vale. He had six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A son of the late August and Eliza Kallmyer, he was a brother of Mrs. Cinderella Parker, Swissvale; Mrs. Robert Keirs, Turtle Creek, Pa.; Victor C. Kallmyer, Cumberland, and Mrs. Valentine Sides and Elmer Kallmyer, this city. He was a member of Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church. Mr. Kallmyer was born in Clarysville but had resided in Frostburg for more than 50 years.

FROSTBURG - Mrs Elizabeth Kamauf, 42, wife of Raymond P. Kamauf, died last night at her Home in Shaft following an extended illness. A daughter of Henry A. and Rhoda (Yeider) Klosterman, Eckhart, she held membership in St. Michael's Catholic Church and the Shaft Homemakers Club. Surviving, besides her husband and parents, are a son, Raymond Kamauf, Jr., at: home; two bothers, Thomas J. Klosterman, Eckhart, and Henry Klosterman, Pittsburgh; and six sisters, Mrs. James Beechie and Mrs. Richard Duncan, both of Eckhart, and Mrs. Royston Coale, Mrs. Junior McKenzie, Mrs. Wallace Wagner and Miss Donna J. Klosterman, all of Baltimore. The body is at the Hafer Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p. m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p. m.tomorrow. Adam Kammauf, 67, died at 10:20 last night at his home in Cresaptown. Besides his widow, Annie Kammauf, Mr. Kammauf who was widely known in the Cresaptown section as a a former cafe proprietor, and later as a cobbler, is survived by three sons, J. William and John F. Kammauf, at home, and Edward Karnmauf, Pittsburgh, and by one daughter, Mrs. Christine Byrnes[sic], Allegany Grove. Funeral services will probably be held Monday morning from St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Cresaptown, with burial in the church cemetery.

GRANTSVILLE - Walter L. Kamp, 43, died yesterday at St. Margaret's Memorial Hospital, Pittsburgh, where he had been a patient several days. Born in Salisbury, Pa., he was a son of Austin and Thelma (Warnick) Kamp. He was manager of the general tire shop at Casselman Motors, and a member of the United Church of Christ, where he was a trustee, a World War II veteran, a member of the Casselman Valley Sportsmen's Club, American Legion Post 214, and Woodmen of the World Camp 41. Also surviving are his widow, Mary Resh Kamp; two sons, Eddie and Ronnie Kamp, both at home; a daughter, Connie Kamp, at home; two brothers, Otis and Donald Kamp, both of Lonaconing; two sisters, Mrs. Betty Spence, Meyersdale, Pa.; Mrs. Shirley Bender, Grantsville. The body is at the Newman Funeral Home where friends will be received today from 7 to 9 p.m. and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at the United Church of Christ by Rev. Mt Savage, Md., Jan. 3—Harry J Kane, 67, formerly of Mount Savage died In a hospital in Washington yesterday afternoon following brief illness of pneumonia.  He was a son of the late Michael and Sally Kane.  Mr. Kane was a machinist at the Navy Yard, Washington. He was a former member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.  Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary (McMahon) Kane, two sons and two daughters; a brother, John P. Kane. Washington, and a sister, Mrs. Francis Joseph Miller, Mount Savage.

Services for Mrs. Margaret E. Kane, 69, who was fatally injured when she was struck by a car yesterday in front of her home, 407 Fifth Street, will be conducted Monday at 11 a. m. at the George Funeral Home. Rev. Charles W. Bogan, pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church, will officiate, and interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Mrs. Kane was born March 18, 1895 in Wellersburg, Pa., a daughter of the late John A. and Clara (Kennell) Emerick. Her husband, Charles R. Kane, preceded her in death. Surviving are four brothers, Walter, Leroy and Edward Emerick, all of Mt. Savage; and Clarence Emerick, Fort Wayne, Ind.; and four sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Robertson, Mt. Savage; Mrs. Cora Willison, Baltimore; Mrs. Jesse Moore and Mrs. Mary Carder, both of Cumberland. The body is at the George Funeral Home.

Word has been received here of the death of Mrs. Molly McMahon Kane, wife of the late Harry Kane, in Washington, yesterday. Mrs. Kane was the daughter of the late Phillip and Mary Ann Dillon McMahon, Midland. She has resided in Washington the greater part of her life. Mrs. Kane is survived by the following children: Harry Kane, Jr. and A. Phillip Kane, both attorneys in Washington; Mrs. Joseph McCabe, Montana, and Mrs. Harold Young, New York. Also surviving are two brothers; Joseph McMahon, this city; Phillip A. McMahon, Pittsburgh; and several nieces and nephews.

KANTORROVITZ, Mrs. Lena

Death of Jewess
The remains of Mrs. Lena Kantorrovitz arrived here at noon Tuesday for interment in the Hebrew cemetery. Friends were under the impression that the body could be interred immediately, but Undertaker Butler could not secure the necessary permit to have the grave dug in time for the interment Tuesday and the funeral took place Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock. Mrs. Kantorrovitz died of pneumonia after a short illness at her home at Kitzmiller, Md., near Blaine. She was the wife of Harry Kantorrovitz, a well known man of that section. Besides her husbad she is survived by six sons, Jacob, Abraham, Samuel, Oscar, Reubeb, Nathan, and two daughters, Anna and Dora. All the family accompanied the remains here and were greatly disappointed when they learned that the remains could not be interred until Wednesday. The same rites that were carried out in the days of Jerusalem are being carried out in the interment of the corpse. No casket enfolds it and no fine fixings were provided, but it lies cold and stiff in a winding sheet and was taken to the grave with sorrowing children following it Wednesday morning. The rough box ued[sic] for caskets was carried in Butler's hearse and the interment was strictly according to Jewish customs. The Rev. Rabbi M. Baron of the Jewish Synagogue here officiated at the service and offered a few words of consolation to those who were nearest and dearest to the deceased.

Friendsville Resident Dies of Injuries
A Friendsville man injured in a head-on car crash near Greensburg, PA, on April 19, died yesterday in Westmoreland County Hospital at Greensburg.
Omer J. Humberson, 31, suffered skull, rib and knee injuries in the mishap on Route 30. Killed outright was S. William Kanuck, 57, of Pittsburgh, the other driver.

KEGLEY, W. VA.,  November 18 - R. E. Karces, a well-known resident of this place, committed suicide by partially blowing off his head with a shotgun. He was about 40 years old and was manager of the Kegley Wholesale Grocery Co. He leaves a widow and two small children.

Claude William Karn, 75, of 173 Summit Ave., husband of the late Winifred Bonig Karn, died at the Washington County Hospital Wednesday morning. Born in Brunswick, he was the son of Milton Arthur and Catherine R. Kline Karn. He had lived in Hagerstown for the past 15 years. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Hazel M. Dennis of Smithsburg. Services will be held at the Norment Funeral Home Friday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Dr. W. S. Hogevoll will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. They have requested flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be made to the Heart Assn. of Washington County.

Mrs. Winifred May Karn, wife of Claude W. Karn, 173 Summit Avenue, died at the Gateway Convalescent Home Tuesday at 3 p. m. of complications after an illness of four years. She was 59 years old. She was born at Racine, Wisconsin, and was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry A. Bonig. She spent most of her married life in Nashville, Tennessee, moving to Hagerstown about two years ago. She was a member of the Lutheran church at Grantsville. Besides her husband, she is survived by one sister, Mrs. Mildred James, Lonaconing. The body was removed to the funeral home of A. K. Coffman, where services will be held Thursday at 2 p. m., with the Rev. Lawrence Strunk officiating. Interment will be made in Rose Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home this evening from 7 to 9 o'clock.

HAGERSTOWN-Mrs. Winifred M. (Bonig) Karnes, 59, wife of Claude Karnes, died Tuesday at the Gateway Convalescent Home, following an illness of four years. A former resident of Garrett County, she held membership in Grantsville Lutheran Church. Surviving, besides her husband is a sister, Mrs. Mildred James. Services were conducted this afternoon at the Coffman Funeral Home by Rev. Lawrence Strunk and interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery.

EIGHT CASES PARALYSIS - Three Victims of Infantile Disease in Somerset County Have Died. Infantile Paralysis claimed another young life in this region Sunday. In addition a sudden outburst of the disease at Confluence in this county resulted in an extra ordinary joint meeting of the board of health and the borough council Sunday afternoon. As a result of the session, a rigid quarantine on all children in the borough for the next two weeks was ordered. All little ones are to be kept on the premises of their parents and all churches, Sunday Schools and other assemblages are to be closed until the quarantine is lifted. The little chap, who died is Coleman Karp, four-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. David Karp of Barnesboro. He died at 4 o'clock Sunday morning after three days' illness. The child suffered from what is known as ascending paralysis, which begins in the feet and successive limbs until it reaches the vitals. The child died when the respiratory and cardiac centers in the medulla oblongata were paralyzed, making respiration and heart action impossible. The remains of the child were taken to Johnstown in an auto hearse and were buried in the Hebrew Cemetery at Giestown. Five new cases developed Sunday at or near Confluence, as follows: Ruth, seven-month-old daughter of Arch Kennedy of Dumas, a village near Confluence; James, two-year-old son of Frank Havner of Confluence; May, three-year-old daughter of C. A. Cunningham of Confluence; Vincent, four years old and Eva, three year old children of Albert Hyatt of Confluence. The Fox children, who first became ill at Confluence, returned Sunday to their home in Conshohocken, Pa. The situation in Cambria and Somerset Counties, outside of the places named, is said to be unchanged. Elsie, the eight year old daughter of W. A. Bird, of Listonburg died yesterday after only one day illness. There have been in the past few weeks in all thirteen cases of infantile paralysis in Somerset County.

ECKHART - Edward W. "Did" Kasecamp, 53, of Eckhart, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at his residence. Born Aug. 11, 1949, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Leonard and LaVerne (Anderson) Kasecamp. Mr. Kasecamp was a U.S. Army veteran of Viet Nam and was combat wounded. He was a member of the Farrady Post 24 American Legion and the VFW. He was a former member of Abate. Surviving are one sister, with whom he resided, Lois Gillen, Eckhart; two brothers, Robert Kasecamp, Eckhart, and James Kasecamp, Cumberland; three half-brothers; two half-sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Gerald Evans officiating. Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by the Viet Nam Veterans of America Chapter 172 following the services. Mrs. Alice Catherine Kauffman, 62, wife of Elmo W. O. Kauffman, died this morning at her home in Fort Ashby, W. Va. She suffered a stroke last night. Mrs. Kauffman was a native of this city and a daughter of the late Henry Charles and Alice Catherine (Bell) Hensel. She held membership in Fort Ashby Trinity Methodist church. Besides her husband, she is survived by three children, Mrs. Raymond C. Adams, of Fort Ashby; Mrs. William Ansell, Jr., of Springfield, W. Va.. and Richard Walter Kauffman, this city; three brothers, Alonza Hensel, of Orleans Crossroads, W. Va., and William Henry and Orlanda Earl Hensel, both of Corriganville; and two sisters, Mrs. F. L. Reed and Mrs. Roy Gormer, both of this city. The body will be taken to the home tomorrow morning.

KAUFFMAN, Elmo W. O.
 
Elmo W. O. Kauffman, 79, of Fort Ashby, died yesterday at the summer home of his daughter, Mrs. Pauline V. Adams, near Romney. He had been in failing health the past several years. Born in Shenandoah, Va., he was a son of the late Richard and Sarah (Wertz) Kauffman. His wife, Alice K. (Hensel) Kauffman, preceded him in death. Mr. Kauffman was a retired foreman of the B & O welding department. He was a member of Ohr Lodge AF & AM 131, Tall Cedars of Lebanon and the Knights of Pythias. Besides Mrs. Adams, he is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Helen K. Ansel, Springfield, W.Va., and a son Richard W. Kauffman, Ft. Ashby. The body is at the Scarpelli Funeral Home. Ohr Lodge will hold a memorial service tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

KAUFFMAN, Mrs. Lydia Ann Dawson

FORT ASHBY, W.Va. - Lydia Ann (Dawson) Kauffman, 68, Fort Ashby, died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 1991, at Cumberland (Md.) Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born Sept. 18, 1923 in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Maude (Riley) Dawson. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Donald Kenney. Mrs. Kauffman was a buyer for Grant’s Department Store. She retired from the Mineral County Board of Education where she was director of the Adult Basic Education Program at the Mineral County Vo-Tech Center in Keyser. She was a member of McKinley Chapter 12, Order of the Eastern Star, Cumberland, and Gold Star Wives of America. Survivors include her former husband, Richard W. Kauffman Sr., Fort Ashby; two sons, Richard W. Kauffman Jr., Fort Ashby; and James T. Kauffman, Keyser; one brother, Lester Dawson, Coatesville, Pa.; two sisters, Mary Weaver, Cresaptown, Md.; and Pearl Barnes, Cumberland; and five grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, Cumberland. Services will be conducted at the funeral home Saturday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Johnny Kelly. Interment will be in the Fort Ashby Cemetery.

KAYLOR, Mrs. Annie E. Largent

Services for Mrs. Annie E. Kaylor, 87, who died Saturday night in Allegany County Infirmary where she had been a patient for a month, will be held tomorrow at 2 pm. from the Scarpelli Funeral Home with Rev. A. B. L. Fisher, pastor of Grace Methodist Church officiating. Burial will take place in Mr. Savage Methodist Cemetery. Before going to the infirmary Mrs. Kaylor resided with a daughter, Mrs. Flara E. Zollner, Potomac Park. She had lived in Cumberland about 35 years. The widow of Adam Kaylor, she was a daughter of the late Moses and Harriet (Critton) Largent, Paw Paw, W. Va. Survivors include two sons, Thomas J. Kaylor, Paw Paw, and Edwrd P. Kaylor, this city; another daughter, Mrs. Anna M. Hare, also of Cumberland; 17 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

PATTERSON'S CREEK - On Tues, the 17th, Daniel Edward, the five month old son of Mr and Mrs Edward Kaylor, was smothered to death in bed. He was a lovely child and only son. His parents and seven sisters will miss him so much. The children are small and were so fond of the baby brother.

John W. Kaylor - Funeral services for John W. Kaylor, 72, a retired railroad trackman, who died at his home in Pattrson's Creek, W. Va., will be held today at 11 a.m. in Trinity M.E. church at Fort Ashby.  Interment will be in Fort Ashby cemetery. Besides his widow, Mrs Zella Agnes Kaylor, he leaves two daughters, Mrs. S.M. Robinson, of Pattersons Creek, Mr. Paul Klein, of Frostburg, and five sisters, Mrs. H.C. Wagoner, of Ridgeley, W. Va., and Mrs James Miller and Miss Alice and Lilly Kaylor, of Wiley Ford, and Mrs. William Evans of Pittsburgh, Pa.  He also leaves eight grandchildren and one great grand-child.

Keyser - Miss Lilly Lucinda Kaylor, 77, of here, died yesterday at the Ours Nursing Home where she had been a patient a year. Born at Wiley Ford, she was a daughter of the late Adam J. and Elizabeth (Henderson) Kaylor. She was a member of Fort Ashby Methodist Church. Surviving are three sisters: Miss Alice Kaylor, Keyser; Mrs. Ada Miller, Wiley Ford; Mrs. Amanda Evans, Turtle Creek, Pa. The body is at the Rogers Funeral Home here. Services will be conducted tomorrow at the Fort Ashby Church by Rev. A.H. Harmon, and interment will be in Fort Ashby Cemetery.

Mrs. Mary E. Kaylor, 68 years old, a widow, died at 8 o'clock Tuesday night at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. H. A. Abe, at Little Cacapon, W.Va. The funeral took place at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon with services at the house. Undertaker John C. Wolford, of this city had charge. One son survives.

Paw Paw, W. Va.  - Mrs. Sarah Anna Elizabeth Kaylor, 89, of here, died Saturday at her residence. Born Sept. 13, 1896, in Ackerman, she was the daughter of the late Joshua Robison and Mary (Sinnett) Robison.  Her husband, Thomas Harley Kaylor, died in 1972. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, and the Paw Paw Fire Department Auxilliary. She is survived by one daughte, Mary Ann Norton, of here; two sons, Robert Kaylor, Leesburg, Va; Roland Kaylor, here; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the St. Charles Catholic Church Sunday and Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the church Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Father Patrick Gillooly officiating. The rosary will be recited Monday at 7:30 p.m. at teh church. Interment will be in Camp Hill Cemetery here. The Johnson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Fort Ashby, W. Va., Nov 13 - Mrs. Zella Agnes Kaylor, 68, widow of John W. Kaylor, died yesterday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Paul Klein. She had made her home with her daughter since the death of her husband three weeks ago.  She was a member of the Methodist church in Fort Ashby. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Klein, and Mrs. Bertha Robinson, Patterson's Creek, W. Va.; three brothers, Edward and Nimrod Wagoner, Fort Ashby, and Curtiss Wagoner, Cumberland; one sister, Mrs Lucy Wince, Points, W.Va.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
