Miss Annie Maria Steiding

STEIDING, Miss Annie Maria

Died, on August 3rd, 1884, Annie Maria Steiding, aged 12 years, 5 months and 8 days.  She was baptized in infancy by Rev. J. H. Cupp, and after being duly instructed in the doctrines of the gospel of God she was confirmed in the Deer Park Evangelical Lutheran Church last spring, at the festival of Trinity Sunday. Annie was a bright, sweet christian[sic] girl, she lived a beautiful life, and though short, accomplished all that was necessary to her salvation.  She died a beautiful death.  It was the day of all the week the best, the Sabbath, that she passed from the shores of time into eternity.  A quiet Sabbath eve.  Two Sabbaths coming together, the earthly and the eternal Sabbath of rest.  Little Annie called in the whole family and bade them an affectionate goodbye, calling each by name.  She then clasped her eldest brother in a fond embrace and called for her brother recently gone before to come now and take her home.  She fell asleep, after a short, but severe attack of typhoid fever which did its perfect work.  The funeral was from her father's, Mr. Barnhardt Steiding's home to the Lutheran Church at Deer Park, thence to Deer Park cemetery, where her remains was laid beside her brother's remains, joining his spirit above. The funeral service was conducted and sermon was preached by Rev. Wm. Stoudemire from the words: She is not dead but sleepeth.  Luke 8:52.  Mr. Steiding's household is greatly afflicted with typhoid.  Five of the family has already taken the disease and two have died.  the Lord comfort and bless them.

Ferdinand Steiding

STEIDING, Ferdinand

On the 23rds inst. Mr. Ferdinand Steiding died at the home of his father, in Garrett county, Md., near Deer Park, after a short but severe siege of suffering from the typhoid fever.  The deceased was born at Barton, Allegany county, Md., September 12, 1865, and was dedicated to the Lutheran church by holy baptism on Novem, ber 19th, 1865, by Rev. Huffman, the pastor.  From his infancy he was a member of the Lutheran church, and from a child he was taught the Holy Scriptures which were able to make him wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus, I Tim.3, 15.  Being taught the doctrines of the Bible and of the church, as embraced in the catechism, he was received into the full privileges and fellowship of the Lutheran church at Deer Park two years ago, by the present pastor, Rev. Stoudenmire, in which he remained a faithful member until death.  His funeral was from the residence of his father, Barnhardt Steiding, to the Deer Park Lutheran church, thence to the cemetery.  A large number of sympathising relatives and friends attended the funeral.  The service and sermon was by Rev. Stoudenmire, the pastor.  The family has not only the sympathy of the church, but of the town and community. The Lord comfort the hearts of the bereaved, and prepare them and us for death, that we may all enjoy the reunions of loved ones in heaven.  Amen.

Died, At the family residence, on the road leading from Deer Park to Swanton, after an illness of only two days, Mariea Elizabeth Steiding, wife of Bernard Steiding, departed this life for the home beyond last Thursday afternoon.  Although frequently afflicted during the winter, her death was unexpected and sudden.  She was born Sept. 18, 1831, having attained nearly the "alloted time," three score and ten years.  On Sunday morning her remains were taken to the Deer Park Lutheran church, where Rev. The deceased was for many years a member of the above church.  She was a faithful wife and companion, a good mother, open-hearted to all who entered her doors, and the large concourse of friends and relatives which filled the church to overflowing bore testimony ot the kindly esteem in which she was held.  A husband, three sons and three daughters mourn their loss.
